A Cold Death

As the gleaming sun begins to set and the last sliver of radiant light peaks above the cathedral, the prosperous city of Abresi concludes one of the last days it will be inhabited by pure hearts. As the days pass, every night appears darker, and the days of light appear shorter. Torches flicker from an unknown and unseen breeze, and fireplaces dim mysteriously. The temperature of nightfall plummets to an all-time low; each breath citizens take are a struggle as the cold gasps slither down their nervous throats, as if an invisible hand is reaching down inside. The occasional hooded figure shuffles down the streets, speaking with mysterious words and phrases. A dark, freezing cloud of fog begins to settle above the seemingly peaceful city, with tendrils of black smoke spiraling down to the earth in shifting districts. As time progresses, the flames of fires and torches in the city begin to flicker blue, until they finally appear altered to a distinct blue flame. Black fog litters the earth near the blue flames, and it is unnervingly cold. The presence of the flame also no longer appears to warm those nearby, but freeze. Clusters of ice gather on the surfaces that surround the flames, and the ground begins to feel distinctly colder. The clouds of black smoke continue to crawl along the city square's surface, but the strange occurrence is unexpectedly interrupted. The black smoke quickly ignites into freezing blue flames, and the resulting flames appear to spell out numerous letters on the stone brick floor of the city square.

The time of the event has been revealed to the corresponding leaders of Abresi. If they wish to reveal the exact time, it is up to them, although it would be nice to avoid as much meta-gaming as possible (even if it isn't really possible). RP regarding the above post is valid, though.
