    Should I play the previous Witcher games before picking up the 3rd?

      its not necessary but playing tw2 might give you more of an understanding of the story

      You don't really need to play the other two, although you might want to look up the story line if you are new to the series, or if you want to really get into it, try the polish novels(don't know if they have English versions yet though).
