I stopped playing LotC after getting tired of the hatred and toxicity, but this is such a massive step in the right direction, and one I never could have thought would happen. I've faced so much homophobia, transphobia, and racism in and out of character on this server, so this is so so so nice to see. Thank you <3 Also ha ha L love all the bigots outing themselves on the post saying bigotry isn't allowed

Charlotte stood against the railing at the fore of her ship as she read and re-read the letter. 'We all knew it was coming,' it said. 'You were smart, where I wasn't.' 'I don't know if you're alive. I hope you are.' She scoffed. 'I'm just a man.' "That's a damn poor excuse for dyin', lad. But I can't drag y'back from a ****-up like this." But that was the difference between the two, the Captain figured. She wasn't just a man. She grew more ancient by the day, but never frail. She took so many lives, but would never give her own up. She couldn't dare to lay down and accept her fate. Charlotte ordered her barebones crew to make the ship ready for sail, wondered if the best place to rekindle lost motivation was in the death of her favorite little disaster, and emptied an untouched glass of whiskey into the sea, where someone like Sydney Crawford belonged. Finally free with the waves and wind.

A lot of people don't trust staff because staff rarely do anything to earn people's trust. Sure, when someone is openly breaking the TOS then they get banned, but that's genuinely the bare minimum. And it doesn't stop just because the worst of the worst are removed. I'm sure nearly everyone, no matter their community or identity, faces constant toxicity, bigotry, and unprompted hate just because they exist, and the staff don't stop it. I've seen far more staff members participate in being horrible people than actively try to improve the server. And being part of any minority means you will get hate both in and out of roleplay for it. And then you just get told to make a report, even though that can often make just things worse by poor communication and safety measures from staff. Especially when the ban only lasts a short while before they're allowed to act all sentimental in an appeal and be allowed to continue on just fine. How many times have people like Gloonkey been banned for saying slurs at this point? It's a staff member's job to create a fun and safe environment on the server. And even if it is a voluntary job, it's just not done. And I know that it's a larger, systemic issue that can't be solved in the comments of a forum post (and certainly not with whatever the **** happened with the fake report), but it is an issue. And I've personally never even seen a moderation team member genuinely acknowledge how toxic this server's community is, let alone try to help fix it. With that said, I'm very glad that the issue with the fake screenshots was solved :) And I hope that, even if I'm actually wayyyy off base and being insane, somebody in a position of power listens

The Edict of The Constable | The Martiel Duana
Generi replied to __Stal27's topic in Laws & Government
A withering old Balianese woman read the missive over from her usual home beside her mother, her interest piqued by finally seeing a missive with a name she actually recognized. "Finally finished, is she?" She rasped to the woman laying still beside her. "I think you'd be damn proud of her. She did great things with her life, that one." And with creaking bones and significant struggle, Opal Roelle set off to find her lifelong friend for a celebratory drink. -

Maria Giavana gently smacked the princess in the back of the head. "Damn right. That is the way it should be."

"MAMEJ." Maria Vilac shouted out as she barged into her mother's office, missive waving wildly in one hand. "There's MORE EVIL PEOPLE. SOMEHOW." The girl complained with all her pent up teenage dramatics, while beginning to gesture to a certain scarecrow and start rambling. "Ea bet it's all connected. It's a conspiracy at this point! Maybe it even goes back tae Mar!" @_yink_

Maria Vilac stares in horror at the document. After quite a while of doing that, she questions the sexism of the guild-based restrictions and then burns all of her many law books, because nothing means anything.

A random elf reads the missive from the deck of her beached ship. "Aye... 'cause that went so well before." Charlotte hummed to herself as she toyed with an old, stolen Orenian bracelet. "Y'can't easily unite people who constantly try t'kill each other, bu' good luck tryin'." And with that, the page was thrown to the winds. Meanwhile in Balian, a young girl chimed in after her brother. "Ea bet it would never work... especially trying tae make one legal system work across so many realms." Maria Vilac muttered out. "But, Ari, vy could totally run tae be Empress Of Mankind." She added on as a little joke! "Ea believe in vy." @TotallyNotSaint@_yink_

"Ea knew it..." A young ginger in Balian murmured out as she spotted her not-dad's name within the missive.
