The Graven's Guide To Everything - Coming Soon!
The lore post will be up soon. I've got exams coming up, big ones, so it'll either be in a week or in four or five. Pirates 5eva. On a latter note, we should probs start haunting dwarves, Abresi kinda knows what we are :\

I think Pirates and Ninjas are equal now, with one vote for Clowns. In other news, we've reached our limit of Graven with The White Wolf's and Kaydovee_'s reservations, so I'll edit the thread title to indicate that. It's a shame we didn't get any ghost pirates, though.

Something I saw in the Bloodied Cavalier's post by Anawkin was the phrase 'the only thing that could harm it was steel'. That is incorrect and probably a result of bad wording on my part. Anything that can kill what the Graven once was can kill the Graven. It doesn't have to be steel, gold, silver or anything in particular, although obviously holy or blessed weapons cause the Graven to demanifest almost instantly. Graven are harder to kill, due to the fact that they do not feel harm and are not phased by injury--though they are corporeal, e.g. you can cut off their arms. A Graven can be stopped by appeasing it, damaging it enough that it demanifests, or simply waiting it out. However, all Graven possess one ability that is the same across the entire 'species', and that is the capacity to cause madness with direct eye contact, similar to the Dark Ones. This can only occur at close range; the target must be able to see the trapped soul writhing inside the form-cage of the Graven's body.

TL;DR: Don't look them in the eyes or you go mad. You can kill them, but you can't hurt them. You can kill them with anything that would kill a normal person, it doesn't have to be a specific metal.

In a sentence or less, why do you want to play a Graven character: Essentially, I've always been longing to play an otherworldly character and I'd think playing a graven would not only be the perfect chance, but could help me expand upon my delth and capabilities in rp. Boo!

What roleplay do you feel you will bring to other players as a Graven: I'm hoping to bring a where not alone chilling to lotc, as seen in a multitude of movies and willingly I'd like to present players with fear or disarray to enter a stray off the beaten path forest, or a blackened alleyway. So basically I want to put a lil' scare in anthos!

What ghost story, if any, is your Graven based on: If any i'd say he's most like the headless horseman fella, with a head though! He's a man of action, speaking only a must or if he's feeling up to. So there ya are!

Have you been accepted for a VA or MA, and if so, how many times did it take to be accepted? If more than one separate application, please answer for all: All Linked below, with the exception of MA's as I currently have never made one.

Open Response Questions:

What is your Graven's unfulfilled duty: An old voice plundered before his death, still haunting him now, echoing his thoughts at the cunning task he was truly never able to complete. In his pre-death state james was a messenger, a hefty squire to a fair knight, but on the eve of a subtle knight, james set out to linger for the sending of a parchment, but sadly he never reached his course, sacked by men of his own, his body remaining unfound to this day, seemingly sacked and tossed in the river, left for fish food. And now in his afterlife as a graven, he carries on with his relying of words, though now, he bears the news of death, to whoever's doorstep he has chosen.

To what does your Graven most respond: James staggers at ignorance slightly, though only treacherous deeds of murder, abuse and other improperness, sends him on edge, in to so he calls for steed, the ride of the cavalier awaiting to whoever and wherever the fiend may be.

What, specifically, regenerates your Graven's energies (i.e. in what way is its duty fulfilled): His duty bears messaging, and such once he was concealed his message of death upon whomever has intolerated his moral standings, then shall his essence be rejuvenated.

What are some typical signs of your Graven manifesting: The clip clop of a horse approaching, neighing too, the sound of mad cackling and the scourging of a hollow wind gusting all bind what ties together the approach of the cavalier.

Write a short (2-3 paragraphs) biography of your Graven's first life:

~Childhood~

James was born to but a father, his mother abandoning them both when he was but a year old. It was about that time of his mothers leaving, the his father was forced to depart for war, leaving james with weeks on end alone, though james was quite a good kid, his fathers absence lead to some mischievous endeavors committed by none other than james. This aroused the attention of a noble ser, one who had eyed potential in the two feet of james. And thus he was forced into waiting until james father had given him conceant, swell for james to reach of age. So James' continuing years stayed very much so, allowing for more and more time to spend with his father as the war died down.

~Adolescence~[Death]

And so came james 13th birthday, marking not only his teenage years but his reaching of age for squireship. After many debated talks with his father, as well as the several of them calling for jakes approval, it was settled upon that jake would squire to that very same night, beginning just a fort-day after it had been agreed upon. Jake served a bus sling of 2 years before any trouble came of his squireship, 'earning' beatings from the other squires, due to his said talent and dedication to the occupation. Sadly the beating grew worse, though jake managed to keep a few number of friends to keep him company. One by the name of Arnold, the other Samuel, they enjoyed a merry dinner one eve, before they all returned to there bunks, James fell asleep first and rightfully so as the other two had been awake the whole time. The two woke james up in the setting of dusk, handing hims letter the marshall had addressed him to deliver that morning. So james set out into the brisk of night with his so called fiends, he lay in the butchered remains of what once was a 18 year old boy, murdered in cold blood by his only known friends, who'd let there jealousy overtake them.

Pirates or Ninjas: Pirates ye scurvy dog!

Write an open-ended encounter of your choice that involves your Graven interacting with a living person (doesn't need to be longer than a paragraph, if you aren't into heavy writing):

*The patter of hooves strikes the floor, early getting louder as it seems to get closer and closer*

*the man looks around, glancing as he half-expects to see a knight, but he finds no avail, scanning around the room rapidly *

*an elongated whiney bounces around the room, followed by a mad cackle, the clatter of steel breaks this as the cavalier steps forth into the room.*

*the mans eyes glue to the cavalier, shaking his head in disbelief as he begins to rub his eyes maniacally.*

*the cavalier spreads a pale frown across his cheeks, stepping across the room in a pace, slowly eazing his rugged long sword in hand "Your time is up." he grimly states

*the man cowers, tossing wooden objects and anything he can scamper to grab at the cavalier, but to no avail, but a frail scratch across the cavaliers cheek, not wandering on that the only thing that seeming hurt the graven was steel.

*the cavalier bites his lip, his frown deepening as he brings his crude sword to the mans neck, "Tsk.. Tsk" he mutters, before the mans head lops, rolling around with a few bumps. And with that the cavalier takes his leave, mounting his horse with a sudden grin, the image of him appearing more vividly.

Graven Name/Title: Hunter

Screenshot of skin to be used: kDj9gGY.png

In a sentence or less, why do you want to play a Graven character: My first encounter with Grim's original Graven, Warden, was, simply put, amazing.

What roleplay do you feel you will bring to other players as a Graven: I want to bring a bit of a spectacle to the streets. Certainly, a very horrific and terrifying, spectacle, but a spectacle nonetheless, in the form of a battle between two ghosts. Also, when interacting with the living, I'd very much like to terrify them and try to interrogate them for the locations of ghosties and Gravens.

What ghost story, if any, is your Graven based on: None that I am aware of, albeit I am certain that there may be one or two that would relate to his scenario. Perhaps not ghost stories per se, but quite often you will find stories of undead hunters and such becoming undead themselves.

Have you been accepted for a VA or MA, and if so, how many times did it take to be accepted? If more than one separate application, please answer for all: I was accepted for a VA on my first try as Elsil Llumn'iheiu. I screwed up pretty badly on the second one because I rushed it, so that was never accepted.

Open Response Questions:

What is your Graven's unfulfilled duty: Hunter was, well, a ghost hunter in life. A fighter of the spectral and unseen. He, however, specifically focused on hunting GRAVEN.

To what does your Graven most respond: This Graven will respond to anything that may be the work of ghosts. Sounds coming from no visible source. Voices. Strange glows. Objects moving for seemingly no reason. It will also react to violence or terror.

What, specifically, regenerates your Graven's energies (i.e. in what way is its duty fulfilled): It's energies are regenerated in killing other Graven, banishing ghosts, or interrogating the living as to learn where they are.

What are some typical signs of your Graven manifesting: The rasp of a blade being drawn. Whispers. The jangle of chainmail. The creak of rooftops. A bowstring being drawn back. The click of a crossbow. The footprints in the snow. At the very end of it, a bit of a dramatic thing happens. Glowing mist appears and swirls around a spot, before erupting into spectral fire. At the point it has erupted into fire, it takes a shape of a body and chainmail appears. ((Don't worry, ever heard of cold fire? This is it. No heat. If anything, it would feel cold as ice. Thus, his body cannot harm more than a mortal can. Still semi-corporeal, of course, no phasing through objects. :D ))

Write a short (2-3 paragraphs) biography of your Graven's first life:

Hunter was once alive. Centuries, upon centuries ago, his name had been James, and he had been a ghost hunter. So singularly dedicated he was in his work, that all his friends and family had left him. No time for them did he spare. All for the greater good. That these ghastly abominations would walk the streets no more, haunting and terrifying all who were seen. Gold, silver, steel, stone or wood... He used it all in his work. Working on superstitions as well as studies and experiences. It was only that fateful day, the day he died, fighting blade on blade with a Graven, that he realized his folly. In his dedication, in his fervor, he had damned himself to become such an abomination himself. To a fate worse than hell.

James, as a child, walked the streets, quiet, shy, gentle. But it was the day that the Graven appeared and literally scared his parents to death that he resolved to become a ghost hunter. It wasn't until much later he realized all the various kinds, and the one that had killed his parents. A Graven. And he hunted many. For his whole life, he was set on one thing. The deaths and banishments of all spectral beings. And so he was fated for this irony. A Graven hunter, made Graven himself.

Pirates or Ninjas: Pirates, ninjas PG too much. :P

Write an open-ended encounter of your choice that involves your Graven interacting with a living person (doesn't need to be longer than a paragraph, if you aren't into heavy writing):

((Due to character rules, this would never actually happen, but my main character Jess is absolutely terrified of ghosts.))

The rasp of a blade, ringing out through the air. Jess didn't pay much attention to it, walking down the streets of Abresi. Nor did she pay much attention to the jangle of chainmail. She should have. Jessica, knowing there was always fights going on in Abresi, didn't bother giving it a second thought. Too late now.

Whispers, coming from everywhere, and yet nowhere, is what caught her attention. The whispers of a soul in utter agony. That is when she realized her mistake.

     "Ghost..."

Frozen to the spot, as a glowing mist swirls around and around a spot, before suddenly erupting into spectral flame. It takes the shape of a body. Chainmail, along with golden links here and there, suddenly appearing and armouring most of it's body. Blade already drawn the being stepped forward.

"Where is the Graven?! I KNOW THERE IS ONE HERE!" the being erupts.

"I don't know, I don't know!" cries the girl, cringing in horror and terror. "Please, I don't know!"

" YOU KNOW WHERE IT IS! NOW TELL ME!" it shouts, flames leaping higher from his body in his fervor.

"I... It likes to appear in the town square, I don't know anything else, please, don't hurt me!" she babbles.

The being's flames die down, calmer. If it actually had a face, perhaps it might have smiled. Or maybe it did, and she just couldn't see it.

"Thank you," it says, much more gently and calmly. "You may go now."

Jess scrambles to her feet and runs out of Abresi. Groceries can wait. Meanwhilst, the being, a Graven hunter made one himself, turns, and goes off to hunt down this other.

Graven Name/Title: Aiwendil, Lonely Druid

Screenshot of skin to be used: http://i.imgur.com/OmLlRVd.png

In a sentence or less, why do you want to play a Graven character:

I want to play a Graven because i already tought about creating something like a Character that never can finish his duty and at the first place i want to add more interesting entcounters with other players, i'm not the guy who likes combat roleplay and more fantasy like one.

What roleplay do you feel you will bring to other players as a Graven:

My Graven would act as a Man who never finished his duty to keep balance in the nature, he would stay wise and can give players some druidic roleplay and conversations, i really want no combat graven at all.

What ghost story, if any, is your Graven based on: (Updated+Death Story)

My character was/ is a Lonely Druid who tried to create everything possible, that would heal and restore burned/ destroyed plants etc. He was/ is a person who tries to keep balance in everything and peace between groups and peoples. But he knows himself that there will be never balance between the nature and the other people/ creatures, but he never gave up his duty...
Studied Alchemy before, but only is using it to create nature related potions to heal the ground and the plants around him, sometimes his potions are failures but he is everytime testing those...drinking them on his own. His body is allready old and the testing is making him sick.
He was/ is a lonely druid because he never enjoyed the methods from the other druids at all...he is more doing his duty on his own and earned many enemies with it.

~Freedome~ ((Story from the Vaerhaven Apparition Storyline, the most horrible death that could happen currently)

After he regenerated a cave with plants and water, a hole appeard in the wall...a dark corridor, a corridor with no noises. He was/ is a logical person and left the corridor behind him. But after he found that hole, nightmares were hurting his mind every single night and he noticed that the hole could be the problem, so he entered the unknown place.

It was/ is a maze like cave filled with darkness, it was unsual cold and silence. He was there allready since a lot of hours and lost, but then he heard something. It was a childish laughner in the darkness...Aiwendil tried to find the source of the voice and found a pillar with skeleton corpses and heads around it. His mind began to hurt, but his curiosity made him touch the pillar. The room began to shake like a earthquake and the walls were rotting...a very loud moan entcountered him and the cave was totally dark. He started to feel Terror and dread...but he used his last strenght to run away from the unknown being. The entcounter damaged his mind badly but he found the way out of the cave he called himself "Lunatican".

No one would know that he awoke a evil spirit, a Apparition. The poor Man got haunted every night by noises and greater nightmares.

The Apparition was free and started to haunt the whole town. It attacked the citizens and people that tried to communicate with it. After month of haunting the evil being got hurted by a wizard and became even more angry then before. The new target was Aiwendil...

~The Terror~

The lonely man was damaged and haunted inside of his mind but he knew that soon, it would arrive to end his live. The man prepared himself to defend his live and the grove.

One cold day the night arrived and it was unsual cold, colder then before. The plants around Aiwendil started to rott away...his birds died by the allready powerfull presence. The grove was filled with darkness and the man freezed horrible. He was too old allready to defend himself. Black Fog appeard in front of him, glowing blue and red. The Fog transformed into a human like body with one red eye...staring into the soul of Aiwendil. The Apparition moaned horrible and crawled into the mind of Aiwendil, showing him his greatest nightmare. Aiwendil was lost in his Mind and the evil being damaged his soul with dread, fear and terror. The man screamed in pain while the Apparition tortured the old man with horrible thoughts. His mind was terrorized by the nightmare, his eyes started to bleed and his body began to shake heavily. Aiwendil saw the nature around him burned and rotting, the living began to die and burn, the animals died, everything burned and he saw himself rotting away. The man unleashed a final and painfull scream before the Apparition ended his live with horrible Terror. Aiwendils eyes were red and frozen blood around him, his grove was dead and he was too.

Aiwendil died by total terror and fear...he died by a evil Spirit, he woke up inside of his own grove...

The vines surrounded his body, only one flower survived the terror from the spirit, it was a flower on Aiwendils body...

Open Response Questions:

What is your Graven's unfulfilled duty:

My Graven's unfulfilled duty is to keep balance in the nature, even if it would cost his own live, he would do everything to finish his impossible duty.

To what does your Graven most respond:

My Graven would mostly respond to Nature related things. If plants/ lands are destroyed, my Graven would totally respond to those. If he would meet people that are trying to hurt a tree he would respond to them, if people are trying to hurt his "Homeland" he would respond. Anything else then Nature related things, he would ignore totally.
With the horrible death by another Spirit, he will respond to every Apparition around in his area.

What, specifically, regenerates your Graven's energies (i.e. in what way is its duty fulfilled):

My Graven needs to be around a fresh and healed Area to regenerate himself, like a Oasis, a grove, flowerfield or just his own home, that is a grove. Meaning being around a destroyed area makes him weaker.

What are some typical signs of your Graven manifesting:

He was once the friend of Birds, Birds would start to sing and a warm breeze that contains green fog with fresh leaves is circling around one spot and the Graven manifests.

Write a short (2-3 paragraphs) biography of your Graven's first life:

He was once a Person lived over 50 years alone in a forest, meaning that only the trees and the plants were his parents. He never met his own family at all and calls the Nature his only family. After a lot of years he first started to meet other people, learned from them the unknown stories and things he never heard before. He never really understood the other people about creating own towns and houses. So he went to the Druids  and tried to understand their methods...but being around on one spot and talking with plants was never his thing. So he left the Druids because he never wanted to stay around at one area. On his journey through the new unknown lands he met a lot of war and death. But the most thing that hurted him was the damage people caused to the nature...
After those dark entcounters he met a old Alchemist and learned from him how to create usefull potions to heal people and even plants. The Alchemist died with his age but Aiwendil never broke up his study about alchemist.

Aiwendil understood that he would need a place to start his duty of helping the nature, so he went to Vaerhaven where he worked as the healer, creating his own grove and forest. He tried to keep the town peacefull. He used his grove only to study the potions he created to heal plants. But he noticed that his duty also contains to keep peace between the races, groups and plants. Aiwendil tried everytime to stay peacefull, he healed everyone and even helped the greatest Murders around, tried to tell his opinions about war and hurting the plants but that earned him many enemies.

He understood that the minds from some people were damaged from all the war and battles around them. So he used all his skills to create even the hardest alchemical potions, creating more and testing them at himself. Those testings made him sick but he did everything to heal plants or create even new ones. On his journey he earned a lot of friends but his only trustfull friends were his birds around him. Talking to those and to his plants...even if they never responded. The testing made him psychic damaged and his mind only followed the duty to keep balance between the nature and the living.

Pirates or Ninjas:

Pirates! Yar Har!

Write an open-ended encounter of your choice
that involves your Graven interacting with a living person (doesn't need
to be longer than a paragraph, if you aren't into heavy writing):

The Birds are starting to sing around the grove after a Druid entered the Grove from Aiwendil. A warm breeze with leaves is blowing around the unknown Druid and green but cold flames are burning in front of him...Aiwendil appears out of the green flames and stares at the Druid.

Druid: "What is going on here and who are you?"

Aiwendil noticed that the Druid stomp over a flower and talks to him in a relaxing tone: "Why you hurt the child?"

The Druid seems to be confused and looks down to his feet, releasing the plant.
"I'm sorry about that but i never saw something like you before."

Aiwendil green fire inside his robe is shining brighter now and he continues to conversate with the Druid.
"You are a man of Nature i believe..."

The Druid nods at the Graven. "Yes...i'm of course one, i'm a Druid."

Aiwendil starts to move away from the Druid and circling around a Tree...sliding his green and flames like hand at the Tree.

"Do you see this tree? He is a young one who started his live on this world...he is a child of the Nature and no one should harm a child to create fire. Even the greatest Tree can be a child and the nature would cry about losing one."

Druid: "Yes i fully understand this and i try to everytime to help the trees."

Aiwendil seems to ignore the Druid and continues to talk in a relaxing tone.

"I'm like the father who should help this tree to grow bigger, but even this tree isn't enough and i should help every plant around me to grow, no one should harm this tree and the nature and everyone should know that those are the children from our Nature."

Aiwendil starts to move away and passes the Druid, Birds are following him on his way while he slides his green flames like hand over every flower and tree...noticing a flower is laying on the ground. He grabs the flower and shows it the Druid.

"You see my friend...this flower cries and the family too. I should replant this children before it dies from the cold. Druid...you can come with me and grow a plant with this children...so it's no longer alone."

The Druids nods and grabs seeds out of his bag...following the Graven to Water.

Aiwendil plants the flower back into the earth and waits for the Druid to plant his seeds next to the flower. The Druid is planting the seeds next to the flower.

The Graven shows a Tree Sapling to the Druid and asks him to move on and plant this sapling somewhere, where nature needs a new child. He would follow the Druid and would only left him after the Sapling has been planted, telling wise words to the Druid before he would leave him behind.

Before death: Sir Kahlil Mark

Graven name: The Stalker/ Following Shadow

Screenshot of skin to be used: ((ill get to this, currently I'm away and can not make a skin at this time, it will be done by Saturday at the least))

Description of character(this is temporary since I don't have a skin available right now.)

A tall black and grey slender figure, reaching about 7'10". He has long white claws extending from his hands and feet, and large pure white and jagged teeth. He has oval shaped red eyes that slant down into slits when watching or examining a potential candidate for his lover. While the spectral figure may appear skinny, he is quite strong and can normally lift people with ease. He is black up and down his body, with his joints a more grey color.

In a sentence or less, why do you want to play a Graven character: I believe playing this character will not only offer an entertaining experience for me, but also for those who I interact with.

What roleplay do you feel you will bring to other players as a Graven: A creepy yet entertaining experience, something people might actually feel afraid of. However, it would be more of a haunting/stalking rather than pure combat, it may be creepy but that doesn't have to mean hostile. I want to provide entertainment without necessarily causing harm to others.

What ghost story, if any, is your Graven based on: None that I know of, although it probably will be related to something.

Have you been accepted for a VA or MA, and if so, how many times did it take to be accepted? If more than one separate application, please answer for all:

I have been accepted once for a minor VA for another character, took me one try. I have not done much other than that.

I currently have a VA in progress for my first and main character, Loche Faelcyn.

No magic Applications have been submitted by me.

Open Response Questions:
What is your Graven's unfulfilled duty:

Finding his lost lover. Someone he held dear to him who he let slip away. His eternal goal is to find her, but he does not remember who she is exactly.

To what does your Graven most respond:

Mainly to sound, loud noises, crying and screaming, and to women.

What, specifically, regenerates your Graven's energies (i.e. in what way is its duty fulfilled):

Finding and hunting down women, if he can successfully verify it is not his lost lover, it fills him with an energy to continue his search. If the woman is killed or something bad happens to her, he will be filled with an adrenaline rush that will renew energy, but will eventually lose interest if he can tell its not his lost love.

Serving a woman, who he deems is fit, and is quite possibly his lost love. He will follow, serve and protect them, and this will feed him energy. He will talk with, follow, stalk and defend them, until they die, or he demanifests, or he sees through the lies, and realizes they are not her, and he is being fooled.

What are some typical signs of your Graven manifesting: A ghastly and distant sobbing. A long pattern of soft footstep sounds. Spectral eyes watching from a distance. The sound of claws scraping against the walls or floor. A dark Black and Yellow fire swirling Into existence. Claws, eyes, fangs and his Golden necklace coming into view from an unknown place.

Write a short (2-3 paragraphs) biography of your Graven's first life:

During his childhood, Kahlil grew up with another girl his age, named Maren. From early in his life he was always fond if her. He often found himself by her side, keeping her out of harms way. They were great friends, although they shared very different feelings for each other.

He loved her, with all his heart and soul, but she rarely payed much attention to him in a romantic sense. He found himself spending all his time attempting amazing feats and performing a multitude of tasks to try and get her to notice his affection for her. He eventually became obsessed with her, he wouldn't think about anything else but her, and what he could do for her.

While it started off as just love, it got a lot deeper and darker. He became very overprotective and angry, he would often sabotage any other relationships she got into, and scared off most people. He fought for her, and became a bannerman for her family at a young age. He bought her jewelry and an assortment of over trinkets for her whenever he could. Although none of this ever seemed to win her heart.

She eventually fell in love with another man, and he became depressed and angry. He rarely ever spoke to her and started seeing her less and less. His obsession sky rocketed, and he ended up buying a large red stone, on a golden chain. He was planning on winning her over with this, after his plan was complete.

His plan, was to assassinate her current love interest, who she was now engaged to. He plotted for months but was eventually found out. She announced she would never want to see or speak with him again, which is where he finally snapped.

In that building, a very large wooden building, he decided if he could not have her, no one could. He started the fire, but quickly reconsidered and realized his mistake. The rest made it out, but he was trapped in the inferno. His screams, hopeless echoes calling for his friend and his love, resonated through the burning building as he perished. Calling for his love, promising he would find her, and show just how much he really cared.

Write an open-ended encounter of your choice that involves your Graven interacting with a living person (doesn't need to be longer than a paragraph, if you aren't into heavy writing):

As a young, elven woman walked down the street, the distant calls and sobbing of a dying man could be heard. She quickens her pace, checking corners and dark places, feeling a bit creeped out. As she moves, small red eyes peer out from the shadows, watching her and waiting.

Not noticing the eyes, the woman continues on her trek, unaware of the looming creature. Stalker watches from a distance, watching his love and wishing for her to return to him. He moves around, over low rooftops and through dark alleys, avoiding taking his eyes off the girl.

Small footsteps are heard, and the sound of claws scraping stone echoes from a distant location. Being alone still, the woman continues to quicken her walking, trying to at least get to another person before whatever is nearby finds her. Unfortunately, The Stalker had found her way before she knew of its presence.

Growing closer, Stalker’s movements had become louder, as from the shadows you could bright white claws from in the darkness. Moving slowly in front of her location, she would be walking right into him. Slowly he moves from his position to in front of her, his full slender form exposed. As she goes to scream, he smiles and grabs her throat in a clawed hand, he eyes narrowing and his fangs gleaming in the light.

She struggles, having trouble breathing in his grasp. He slowly turns her side to side, lifting her up into the air to examine her. He frowns, this isn't his love, his poor lost girl. He tosses her to the side, the young elf rolling as she lands. A dark aura surrounding him as he renews his energy to continue his search

The elf looks up to him as he stares back, his glowing red eyes returning to their oval shape. He smiles and waves goodbye with a clawed hand, turning to leave. He fades back into the void, black fire beginning to die down as he walks. He fades into the blackness of the night, his sobbing can still he heard in the distance.

In a sentence or less, why do you want to play a Graven character: This seems really cool. I saw the gravens in Abresi once and I started doing research and they seem like a lot of fun.
What roleplay do you feel you will bring to other players as a Graven: I will be the punisher of political corruption, so now even monarchs are restricted by the law and their word.
What ghost story, if any, is your Graven based on: I didn't knowingly base him on a ghost story.
Have you been accepted for a VA or MA, and if so, how many times did it take to be accepted? If more than one separate application, please answer for all: I have had 2 characters with which I have applied for minor VAs and got accepted on my first try. My first character I tried to get a full VA for, but I got denied 2 times before he was permakilled.

Open Response Questions:
What is your Graven's unfulfilled duty:

He must fix the political corruption in the world and hold people to their word. He hopes to make the world one of equality even if not peace.

To what does your Graven most respond:

He responds to the laughter and happiness of nobles.

What, specifically, regenerates your Graven's energies (i.e. in what way is its duty fulfilled):

He regenerates energies by finding, torturing, and killing the powerful. He also does this to those that think they are above the law.

What are some typical signs of your Graven manifesting:

The sound of rich, corrupt nobles laughing and having a good time which then quickly switches to their screams of terror and agony.

Write a short (2-3 paragraphs) biography of your Graven's first life:

Grigory was a halfling that worked for Oren's farms. He had grown up on the farms, and it was a simple life that he enjoyed. He knew most of the other farmers there and while they complained a little bit it was mostly groundless. It was groundless until a new king took the throne. He did not think the farmers were that valuable and started to allow his guards and men to go through the farms and do whatever they wanted. They would take food, burn down houses, and they would kidnap women.

Grigory was just as tired of this as all the other farmers. They decided they would no longer send the king their food, but they needed a spokesperson. They chose Grigory to be their spokesperson. He went to the king and told him of the events, but the king did not think that they relied on the farms that much so he did nothing about it.  A few weeks went by when a letter from the king came for Grigory. He was asked to come to the palace and speak with him. Grigory went and they spoke, and it was decided that things would return to the way they were on the farms before the new king came about. The farms went back to normal, but there was one change. Grigory no longer felt satisfied working on the farms. He had felt his true calling was righting the wrongful acts done by the government. He became the new spokesman for the people. He cost the king much comfort in exchange for the happiness of the citizens.

Grigory was one day working on getting the king to allow the miners to take longer breaks from mining when the king decided it had been enough. He had Grigory come to the palace as he had many times before to discuss the terms, but this time when he got there he was grabbed by guards and taken to the dungeon. He was tortured for a week before he was finally killed. His head was then put on a pike with a note saying things would return to the way they were before Grigory was around.

Vengeance: You should not try that

The noble holds his sword pointed at him

Noble:Who are you and how did you get in here?

Vengeance:Who I am is unimportant. Who you are is what is important.

Vengeance reaches for his collar

The noble swings his sword cutting Vengeance's midsection

Vengeance grabs the noble's collar and looks deep into his eyes

In a sentence or less, why do you want to play a Graven character: I have RPed with a Graven several times, and every time I have thoroughly enjoyed doing so, and so I imagined that actually being one would be even better.

What roleplay do you feel you will bring to other players as a Graven: I think that as a Graven, I could often interrupt any peaceful periods in large cities and bring together a large group of people who have one objective: getting rid of me. I think that doing so would be a great service to other players, as I find that during these peaceful times RP can get very stagnant and quite frankly, boring.

What ghost story, if any, is your Graven based on: I have not based my Graven on a ghost story.

Have you been accepted for a VA or MA, and if so, how many times did it take to be accepted? If more than one separate application, please answer for all:
I have not been accepted for either,

Open Response Questions:

What is your Graven's unfulfilled duty: To rid the world of any heathens who would disrespect or spread heresy about the Creator, or believe in some other god(s).

To what does your Graven most respond: Any mention of the Creator in a negative light e.g. Someone claiming that their god(s) is the one true god(s), over the Creator.

What, specifically, regenerates your Graven's energies (i.e. in what way is its duty fulfilled): Bringing pain to heathens, such as Orcs, who disrespect the name of, or choose not to believe in the Creator.

What are some typical signs of your Graven manifesting: A sense of unease and nervousness would fill the hearts of anyone nearby who does not worship/praise the Creator, then any nearby source of light, excluding the Sun, would be put out. Later on during manifestation, a bright, literally blinding light would appear, and then disappear after a few seconds, after which I would be in the light's spot.

Write a short (2-3 paragraphs) biography of your Graven's first life:

Bishop in his first life had lived fairly well. He grew up in a family that was not rich, but was still relatively well off, and had never experienced much hardship in his early life. His parents were active members of the faith, and they would regularly attend church. Bishop was inspired by the stories of the Creator and what He had done, and did, for his children, and would often stay behind after mass to hear more about Him.

It was not surprising then, to anyone who knew him, that once he reached the right age, that he almost immediately went to become a Priest of the Creator. The local Church welcomed him with open arms, who had seen Bishop's strong faith, and respected it. There he proved himself to be a very apt member of the Clergy, and soon the local townspeople grew to love and respect him for the messages he brought, and the things he taught, about the Creator.

The Clergy must have also been impressed, because only a few years after his time working as a Priest, he received a letter notifying him that he was to become the Bishop of a whole County. Thankful for this opportunity, he accepted wholeheartedly, and his fellow Priests, and many of the townspeople, back at his home town wished him all the best at his new placement. And that luck must have gone with him, because life being a Bishop was fantastic for...Bishop. He had the respect of hundreds of people because of his strong faith, and every day he would thank the Creator for what he had been given.

However, one day, that luck ran out. He was on his way to another County, as he had in short, been asked to "show them how it's done". But he never made it there. He was jumped by a group of Iblees worshipers on the way there, and they were searching for a sacrifice to honour him. He was taken to their den, where he was bled out slowly, and very painfully. As the last few drops of blood left his body, and he drew his last breath, he had one thought.

Righteous vengeance would befall their kind.

Pirates or Ninjas: Ninjas, duh.

Write an open-ended encounter of your choice that involves your Graven interacting with a living person (doesn't need to be longer than a paragraph, if you aren't into heavy writing):

As a group of heathen scum were preparing to sacrifice a lamb to their dark lord Iblees, they all suddenly felt very nervous about what they were doing. Soon after, their specially-prepared blood candles went out, and fear struck all of their hearts, but they continued with their blasphemous ritual nonetheless, although their heretical speeches were now closer to mutters. A minute or so later, a bright light appeared behind them all, some looked and were permanently blinded, others remained still, like a rabbit in headlights. Once the light cleared, almost all of the non-blinded ritualists, of which there were only two or three remaining, turned to where it had previously been, and they only saw a Graven clad in a Bishop's apparel.

One of them turned and ran at the sight of Bishop, too fearful to stay even in the same room as him. The other two stayed, and drew their blades: ceremonial daggers, hardly fit to kill a man, much less an immortal ethereal being. Bishop drew his own blade, one he had been given as a gift from the reigning noble of his County: a blade that was appeared to be made of silver and gold, however they were both just light, decorational plating over the steel of the weapon.. The more zealous of them charged first, although he was a poor fighter with a poor weapon, and was slain in a matter of seconds. The other one didn't charge, but didn't run either, most likely two scared to turn his back on Bishop. In doing so he had gave himself a fate almost worse than death. Bishop smiled lightly as he began to work his Graven Stare upon him. Within a minute, he had been driven completely insane by the Stare. The rest of the heretics were unable to commit heresy any longer, their blindness preventing them from doing anything in the name of Iblees, and so he let them be in their stinking den, and demanifested soon after.

Graven Name/Title: The Highwayman / The Groundskeeper. The Graven is more commonly known as the former of his titles, for his infamous role in the afterlife.
In a sentence or less, why do you want to play a Graven character:  Well, I've seen a lot of Graven RP, and have seen your lore. It's really interesting, and it'll be cool to play one.
What roleplay do you feel you will bring to other players as a Graven:
What ghost story, if any, is your Graven based on: The Highwayman is not based on a single ghost story or tale, but more based on the stories of phantom vigilantes, continuing to perform their duties after death.
Have you been accepted for a VA or MA, and if so, how many times did it take to be accepted? If more than one separate application, please answer for all: My first character, Samuel, was accepted for his first VA for 1abc, 2ac, and 3a, on my first try. This has been my only VA so far.

Open Response Questions:
What is your Graven's unfulfilled duty: In life, the Highwayman was a member of a band of soldiers dedicated to protecting the lands of Anthos from crime. Even after death, he sets out to diminish the criminal activity from the lands, as in the Graven's eyes it is a duty that is never fully fulfilled.

To what does your Graven most respond: The Highwayman reacts mostly to innocents in plight, the sight or sounds of bandits, and quarrels. These are the main reasons that the Highwayman manifests.

What, specifically, regenerates your Graven's energies (i.e. in what way is its duty fulfilled): When he stops a violent action from taking place, instead changing the course of said action into a peaceful outcome.

What are some typical signs of your Graven manifesting: The sounds of hooves clapping on stone, heard very faintly and dimly, as if a daydream. Following this, usually the wind will pick up to a howl, no matter the weather, and a slight green glow will begin to manifest. This spectral fire slowly takes the shape of a skeletal figure clad in burning flame, with dark, pitiless eyes.

Write a short (2-3 paragraphs) biography of your Graven's first life: Long before the third realm, Anthos, was discovered by the nomadic people of Asulon, there lived smaller races of dwellers on the continent. These days were full of war, conflict, and strife - but there was a group of brave men, dedicated to keeping the violence in Early Anthos down. These men were referred to as Groundskeepers, and as ancient-day Sheriffs, their duties were to protect the villages.

The leader of these courageous figures was a man, his name long forgotten through centuries of wandering. He was a just individual, and sought out wrong-doers to give them proper justice. He was around the middle of his life when it came to an abrupt end - the Groundskeepers ambushed violently by bandits, killing them all, and plunging Early Anthos into chaos with their protectors gone. The last of the men to die in this skirmish was their leader.

Shortly after death, his angered spirit traveled Anthos for centuries, watching the island grow into a nation, seeing many wars and kings pass in his time. Still frustrated he was unable to continue his work of keeping the lands safe even after death, he traveled the lonely roads of the realm forlornly, watching many murders and lives pass in the blink of an eye helplessly. Soon enough, the Graven's anger grew insatiable, and he gained the ability to manifest into the world ...

Pirates or Ninjas: Y'ARRRRRR~

Write an open-ended encounter of your choice that involves your Graven interacting with a living person (doesn't need to be longer than a paragraph, if you aren't into heavy writing): A young boy bolts through the thick brush, a small bag of coins dangling wildly from his belt. The moonlight shines down on the skittish child, and he turns around - the sound of angry voices following him, torchlight in the distance. The bandits were close on his tail.

As the lad continued to sprint, he came into an open clearing, and stopped, doubling over and panting. As he spun around, disorientated, the young boy whirled around, whimpering in a scared manner. A thin, holographic green light seemed to swoop in and out of the trees at the corner of his eye, and the wind seemed to carry whispers, and the boy turned, continuing to run out of fear. A loose root snagged his foot, sending him flying with a grunt.

"Eheheheh ... found ye', laddie! Ya' shouldn't've run, eh? Maybe we wouldn't've gutted ya' ..." Two men emerge from the brush around the clearing, sauntering over to the child with shark-like grins. One twirls a dagger in his hand, as he approaches the boy. "And so close to freedom, so close to the road ..." mocks the first man, and the boy scrambles backwards on his hands and knees, awaiting the dagger thrusting into his fragile form.

"Hold." The booming, ethereal voice breaks the eerie silence of the night, and the two bandits stop dead in their tracks. The green aura from earlier snaps down from a tree, and slowly begins to manifest into a horrible-looking creature - dark, skeletal bones, coated in a spectral green flame, with a dark skull hosting bodiless eyes at it's head. It raises a bony hand, and the first bandit shrieks, taking off deeper into the forest, followed by his sputtering partner.

The lad stares up at the creature, his face damp with tears. He brings up his hands to shield himself, curling up. The Graven's head droops to the child, denoting some sort of sympathy. He extends a skeletal figure, pointing it to his left - where a cobblestone path is seen on the other side of the clearing. "Go," speaks the hooded skull upon it's shoulders, before fading away to nothing, no evidence of it ever being there a moment before seen. The child rises to his feet, and without hesitation, takes off to the Highway.

Graven Name/Title: Airtum, the Crucified Gravekeeper.

Screenshot of skin to be used:  YosmtAt.jpg

In a sentence or less, why do you want to play a Graven character: The experience seems extremely unique for starters, not only that, but this 'Graven' role allows the job of entertaining and gathering players for RP much easier.

What roleplay do you feel you will bring to other players as a Graven: I intend to bring an intimidating, fearful experience to players, while not going out of my way to murder, it will be similar to the Graven "Hunter" in that they are combat oriented and full of hatred, malice, and so forth, yet they'll only attack if provoked, or angered to a certain extent. Aware of himself, he looks down at normal 'mortals', although obviously, he can still die, but has a high sense of pride.

What ghost story, if any, is your Graven based on:  Long faded rumours of a Gravekeeper in Malinor, of Dark Elven decent, crucified in the graveyard on a tombstone, barely a soul would know of this, for time has shrouded it, and little spoke of the event.

Have you been accepted for a VA or MA, and if so, how many times did it take to be accepted? If more than one separate application, please answer for all: Aeyrius:
First Attempt: Denied
Second: Accepted.

Uyrgut:
Three denies, I clearly wasn't passionate about what I wanted.

Open Response Questions:
What is your Graven's unfulfilled duty:  Burying the dead, in the moments during death, spite lurked his mind, Airtum hated the world that he lived in, and punishes those who believe they are strong.

To what does your Graven most respond: The death of many 'weak' people, or the death of a strong being/person.

What, specifically, regenerates your Graven's energies (i.e. in what way is its duty fulfilled): The bodies of weak individuals regenerates part of his energy, the body of someone who has accomplished great deeds regenerates a large quantity.

What are some typical signs of your Graven manifesting: Both Flora and Fauna begin to turn red, blood slowly leaking from any opening on both classes, the blood would work it's way into the soil or ground, as an illusion, setting itself at peace. The sky above darkens, the eyes of creatures turn a solid, get black as they bleed. A sight of horror indeed.

Write a short (2-3 paragraphs) biography of your Graven's first life: Airtum, cast off by his own kind, for communicating happily with their Mali'aheral relations. The world was a quiet place, at the time, death was from petty crime, age, or disease, there was little war and violence, but hatred existed. Thus the Dark Elf wished one thing, to bare the sins of the people, and send off those who died peacefully, and with the utmost honour.  So he simply became a volunteering graveskeeper, he wasn't even paid for the work he did, he simply built himself a home with permission outside of the graveyard, and dealt with the burying, and when things were quiet, he would pray for the dead.

It was a melancholy life, one that seeded with potential, but was restrained by mortality and emotion, longing for those who passed, Airtum failed to head into the future, so his routine began. After his fifteenth year as a graveskeeper, living of the kindness of other people, Airtum headed into the graveyard, far passed midnight. It was a friend from his childhood, Ker'celia, meaning Night Star. His friend was found to have been stabbed in the stomach, and left to bleed out in the vast forest, stripped of his belongings. Airtum fell to his knee in front of the grave, closing his eyes and clasping his hands together, biting his lip as thoughts scattered his mind. Airtum eventually reached behind him, taking a gently, red rose, flicking up an inch of dirt, and planting it in front of the grave silently. This is when the whispers began.

Airtum looked up, and to both his sides, and even behind him, failing to see anything, Airtum shook his head, scratching his hair as he tried to drown the sound out, failing miserably. Airtum grasped the tombstone in front of him, inhaling deeply as he tried to calm himself, giggling slightly,

"S"So"So after all these years, /this/ is how I lose my mind...?"

Suddenly, a force grasped his neck from behind, raising him slowly off of the ground, and turning him around, Airtum shivered violently as two red eyes stared at him, captivating his frenzied stare, there stood a Graven.

"You have no future..." Was the only words he heard clearly before the stares effect began to reach him.

Airtum shook his head from side to side as his body slammed against his friends tombstone. Immediately after, piles blasted through his wrists and ankles, and he hung there screaming and swinging his head from side to side, a laugh escaping through his twisted mind. At this point, spikes began impaling into his stomach, each time his eyes would widen further, as his sane mind crept forward one last time, thinking it's last thoughts, than Airtum's eyes closed, and his head drooped forward slowly.

Pirates or Ninjas: N I N J A ' S.

Write an open-ended encounter of your choice that involves your Graven interacting with a living person (doesn't need to be longer than a paragraph, if you aren't into heavy writing): It's  5:53AM when I do these things, and I haven't slept, so I'll keep it short to avoid mistakes.))

Airtum stood silently where he was, his mind blank as he rested both of his  ethereal palms over the hilt of the large Ax/shovel hybrid, before his head rung, and he looked up.

The funeral recession was ruined.

Airtum began to  Manifest, his hands still resting on the hilt of the tool as screams erupted from the crowd, the casket being dropped to the ground, and the body rolling out onto it's front. Some pulled out weapons, others scattered.  Shouts erupted towards Airtum as he stared silently around them, taking an unspoken pleasure as they began to lose their minds, one turned to their right, swinging blindly at the crowd. Death of many pursued, and those that did not escape lay along with the original body, Airtum simply standing there. Once all was quiet, he lifted the tool, starting to dig holes for each body, and hours later would he demanifest, having done his duty.

What is your Graven's unfulfilled duty:

What does a clown give to the world? Laughter… but what happens when the clown does not get any laughter? He is a failure… it can ruin someones mind to fail at what they put all his strength and might into.

To what does your Graven most respond: Laughter, the sound of joy in its truest state.

What, specifically, regenerates your Graven's energies (i.e. in what way is its duty fulfilled)

“Laughter is the best medicine but no one said anything about ghosts.”

Being shunned as a clown in his life laughter was the one thing he craved so it would make sense that he craved would regenerate him. But how does a Graven make someone laugh? Well… no true laugh can be made on the ghostly clowns demand, but who said anything about real laughter? Forced will do just fine.

What are some typical signs of your Graven manifesting:

The sound of an off party in the distant a collaboration of instruments with an off putting touch. Laughter unsensual laughter, laughter like no man has ever heard it. A stream of pitch black smoke rising from the ground that is when the Spector clown appears.

Write a short (2-3 paragraphs) biography of your Graven's first life:

Life? Life? If that is what you could call it. He was born onto a farm nothing special nothing greater he was a mere name in the countless sea of names, his life was nothing special a mere farmers son with nothing to look forward to but the tending of crops.

But what would happen if an idea was placed in that child’s head? Upon some note-full day he had an idea, an idea that would save him from this life, a childish dream… leaving his home with such an idea sneaking out under the veil of darkness to enact the first steps of his journey he would be a “performer” a person who would grace the people of Anthos with laughter and joy…

But things did not go as planned for such a person, his untrained skills at a performer left him without a mina to his name if he had some mina to start off with. Bubbling about did this “performer” do doing half sided jokes and off-tricks, he soon met his faint to simple cause fatigue and illness plagued him but that did not halt his grand show, for if he gave up now it would all be but a lie…

Pirates or Ninjas or clowns: Clown duh! Don’t pretend it wasn’t there.

Write an open-ended encounter of your choice that involves your Graven interacting with a living person (doesn't need to be longer than a paragraph, if you aren't into heavy writing):

The sound of a party plagues the distance, it’s sound drawing near as you climb the road of the nearby town. “Must be a night to rejoice”  your breath picking up in the frozen air, a distant cry of laughter echoing through the air a sudden cold chill running down your already frozen body.

“What was that!? These nights be plagued with such odd sounds, hope no Eldridge horrors get me” your joking attitude getting through your tinge of fear but as you reach the end of town a black shroud of smoke forms in the air before you, your eyes growing wide for such Eldridge horrors did find you. A boney skeletal hand reach forth a faint unnatural glow tinged around it, it’s thin figure crawling out of the smoke like a monster from your worst of nightmares. Draped in blackened clothing with odd thrills protruding from its attire, its ghostly white face laced with hysterical smile.

Running! Running! Running! Do you bolt faster then any arrow you ran, your heart jolting in your chest in vain attempt to escape you…

You escaped but how many others can say that?

So many unique Graven, can't wait to RP with you all. We should try and start a Skype chat or team speak channel.

After haunting for two days now, every single person has given me wonderful feedback. I get so many nice comments and it makes me want to play my character even more! Thanks to everyone I have RPed with so far, and thanks to Grim for creating these wonderful characters. It's too bad recruitment has closed.
