Maelstorm’s Madness The madness of a Maelstorm is one that few people know, but those crazy redheads do know how to have a good time. This tall, chilled glass is filled with gin, tequila, rum, vodka and lemon juice mixed into a fruit punch over ice! Winter Wolf A dark brown ale served in a tall, curving glass. The ale is heavy and has an almost syrupy consistency. The taste is incredibly sweet with a bitter aftertaste. There is a fruity, almost floral overtone to the taste. The taste and smell of wintergreen resonate through your sinuses. There is no head to this ale, just a fuzzy feeling that your senses seem to disappear into. This drink is full-bodied and will warm you from the inside. It is not a subtle drink, but rather one to consume in large quantities. Acid Bath Swirling around with a top layer of small ice blocks, this light green liquor sheens with an almost jade-like coloring fading into a dodger blue hue. This drink would have a warning attached to it, "Be wary of the damage this liquor would bring." Drinks included in this beverage: vodka, gin, silver-blue agave distilled beverage, white rum, a blue liqueur made from orange peels and spices with natural food coloring, lemon juice, and a dash of CONCENTRATED white tea. The barkeep serves the beverage cold with a layer of small ice cubes, pours the liquid into a tall glass with a slice of lemon for garnish, and stirs the cocktail with a swish. With a swig, you would observe the brilliant color of the mix, taste the aggressive citrus sweet zest concealing the amount of liquor, hear your rapid heartbeat, and feel the burn of the vodka as it leaks down your throat. The liquor's sting is as refreshing as a breeze on a blazing summer day. Lady of the Lake A mostly clear liquid with a slight teal, ocean blue color swirls around three blocks of ice. A pristine, mixed drink combines quality citrusy gin, light semi sweet tonic water soaked in medicinal bark, large ice cubes, fresh lemon peel, and butterfly blue pea flower powder. The mixture between the gin and tonic should be around 50:50 and add to have a refreshing balance between the citrus-juniper flavor and the bittersweet essence of the cinchona sprig. The peel would be stirred into the drink, twirling in a whirl and sinking towards oblivion. The Black Dahlia The Black Dahlia flower has a beautiful deep, dark purple-maroon hue. This drink attempts to capture the essence of such a unique plant. The preparation itself demonstrates the strive for perfection this idyllic plant represents. The ingredients for the cocktail are fresh blackberries, sugar cubes, lemon juice, gin, vodka, and a bisected cube of ice. The drink describes the nature of a young bloom, a naïve, syrupy sweetness flowering in your mouth. As dreams were cut short, the beverage's flavor would abruptly transform from saccharine to the bitter, sour realization of what reality has to offer. The final sip portrayed the burning gasp of what was a last, dying breath, desperately clutching on life. Goodnight Kiss A deep scarlet drink transforms into a velvet-rich hue. This cocktail combines an ounce of scotch, a pinch of smoked bitter botanicals, a hint of smoky apricot flavor, a dash of a sweet almond-flavored creamy blend of liquor, and a syrupy bittersweet-flavored liqueur with a light citrus tang. Pouring the cocktail into a closed mason jar, the bartender places the jug into a sealable white oak box with a smoker underneath. THE VORTICIAN TRADE FAIRE Women browsing amongst a local florist's spread of goods. Throughout Vortice’s history, trade has always been at the nation’s core- a staple into its longevity. Hosting a city against a port has always encouraged a colorful cast of traders and travelers. No matter nation or creed, Vortice welcomes those from all walks of life to enjoy a day of celebration and commerce for our first of many trade faires in the new world. THE FREE MARKETPLACE A fisherman peddling his wares. With the faire being open to all, the Vortician Council encourages everyone to do what the State is best known for: trading and selling. Temporary stalls will be set up throughout the city square for use, and a competition between traders will be held. Whomever sells the most items in a day will win a prize, showing their true prowess as a merchant. A small fee will be charged to those who wish to display their wares, dependant on the location of said stall, though we have no doubt you’ll at least double. No more than a simple 10 mina fee for merchants who are interested in setting up shop during the fair. TAVERN NIGHT A depiction of the denizens of Vortice enjoying the company of a bard, parlaying the previous tavern in Almaris. Come fairtime, Vortice’s Whirling Chalice tavern finds itself full of life with the regulars and travelers searching for food and drink amongst the festivities. At all times, there will be open access to the Whirling Chalice - drink, food, and most importantly, conversation. Perhaps if you’re persuasive enough, you might convince the pub tender to put it on the house. FESTIVITIES AND REFRESHMENTS Artwork of two men playing chess together. In addition to the drinks of the tavern, refreshments should be in abundance as each trader will bring their own wares, often encouraging them to bring forth food of their cultures, in order to prepare fresh for you. To top off the myriad of offerings, the Vortician Council will be providing a few festivities to entertain yourselves with, within the game room below the square. Chess, Tic Tac Toe, 4-in-a-row, darts, and Haenseti chess will all be available for you to entertain yourself with. The booths and stalls provided by the Vortician Council are going to be limited, and are expected to fill out fast, so if you’re interested in securing your place at the faire, contact Aerith Maelstorm, Lenora Jusmia, or Wes Vertesk to get yourself squared. As Aerith sat across from Gusiam, having just watched him pull out a comedically large book from.... behind his chair, apparently, the missive blew into the room somehow. She read through it, grumbling. "A f-cking war code? Seriously? They give me such a headache..."

The Maelstorm Family coat of arms To the Maelstormic Society, I, Aerith Majin-Maelstorm, direct heir to the late Vivian Maelstorm, hereby denounce your brutish ways and demand that you relinquish any hold that you THINK you have to the Maelstorm name. The Maelstorms are smiths, wealth managers, librarians and soldiers, not bandits raiding the cities their families built. The city you now attempt to attack is, in part, built by your beloved Vivian, my late mother, who spent countless days and hours helping to create a home for her, her family, and friends. Whilst she may have been misguided in her leadership as a previous monarch, schizophrenic, unknowing and paranoid as she was, she would not want to see her home destroyed. You believe that there is some kind of throne to be reclaimed, but do you know the true history of Vortice? One would doubt so. Despite never living to experience the city prior to my mother’s reign, I’ve done my research and spoken to previous residents. The Domain of Vortice was once a reformed pirate cove in the land of Arcas named as Talon’s Grotto, with a sovereign leading rather than a monarch, and from what I hear, the Jusmia and Medii’la families have been around the longest, having helped to form the city back in Arcas, and even now sticking around to take care of the city. There is no claim to any “Throne” you speak of, much less a golden throne. And even if there was, none of you want-to-be “aristocrats” would be next in line for it, as none of you have had any stake in anything relating to the Grotto, to the Port, or to the great Domain herself. Save yourself the embarrassment. If you wish to discuss with me on this, in a much more private matter, where nobody else can see me decimate you lot with words alone, send me a correspondence and I may meet you in a public location. To others reading this, I want to reiterate to you all– The Maelstormic Society has no claim to any throne, nor is it associated in any way, shape, form or manner with the true Maelstorm name. While Aerith continued to look for her late mother's belongings, she caught wind of the event and missive and chuckled. This is exactly what she was talking about when she had wrote her own missive, disowning these disgraced bandits running about using the Maelstorm name all willy-nilly. "Despicable, honestly. They've no shame nor any common sense. There is no such thing as heirs to the throne in Vortice. I have the original book stating what this city once was. Thank Malin for my mother's sense of preservation for books, if nothing else..." As the elfess grumbled, continuing on her work, the missive was swept away and forgotten.

A Reclamation of the Maelstorm Name [!] A missive with the long-since besmirched name of a has-been monarch written upon it would be passed along to those who cared. [!] The TRUE Maelstorm coat of arms, as designed by Vivian Maelstorm circa 1789 It has come to my attention that the grandchild, named as James Maelstorm, of the deceased monarch of Vortice, Vivian Maelstorm, has claimed to be the sole remaining male and patriarch of a dominantly female-lead family, as well as has nullified the late Vivian’s disownment and disinheritance of the disgraced Peralien. Whilst Vivian may not have been the best ruler, nor was she the most sane person, her good name as a self made woman in the land of Almaris, does not deserve the besmirchment that it has endured in the last few months. If Vivian were still alive, she would be ashamed to see her own grandchildren acting out the way they have, especially in the manner of turning against their home city of Vortice. To the Jusmia family, I apologize from the bottom of my heart on behalf of the Maelstorm name for the suffering that you may have endured since the passing of the late Vivian, as well as the stress you have been placed under within these last several months with the disgraced, tasteless clods. With this missive, I, Aerith Majin-Maelstorm, the daughter and sole willing matriarch to the Maelstorm family name, have publicly decided to denounce and disown my nephew, James Maelstorm, and the dishonorable Peralien, who has already been once disowned and denounced. Any affiliation they have with the Maelstorm name is now severed and nullified, and any authority they claim to have as heirs or inheritors, is now rendered void. Aerith Majin-Maelstorm

A young 'aheral, skulking about the roads of the warring nations, overheard the news of the so-called "Maelstormic" society, chuckling to herself. if anyone were to be the rightful monarch or heir to the throne of Vortice, it would be her. But did she care? ..Not too terribly. "Really now... the Maelstormic Society.... they act as if our name has any form of aristocracy. Leave my mother's name be for once," she scoffed. "I swear, my mother would be laughing her ass off at this..."

In the dead of the night, a hooded figure snuck into numerous buildings in the Vortice capital city of Talon's Port... Nothing was taken, however some choice homes would find notes placed atop spots where the council members would have no choice but to see. Once this task was finished, the hooded figure made their way to the top of the Alley Alehouse, not bothering to lock the doors of the rooftop. The figure sat upon the wedding stage, sighing and dropping their cloak, revealing a de-crowned Vivian Maelstorm, her face reddened and puffy, running mascara covering her cheeks as she withdrew a moonsteel dagger from her waist-sheathe. “....Syl always told me that elves would last hundreds of years before devolving into madness… well, I guess that wasn’t the case with me, huh?” The short ‘aheral chuckled dryly, her free hand lofting to remove a final note from her bosom. “...Maybe one day, everybody can forgive me.” Another tear fell from her real eye as she set the note gently against the ground, away from where she had planned to die. As she did such, a tinge of hurt shot through her core. The woman had lost so many in such a short amount of time… how selfish was she, to take her life at this, when so many others had suffered so much more! She grit her teeth as she sat back down upon the stage, deliberating upon her next course of action as memories flooded into her mind. Her wedding with Joakim af Orvar… How they married under the Heart Tree. The birth of Dana and Corrin af Orvar. Her short-standing marriage to Seryne, and how horribly that turned out in the two years they spent together. Her thirty something year long marriage to Eoghan O’Cathain, the wedding they had within the settlement of Talon’s Grotto, and her children- Eliott, Lilith, and Seteth… Two of which were now dead. Her marriage to Sylvain Ainzworth Majin, and their many, many children… those of whom the pair had adopted, and those of whom the pair had produced of their own blood. She choked back a sob as she remembered the pain the pair had endured together. Her sisters, Athri, Lenora, and Sana, and the love they shared… Her brothers, Gail, Ren and James, and the laughs they had... her best friend, Eugeo, and the secrets they had kept together… her many children, two in particular stuck out in her memory- they were only thirty four, how could they live with the loss of their mother? Mystralath and Belladonna were both old enough that they would remember Vivian forever more- unlike Fable, Claude and Aer, who were still mere babes and had hardly spent any time with Vivian. The red-headed monarch sobbed again as she raised the dagger, staring up to the sky in emotional agony… before plunging the blade into her chest, taking the moonsteel directly to the heart. After a few seconds, the elfess slumped down, the colour draining from her once purple eye as tears fell, her hands dropping from the hilt of the blade and down to her lap as she fell to her side, dead. Inside the note, when she were to be found, was a single paragraph, reading as follows. “To my people, to my family, to my friends… I have loved you all so dearly, but it is my time to depart now. I bid thee farewell and I hope to meet you all again in another time. You are all so important in your own ways. As of the Deep Cold of the 35th year, I wish for Athri Onfroi Belrose-Maelstorm to carry on the Monarchy of the Unified Domain of Vortice on my behalf, and to be crowned as the Heir Monarch by the Congress. Thank you all for your time. Vivian Maelstorm”

Join us in the Alley Alehouse on the Amber Cold of the 35th year of the second age for a joyous event! Hosted in the Vortice capital city of Talon’s Port by the Congress of the Monarch, the party will include a wide range of alcoholic choices, games, and delectable food for purchasing. Below is described a few games that will be ran during the event! Competitive darts A game of skill in which the participants shall take turns throwing three darts at the board, Highest scoring individual of the night will win a free drink of their choice from the bar. Iblees coin A deceitfully difficult game in which players will take turns trying to throw mina across the table and land a coin in each of the opponents five shot glasses. Each coin made in your glass requires you to slam the shot. If party goers are interested a tournament may be organized but otherwise this will be done on a person to person basis. Tavern Brawl As the name suggests that the roof of the tavern will be used for brawls. An ''alleged'' safe place to show just how great of a fighter that drink says you are. Bets can be placed or simply just a friendly event of slamming each other with chairs. Individuals with the most wins at the end of the event shall get 150 mina and free drinks for the following elven week. These selections are just to name a few of the attractions offered at the Port. The only restriction imposed on attendance is the city will be strictly denying all weapons from entering the city. If you forget this and show up with one, the guards will gladly hold it for you till you leave. Elsewise all are free to attend no matter race, nation, or creed so long as they do not start any issues.
