Maybe it's because the certain player was a jerk to the certain people that hate that player and that player cannot fix what the player did in the past, no matter how hard the player tries.
I will admit, the high elf chat is not for everyone. It has rules and different things. Therefore it operates in a given way. Sometimes people are mean, I try to minimize it, but it can't always be fixed. Sorry for your experience.
