Finally, Pvp Is Default

No, PVP is default... you have to PVP, but there must be sufficient roleplay beforehand. In the past, you could force your RP fight on him instead, but now it's the opposite way around. Although, it's probably best in the first place to not be adamant about things to the point where it causes problems...

Beating a child is easier in a RP fight than a PVP fight. So if someone was truly item-hungry they'd agree with your choice, amirite?

That's crap man. And you know it. He could whip out an Iron sword and beat the snot out of him in 3 swings, take his stuff and walk off whistling a happy tune. Where's the point in Va's if that's all you have to do?

I never really agreed with the RP default rule in the first place so this certainly seems like a change for the better in my eyes. You'll get a few people trolling but in the end, whether you prefer PvP or RP fighting has no effect upon a player's RP capability whatsoever. To those who are so fiercely against it, I reiterate what other people have already stated. Just give it a chance and see how things go.

There are many factors that may have contributed to the server's decline; we recognize that and we are working on them one by one. This is one of them. You can't change what you tolerate and there's no way for us to determine what our problem areas truly are unless we're willing to shake things up now and then and try some different approaches to things. You have to be able to embrace these changes without curling into the fetal position and crying out that the world is over. Those of us that have been around for two years now have endured many changes that we dislike and there will be many more to come. You just have to roll with them. Improving the server is a constant effort and we're not going to be able to please every player all of the time.

I'll give it a shot, after thinking about this.

 

Don't get me wrong, I still think it's possibly one of the most dangerous and disastrous decisions ever made on this server and it should actually have some more thought put into it, but if it's managed well, it might be okay.

 

Also the GMs and Admins should recognize that it's not just about who wants what more, but what's fair.

So If I play an animal or a child I can be pvp'd, and my animal can be killed because I can't use weapons on an animal.....This makes no sense.  Well good bye animal RP.

The point of roleplay is to be creative, to use your imagination. If you're playing an animal who is capable of putting up a fight (bear, badger, jaguar, etc.) then you can easily roleplay your armor or weaponry as a thick pelt and claws/teeth. If you're playing an animal that can't fight in the first place, then simply flee.

Take a step back, go outside and breathe a little, then sleep this off. Come back in two days after playing on the server and then formulate a measured response. Stamping your foot isn't going to do anything but scuff your shoe.

Also, will the tech team be looking into why the server has been lagging as of recently. Ever since the battle with the Antags at Castle Greywyn, the server seems to be lagging worse than it ever has. I noticed it most yesterday, near the end of the battle with the Antags at the Son's of the Creator's Castle. It seems to be getting worse.

Why are you so... bitter? Do you think you know more than the staff that put in 70-80+ hours a week (unpaid)? I deal with every single group on the server. The "terrible trolls", the "pvp shitheads", the "uptight rp purists"... I know what people think on both sides. I also know what's best for the server, seeing as how I've been here since day uno. I've seen it through all its up and downs, I've offered pages upon pages of feedback, I've spent hours upon hours upon days upon weeks upon months of cleaning up messes...

 

IDK where I'm even going with this post... just trust us, eh? I don't spend all the time I do just to get told 'idk what I'm doing, you don't know what's best for us!111'.
