I understand druidism, as voidal taint is opposed to the Aspect's concept of natural harmony. I've only found adverse reactions between paladins and voidal creatures in the lore which makes perfect sense to me; but never magic bearing descendants. This piece appears to suppose that void mages have corrupted souls which I haven't seen mentioned in any Voidal lore thus far, which is the root of my inquiry. edit* I scanned some of the newer pieces related to Void Magic and found this one instance of a tainted soul, following the pursuance of this feat.

Great piece, however I'd like to probe a bit. I'm getting a sense of disconnection between this magic and void magic. Why would the two be adverse to one another?

Even though it's a magic based around swordplay I was very happy to see some non combat use! I see an opportunity for a really interesting interaction if one's sword is broken and how it could affect them psychologically or physically. Perhaps you'd consider writing something like this in?

- Somewhere across the vast expanse of earth, there exists an unseemly glade far from the spread of civilization. There were hundreds like it that far out, thousands even. A thick tree line encircled this fertile patch, and a clear creek ran along its eastern perimeter; A novelty in such a case. The floras that dotted this patch of land lent to a rather picturesque locale suitable for it’s other prominent resident. The Elf of foreign origin who dwelled here. She donned a simple linen cloak hewn from the gifts of the land, bore no jewelry or trinkets, and wore her hair down with length nearly reaching the forest floor. In most accounts she was a being that appeared natural in the most simple and complex definitions. A layman may, however, be stricken by the glazed over distant gaze that no longer saw the present. There were only visions, chaotic and rarely legible. Reality as observed by this woman, only persisted partially with hallucination. In feats of great exercise, she tended to her basic needs. Her experience was largely the content of the Void in it’s all-ness and nothingness at once. Dual warring concepts, yet interconnected, propagated this Elf’s mindspace. During these bouts she took on a meditative stance with legs crossed and her hands connected at the base of her solar plexus. The Elf’s organic mind, rather the relic memories of times long passed, were the only other residents of the maelstrom. Appearing as flickers ordinarily indistinguishable from else in the scape. Yet certain memories armed with emotional tether sometimes reignited providence to carry the elfess along. Strangely, were they arranged perhaps they would play out a message on how to act next. This self-communication may decide who, or whether, to be after all.

I like necessitating a material, not a fan of that being hallucinogens; treads rather close to shamanism. I’d have rather seen candles, chimes, and/or meditations bowls. Glowy eyes seems like an ‘eh’ solution to giving spellcasting more noticeable attributes. I think more deliberation can be had on that matter. Otherwise, the rest of this is quality of life improvement and clarification. Good!

The combat spells you present are fair and represent a healthy portion of the spell tactics I’ve seen with the evocation over the years in it’s freeform days. Permanence seems a little under cooked on an initial read, but it’s potentially just that it’ll be better in practice than I’m predicting. rockgang

Lookin good. My one gripe is that it’s stated here that sand is difficult to conjure because of the intricate grains. Previous lore had it such that grains were easier to ‘pull’ through the void due to their minuscule nature, thus making it simpler to call it forth in larger quantities. Stone is fairly simple in structure, so if the concept of sand being somehow ‘intricate’ is thrown out this would be otherwise satisfactory.

They’re getting a little more acceptable each time they get rewritten. This one could make it through, might take another one or two posts. Keep at it lads +1

I like the simplicity of a specific spell for eyesight. I guess I’m pretty practical when it comes to stuff like this, I’m of the opinion that not everything needs to be grandiose and wide reaching. On that note, I’d like to see this piece integrated into a future Transfig rewrite of course. Though I cannot say I’m certain how many months in the future that will be, if ever. No pain in taking the shot now.

The Void is an all encompassing anomaly. Through it, many magical marvels have come to fruition. Most recently would be the spell Restora Optica, one by which an individual may regain their sight through clever spell weaving. Restora Optica Abilities A single purified crystal orb is hexed by a voidal artisan to read the mana of the surroundings somewhat akin to the feat of feeling. The difference being that the spell is only identifying what is occurring at the exterior of an area. This specific information about the light, air, and objects in a range, effectively one’s line of sight, is relayed to the subconscious through the bindings created between the enchanted eyeglass and the user. This binding is also responsible for fueling the enchantment, through which mana is siphoned passively from the user. In practice the mana usage of Restora Optica is not any more taxing than using one’s real eye. This principle relies on the understanding that every day physical functions use mana themselves, including the act of seeing. Restrictions As far as spells go, Restora Optica is a delicate one. Perfecting the intricate manipulation of mana is a difficult task, therefore some information being carried by the mana is lost in the process resulting an effect coined as ‘Wizard Vision’. A miasmic shroud of errant mana coexists with the imagery relayed through the enchantment. The crystal eyeglass itself can take on an array of colors and interior differences to be customized at the behest of the creator. Some might appear dimly glowing, with flecks of light mimicking the cosmos within, while others seem to contain a milky mass of swirling mist. The options are many. Redlines: -No more effective than plain eyesight. -The crystal eyeglass must exist in an empty descendant eye socket to be used. -Severe damage (a strong punch, stab, etc.) to the eyeglass results in a localized explosion, which will propel shards of glass into the surrounding tissues. -Tier 5 Transfiguration spell -Can be warded, causing loss of vision. -Can exist as replacements to one or both eyes.

Similar to some of the other concerns, I think this piece can be LOTC’ified a bit more.

I like pieces that give incentive to focusing solely on voidal magic. It’s a bit bare in it’s current state so I’m anticipating a load of additions and clarifications to get cobbled on top of what’s here if this passes.
