Kardel sits upon Vaerhaven's Throne of Jarls in Rosso's absence, and recieves the news via the Vaerhaven paper. He smiles as he reads the news, and says "Well, well, well. . .Dis toime, Uren 'as gone tuu far. . . dou ah nou fer un fact dat after dem kittehs, da dorves be next" He chuckles, as he tosses the paper in the fire before him, watching the fire come to life as it is fed, his amber eyes and silver hair gleaming in the fire light. "Let dem come. . .dey will unleh pruuve deir 'onor ta be fayke."

Kradis reads the declaration, and giggles madly, looking to a spider beside him. "T-This is gonna be fun, yes, isn't it? But it'd be best if we sit it out, no?" he asks the spider, it looking at him with confused eyes. It's as if you were asking a wolf not to eat a sheep. "Yes, I mean it. Maybe we can go sit this out with Goroth." he suggests. The spider gave him another look, and Kradis sighed, "Yes, we'll bring snacks along for the trip. But not too many, we don't want you getting lazy, now do we?" he asks once more, the spider now looking satisfied. They then go off, Kradis skipping along happily, tossing the note behind him. He didn't care if the world burned, as long as he was with his spider, he was happy.

Cyrus overhears chatter of this news within the halls of Ac'talareh. His face pales slightly and he gives a melancholic sigh.

"I suppose there is not much to be done. It is very likely that all but the bortu and Mali'aheral will be taken... and then eventually the world. Let us not lose petty life. He who fears and suppresses the inevitable is a sad man indeed."

*Tenshar is sitting in his workshop drinking hemlock tea when he receives the news of the war declaration. Slowly he places his face in his hands, feeling every callous and scar from years of hard work building places for himself and others to call home, and the work of defending them. And now here was some fool declaring his ownership over his home, some fool whose only reason for having any power was the worthless blood that ran through his veins, the blood of a man with no honor and whose only right to rule had been the fact most of his people were naught but born yes men.*

"Damned be Godfrey and his line, damned be Horen, and damned be Oren. And most of all damned be the fools who call the man the god emperor. He is no god but a child playing war. I know war and I know there is no glory in it unless one is defending their homeland. To try to take another man's home is simply the work of greed."

*With a final curse he returns to his tea, knowing that only his oaths to the academy he now serves in keeps him from opening the hidden chest of war machine blueprints from his years as a siege engineer. He has left the days of war and massacring men with a single flick of his hand, but by gods was he tempted to back to those days now.*

Borric cheers with the rest of his Order, remembering the times when Horen crushed his enemies with a fraction of the force of the Empire.

"Long live t'eh God Emporah! Long live t'eh Empire!"

He yells this as he prepares his gear, for he will be needed with the large armies of his Brethren.

They do this not because they need.

But because they can.

Upon hearing the news of the upcoming war from his fellow rangers, Hadrian curses aloud. "This won't end well. Humanity will win this war, but at what cost? And after the war? Surely we will move to take the Dwarven lands and the Orcish desert. What then? Horen will rule us with an iron fist. His ambitions will not cease, and we his subjects will experience his wrath. Many times I have said what great evil would result from the Great Union of Mankind into the Holy Oren Empire. The destruction is only beginning... What a great conflict this will be: A Great War no doubt -- A War to End All Wars -- A World War. What choice have I but to fight for the Empire? Oaths I have made... I shall now fulfill them all. I will fight alongside the Empire if it comes to that, albeit without joy in the knowledge of the Right of my cause."

As Ser Audric Silverblade lays sleeping in his home, he is awakened by a loud knock on the door. His squire rushes inside, delivering a letter that bears the seal of his cousin, Duke Uthor Silverblade. The elf motions for the squire to wait outside before unsealing the letter and reading its contents. Having learnt of the upcoming war, he peers across the room towards a map that sits hanging from the wall.

"Long live the Empire, indeed..."

It is a late night when a courier brings Silus the note to his office, he himself still working alone at candle light. Thanking the courier he breaks the seal and begins reading the long letter.

Furrowing his brows, he sets the paper aside, sighing.

"I wonder..."

The mangled carcass of a birdwoman slaps into the mountain side, sliding down brigand pass cliff face a few feet then plummeting to the depths below. Another, encompassed by flame and thrashing wildly. 4 men of the Rose, stand within the pass, looking over the demons. As another from the Harpy, pack rushes at the Rosemen, a pale haired figure steps forth, making a brief motion and speaking inaudibly. The harpy comes near, only to be engulfed by flame. The pack looking amidst itself before sending yet another, this one falling short as throwing axe meets tinder wing. Discouraged, the pack flees, seeking new lands.

The immediate threat ceasing, the Rose reforms and continues on toward the keep, a figure jogging to the side of the bald Rose, "So, the 'ell do you think this is REALLY about?" Temp shrugs, the group still moving, "'ave ye' not 'eard? It's for land." The figure throwing a quick jab to Temp's side and shaking it's head, "I call piss on tha' one. Tell us, ye' know what's goin' on. An' ye' always do." Muttering to himself briefly, Temp halts and looks to the group, "Think abou' it. The shite to the North. Godfrey was a tad ol', an' ne'er really cared to prod at it's contents, but whate'er is up there is damned 'orrid. The beasts 'ave grown not only in number, but size aroun' these parts. Ye' think it coincidence? BAH."  One of the men speaks up, "Why not just speak with the Racial heads then?" Shrugging, Temp turns and continues on, "When you've too many 'eads upon a serpent, the body does not know which 'ead to follow. The strongest will take the lead, the weaker simply following. We've a need to trim 'eads. Fewer damned outbursts tha' way. Not to mention unity spews competence."

Caln motions Hadrian to silence.

"He is our Emperor, and we shall follow him. It is time to end these Elves who plague us. Ever killed a kitten before? It is easier than killing a Kha. Some see it as the spread of war, but I see it as a spread of peace. No more conflicts, no more war, and no more unwanted races. We shall begin a new age. A new age of humanity."

Francis Silverblade hears about the news in the local tavern right outside of Salvus in which he is spending the night together with his nephews and sons. He slams his mug on the table and stands up, speaking in a booming voice.

"Let us continue what our ancestors began! For we serve the Empire and our new divine leader, Horen V! ALL HAIL HOREN V OF OUR GLORIOUS EMPIRE!he shouts, raising his mug and emptying it within seconds, a few men joining him in, doing the same.

Damien Horen Hightower lets out a sigh as he hears about the news. "I'd prefer getting rid of all those pesky villains who roam our streets before we expand, we simply do not have enough guards, well, at least in Salvus. I do wonder though if this means I'll finally get my Duchy." he mumbles to himself as he sits on one of the rooftops in Salvus, watching the commotion under him where a Shield is arresting a thief.

Nicodemus sighs. "Why will this nation not focus on internal stabilization before trying to expand? It's ludicrous."
