'All genders are made-up genders, but some are made up by more people than others.' - @Contrapoints but probably some tumblrina or something

Surely as we come towards 'equality' in society, gender becomes less and less relevant as it is no longer attached to roles that gender would have to fulfil in society. Eventually the only difference would be sex itself and the differences in biology. Gender as a spectrum doesn't make sense, if anyone can wear anything they like, do anything they like, etc. There's nothing stopping them expressing as a male for instance. Really, the only thing that's being claimed is weird pronouns.

I think that's maybe not a world view I agree with. I value going to an 'equal' society, where everyone has equal opportunity and ****, but that doesn't mean I want to strip labels that people take pride in- which is what these things do largely. They are ways for people to identify themselves, find others who share their view or gender identity, or whatever.
also it's sorta like when Christian people suddenly recently wanted to remove marriage as a legal thing when it became clear that gay marriage would be legal-- suddenly when the marginalized group wants the same thing as the majority of people are afford people will do anything to keep that way from them, y'know?

I see where you are coming from, but I feel as time progresses more and more, the interests and expressions which devided individuals has began to shorten substantially. For instance a gander in to fashion would show ideas being repurposed for the opposite gender. A rise in female sports fans and male fashionistas.
This is not synonymous with the creation of new genders, for in modern society you can choose to express yourself in a way so far past the norm, yet still be male. I don't feel new genders are as valid if they are based simply on minute expression such as clothing.
