Full Name: Dyonne Ahlusa

Current Age:Forgotten (See Personality)

Sub-race (if any): High Elf

Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long):

I was the firstborn of Anson Ahlusa and Iale from the family of Acilla, both of High Elf stature. Despite the wisdom and prestige that my mother's family carried, my father Anson always discouraged my interaction with them, describing them in only the harshest of language. I spent a great deal of time with my father's parents though, and they had a large part in my instruction and the molding of my personality. Both of my parents were born shortly before their parents could no longer conceive, so my parents begun having children very early. Quite sadly, though, my mother died while giving birth to her third child. My name was given me due to my small size at birth, a derivation of the Ancient word for short.

My parents never talked to me about other races, often just viewing them as something to be ignored, but my grandparents had very strong views on the matter. They would often tell me the most gruesome stories of the evil held inside the supposed Elf killing Orcs and how all Dwarves were to be viewed as untouchables due to their filthy nature. They told me that humans were nearly as savage, and twice as untrustworthy. To them, other types of Elves were entirely useless beings. In between the outbursts of bile and hate, though, was often large amounts of useful lessons that would equip me for life in general. I gained a thorough understanding of the world through them and a deep appreciation for learning. Though my father tried his best to help us, his children, his fits of sadness over my mother's premature death only escalated over the years. In time, I could no longer stand to see him like this. Still filled with youthful energy and vigor, I took it upon myself to begin traveling in an attempt to really understand the world through my own eyes and observe firsthand what it had to offer.

Ambitions for the Future: I left home with little ambition aside from the desire to learn. I quickly decided that I should undertake the task of charting the world, creating maps and logbooks for the benefit of my people and to determine how much of this information can be of actual use.

Personality: I have a very logical way of looking at the world and somewhat unorthodox ways of using the information I gather. If information seems impractical or useless, I do my utmost to remove it from my mind. One such example would be both my age and date of birth. Birth was hardly something my family deemed as worthy of celebration. That combined with the fact that after seeing my father's pain I decided it unlikely I will wed or produce offspring, I decided my age was not something worth remembering. Being near immortal, I never bothered counting time. I am still filled with curiosity and enthusiasm, leading me to believe that I am still in my youth.

I often try to find applications to information I receive. My grandparents’ bigotry never really sunk in, having decided from an early age that I only needed facts and that I could develop my own concepts of the world after experiencing them firsthand. While I share my people’s belief that we are the highest of races, I do not have any hate for the lesser beings as of yet. The morbid dread of Orcs that was instilled during my more impressionable years still lingers, though, leading me to wear a large amount of clothing while exploring for my own safety.

I am strongly against physically interacting with anything I deem ‘dirty.’

Skills: Aside from a wide array of knowledge and some charting skill, I really do not excel in any areas of note.

Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): I am a bit shorter than what would be considered normal for a High Elf. My skin has a tint of gold and my thick, long hair is a shiny platinum blonde. My eyes have a purple tint and aside from my height, my physique is standard for a High Elf. I wear a grey cloak and metal boots along with a blue and green scarf while traveling to avoid drawing attention to myself. I carry a case on my back which contains my charts, notes and a bit of food and water. Though I rarely am home, when I am I tend to wear a soft blue tinted robe and go barefoot.

Any other details you wish to share about your character: My character (I know, switching from 1st to third person, but it makes more sense this way to me) was designed to be very dynamic. My following responses are in line with how Dyonne will react to these events when I first began, but who knows what induce a change in character. Both me and my character go with the flow with little planning, so I haven’t planned how my character will develop over time. What would be the fun in that?

Open-Response-Questions

Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point.

____

1. As you walk through the deep forests you hear the sound of whispering and snickering. Upon inspection you realize that a group of older elves are mocking a small elven child. How do you react?

Answer:

If all parties are High Elves, I approach with the following remark (Otherwise, I would most likely just listen, perhaps jotting down their conversation if I deem it useful knowledge):

“Berating this child is hardly a productive exercise and is far from becoming of those of your stature. I would advise you to all engage your minds in more fruitful activities.” At this juncture, several different responses may come from the older elves, but the only one that would elicit a response on my part would be if one of them grabbed me. Being High Elves, it is unlikely that they would do so.

2. Whilst wandering through the Elven forests you come across a frail old man with a walking stick. He collapses in front of you, falling to the ground with a sharp thud. Out of his pocket falls a small pouch of gold coins, which hits the ground and splits open spreading coins across the pathway. The man lies there, defenseless - what do you do?

Answer:

I look around nearby for somewhere to sit. Upon finding a spot, I take a seat facing the old man. I pull from my bag my traveling log and begin writing, all the while occasionally looking up at the man. “While charting part of the forest, I found myself back along the pathway. I often enjoy stumbling upon such traveled paths, as this affords me the opportunity to to observe how different beings interact. I have just now encountered an older person who has fallen down, spilling what seems to be a sizable sum of wealth on the road. So far, he has not mustered the strength to stand and collect his belongings and he seems to be calling to me for help. I imagine this means he is traveling alone. If no one shows up soon, I shall continue along the path, hopefully running into someone I can inform of this man’s misfortune, after which I can catalogue his response.”

However, if the man has the strength to pull himself up, I may follow him in order to determine what reason he has for carrying so much money. To avoid arousing suspicion, I would travel at a distance, all the while trying to avoid being seen by him.

3. Whilst traversing the Elven Woodlands, you come across a small clearing in which a colored carriage sits. A trader stands outside of it and calls you over, telling you of his wares. He points out that his carriage sells just about everything, and that he's willing for you to haggle for a price. What does your character do? (Please include:- item, haggling for prices and the discussion involved).

Answer:

“I would like to purchase both paper and books from you in large quantities along with some feathers and ink for writing.” I say to the man. “How much would you like?” He asks me. “How much do you have?” I respond. After he tells me how much of what I need he possesses, I calculate the price such things would cost in this area and offer him a price for the lot. He, of course, denies the price and offers a higher one. Staunchly I decline, referring once again to the price I set as the highest I will pay. Depending on his desperation to make money, he will either give me what I want for the price I ask or respond with saying “I don’t think you understand what haggling is.” In such a case I would leave the carriage alone, jotting down my interactions in my logbook as I go.

You've pretty much nailed what it means to be a High Elf and the character is quite unique.
