Actually, Roses are red for the same reason that an individual might have blue eyes, that being genetics. Genes regulating color are part of every rose's genetic make-up and are passed from parents to offspring, much like that of humans. Flower color can be heightened or modified through selective breeding much like a human would change a dog's hair color, or even a cats. Fascinating stuff really.

  9. This lore has been somewhat agree'd upon with some changes that would like to be seen such as: Changes in senses: -Eyesight: Have very good vision as stated, but suffered from blind spots since it's eyes are located on the sides of it's head. So large blind spot behind the bird still allows for easy sneaking up on. Directly above, and directly in front, give a bird a disadvantage. It would have to cock and tilt it's head about like most birds to see. Cannot see well at night. -Hearing: Front living in a jungle it's vision would be absurd by but dense forest, and plant life. Hearing would be necessary for it's survival. Specially when trying to ambush small pray. -Sense of Smell: None -Taste: Poor, their tongue lacks taste buds, but the roof of their mouth carries a few receptors. Update Regional: -Resides in Jungle only, will not leave by choice. -If removed it'll have to be bound and dragged, often acting depressed away from it's home. -May have excellent sight, but bright lighting hurts their sensitive eyes. -Does no look up, since it considers itself a top predator. Kha could easily drop in from above then.

  14. Erster Rutz-Khranstig Dwarf <image> Erster Rutz-Khranstig is the son of Galdan & Yuana Rutz-Khranstig. One look at his fiery beard will expose his mountain dwarf blood. During his beardling years, him and his kin lived in the Grandaxe Hold, Kal'Anart. They were sheltered in one of the many clan halls supplied to the lower clans. Unlike the other beardlings, Erster wasn't trained in the arts of combat or lumberjacking, or anything or the sort. His father, Galdan, taught him and the rest of the clan beardlings the way of the dirty thief, ways such as pick-pocketing to pick-locking chests. Beardling Years WIP
  15. Enor Sheffield Human Enor Sheffield was born to Edmund Sheffield and Ivrae Sheffield when they ruled over Oren as King and Queen in Aegis. He took over the throne after his father turned to the Undead. King Enor proved to have a polarizing rule with significant support and opposition. During the Undead attack on Al'Khazar he was kidnapped and taken to the Nether. He stepped down from the throne shortly afterwards and gave the crown to Gaius Marius in response to rising opposition. He then joined Dawn Perea to found Salvus. He ruled over the nation until his disappearance in Asulon.
  16. Ella Perea Human Ella Perea is the daughter of Dawn Perea and Pampo Perea of Oren and Salvus. She has two brothers, Rhonin and Brett Perea.
  17. Dawn Perea Human Lady Dawn Perea was a baker, political leader in Oren and Queen of Salvus. History Dawn was married to Pampo Perea during his reign as King of Oren. She was considered quite popular with the people. She owned Dawn's Bakery, a popular bakery in Al'Khazar that grew so popular it was able to expand to other locations in Whisper Isles, Laurelin and Winterfell. Following the death of King Perea at the hands of Undead Dawn was no longer Queen when Edmund Sheffield took the throne. She remained in charge of Winterfell until it fell to Undead in 1340. Following the events of the Phoenix Revolution Dawn and the former King of Oren Enor Sheffield established the Kingdom of Salvus, designed to be a peaceful nation among the infighting of the Humans. Many Humans joined the new nation. Upon the move to Asulon Queen Dawn remained in power in Salvus for many years, ruling from the capital of Solace. Queen Dawn grew more controversial as time went on. She was increasingly seen negatively by other nations, and war was declared on Salvus by Hanseti, Renatus, Alras, The War Uzg, Seventis and the Twilight Army. Queen Dawn was killed in the early stages of the war, prompting infighting among the coalition. Family Dawn was married to Pampo Perea until his death. They had two sons and a daughter, Rhonin Perea, Brett Perea and Ella Perea.
  18. Dante Flormai Elf Pages Dante can somewhat be described as a notable figure in Asulon for his long work with the people, and places of the land. He is most famously known for serving as a Prince of Malinor and a Master within the Mages Guild. He is also infamously noted at times for his large family outing known as the Flormai. History I. The Child II. The Lost One III. The Elf IV. The Druid V. The Mage VI. The Lover VII. The Mali'aheral VIII. The Teacher VIV. The Father X. The Prince I. The Child The night air hung over the two Mali'aheral very closely, tugging at their tattered robes. Dante adopted a small sad smile staring down at the mangled up child, who silently yawned as the night sky tired him. The child's blonde hair drooped over his dark green eyes, which slowly blinked close. The remaining couple shared a look, pulling each other closer. "We can't do this Dante..." the thin girl muttered. "I know love, I know..." he replied. He adopted a weary expression as he stood, the baby boy still wrapped in his arms. "The question is though, what are we going to do?" the girl replied, standing up after him. Dante only shook his head, letting out a sigh. "I wish I knew the half of it love. We can barely accommodate for the other child, let alone this one." he said with yet another pained sigh. She put her gentle hand on his shoulder, slowly wrapping him towards herself in a hug. They shakily made their way back into the damaged home, shivering from the dark cold. To be continued.
  19. Damien Dracaena Human Childhood Damien Dracaena had been born in a quaint village in Aegis; He was quite intuitive at best, you could say. His motives and goals were different then most of the citizens who resided in his village. His parents, whose names are to this day undisclosed, treated him with the utmost cruelty. Their methods of torture were unparalleled to the ordinary methods. He believed they were mentally insane, and wished for their torture to stop. In order to save himself, he had to acquire everyday food and meats and his hygiene intact. He would ensure that he possessed an adequate amount of food in a small crypt below his home. In order to get his spoils, he performed mischievous acts of thievery and deception. Every night he would venture out near the general store and break into its' coffers, removing the necessary resources for survival. He then would gently slide the lock back in place, cloaking his presence in the area. Upon obtaining these resources, he would flee back to his crypt and store them for further use at a later time. While Damien's actions and methods of thinking were slightly derogatory, he was still a well-maintained and kind youth. He would visit the village guards and spar often, sharpening his skills with a sword. He also would practice against the targets set in place for the guards to utilize. This training allowed him to fend for himself, and also get an advantage over his foes. Eventually, after quite a long period of time, his parents grew old and withered away. When they passed, Damien showed no sign of remorse. He simply flickered an eyelid and went to live in another home. One night, however, something drastically had changed. He was venturing in the forest when a cloaked man, brandishing a small object in his hand, mugged Damien. Startled and not knowing what to do, Damien simply let it happen. However, the man was not seeking to injure Damien. He disclosed that he had secretly witnessed the brutal torture that Damien had endured, and was going to help. In the next chapter of his life, Damien did so in quite a vast fashion. Adolescence This cloaked man turned out to be a mentor and an essential figure in Damien's life. He educated Damien in the ways of combat, reading, and other literary and educational subjects. This was essential to Damien's Growth, it allowed him to attain a significant advantage over other youth at his age, and it also furthered his knowledge with the world of Aegis, and later, Asulon. During his Adolescence, Damien attended a structure in which promoted and distributed education to its' students, or in other words, a "School". He believed it wasn't that useful, so he ended up not enrolling the following year and simply obtaining education from his most gracious mentor. Damien's Adolescence was quite depressing for him, as one of his most influential people in his life, his mentor, or how he called him: "Father", had perished of old age. This struck Damien quite immensely. Following the fall of Aegis to the Undead, Damien inscribed a resting place for his first true father by burying his corpse and laying a flower upon it. Having known the Undead would consume Aegis, Damien embarked upon a voyage to Asulon with a particular individual who had interest in Damien, Symodimi Dracaena. Symodimi further developed his relations with Damien and later would offer him a place in his Family, which Damien most graciously accepted. They went to Asulon together on the Salvus Flagship. Adulthood - A New Journey to Asulon After arriving in Asulon, Damien and Symodimi had set off to purchase a quaint townhouse in Solace. They also possessed other family members, Dimatrik, Elandorr, and Bitazity. The Dracaenas were also interested in hunting, and pursued animals to obtain specific meats and other various resources for coin. They conversed with Salvus Nobility often, acquiring knowledge of what was occurring in Asulon. -- UNFINISHED --
  20. Dain Farhammer Long ago, when Aegis was still young, there was a Dwarf named Karn Farhammer. Karn was a simple Dwarf. He worked in the deep mines of Aegis, trying to make his fortune in diamonds and other gems. Everyday he would delve deeper and deeper into the earth, searching for these elusive items. But, this was a boring life, so one day Karn decided he was through with this trivial digging. And so, Karn gathered up all his belongings, his rusty old pick, the clothes on his back, and his high-fathers sword and set out to have the adventure of a lifetime. Karn’s journey was a long one. He spent years exploring the wilderness and wilds of Aegis. Whilst on his journey, Karn established himself amongst the Dwarf community as an exceptional spelunker. No cave was too dark or too deep for Karn to venture into. But, one day he had had enough adventuring and decided to settle down. So, he settled in the newly founded city of Kal’Urguan. Karn got married and spent the rest of his life in the comfort of his new home. Many years later, when Karn was very old, he had a grandson. His son Dorin’s wife had given birth to a beautiful young Dwarf, Dain. As soon as Karn laid his eyes on Dain, he knew that this young Dwarf would grow up to be something special. Dain had that same glint of adventure in his eye as Karn did. Dain grew up in the bustling Dwarf metropolis of Kal’Urguan. When he wasn’t learning the ins and outs of spelunking from his grandfather, Dain spent his times in the abandoned mines scattered about the city. Dain would spend endless days in the mines, searching for any gems or jewels that the long gone miners may have forgotten. Dain’s life was perfect. But then, it came time for Dain to leave his home city and venture forth into the world to prove himself a true Dwarf! Karn instructed Dain to head north and to continue traveling north until the snow was falling so quick that you couldn’t see even a foot in front of your face. And so, with his pick in one hand, a mug of ale in the other, and his high-father’s sword on his back, Dain set out to prove himself. In the Farhammer clan there is a tradition unlike any other in all of Aegis. At the age of 50, every Farhammer must prove themselves. To prove oneself means you must go for 1 year to a place where no Farhammer has gone before and settle the area. For Dain this place is far in the north, a quite inhospitable place. Also, upon your return to the clan, you must bring an artifact of your time of proving showing that you have proven yourself a be a true Farhammer. Dain spent many days traveling northward. He saw many great sites including the mighty capital of Oren and the vast deserts of the war nation of Krugmar. But eventually, after many days of travel, Dain had decided that he had found a suitable place to prove himself at. The location he chose was a small cave in the side of a mountain. It was extremely cold and Dain was thankful to have his goblin skin boots on to keep him warm. The snow seemed to never stop falling and all the ground was covered in a thick blanket of snow. For the next couple of weeks, Dain spent his time fortifying his new cave home. He dug farther into the mountain, carving out a bedroom and a mining shaft for him to work from. He also created a small wall around the entrance to his cave to help keep any ‘undesirables’ out. For many days, life was boring for Dain. Endlessly digging, hoping to break into a cavern did not suit Dain. But then, after months of digging, Dain finally found what he was looking for. Through a small slit in the rocks in his mining shaft, Dain could hear running water. This meant that there was a cavern right on the other side of the rock. So, Dain, with his sword in his left hand and a torch in his right broke through the flimsy rock separating him from the cavern. A rush of cavern air hit Dain at full force almost knocking him off his feet. Dain took his first slow steps into the cavern. Almost immediately, Dain felt something wasn’t right. He heard the scuffling of someone or something’s feet on the cavern floor. Dain raised his torch and his eyes filled with horror. 10 cave goblins were slinking toward Dain. Dain dropped his torch and raised his blade. As the goblins advanced, Dain made a silent prayer to his ancestors to allow him to survive this battle. The goblins were now in a dead sprint towards Dain. The first goblin to reach Dain was hewn in two by his blade. Two more goblins tried to leap onto him, but Dain rolled out of harms way. When he got up, Dain saw that he was surrounded. 9 goblins encircled him. The goblins then began trying to attack him one by one, with each attack being forced back by Dain. Eventually it was down to only 5 goblins and Dain. Dain then charged the remaining goblins, and to his surprise they sprinted away from him. Dain, thinking he was the victor, then slid his blade back into its scabbard and picked up his torch. The smell of death lay heavy in the air and Dain wanted to leave the cavern. But then he heard a noise that made the hair of his beard stand up straight. A loud roar filled the cavern. Dain turned around to see the 5 goblins coming back toward him, but this time, they had a troll.

  22. Brett Perea Brett Perea was the son of the King of Oren Pampo Perea and Lady Dawn Perea. He was once the Guard Leader in Al'Khazar and later in charge of Whisper Isles for many years.
  23. Bog the Behemoth'Gorkil Orc Pages Bog grew up in a poor orcish tribe that had only survived by trading pebbles, and ores to with other orcish tribes. Many young orcs of this small village had to give up their training in combat to feed their families while their parents were at war. Bog was forced into the mines to mine for the War Nation. He spent nine long years mining for food, increasing his strength. Just to get by, Bog would eat the other orcs' rations right out of their hands. Bog was soon exiled from the tribe from eating the entire buffet at a celebration. All the chicken bones were picked clean, the steak was swallowed whole, and the stew was guzzled down. Bog was exiled for putting a major impact in the tribe's food storage. Bog traveled to a merchant city named Grizzbare, there he tried to trade pebbles, and sticks. Every merchant had denied him, because his wares were obviously worthless. Bog's stomach began to eat Bog inside out. Though, Bog had seen a butcher shop, and had slowly apporoached it; clutching his stomach. The Butcher was not at his stall so Bog had thought the food was free, and began to devour the butcher's entire stock. Bog chewed the dry pig flesh like gum, and stuffed his face with lamb chops. The butcher had returned and was outraged that Bog had stolen all his food. The butcher slaps Bog on the back of the head, and Bog slowly turns around to stare in the face of the angered butcher. A fish in Bog's mouth, and the butcher shouted at Bog, then Bog had realized what the butcher had in his pocket. It was a freshly chopped off Halfling arm. Bog picks up the small butcher, and sticks his hand in the butcher's coat, slowly opening his cavernous jaws to swallow the arm whole. The butcher attempts to take the arm out of Bog's mouth, and gets his hand caught in Bog's monsterous jaws. Bog bites down to chew the halfling arm also snapping the butcher's palm leaving a grizzled nub. The butcher was screaming in pain, and Bog chewed the crunchy bones, and the succulent halfling arm. He drops the man due to his loud shrieks. Bog is soon chased out of the city, and is known as a monster. He had no choice but to walk the lonely roads, with his fear of starvation standing over him. Bog was nearly driven with madness, nearly every traveler he saw, he would beg for the person for food. If they had refused to give food, Bog would pick them up and shake them to see if they were lying to him. If the speak the truth that they own no food, he would then devour the clothes they wear on their very backs. Soon, Bog had lived like a goat, eating trash many travelers have left behind. He was in a nutshell, crazed by his fear of starvation. After a long ways of traveling, Bog had stumbled upon a sandy area with a small orcish merchant town known as Sanhar. Bog had met with some of the locals accepted him. Bog had joined the Ferox Legio, and had gotten free food for doing tasks, such as killing monsters and savage beasts that lurked during the night. Bog had soon used the money he receieved from his tasks and bought a stall in the marketplace of Sanhar. There Bog had sold his wares from monster slaying, and occasionally took food from other vendors stalls while they weren't looking. Bog had lived happily within his shop, until it was destroyed after the death of Bein'Lur. After that, Bog had decided to follow his best friend Yahgy, and became a Gorkil by having Yahgy adopt Bog into the family.
  24. Bili Hollowmead -Humble Beginnings- Bili Hollowmead was born in the year 30 to Rill Hollowmead, in the town of Branborough. His mother, a Halfling by the name of Sandy, unfortunately passed away during childbirth. Bili, however, was born a healthy child. He was not overweight, he was not underweight, and he was rarely sick. Bili grew under the care of his loving father, who taught him all he needed to know about life in the Vale. He was taught not to steal from the storage burrow, as that would "Leave ye in nothin' bu' trouble, little Bili!" Rill always said. He was also taught not to swim in the Tookwater River, as "Tha' 'll ge' ye eaten, little Bili!" Bili ignored this, and often swam in the shallow parts of the river. No trouble ever came out of it, besides a few muddy clothes that needed washing. Most importantly, Bili was taught kindness from his father. This element of life would give him many more opportunities later, rather than lead him into the darkness of evil. Bili had a knack for being curious in his childhood. He would often look through open doors, only to be chased out directly after with a broom and an angry Halfling. On one occasion, he climbed into a tree to rescue a bird. It ended with him travelling to the Cloud Temple in his father's arms, needing his broken wrist repaired. Through time, Bili went from a curious youngin', to an energetic young man. As he was one of the only teenagers in the Vale, he was required to be a helping hand to those in need. Bili was an able-bodied assistant, on and off through his teenage years. This gave him much-needed experience, later in life. It is no surprise, as curious as he was, that he simply goggled over a Halfling a few years older than him. Her name was Roxanne Littleknight, and she would later become the apple of his eye. -A Man, Through Age- At the age of 18, Bili began to search for work in Branborough. He applied as Deputy for Sheriff Lobo, and even considered working at the Drunken Sheep as a brewer. This job did not turn out, but he was often a customer to Belba the Brewmaiden. Bili had a shock when he received information that Rill, his father, was eaten by wolves. Bili went through a stage of depression, but quickly recovered as he gained the friendship of two Halflings, Bren Brownbelly and Gaeleg Frondor. They would join each other in fishing contests, small adventures, and drinks at the Drunken Sheep. Bili acquired the friendship of an odd man, by the name of Kore. Kore was often working on a project, purifying water. Bili was assigned to collect water from different places around Asulon, which proved to be his biggest adventure yet. He collected water from Haelun'or, where he was partially dissected by a High Elf named Lucion Sullas. Luckily, Bili is not aware that this happened, or he would probably die of fright. Bili's other assignments included collecting water from Menorcress and Salvus. Bili, at the age of 19, was accepted by Sheriff Lobo to be the Deputy of Branborough. He makes a habit of patrolling the Vale, and keeping peace. On one occasion, he discovered that a rabbit was destroying one of the gardens in the Vale. The situation is still being investigated. Bili lived peacefully in Branborough, serving as Deputy to his full extent for a few months, until once again, mischief occurred. While journeying to the lands of Salvus, Bili encountered a curious being who haunted him in a church. The monster, which chased him out of the cathedral, grabbed Bili and threatened to push him over the edge of a cliff. It rambled on about a stolen necklace, which Bili had only seen once, before a mysterious archer shot an arrow of flame towards the creature. It shrieked, before running off into the darkness of Salvus' streets. This archer turned out to be an Elven woman by the name of Lorial, who was somehow linked to the necklace that this monster spoke of. It happened to be her father, Dedamara's, in fact. Lorial and Bili had to venture to the mountains surrounding the Cloud Temple for safety, when an apparition of Dedamara came and rid the world of the awful beast that haunted them. Once more, after that, peace returned to Bili's life, just the way he had liked it. -A Different Sort of Adventure- Throughout his early 20's of his life, Bili often spent much time with the sought-after Roxanne, and wished to marry her. Due to his family's traditions, however, this would take quite a long time. The Hollowmeads tend to take years to woo a fellow Halfling into marriage. Following the tradition, Bili often took Roxanne on dates and get-togethers, where they would get to know each other and become closer. Bili's most memorable was that date of their first kiss, in which they traveled south of Branborough's Darkwood Forest, to the wondrous and beautiful Hollowmead Lake. This was named after Bili's father, Rill, found it many years previously, at the discovery of the Vale. Roxanne and Bili laid in the tall, wispy grass, and spoke of many things concerning love, life and even the politics of Branborough. After many hours of time together, they watched the sun rise above the lake, and kissed for the first time. Just weeks later, Bili Hollowmead proposed to young Roxanne right after a grand festival in the town, to which she agreed. This altogether led to a rivalry between town Elder Tibb Fairfield, who also had caught a liking to Roxanne, but that will be addressed later. Although it took four years of organization, procrastination, fear, nervousness, and many other strange emotions, the marriage of Bili and Roxanne came to be, led by the great Aris Snowbird, one of the most renowned Halfling craftsmen in the history of Hobbits. One such case of a problem in the relationship occurred about two years before the marriage, when Elder Faldo Featherfoot and Sheriff Lobo Underhill staged the act of Roxanne cheating on Bili with Tibb. This nearly undermined Bili's love for Roxanne, but after a few months of hardship, trust was rebuilt between Roxanne and Bili. Since then, disagreements and strife have been lacking in the marriage. -Bili and Tibb, a Rivalry- Elder Tibb Fairfield did not appreciate the fact that Bili was in a relationship with Roxanne from its very start, for she was the girl that Tibb planned to marry. Much of the feuds between Bili and Tibb started because of this, and some of them would lead to destruction. The first few times Tibb and Bili argued over Roxanne, it was virtually harmless. They just spoke to each other, and made their points clear. But eventually, it grew into a malicious and hateful war between the two, Tibb being backed up by the Elders and the Sheriff, while Bili was backed up by the townsfolk. The first real fight they had was when Tibb spoke of his fiendish, immoral thoughts with the woman. It resulted in Bili punching him straight in the jaw, knocking the bearded Elder out. Directly after, Bili was also knocked unconscious by Sheriff Lobo's shovel. When they awoke, both of the Halflings were fine, but still disliked each other greatly. Years of this constant pestering happened, until a final event shook Bili's lifestyle. Whilst patrolling the town one warm eve, Bili was approached by Elder Faldo, who was wielding a dastardly knife. Frightened, Bili ran and ran, being chased by the estranged Halfling (who was under the influence of a strong breed of pipeweed), into the great party tree of Branborough. Bili climbed his way to the top, and successfully hid from Faldo. On his way back down the tree, however, Faldo caught sight of Bili, frightened him, and Bili fell the great height down. An extreme fracture in Bili's leg rendered him relatively useless for nearly a year, where he had to stay inside of the Cloud Temple for the entirety of the time. Once back, much of the drama between Bili, Faldo, and Tibb calmed. Since then, little has been argued over the beautiful Roxanne. -Resignation- After all of these complexities occurred with the Elders, Bili Hollowmead decided to resign from the position of Deputy in town. With all of the recent happenings, he made the choice that continuing to be in such a demanding position would just add more leverage to oncoming incidents. Avoiding that entirely, he quit the job, and has since then taken on the job of volunteering and befriending those around the Vale.
  25. Bazian Grandaxe Was born from the fire and anvil that is the Dwarven home. At a young age a huge earthquake shook the mine caverns and buried his village in a pile of rubble. The tragic accident left the boy to survive on his on in the dark caverns that used to be his home. Many days passed and the young boy was on the brink of starvation, until a group of Dwarven traders came to the rubble of the once proud town and rescued him from his deathly state. They took him back to their village and brought him to health. As the years progressed so did the boy. He grew stronger, smarter and brave. He attended the towns academy where he learned how to wield a sword and an axe. Now, all grown up, he seeks out the world looking onward to new possibilities that lay ahead. His first few days in Aegis where spent exploring the vast world and visiting the farthest reaches of the nations. He eventually came to the town of Al'Khazar to become an Oren guard. He spent his time there caring for the gatehouse and learning respect of the guards. Whilst up north, he had much contacted with the Undead and Iblees worshipers. He became curious of the ignorance of the Undead and wanted to get closer to their throats, so he set off to Snowy Fields to become a guard there. At those very walls, Bazian learned how to fight, and fight he did. He killed many of the Undead scourge and beasts of the night. During the last battle of Snowy Fields he was flung off the walls from a fireball casted by a wicked undead. Minions quickly surrounded him and hacked away. With all his might, he pushed himself in the freezing waters of the moat, away from the minions. Here he learned to show no fear, as fear meant death at this point. Bazian survived, but kept a reminder of those days with a scar cutting across his left eye, harming his vision. After the fall of Snowy Fields, Bazian headed for Kal'Urguan, never knowing of the city's grandness. He instantly fell in love with the dwarven city! Bazian quickly grabbed a guard position and a small house in the Inner city. Here he learned of pride and honor from the culture of these dwarven peoples. After a while, Bazian wanted to do more for the dwarven people, so he became an Ambassador for the Kingdom. Through Bazian's whole career, he was under the stewardship of three different Archbishops. Each one giving him a lasting impression, molding him into the dwarf you see today. Then a great opportunity arose. Decks leader of the Blackaxe accepted Bazian as his second in command. This was the chance Bazian needed to bring glory back to Kal'Urguan! For the next few months Bazian helped build the Blackaxe fort Kal'Domhian in the snow covered mountains of the north. The clan grew larger and larger, but Decks remain ever so silent and was never around. Eventually he got up and left Aegis, leaving the clan in Bazian's hands. Over the next weeks Bazian has been on his own for the first time in a long while, but this time he has the pressure of leading a whole clan of dwarves. So be the tale of Bazian Blackaxe, forever written.
