  1. Ferdinand Eryl stood quietly in the background all by his stony lonesome... Much appreciative of the good family he has been blessed with. He bows his head in quiet prayer, un-noticed by the rest of the gathered family.
  2. Ferdinand Eryl reads through the text with high appreciation for the Benedict of Veletz. Ferdinand moves to the church for prayer, with this very document clutched at the center of his tightly closed hand.
  3. Ferdinand, a newcomer to heartlander politics, organizes his thoughts in his head upon the trip back to Petra's capital. Off into the distant sky he stared during the short over-land journey from Veletz, reflecting in his head how the events of the past few years were so similar to other stories in history, yet noting the ever-dynamic state of human relations. The party of armed knights and gaurdsmen surrounding the queen gave hearty conversation on the way there and back; still, the loud clamoring of horses stampeding in formation over-awed any word coming from the fellow Petrans. Instead, for this short ride alongside the Knights Order, his own thoughts were his conversation.
  4. Casstrucio Dandalo views the missive in sad countenance - though he knew the woman not, his love for his kinsmen and friends caused him to visit the nearby temple for prayer. And this finished, he went back home to the tower's empty room, scribbling some things on some papers...
  5. Ferdinand Eryl Joins in the applauding as he sees his elderly uncle clapping alone in the corner of their house like a madman "This certainly IS a wonderous occasion"
  6. "HOPE SO!" Ferdinand von Augusten exclaimed, offering the Vibin' Viscount a fist bump.
  7. Ferdinand interlocks his fingers and stretches both arms forward, with the palms facing out. 'Ohhh... now he has gone und done it. und now Ich have to School zhis homie.' "Although the craft of penmanship and logical retort are well enjoyed, im sure, by both of our persons, I should refrain from such deep discourse with a correspondent so very far away. Therefore, to your claim I will give fact, to clarify the misconceptions which you have sadly developed by close proximity to liars, or avoidance of diligent investigation. Nevertheless, to ensure that you never embarrass yourself in such ways again, I encourage you to realize what facts have been kept from you, and in future; feed your curiosity with investigation instead of rumor. To the charge of Treason, I ask you to provide proof of what things we have done, past serving the councils and citizenry of the state since its founding. You may be implying to reference our leaving, which, addressed in my own response to the Aaunian King's similar outreach. Though if you are not one for long whinded missives and retorts; I simply remind you that lieges which do not perform their duties lose the right to command their vassals. Just like how vassals who do the same have their status revoked. And if you disagree, I beg of you to list every liege and lord you have sworn oath to, so that we may compare which of us has a deeper history of abandoning lieges... if it is the case, that you define that 'treason'. To the charge of Darkspawn, and our treatment of the guilty, I give you a reminder of history, which, in your lack of investigation, you overlooked: Regarding the Latter 2, 'Amadea Von Augusten' is not a woman well-known to me, having been in the same room on few occasions. But her credibility as human can only be denied by the writ or declaration of The Church or that citizen's Sovereign. If you have evidence of this which I do not, put me to shame and show it, as I said before. And make me to regret my words. Further regarding 'Monika Von Augusten', who was tested for vampirism only last night, her credibility has been multiple-times questioned and proven true. [!] Attatched Proofs I will ignore the 'rat' comment, giving you the benefit of the doubt. For how could someone with little value for truth posess so much knowledge of it? I, briefly as a canonist brother. Will applaud your denouncement of a darkspawn who was confirmed in his evil. We agree on this, that vampirism is a plague. Therefore, with truth said, and misconception done away with, let us continue this discourse, and dispel any yet-remaining thought of ill-heart which you presume my House to have. I call you to meet with myself, or a council of Augustens chosen by my House Head, if he is so willing. There, we may share between eachother, canonist brothers, the utmost truth, supported with fact, word and signature from many men of every rank. What has influenced your House to join this farse of a petty crusade against House von Augusten paints you in a bad light, for the only ones left who are still bringing word of evil and hatred against our people are those who have been instructed to do so by one malicious force or another, perhaps, I would suggest in your case, a desire for popularity and appreciation from those who consider your Household their Puppet. Do see sense. Humble yourself. -Signed, Ferdinand von Augusten
  8. Ferdinand von Augusten wonders at the source of such a missive, sending a letter to this famed 'Gregorius', he pens; "It comes as a surprise to myself, that you take this time to issue such a missive. Even further, I struggle to conjure what grievances you have against the House of von Augusten; for as far as my relatives have told, our houses have not had much association ever since The House Roa took residence in Urguan during the time of Almaris. You have not named the acts we have done to cause you issue, you have not justified these claims with evidence of any kind. Further, what sort of prudent man formally cuts all ties with a far distant House, without so much as a diplomatic outreach? A letter of some kind... maybe. Though, if you will ignore my above ramblings I should get to the heart of my correspondence. I have a warning for you: Making impactful decisions for your kin and name, based on the whims of other men, is no way to earn glory. I sense that this letter did not come into being by your independent wish and passion. And if I am wrong, put me to shame, and reveal to all (the same to which this missive is shown), what insult you take to the name Von Augusten." -+- "and do be tactful - grater men have tried and failed to achieve your object." -Signed Ferdinand von Augusten.
  9. Seething with anger at the uncanonist acts, Ferdinand decides to spend his free time guarding the church with his body and prayers...
  10. Ferdinand sends back a short response: The words were upon a folded parchment which the reciever had already once laid eyes on before.... '' Additionally, a line of text accompanied; I wonder how this 'truth' you speak of, which flouts reason and contradicts history, came to be revealed to you. See sense. Humble yourself.
  11. Ferdinand von Augusten notes the action for historical record.
  12. -+-+-+-+- The council of Aaun has recently released a missive labeled ‘Of oaths and Resolutions’ I, Ferdinand Eryl, will respond to ink with ink. I pray any reader sees sense, and not only the blind ramblings of high minded nobles who hold more respect for ancient names than decency and dignity. -+-+-+-+- The betrayal of sworn oaths and vows made in good conscience is among the gravest sins a man may make against his fellow man. It is doubly the case when subject does so against liege, thinking themselves in the mould of a common mercenary, able to plunder and benefit from the mercy of one Crown while fielding offers from another. Bonds of vassalage are not to be opted in and out of, they are not to be reneged upon, they are not to be treated as lightly as the Houses Augusten and Leopold believe they may be. Does a good vessel hold men, and take cargo from one port to another? If so, we need not take issue with the vessel. Does a good teacher explain his principles, with examples and repetition? If so, we need not take issue with the teacher. Does a pillar hold up the structure of a large building? If so, we need not take issue with the pillar. If, however, a liege does not fairly accommodate the vassal. If harassment, accusation, stifling in the councils and governments, are present all at one time or another - with little to no assistance and no measures taken from the liege… then there seems to be issue with the Liege, and not the vassal. And if that vassal, without a properly functioning liege, sought to maintain the standard of life due to a Household of long merit and creditable skill, then none would blame them. For, if thinking them blameful under any circumstances, they must make up some reason to justify their love-lacking words and impious implications. You will quickly think to respond me; ‘but you bad sir, you villain, you did indeed deserve those things, for you harbored vampires.’ I say, well, write, that you are correct in remembering that there were vampires which sadly held our name, and when it was known, they were treated no different in their executions and expulsions from polite society. To yet again though, keep this opinion of us on these grounds, lends more display to the opinion you would like to have of us, contrary to that which our actions should have inspired. The contract of vassalage provides the foundation of the state, for it regulates the conduct between vassal and liege, enshrined by law and given the favour of our God. A vow made to an anointed monarch, a Prince of the Lord, cannot be dissolved save by His representative authority. There is no man above God, nor His appointed, and to act against the goodwill of one’s liege is to strike humanity in the face. What is the purpose of bonds and oaths if they may be reneged? The lost honour of breaking this oldest and most fundamental of contracts is not only a betrayal of state but a betrayal of the Lord. Unless you would deny human nature, and the natural courses of states, you will not shudder away from the idea that ancestors of my house, and the ancestors of yours, were different people than us. We, until the present time, were wholly content within aaun. But the Crown of that state, instead of investigating the into the causes of a Noble House being so ill-treated, they… well im not quite sure what they were doing. Nevertheless it helped little to the House which was among the longest-serving of the realm. And this contract you speak of, was not first broken by the vassal. Our ancestors may have solved our differences differently, perhaps they were wiser people than we. Wont ever know will we though, since some agent (i doubt of foreign origin) saw fit to burn our ancestor in her very House. Aaun has no need for such families and vassals that will debase themselves in such a disgraceful manner. It is a stain upon a house’s dignity to carelessly attempt to break their bonds of vassalage; it is folly for them to assume that they may do so without recourse. If they wish to play a mercenary’s game, then both ends of the contract they willingly entered will be upheld. It seems as if the State of Aaun does not know what is to be desired by a state that wishes stability and excellence. It would not be hard to justify this case; since very few men of prudence would fail to uphold the noble respect of a vassal, and thereafter rebuke him for seeking refuge and peace. After still, targeting and seeking harm to a House who has done little ill to any man or woman alive. For arent our best merits those of diplomacy, and trade? This is either an elaborate joke, or a show of what happens when men think more highly of titles than of honor and dignity. We are all children under the eyes of the Almighty. Children make mistakes, their judgement clouded by innocent fallibility. And as the King is to the subject pater familias, so too must he safeguard them from their own worse judgements. Consequently, We invite the Count of Hohengarten, his family and ranks, to attend Us in one Saint’s Day. In Our presence, they shall prostrate themselves for their childish mistakes and reaffirm their oaths to Us. And as We are Merciful and Benevolent they shall, upon this act of allegiance, be returned to Our usual love. As before said, one should not mention piety while at the same time rejecting the principles of longsuffering and humility. You have lost the legitimate overlordship of our men and our talents. But as We are Just, We are also Resolute. If the Count of Hohengarten, his family and ranks, not attend Us at Our Palace, then the following shall come into place immediately: You are not just. Just look at your own words and hearts, if any more proof is needed, inform me and I can provide more. The County of Hohengarten, and all lands and privileges attached, will be revoked from the House of Augusten and returned to the Crown; I hope the additional titles bring you more security and respect than it earned for our House. The Barony of Edendorf, and all lands and privileges attached, will be revoked from the House of Leopold and returned to the Crown; I hope the yet more additional titles bring you more security and respect than it earned for our House. A Royal Ban will be issued upon Konstantin of Augusten. He will be declared legally dead and his person and property may be injured without legal right of recourse. Awfully canonist of you, a king, with armies, to call for against a single house. Have you read the 4 scrolls before? Perhaps there is a portion of it, where a great and mighty emperor sent his forces against a singular family of learned nobles. Ill visit a library and see if any stories of the sort exist. Could it be said that GOD is on the side of any who would show such in-ordinate fear? We appeal to the Wisdom and Jurisdiction of the Waldenian Diet to, at their liberty, explore the unforgivable sin of vampirism within and without the House Augusten. Crimes against the Faith are crimes against humanity, We will not allow this malevolence to infect Our people. Will you pretend that the House of von Augusten is well-accustomed to the practice of harboring vampires as well? Recent examples are sufficient for anecdotes, but patterns require much more significant proof and substantive justification. If indeed our House was a lover of the vampiric plague, why has word and action only come against the members of our house in recent times? or, you know it to be untrue and yet still publish the idea to the minds of all… both display something of your intentions which I will have to meditate on in the near future. We further appeal to Our allies abroad in the meantime, and in the case the foresaid persons do not attend Us, to not aid or consort with Our subjects, whatever their status or agenda. They are of Our Union, and shall remain, from cradle to grave. Do you now presume to already be the emperors of all the heartlands? You do not decide the decisions of other sovereigns, nor of houses over which you have lost your legitimate liegehood. - That is a statement of fact. Humble yourself. To add lastly; I am not the head, nor am I in the council of the House von Augusten. But if my lack of title compels you to ignore the soundness of my reasoning, then I pray for your soul. If my kinsmen or any fellow citizens come to different reasonings by different methods, they can condemn and denounce me as they may. I hold no state of prominence. -+-+-+-+- Signed, A man who can see sense Ferdinand von Augusten
  13. OK so take my rash 2am thinking with a grain of salt because I see the logic in your point. I have not gotten into a conflict since I came back to lotc so I havent read the current rules, but I recall one time in lotc where solving issues was ONLY allowed to be done through crp, or pvp resolutions between more than 3 people had to be over-seen by a mod and delayed for super long periods of time. I would definately agree with the assertion that pvp default would be kinda silly. But the way it used to be sacrificed effectiveness and enjoyment for the sake of what was in many cases a smaller vote. But lemme read the rules and see how much of a balance there is right now. I might edit this later. if the current rules provide a good balance and standard for resolutions. These are actually pretty good rules that I can get behind. I retract my earlier request <3
  14. When you say no, what exactly do you mean? no to the idea, or were you commenting on my tragic loss of sense?
  15. I genuinely am amazed at how stupid I am sometimes. Earilier today I was going on and on in a conversation with a friend about how much I love the return of pvp default. "Homie, what do you mean theres no pvp default on lotc?" I had assumed that the title of this post was the 'final edict' type act from the mod admin before he retired (Best fortunes to your irl adventures itdontmatta). I only was just told now that he didnt really mean he was making that a policy. And I laughed until it started to hurt. Ok so yes im dumb but like what if we really took it seriously? What if we kinda just went along with it and pretended pvp default was back. Only for like 24 hours? And then if we like it, put it back maybe?
  16. Ferdinand read the oath, appreciated it's prudent structure and impactful language, and signed with all haste and passion Full Name: Ferdinand Eryl von Augusten Age: 21 Gender: Male Race: Heartlander Rank: Recruit [Username: Lomiei_] [Discord: @Lomiei#5456]
  17. A curious and wandering spirit hovers out of sight nearby the speaker after their comment. Having peeked at the object to which the lady was pointing, the spirit was rendered briefly silent with bewilderment. "was there a hidden portion of that document only mortals can see?" -+- "I do not see any contracts anywhere. Unless I am looking at the wrong document." ...It scratched its incorporeal head... "i am not the smartest of ghosts." it then levitated up to the cieling where it began playing with the streams of smoke sourced from the tip of the various candles in the room (if there were candles)..
  18. Regardless of the ever-continuing horrors down below, the spirit of the old Ser Erwin Bishop exuded its usual peace as Cosima's soul was ascended by righteous judgement. Waiting just beyond the pearly gates was the old, open-armed figure of the man, smiling the sun's smile. "You." "Have made your ancestors Proud. Well done my kinswoman."
  19. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHAHHAHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" a particularly well dressed old man replies.
  20. Casstrucio Dandalo read and listened to whatever news he could acquire. And he did go to great lengths to acquire. "History, before my very eyes" Excited quill tip scrawled against paper on one side and then another, and onto the next. "I wonder if there were any portriateers present"
  21. "IT DIED!" - "IT DIED!" -+- "THEY KILLED WILLIAM AND IT DIED! - *stopclaimingthatfuckingtitle!!!!* " the screaming of the long dead ghost, surnamed Vinelli - accompanied by four loud bangs of incorporeal fists upon a desk in the corner of the authors room
  22. Good luck on the recruitment efforts my friends
  23. Casstrucio settled comfortably into his unfurnished room once more; books and papers adorning the floors surrounding him. "Oh what pleasure it is, to have this record before me." His palms slid past eachother as he sat cross-legged upon the spruce planks and unfurled the scroll before his eyes, "what teachings do you have for me?" The boy of only about 10 years, a passionate lover of history and frequent reader, hastily digested the work. Lengthy pause came upon the boy, then appreciation. "Admiration and thanks to you, men living and dead - who keep the knowledge of their times, for me to share today."
