Imperial Blood Is Purple

Criers in purple cloaks can be heard throughout the towns and cities of Oren.

"Hear ye, hear ye, the Lord High Treasurer is dead.

In a rainy night stabbed in face, a fallen grace.

Hear ye, hear ye, the Lord High Treasurer is dead.

Pushed from a cliff smashed on a mastiff."

The news of the Treasurer's demise spreads fast and soon most people of Oren have heard it...

---

A good lot of hours before, Silus was walking home from work, tired, stressed and somewhat depressed as usual. His appartment was next to the actual office of the treasury. With a great expression of dismay beneath his helmet he glances at the broken windows of the office.

"No..."

Rushing upstairs, only to be met by three cloaked men attacking him. A Brief struggle, one, two stabs amiss, a third one driving through his face with matching screech and blood.

An emotion of resignation on Silus' face. A last shudder, the formerly gripping and wrestling arms dropping. A fall. A pool of blood. And Silus faded from this world as a young lad of twenty-three, chosen as Lord High Treasurer, Duke of Corazon, yet to meet his demise so early.

"...Scarlett..."

A last thought.

On the morrow his body was found by a fisherman down at the docks of Abresi, the office destroyed, the chests being searched through, blood smeared through the rooms.

A cold and quick murder for greed. Money was Silus' duty and his demise it seems.

Somewhere far on the mountains of Furnestock, the falcons become two and the
young in purple joins the old in green. They greet eachother and the purple one flies down to rest.

(( I really didn't expect you to take that death as a perma-kill at all, but it was really fun and rewarding RP. Thanks again for the RP. ))

Patrick Horen, one a supply run into Abresi frowns, and sighs "Patrick was the only good Treasurer... All others shame the title... None would dare attack Patrick..."

He walks off down the street to the Stafyr shop and goes about business

Walking through the Abresi square to buy more stocks for her tavern, Scarlett hears one of these criers.

Hear ye, hear ye, the Lord High Treasurer is dead...

Dropping
all the bottles of ale in her arms, she turns to the crier, her lip
starting to tremble. She stands there for several seconds, frozen by
what the crier is saying.

"No... no... t-this can't be true..."

Tears flowing down her cheeks, she runs back to her tavern across the square and to her room. She
still couldn't believe any of it. She had seem him just several hours
before when they went to the emperor to approve their marriage. She
slammed the door behind her and buried herself into her pillow, her face
red from the tears.

Three days later, Scarlett still hadn't left her room. Her
hair was a mess, her clothes old, and soaked in tears. She slowly stood
from her damp bed and made her way across her room to her chest. All of
her motions were weak, her appearance lacked any charm that it ever
had. Her eyes showed a tiredness, her lips were pale and frowning
,
and her skin was darker than the rain clouds outside. She
used what strength she had left to open the chest that sat on the shelf
on the wall. He fingers trembling, she took the small and cheap dagger
she had in case of robberies.
She looked it over, testing its point for sharpness. Under her breath, she muttered:

"...Silus..."

As her handmaiden knocked on her door for her hourly check on Scarlett,
she found there to be no reply. Reaching above the door, she took the
spare key she wasn't supposed to know of and opened the door. Peeking
inside, she saw nothing. Scarlett was gone, so was the dagger from the
chest. She never found out where Scarlett had gone, or what she did with
that dagger. But one thing was for sure, Scarlett was gone.
