  1. "shut zhe **** up cousin" Aurik Bishop said, prior to slapping the man on the back of the head as he overheard the quartermaster's ramblings. "zhe truth vill reveal itself without your harrassments."
  2. why did you steal @TheosVult's name
  3. [!] Hopefully, a few half saint's days later, he would come across a strangely similar man by the description of the paper. and Boy, oh boy, did some of his limbs and fingers smell yummy. So the Olog's inner brain told him. [!] Though Aurik would prefer the man alive, however...
  4. /-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/ [!] A simple missive would be pinned to the noticeboard of every human nation in the northern, eastern, and southern reaches of Almaris. “Remember the Name; Melmor Chaoshand” This name, to be remembered by any who have interest, belongs to a criminal. Further, a man heinous in action, and unprudent in his judgement. For the crimes against well-meaning men of Waldenia, damage to properties, and the raising of arms against men and women of House Bishop and those under it’s protection, the following task is given to the investigators and swordsmen of Almaris; -+- Melmor Chaoshand is to be brought into the custody of the Barony of Ostervik. -+- Upon the receipt of his lifeless body, the deliverer will be awarded 250 Almaris Mina. Upon the receipt of his living, captive body, the deliverer will be awarded 800 Almaris Mina. May Godan guide the righteous hand of Justice /-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/ [!] On the back of the missive, a short description would be rendered Signed, Aurik Bishop, Baron of Ostervik, Baron-Consort of Gascony, Patriarch of Bishop Lord Atilan Viktor Bishop, Leiter von Martial, Squire of the Order of the Crow Cosima von Augusten, Viscountess of Hohengarten
  5. ○- House Bishop seeks a resident priest -○ As I, the newly raised Baron of Ostervik and my noble household settle into our abode, it grieves my heart to see our awe-inspiring chapel stand for so long unmanned, detached from the purposes for which Godan ordained for his flock. As a remedy to this, and to cheerfully fulfill my obligation to the adherence and patronage to the Church of Canon, I am compelled to seek out one who might bring the glory of Godan to these oft forgotten Attenlund hills. These trees, these mounds of earth, stones, and the structures upon which we take residence, are no less pious than those of our nation’s capital; and will readily accept any clergy who may set out to sanctify this land with their presence. Upon arrival, we seek to provide whomever will take up this charge with full honors; with choice of residence within the Ostervik castle, food prepared to preference, fine robes, access to our growing hall of study, and whatever else may be desired of a resident of the Barony. I pray that Godan and the Holy mother Church will hear my humble petition, and send a Shepard - young or old, new or seasoned - to this land, for the continued salvation of its soul and those of my House. Gott Mit Uns, Aurik Bishop, Baron of Ostervik, Baron-consort of Gascony

  8. Aurik Bishop laughs reading the missive. But after... only a second, he tilts his head "how did zhey talk?" -+- "did zhey have ein accent?" the man was indeed curious
  9. Aurik Bishop Smiles the sun's smile as he lowered the copy of the paper from his eye to the table. "Dobry job cousin. Ich see du can write better zhan du can speak. Very proud... very proud indeed." he got up from his seat and went around the table to hug his favorite Josephin tightly. @Awesam5555
  10. Aurik Bishop claps his hands in celebration. Afterward, doing a little happy dance that he stole from his friend.
  11. I love it when staff lets their community know whats goin on in the team. Keep up the good work! I love you all! <3
  12. Aurik Bishop reads the missive with much interest. "zhissssssss........." he shakes his head side to side many times, ".......... niet-gutte."
  13. Aurik Bishop squints at the missive with intrigue, hurrying away to one of his chambers to think on such. "Hmmmmmmm"

    Tarrifs, my homie?

I wasnt here at the beginning of Almaris but this does sound like interesting history. Do you remember much more about the system at all? Id say, with the amount of resource buildup that has already been done, it wouldnt be too bad, especially because of the nodes at spawn. Those (the hub ones), I wasnt advocating for getting rid of. What I want to see gone (or at least changed) is the nation tile improvements with all the exact same resources and the same layout. From that, Ill ask, do you support or have any interest in a balanced modification of resource amounts in each different polity or even every single mine? Making everything easier and more profitable is one of the things that lessens immersion, and does not provide any interesting tasks when working in the economic sectors of any civilization. Id be very against sole staff oversight of that kind of thing, but surely it would be fun for leaders of polities to be able to modify what they can offer to people. Just in case my specific sub-point here needs to be clarified, im thinking that nation mines can be there still, they just wont have the option to copy every other mine in the universe. For the sake of fairness, if the people working on the next map took a look around and discussed 'what would make sense to be more/less plentiful here, based on biome, climate, and bio density?' This idea I love. If anything, id trade just this for the whole idea of tarrifs or differing resources. I love the idea of having a certain spice, metal, or chemical from each nation/settlement that the leader chooses and can change (for a cost). Something that highlights the polity's history, culture, current level of development, or a plethora of other factors. The only problem, as you allude to, would be the coding and logistical implementation. If, then, I was to try and write up a system for that, would you be open to checking it out and maybe putting on a signature?
  15. https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/topic/217554-how-to-fix-lotc/ (@Gavin_) https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/topic/217543-reasons-i-might-firebomb-your-house/ (@argonian) Maybe these dudes are right. Economy is should be a pretty important thing in Lotc, and I think that if we made the system of exchanging currencies and trading mats more detailed, it could open up a lot of rp opportunity, and greater depth of immersion when pretending to be a medieval person in a block game. Idea 1: Foreign trade by default has a modifier (spitball, 2.5x for settlements, 4x for nations) on the tax price for shops not managed by citizens of that nation. Unless reduced or eliminated through diplomatic treaty. Maybe, if you want your polity to have a good stall in the market of one of the more economically active places, youll cough up that extra dough. Maybe, if your own polity isnt one of those, you might offer lowered tariffs, attracting more economics and rp, at the cost of.... [idk, havent thought that far yet, but there has to be an incentive for markets to not just ignore tarrifs.] Idea 2: Lets have the different polities able to have more plentiful or even specialty materials available in their tile improvements. Its not reasonable for the frozen north, blazing west, forested east, and sandy south to ALL HAVE THE SAME MATERIALS IN THE EXACT SAME RATIOS. That breaks rp @ story_team. From this it follows that nations that want/need other materials that they dont have, in order to satisfy the desires of their nations citizens and institutions, will have to either open diplomatic trade, or ready up some arms and get to marching. 50 years of straight war is boring as ****… but so is 50 years of straight peace. Give people another reason to do pvp (give the pvpers some compensation for removing pvp/defender default). could be a good idea
  16. [A history nerd gets to pester a real life legend with questions... lets have some fun] 1) Ive only been here a year and a half, and ive only ever played 3 serious characters, none of them from birth to death. Have you played every race and CA? If so, what was your favorite moment from each that really highlighted the best characteristics as that race? 2) What are the most intense points of history over each map that you remember? [Things that I would never find through forums or wikis or in game histories] 3) How long have halflings been a thing? You seem to love them quite a bit, but how long-set in our lotc environment are they really? 4) Do you remember your first ever character? if so, id like to hear as much about them as you can remember (or that could fit in the comment box). 5) Has there ever been a time, during your tenure, when humans were not the most prominent playerbase on the map? In other words, a point in which activity, war, politics, and economy was decided more by the mali', uruk, or dwedmar, playerbases than with the human ones? (any 1 race in particular, not all of the other races as a collective). 6) What makes LOTC so interesting for you day in and day out? 9 years is a long time. Your lotc account has outlived marriages, lifespans of every fish ive ever had, and is older than my nephew. Why in the world after all this time do you keep coming back? Do the reasons change? If yes, how often, and how many times have they done so? 7) Who are the 9 most important people to your overall LOTC experience? They can be for any reason, just your top 9 peeps who have contributed most to your enjoyment of this server oocly, irply, spiritually, mechanically, metaphorically, theoretically, and magnanimously. 8) What texture pack do you use, and do you have shaders? Would you consider either stopping or starting? 9) How much longer do you plan on being in LOTC?
  17. Aurik Bishop is surprised that Asher hasnt been captured and hanged already - though the magister's office has likely written the verdict before hearing the case anyway...
  18. Aurik Bishop wonders how the ears of the church were so clear and open to the ill-actions of his uncle, true or not... and yet deaf to the many people who Cassio has brought to the light of Godan's teachings. "zhey do have a point." Aurik shrugged "mein onkle vas nien saint" -+- "but lies und murder are niet zhe solution to his faults..."
  19. [!] Odd how Viktor somehow didnt remember Cassio's re-conversion back to the flock after being threatened with disownment. [!] A response letter is written and sent back to Dame Vik!
  20. [!] A message is shared among the descendants, particularly to the King of Balian
  21. Aurik Bishop rolled back in his chair, readying his quill hand and pocketbook to respond to the wave of letters which were surely arriving at the aviary... "So much as ein ******* fart, und he's disowned. Ich am serious. Ich vill kill him meinself." he grumbled to his wife @Fawnytheturtle
  22. {A Declaration from House Bishop} A happy day becomes a sad day, when news of a repeated ill has been done by those who have been time and time again corrected, chided, warned, but never yet punished. As news comes across the ears of the Bishop council, the disappointment felt for Atilan, son of Thomund is of great measure. Staying true to my forefathers promise to ensure the members of this House conduct themselves honorably and respectfully, Atilan, son of Thomund, is long past due to pay recompense for his words. Those which have not only moved half of the haeseni citizenry to distress, but similarly causes dishonor to be associated with the name of those who toil tirelessly to be distant from that interpretation. These punishments are as follows; I. Atilan, son of Thomund, will for the course of 1 year, take residence within the presence of the Canonist church, to study in the practices of a held tongue, and chivalrous conduct. II. Atilan, son of Thomund, will be barred from carrying the name Bishop, instead carrying the House’s bastard designation of Avoran until such a time as he returns with full permission from the Church’s strict oversight. III. Atilan Avoran will be stripped of his NCO status and participation within all units of the BSK for the duration of the punishment. d) Upon his return, Atilan Bishop will be reinstated to the rank of Armsman. IV. Atilan Avoran will be, in his capacity as a temporary bastard, disinherited from his father’s land, wealth, and respect, for so long as his name and conduct do not align with the other men of the House. V. Atilan Avoran will be absolutely disallowed from conversing with any members of the female gender, with the exception of clergywomen, and only with close supervision from a clergyman. VI. Atilan Avoran will not be allowed to leave the sight of an ordained clergyman for the duration of his punishment. a) If at any time, articles 5 or 6 are broken, Atilan Avoran will be summarily disowned and remain dishonored in perpetuity. b) Upon Atilan’s permitted return, he will regain his inheritance, surname, and any respect he managed to garner before his wayward actions. As an apology for our mistake of too-prolonged correction; House Bishop pledges 100 mina to every legitimate female of all Noble Houses of the Kingdom having between 19-24 years of age. Signed, Aurik Bishop, Patriarch of House Bishop Fallon Bishop, Matriarch to House Bishop, Baroness of Gascony
  23. Aurik Bishop rubs his thumb across the edge of the paper as he read, smiling as he came across his name on the paper. "ahh." -+- "Ich vill definately be attending." he went to go prepare a small wagon and some gift wrapping to take with him... for no particular reason.
