  1. "Thank God for that," commented a nearby Otto Sigmar (also in the Seven Skies).
  2. ENCYCLICAL LETTER PAX DEI ET TREUGA DEI PEACE AND TREATY OF GOD OF THE HIGH PONTIFF EVERARDUS SEXTUS Addressed to the Bishops, Priests, Deacons, and all the lay faithful. For the Cause of Martial Cessation and Unity Throughout Canondom HIS HOLINESS EVERARD VI, High Pontiff of the Church of the Canon, Archbishop of Visigia, Successor of the High Priesthood of the Church, Supreme Pontiff of the Church of True Faith, Keeper of the Canon, Missionary to Aeldin, High Servant to the Exalted's Testaments, Humble Servant of the Faithful and Vicar of GOD. “You will know him, for with peace he gathers the sons of Horen, where the sword has divided them.” (Gospel 7:53) Most Beloved Brethren, Health and Pontifical Benediction. Before We were elected to inherit the laurel of the Exalted, Our predecessor High Pontiff Tylos sought to further unify the Canonist princes in their shared faith. His mission was a unified front of all such sovereigns, to serve as a deterrent to heretic and pagan invaders of Canondom, and to bring peace between Canonists. We share Tylos’ dream, to bring peace to all descendents of Horen through our shared faith in God, for our God is peace, as Our predecessor Jude II made known in the Encyclical Letter “Deus est Pacem”. It is for this reason that We applaud the work of Our Princes in Hanseti-Ruska and Savoy, for their treaty of peace and defense, grounded in their shared identity as brothers in God. We are reminded of the words of Johan Cardinal Allobrogum during a sermon on Canonist unity, “Let all men set aside their swords, and work to build love between Canonist brothers and sisters”, as God intended. We are also reminded of the words from the Scroll of Auspice, “And by God’s will I redeem you of your failures, and send you to work Peace upon it.” God is peace, and by this treaty, Hanseti-Ruska and Savoy come ever closer to fulfilling the will of God. Therefore, building upon the fraternal love between the Canonist Princes of Hanseti-Ruska and Savoy, and following the example of Our namesake Everard IV, We declare the Peace of God, that no arms be raised against our brethren in humanity and the Church. We extend this proclamation to protect all Canonists: the meek, the civilian, men and women of the Church, and their property. All adversity and hostility are hereby condemned under penalty of admonition. The will of God for His chosen people is supreme, and those who act in defiance of this declaration condemn themselves to the Void. Furthermore, We declare a Truce of God, reaffirming Our Church’s standing prohibition on armed conflict between the levies of Canondom. We are all called to remember who our true enemies are: not our brethren in God, but rather the heresies and evils of Iblees. Henceforth, let it be known that disagreements between Our people must be solved through law and consultation, and that the Church makes herself available as a mediator when it is necessary. Heed that none among us ought to be filled with wrath; those who strike first, rejecting the will of God shall be rebuked and damned. To Our clergy: Your service has never been more important. Our God is Peace, Love, and Mercy, and it is we who must deliver that message to our flocks. We offer a spiritual wealth for which there is no worldly substitute. When you work, do so with the knowledge that We go with you. To Our laymen, know that We work for the greater good of all Canonists, that the will of God, and therefore of Peace, shall be realized and come to pass. The quadricentennial of the Revelation of Exalted Sigismund shall soon be upon us. During this most holy year, let us pray for the strength to seek Peace in all things, to show Mercy to those who have wronged us, and to Love our brothers as we love ourselves. Written in and published from the Pontifical Residence in Karosgrad, given to all Our flock on the 17th of Sigismund’s End/17th of Joma & Umund, in the year of our lord, 1846/399 ES, the eleventh of Our Pontificate. ☩AD MAIOREM DEI GLORIAM☩ FOR THE GREATER GLORY OF GOD UNITATEM IN DEO, THE VICAR OF GOD Sanctitas, Papa Everardus Sextus

We now announce in sorrow that the Cardinal is deceased, his soul enjoying eternal life with God in the Seven Skies. Cardinal Anders was a man that We knew well, having served first as his bishop in Karosgrad then as Patriarch, and now as Pontiff. His passing leaves a hole that We can only strive to fill. We pray that his life may be seen as an example to all young men and women who seek to serve the Church. Look to him for guidance on how best to serve God, and as a guide for what We expect all clergy to be. Therefore, through Our Apostolic Authority, We affirm the following veneration. VENERABLE CARDINAL ANDERS, Made Venerable for his faithful service to God, dedication to his flock in his station as Anders Cardinal Jorenus and in his role as Prelate of the Priesthood, devotion to the faith and sacrifice in his pursuit of justice through the Azdrazi Inquisition. SECTION V Through Our Pontifical authority, We declare the union between Rev Vuiller and Katerina Willows dissolved, on account of the latter’s abandonment of her marriage and duties as a wife. Their children shall remain legitimate in Our eyes. Additionally, We see it fit to annul the marriage between Arthur Galbraith and Safiya Oma Basrid, on account of the marriage being unconsummated. We pray for these people, that God may aid them in finding love in the future. SECTION VI Recently We were made aware that Queen-Mother Mariya of Haense, who We had assumed dead many decades ago, is alive and living in secret in Providence. When the Queen-Mother approached Us to confess her sins, We did not recognize her immediately, but over the course of her confession the Queen-Mother made her identity known to Us. She informed Us that she had faked her death and appearance through alchemical means in order to flee her marriage with Heinrik II of Haense. We do not know what events may have occurred in that marriage to lead to the Queen-Mother to believe she had no other option than to fake her own murder and commit such a great sin, but our God is a merciful one, and through the sacrament of confession the Queen-Mother has been forgiven for her sins. We urge Heinrik II to seek confession as well, should whatever occurred in this marriage require God’s forgiveness. However, this revelation calls into question two things, firstly, the legitimacy of the marriage between Annika of Astfield and Heinrik II, given Heinrik’s status before God as a man still married to Queen-Mother Mariya at the time, and secondly, the legitimacy of the children produced by this marriage. We are a firm believer in the principle that no child should suffer for the sins of their parents, and so, hereby issue a back-dated dissolution of the marriage between Queen-Mother Mariya and Henrik II. Any children produced by this marriage are legitimate before God, as are children produced by the marriage between Annika of Astfield and Heinrik II, which shall also be confirmed as legitimate through this back-dated dissolution. It is Our wish that all parties should reconcile, that the Queen-Mother may safely return to the lives of her children and seek their pardon as well. God is loving, and He desires that all Men should love each other. Let all Canonists heed His call and answer to the best of our ability. SECTION VII Through Our Apostolic Authority in the Pontificate, We do affirm these beatifications. BLESSED JAGO BROWNFOLK Bl. Jago Brownfolk was born in Brandybrook, a halfling village in the frontiers of Arcas. In his youth he was a drug dealer and sinner, but decided to seek God’s grace; he traveled the continent meeting with pagan and Canonist religious leaders, eventually finding peace in the priesthood. Thereafter he served faithfully as Bishop of Korvassa for 15 years, tending to his flock with such tender care that he even walked the desert to save lost or missing travelers. Bl. Jago perished at the last battle of the Inferi War, becoming a martyr of the Church. Miracle: A party of missionaries became lost in the southern desert, with very little water left. Their pastor prayed for Bl. Jago’s intercession, and upon waking in the morning the shadow of a halfling was visible on the horizon. Over the course of a week, the party followed Bl. Jago’s apparition to several unmapped oases and finally to the desert’s edge. SECTION VIII Through Our Apostolic Authority, and with the approval of a majority of the College of Cardinals, We hereby Beatify and Canonize the following: ST. ARIANNE HELVETS Patron Saint of Archers, the Forest, and Servitude. St. Arianne Helvets was born in 1729 in Ves, the capital city of the Kingdom of Kaedrin, to King Adrian Helvets and Queen Annabelle Lorin Sparrow. She was kept within the palace for a majority of her time, and often wreaked havoc among the palace staff with her little childish shenanigans and fiery spirit. To the displeasure of her mother and amusement of her father, Arianne often dirtied her dresses with her roughhousing or wild adventures in the royal gardens. She was a curious and lively child; there was hardly anything that could keep her from having her fun. Despite Arianne’s ungovernable behavior, she was a good and loving daughter. Her love for her parents and her siblings is immense, and shall always remain that way. Arianne’s parents ensured that she was raised with proper education on etiquacy as well as other arts, which the young princess did her best to follow; not wishing to disappoint her mother and father. As Arianne came of age, she was betrothed to Prince Andrik Petyr, the son and heir of King Andrik III of Haense. In time, Arianne would have become Queen of that country when Prince Andrik acceded to the throne of Haense. Arianne’s path led her elsewhere, however, as she disappeared a few years after the betrothal was announced. No one truly knows where she was during these years, but when she returned, her archery and woods skill had significantly increased. By this time, Prince Andrik had become King Andrik IV and married Maya of Muldav and Arianne, feeling guilty for having missed her opportunity to become Queen, swore her life in service to Haense. The rest of her life was devoted to doing good wherever she could, volunteering as a medic with the Haeseni army during the time of the Scyfling invasion, showing kindness to Scyfling refugees and assisting them with integrating into Haeseni life, and protecting the Barbanov children. In 1768, Arianne Helvets died shielding Princess Amelya Barbanov and Prince Godfric Alimar from Scyfling arrows. It is said that in her last moments, she prayed on the Lorraine Cross she wore around her neck, one that her mother had given her as a child. Miracle 1: A Haeseni woman, a mother, discovered that she had lumps in her stomach that could not be removed without killing her. Resigning to her fate, a death by illness, she prayed to Arianne Helvets that her death be quick and painless, and that her children would not suffer much after her passing. The next morning, when the woman went to be checked by a medic, the lumps had vanished entirely and the woman was cured. Miracle 2: In the years following the Scyfling War, a Scyfling hunter in the Wickwood was hunting when a Haeseni moose charged him. With no chance of escape and his death seeming imminent he prayed to Arianne Helvets, whom he had met when he was a young boy, and the moose stopped in its tracks. Instead of killing the hunter, the moose fell to the ground dead, and the hunter was able to take the carcass back to his family to feed them for many weeks. We have witnessed their wrath in the burning of New Esbec, and believe them to be behind the attacks on the Basilicas in Providence and San Luciano. We urge all Canonist princes to remain vigilant against this threat, one which has given no indication of a desire to convert or repent. We consider it a great sin to be in league with these creatures, or even to become one whilst pretending to be a Canonist. It has come to Our attention that Simon Pruvia is one such creature, a servant of Azdromoth. Therefore: We, the Pontificate and Most Holy College of Cardinals, hereby declare that the man known as ‘Simon Pruvia’ shall be EXCOMMUNICATED and branded ANATHEMA. They are hereby spiritually amputated from Our Holy Canonist Church and the Society of all Canonists. They are to be shunned, evicted, and brought to justice if captured by any and all settlements who claim union with the Holy Church of the Canon. SECTION V The dissolution of any marriage is a tragedy, but one caused by the excommunication of a spouse is an act that we consider to be merciful. With the excommunication of Simon Pruvia earlier in this bull, We declare the union between Anne Caroline and Simon Pruvia dissolved. Any children from the marriage shall remain legitimate. Additionally, We declare that the union between Maria de Rosius and Erik Tarcell Othaman dissolved, on account of the latter’s abandonment of the marriage. Any children from the marriage shall stay legitimate. We pray for the souls of the three affiliated parties, and wish them good fortune in the future. SECTION VI In Our previous bull, We created a commission to study the mention of a wine of sacrament in the Holy Scrolls, to be headed by Our Vice-Chancellor Casper Cardinal Providentia. In this effort, Cardinal Casper staffed his commission with Canon lawyers and scholars, great theologians all, who published a report addressed to Us on their findings. Through their research, they have concluded that the sharing of wine does not itself constitute a sacrament, though they also stated that it is the Church’s right to set things aside for holy purpose. We shall follow their recommendation, and instead of creating a new sacrament for the sharing of wine, shall create a rite for the consecration and sharing of wine. SECTION VII We have learned of the horrible events that transpired in Savoy this last Saint’s Day. We weep for the souls of all who lost their lives that day, including Basil Cardinal Allobrogum and Father Otto. We condemn all violence, and pray to God that He will grant peace to the world and to the hearts and minds of all His creations. As we stated in Our last encyclical letter, our God is a merciful one, and we must all strive to be like Him. This too can be forgiven, but only if the person responsible steps forward to confess to their crime. We urge all Canonist princes to hunt for this killer and take extra measures to ensure that such an attack will not occur elsewhere. We shall pray for justice for the killer of Our clergy, and We shall pray for their souls. SECTION VIII We call on all faithful Canonists to answer God’s call, for we are all called to service by the Lord of Lords, the King of Kings. Those who are skilled in fighting may serve God by joining the Supreme Order of the Exalted Owyn, and using their skills to protect Our clergy and Our flock. Those with a gift for speaking and interpreting may join to become a monk or a priest, to shepherd parts of God’s flock. Women too have a calling, either to serve as a deacon and aid priests with services or even perform them when no priest is available, or as a nun to provide charity and compassion to those who have none. All who wish to accept this higher calling are urged to speak to their local clergyman. Let all things be done for the greater glory of God. 8. Everard would wipe away a tear as he read the letter. Even though the reconstruction of the Basilica of the Ascent of Exalted Godfrey had not yet finished, he lit a candle at the entrance to the Basilica's courtyard and offered a silent prayer for all who died.

  12. ENCYCLICAL LETTER DEUS ABSOLVES OMNES GOD ABSOLVES ALL OF THE HIGH PONTIFF EVERARDUS SEXTUS Addressed to His Grace, The Bishop San Luciano, Fr. Paul. On Duke William and His Grace’s Offensive Against Rozania. HIS HOLINESS EVERARD VI, High Pontiff of the Church of the Canon, Archbishop of Visigia, Successor of the High Priesthood of the Church, Supreme Pontiff of the Church of True Faith, Keeper of the Canon, Missionary to Aeldin, High Servant to the Exalted's Testaments, Humble Servant of the Faithful and Vicar of GOD. Most Beloved Brethren, Health and Pontifical Benediction. We address you, Bishop San Luciano, in response to your queries sent to Us; for the better instruction of Virtue, We make this response available to those who have affixed their name to your letter, and to the larger public of your region. Chiefly, We commend you for your zeal and concern for the Virtue of all men. However, because of that same zeal, We must also caution you against becoming distracted from a pastor’s highest responsibility: the tender care of his own parishioners. Your recent letter to Us, particularly because it was issued in a public manner, concerned Us that you are being led to disregard Our authority as the Vicar of God. As a pastor you are most responsible for the souls of your flock. As We are the pastor of pastors, We must ensure you are not misled, nor are any of your readers through you. As We declared through Pontifical Missive a few months ago, the Duke of Rozania and members of his council came to Us contrite and with pure intentions, desiring to convert to Canonism. This conversion was performed by Us, and We have determined it to be sincere. Not many heathens would accept a demotion in dignity for the sake of conversion, yet Duke William willingly surrendered his royal title in exchange for salvation, and We mercifully granted him the ducal rank he now holds. We remind you it is not for any priest, not from the lowest chaplain to the highest cardinal, to dismiss any new convert as insincere or temporary. Rather, it is the duty of the clergy to heal the sinner, delivering unto them the forgiveness of God, thereby upholding the faith in doing so. This is the duty of all ordained men. Your rhetoric against Duke William strays deadly close to betraying this duty by undermining the very nature of baptism, which is absolute forgiveness through God. We have delivered unto Rozania a forgiven, Canonist ruler, and you now risk the welfare of yourself and your flock seeking to punish crimes already absolved. In the most stringent and fatherly spirit, as bearer of the laurel of prophets, We must admonish you against this attitude. It imperils many souls. We are reminded of the story of Harren Horenson, who married an elf woman and rejected the laurel of prophets thrice before finally being forsaken of the prophetic office by God. Even then, he was permitted to rule for seven years while Exalted Owyn attempted to obtain his conversion. And finally, in the end, Exalted Owyn was successful in obtaining Harren’s contrition; yet, Exalted Owyn then sinned when he killed Harren rather than forgiving him. We read in the Scroll of Gospel, Book 4, verses 51-53: “Here, the Lord spoke ‘O Owyn, Son of Godwin, Son of Horen, you spill the blood of your uncle in the tabernacle of Horen. Even as My holiest city was sacred in spite of Harren’s rejection, it is spoiled by the blood of kin. You betray man with your wrath, and once again Horen’s sons are divided.’” Heed that! Instructing us in Virtue, God tells of both the triumphs and failures of Our prophets. Do not fail as Ex. Owyn did. Do not reject the contrition of a man whose virtue was hard-won. Indeed, Ex. Owyn’s sin was so grievous that it initiated a full millennium of Silence from God. Yet it is written three verses later, in verse 56, “But you remain My prophet.” Gospel book 6, verse 45 further says of this “The Lord is merciful, and waits for our penance.” Duke William has sought the Lord’s forgiveness, and it was granted to him through Us. Where he was once a wicked Harren, he has now become like a forgiven Ex. Owyn. As God commands, if you repent, We shall forgive you for this sin of wrath, so alike to Ex. Owyn’s, for all of us have failed and fallen short of Him. Regarding your jurisdictional argument, We are confused as to why you feel We have slighted the Princes in any way. It is Our prerogative to confer consecration as a sovereign, and to describe Our investiture and baptism of Duke William as a slight inflicted upon Their Highnesses is a preposterous construct, one which threatens to infringe upon the authority of the Church herself. Indeed, heed that were it not for this authority of Ours, We could not have also crowned the honorable Prince of Savoy just this year. This questioning of Our right to invest Duke William as the leader of Rozania disparages Our very right to consecrate men in and of itself. In doing so, you have risked the souls of your parishioners, who may now be led to call into question their own ruler’s authority within his own domain; for verily, if the Duke of Rozania’s rule is not legitimate despite Our deeming it such, then all invested by Our hand may be treated in the same manner. We say to you that it is not a slight for a man to rule upon that which is within his prerogative; the coronation of princes is decidedly the authority of the Vicar of God, and not that of neighboring pastors. In regards to the post-baptismal crimes, We dedicate ourselves to the spiritual care of all Canonist princes whom We consecrate. We received notice from Duke William soon after this attempted invalid marriage, one that the Duke himself attempted to stop upon discovering the racial identity of the participants. Even the elf-groom’s brother, one Minuvas Melphestaus, was present during the ceremony and assisted in putting an end to it as well. The path to the Seven Skies can be a difficult one, particularly for a place once so fallen as Rozania, but We commit Ourselves to ensuring that every possible soul is saved from the Void. We realize that We have spoken to you in somewhat strict terms, but We are your Pontiff and therefore, as such, We do not tolerate these errors. Yet, as a Canonist, We remain eternally your brother and therefore, We love you as a brother unto his brother. In this, We will cite the works of St. Pius of Sutica: “. . . the Church is intolerant in principle because she believes; she is tolerant in practice, because she loves. . . It is in sin that we ought to be tolerant, for we, too, are sinners. But in error, the Church ought to admonish and anathema, for she has no false doctrine.” We shall continue to pray for your soul, as We pray for all Canonists, and with loving concern We anticipate your contrition for these errors. Written in and published from the Holy See of Providentia, given to all Our flock on the 5th of Tobias’s Bounty, in the year of our lord, 1837, the second of Our Pontificate. ☩AD MAIOREM DEI GLORIAM☩ FOR THE GREATER GLORY OF GOD UNITATEM IN DEO, THE VICAR OF GOD Sanctitas, Papa Everardus Sextus
  13. THE CONVERSION OF ROZANIA An artist’s depiction of the baptism of William Buckfort and his council by Everard VI, c. 1836. Pontifical couriers would spread throughout the Canonist nations, leaving bulletins on Church notice boards for all to see. “To all Our faithful, We are pleased to announce a new member to Canondom, the Duchy of Rozania. Duke William Buckfort and members of his council were baptized by Us at a ceremony in Corazon, witnessed by Vladrick Cardinal Nescia and the Lord Commissioner of Savoy, Lomiei. All freely confessed to sins committed before their conversion, and then were baptized in the Holy Waters of Gamesh. We are excited by this expansion of Canonism, and hopeful that faith will continue to spread through the good works that Duke William will do in the name of God. We are, however, aware of accusations that the Duke is undead. Let Us put these to rest here and now. The Duke is niet undead, nor should he or his people be treated as heretics and pagans. They are Canonists, brought to the light by the Holy Scrolls, the Exalted, and all the Saints in the Seven Skies. Any further aggression against them shall be viewed as a disruption of the peace between Canonists that God demands, and shall be treated as such. ☩UT BENEDICAT TIBI DEUS OMNIA☩ GOD BLESS YOU ALL Signed, HIS HOLINESS EVERARD VI, High Pontiff of the Church of the Canon, Archbishop of Visigia, Successor of the High Priesthood of the Church, Supreme Pontiff of the Church of True Faith, Keeper of the Canon, Missionary to Aeldin, High Servant to the Exalted's Testaments, Humble Servant of the Faithful and Vicar of GOD”
  14. Everard VI, born Yaromir Nikuldov, simply thought it best to use a third party location where he would be welcome.
  15. Everard VI wiped the sweat from his brow at the conclusion of a meeting, hopeful for a brighter future for all of Canondom.
  16. THE AURVELDT CONCORDAT Agreed on this 13th of Horen’s Calling, 1837 Between the Holy Orenian Empire and the Principality of Savoy Article I. Restoration of Savoy WHEREAS, the imperial crown is pleased to see the recent restoration of an ancient and faithful realm of humanity, so often a friend to Canondom, and; WHEREAS, the Savoyard title has been throughout history a creation of the Holy Orenian Emperors and the prophetic bloodlines of Ex. Godfrey and Ex. Sigismund; THEREFORE, in the spirit of fraternity between the Canonist realms, the imperial crown does convey--free of all feudal obligations and with full sovereignty and independence--the Savoyard title to Our friend Olivier Renault Ashford de Savoie, that he may be coronated into the office of Prince of Savoy by the willing High Pontiff, and that further this title shall remain with his family for so long as they shall reign over sovereign Savoy. AND FURTHER, as a sign of the imperial crown’s desire for a family of Canonist nations, each alike in dignity, we further convey Cavan, Bar, Junavos, Virdain, Peremont, Lewes, and Caer Rhoswyn, under such terms as Savoy was given. Article II. Recognition WHEREAS, the Fidei Defensor does consider it his obligation to preserve harmony among the several Canonist states, and; WHEREAS, the Savoyard title shall by this concordat be conveyed to a sovereign realm, separate from the imperial throne; THEREFORE, the signatory parties do mutually recognize the existing lines of succession to their respective thrones. AND FURTHER, the Prince of Savoy does recognize the legitimacy of those titles held and in abeyance as they exist in the Holy Orenian Empire, excepting those which have now been conveyed to him by this concordat. Signed, HIS HOLINESS, Everard VI, High Pontiff of the Church of the Canon, Archbishop of Visigia, Successor of the High Priesthood of the Church, Supreme Pontiff of the Church of True Faith, Keeper of the Canon, Missionary to Aeldin, High Servant to the Exalted's Testaments, Humble Servant of the Faithful and Vicar of GOD HIS IMPERIAL HIGHNESS, Philip Augustus, Duke of Crestfall and Prince-Regent, on behalf of his beloved brother, HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY, John VIII, by the grace of GOD Holy Orenian Emperor, forever August, King of Renatus, Curon, Kaedrin, Salvus, and Seventis, Defender of the Faith, Grand Duke of Ves, Duke of Adria, Novellen and Lorraine, Baron of Renzfeld, Protector of the Heartlanders, Orenian Highlanders, and Farfolk, etcetera HIS SERENE HIGHNESS, Olivier Renault Ashford de Savoie, Prince of Savoy, Duke of Corazon, Count of San Luciano

Johan Vuiller Pontifical Secretary, The Reverend, Father Ernst Pontifical Chamberlain, His Eminence, Basil Cardinal Allobrogum Apostolic General, His Excellency, Armand de Rennes The Holy Mother, Her Excellency, Guilia Toffana SECTION IV It is through Our Apostolic Right, bestowed unto Us through the Laurel derived from the Exalted, that We see it fit to reconstruct, merge, and establish the following Archdioceses, so that Our church may be better and more efficiently managed by the accordingly appointed shepherds. The Archdiocese of Nescia shall be split in half, creating two new Archdioceses: ARCHDIOCESE OF NESCIA Encompassing the southern region of the northern continent, including the land of the Vasoyevi, Sedan, and Du Loc, to be shepherded by Archbishop Vladrick Cardinal Nescia. ARCHDIOCESE OF ALLOBROGUM Encompassing the entirety of the Principality of Savoy and the lands of the Southern Continent, to be shepherded by Archbishop Basil Cardinal Allobrogum. The Diocese of Du Loc and the Diocese of Sedan shall be merged, becoming: DIOCESE OF AQUILA Encompassing the western half of the Archdiocese of Nescia, including Sedan, Du Loc, and surrounding territories, to be shepherded by Alfred Bishop Aquila. SECTION V We whose duty, granted by Apostolic right, is to shepherd the flock of God entrust the members of Our clergy with parts of that flock. They in turn are responsible for the well-being and nurturing of their community’s faith, a task entrusted to them not only by Us but also by God. They serve as an extension and member of Us, and to inflict harm upon one of them is to inflict harm upon Us. There are very few sins greater than this, to attempt to harm a member of Our clergy and faithful servant of God, yet there have been recent attempts to do such. Arlo Cooper, formerly a faithful member of the Imperial Ministry of Justice, savagely and brutally attacked Basil Cardinal Allobrogum with the intent of murdering him. By the grace of God, this attack was stopped and the would-be murderer chased away by the brave nuns of the Sisterhood of Saint Catherine. For this, We extend Our most sincere gratitude to the Sisters. Know that We keep you in Our prayers. Our predecessor had intended to punish him for this sin, yet was taken to the Seven Skies before having the opportunity to do so. Therefore: We, the Pontificate and Most Holy College of Cardinals, hereby declare that the man known as ‘Arlo Cooper’ shall be branded EXCOMMUNICATE and ANATHEMA. They are hereby spiritually amputated from Our Holy Canonist Church and the Society of all Canonists. They are to be shunned, evicted, and brought to justice if captured by any and all settlements who claim union with the Holy Church of the Canon. SECTION VI We write these declarations with much sorrow. After a long conversation with members of two different unions, We have come to the conclusion that these unions cannot continue. Therefore, We declare the union between Amelia Eleanora and Mata Leslie void, annulled on the grounds of their marriage being unconsummated. Additionally, We declare that the union between Primrose Gendrik and Arlo Cooper dissolved, on account of the latter’s excommunication from Our holy church. Any children from the marriage shall stay legitimate. We pray for the souls of the three affiliated parties, and wish them good fortune in the future. SECTION VII We have heard from Our clergy and Our faithful laypeople both regarding the mention of a sacrament of wine in the Holy Scrolls. This topic is of great interest to Us, but We mean to learn more about this sacrament before We initiate any reforms. As such, We shall form a Pontifical Commission to study this sacrament of wine, it’s meaning within the Scrolls, past usage of the sacrament if any, and finally to deliver to Us a recommendation for the future. To lead this commission, We shall appoint Our honorable Vice-Chancellor, Casper Cardinal Providentia, and grant him authority to appoint to this commission whomever he desires. May God bless him and the other commissioners with wisdom and intelligence for this undertaking. SECTION VIII Our predecessor initiated, shortly before his passing, an inquisition against the servants of Azdromoth. However, it has come to Our attention that there are other threats to Our flock: vampires. Our first contact with these creatures came during the reign of Our predecessor, when it was revealed that two of Our holy knights were secretly vampires. We mean to combat this infiltration into Our flock and Church, and shall add them as a focus of Our inquisition. All faithful Canonists are expected to remain ever vigilant, and report any suspected vampire or Azdrazi to local authorities. If one sees something, say something. May God grant Us victory in Our struggle against these evils. SECTION IX We have witnessed many wrongdoings towards the Canonist people of Haense by the elves of the Silver State of Haelun’or. Their willful disregard and disrespect towards Our faith, their willingness to harbor and fight for pagans that slander God and Azdrazi that burn our churches, and their violence towards Our flock cannot be easily forgotten or forgiven. We have additionally witnessed the issuing of an ultimatum by the Kingdom of Haense to the Silver State, and We have seen the declaration of war that followed the ignoring of this ultimatum. To the Kingdom of Haense, We wish you luck in your righteous war against the elves. May God grant your soldiers strength, your leaders wisdom, and your souls courage as you enter the crucible of war. Know that you take with you Our favor and prayers. We are, however, aware of an existing treaty between Our Fidei Defensor and the Silver State, as well as a treaty between the former and the Kingdom of Haense. We urge the leaders of Hanseti-Ruska to renew the latter treaty of neutrality. It is pleasing, not only to Us but to God as well, that His faithful show cooperation and friendship between them. Should it be required, We are willing to mediate any diplomatic meeting between the two nations, as Jude II did which led to the creation of this treaty. SECTION X Through Our Apostolic Authority, and with the approval of a majority of the College of Cardinals, We Canonize the following: ST. PIUS OF SUTICA Patron Saint of Confession, Elven Converts, and Parish Priests. Malgath, or Pius, was born 1610 in Taliyna’maehr, and was a Priest and a High Elf convert to Canonism. Pius of Sutica formed, along with Bl. Seraphim and Fr. Griffith of Gwynon, a spiritual movement called the ‘Tractarians’ - a name coming from ‘Tracts for the Times’. Pius rejected any form of rank besides Priest, for he believed that true spiritual reform did not come through high politics and Cardinalship, but rather through stirring the hearts of men as a humble parish Priest. His Holiness James II said the following about Pius: “An example of humility whom I wish to emulate and a teacher to whom I submit.” Pius of Sutica was known as a theologian and authored many spiritual and theological works. His texts and scriptures can be divided into the following categories; Commentary on Sacred Scripture, The Epistles, The Tracts, The Theses and Homilies, History, Liturgical and Devotional, and The Apologies. His works and interpretations of The Holy Scrolls, led to the betterment of Our faithful - laity and clergy alike. In 1803, Pius experienced a serene and happy death, and to the Church he said: “I am your brother and your friend. I will never cease watching over you.” To his friends he said: “I shall spend my time in heaven doing good on earth.” Miracle 1: A Priest and a Canonist woman were in Church, the Priest having trouble getting that woman to confess and looked to St. Pius for guidance. With the blessing of the canonized Priest, all the sins of the penitent were revealed to the confessor, to which he recited one by one and proceeded to absolve her of all sins revealed to him. It is by the account of the woman that when departing from the Church, her pockets were filled with the petals of roses, a sign of Saint Pius which We shall pay heed to in the future. Miracle 2: A suicidal man, a sinner in despair, prayed for St. Pius’ help in his moment of need while in isolation in the desert. As he prayed, a shower of rose petals fell upon him from the sky, though their origin was not visible or clear to the man. Upon seeing this, the man ran to the nearest cathedral and confessed his sins to the local priest. With his sins forgiven, he converted to Canonism and enjoyed the rest of his days as a pious and devout Canonist. 18. THE PONTIFICAL ENTHRONEMENT OF 1835 A procession of clergymen carry the newly elected Pontiff through the Basilica of the Ascended Godfrey. The College of Cardinals had locked themselves in the Basilica of the Ascended Godfrey for hours. Crowds outside the Cathedral swelled as faithful Canonists waited with anticipation for a glimpse for their future Pontiff. Finally, the doors were thrown open, and the crowd entered the Basilica, quickly taking up whatever open spot could be found. Prayers were muttered, candles were lit, but a hush fell over the Basilica as the doors to the College’s private room on the upper floors were opened. Out walked two Acolytes bearing candles, leading a procession of the Cardinals and at the rear, a man dressed in white. One by one, they descended stair after stair as they made their way from the upper to the ground floor. They marched reverently, making eye contact with none as they proceeded through the Basilica. Crowds reached out to touch the Pontiff-elect, though the ever vigilant knights of the Supreme Order of Exalted Owyn prevented such. Finally, the procession approached the Pontifical Throne of red fabric and gold lining, and the crowd finally caught a glimpse of their new shepherd. Cardinal Casper, who had carried the ballot box thus far, opened it, and read out the individual votes to the congregation. The Metropolitan said aloud, his voice echoing throughout the halls of the Basilica… Yaromir Cardinal Jorenus; Yaromir Cardinal Jorenus; Yaromir Cardinal Jorenus; Yaromir Cardinal Jorenus; Yaromir Cardinal Jorenus; Yaromir Cardinal Jorenus; Yaromir Cardinal Jorenus. The crowd cheered as they heard the results, some wholeheartedly and others surprised with the unanimity of the results. Despite this, Yaromir eased himself onto the throne as the Cardinals moved to either side. He rested his arms on the throne; his eyes gazed out over the cheering congregation. He showed little emotion, only cracking a soft smile at a face he recognized. Soon enough, Cardinal Anders stepped forward, and began the Prayer of Penitence: "Almighty and most merciful Creator, we have wandered and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against your holy laws. We have left undone those things that we ought to have done; and we have done those things that we ought not to have done; and there is no health in us. But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us sinners. Spare those who confess their faults. Restore those who are penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Horen our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Creator, for his sake, that we may live a disciplined, righteous and godly life, to the glory of your holy name. So say we all." Pontiff-Elect Yaromir rose from the throne then, and stepped down to ground level to face the altar. He genuflected before it and signed himself with the Hussariyan cross, returning to his feet as Cardinal Anders continued… “With the Lord Creator our witness and guide, it has been divined that the Yaromir of Jorenus, born Yaromir Nikuldov, has been willed to fulfill the seat of the Church Pontificate. Do you heed the call of Our Creator to bear this vocation?” Anders said before Yaromir replied, “I do so believe.” “You have been ordained in our church, your household names forsaken and your life devoted in sole service to the teachings of our Creator. The vows of your past vocations remain firm; now you must make the declaration of assent.” Cardinal Anders then proceeded to read the assent, an age old part of the ceremony preserved from Pontiff to Pontiff… “The Church of Faithful is the One, Holy and Rightful Church of the Creator , worshiping the one true God, The Creator. It professes the faith uniquely revealed in the Holy Scrolls and set forth in the Faithful creeds, which faith the Church is called upon to proclaim afresh in each generation. Led by the Holy Light, it has borne witness to Faithful truth in its historic formulates, the Articles of Faith, The Book of Saints. In the declaration you are about to make, will you affirm your loyalty to this inheritance of faith as your inspiration and guidance under God in bringing the grace and truth of Horen to this generation and making Him known to those in your care?” Yaromir would soon say, “I, Yaromir of Jorenus, do so affirm, and accordingly declare my belief in the faith which is revealed in the Holy Scrolls and set forth in the Faithful creeds and to which the historic formularies of the Church of The Creator bear witness; and in public prayer and administration of the sacraments, I will use only the forms of service which are authorized or allowed by Canon.” “Do you accept the Holy Scrolls as revealing all things necessary for eternal salvation through faith?” "I do so accept them." "Will you be diligent in prayer, in reading Holy Scrolls, and in all studies that will deepen your faith and fit you to bear witness to the truth of the Word?" "By the help of God, I will." "Will you lead your people in proclaiming the glorious Word of Horen, so that the good news of salvation may be heard in every place?" "By the help of God, I will." "Will you teach the doctrine of Horen as the Church of Faith has received it, will you refute error, and will you hand on entire the faith that is entrusted to you?" "By the help of God, I will." "Will you be faithful in ordaining and commissioning ministers of the Church?” "By the help of God, I will." “Will you be gentle and merciful for Horen’s sake to those who are in need, and speak for those who have no other to speak for them?” "By the help of God, I will." "Will you endeavor to fashion your own life and that of your household according to the way of God and make your home a place of hospitality and welcome?" "By the help of God, I will." "Will you work with your fellow servants in the Church for the sake of the kingdom of God?" "By the help of God, I will." "Will you accept the discipline of this Church, exercising authority with justice, courtesy and love, and always holding before you the example of Horen?" "By the help of God, I will." "Will you then, in the strength of the Holy Light, continually stir up the gift of God that is in you, that the good news of God may be proclaimed in all the Realm?" "By the help of God, I will."" "Speak thus then the oath of the Pontificate, with the conclave and God as witness." "I vow to change nothing of the received Tradition, and nothing thereof I have found before me guarded by my God-pleasing predecessors, to encroach upon, to alter, or to permit any innovation therein; To the contrary: with glowing affection as her truly faithful student and successor, to safeguard reverently the passed-on good, with my whole strength and utmost effort; To cleanse all that is in contradiction to the canonical order, should such appear; to guard the Holy Canons and Decrees of our Saints and Pontiffs as if they were the divine ordinance of Heaven, because I am conscious of Thee, whose place I take through the Grace of God, whose Vicarship I possess with Thy support, being subject to severest accounting before Thy Divine Tribunal over all that I shall confess; I swear to God Almighty and the Favored son Horen that I will keep whatever has been revealed through Horen and His Successors and whatever the Saints and my predecessors have defined and declared. I will keep without sacrifice to itself the discipline and the rite of the Church. I will put outside the Church whoever dares to go against this oath, may it be somebody else or I. If I should undertake to act in anything of contrary sense, or should permit that it will be executed, Thou willst not be merciful to me on the dreadful Day of Divine Justice. Accordingly, without exclusion, We subject to severest excommunication anyone -- be it Ourselves or be it another -- who would dare to undertake anything new in contradiction to this constituted Tradition and the purity of the Faith and the Faithful religion, or would seek to change anything by his opposing efforts, or would agree with those who undertake such a blasphemous venture." As Yaromir concluded the Oath, his forehead would be anointed with the Holy Waters of Gamesh, tracing the cross unto the Pontiff Elect’s forehead with a thumb dipped in those Holy Waters. As the small ceremony drew to a close, Cardinal Anders gently took the Pontifical Laurel from a small red pillow. With care, Anders lifted it from the pillow, holding it between both hands as he approached the throne. Raising an indescribably beautiful laurel above his head, Cardinal Anders gently lowered the laurel onto the head of Pontiff-Elect. With a bright smile, hands clasped in front of him, Cardinal Anders shifted to the side, looking at the congregation… "I announce to you a great joy: We have a High Pontiff! The Most Eminent and Most Reverend Lord, Yaromir of Jorenus. High Pontiff of the Canonist Faith who takes to himself the name..." “EVERARD THE SIXTH!”
  19. Yaromir slipped his vote into the wooden box, then faced his Cardinal peers. "Brothers in Godan, I have served vy faithfully as Prelate of the Clergy and as Vice-Chancellor. I pray that vy will place vyr faith in me again, and vote for me for High Pontiff of our faith."
  20. THE PONTIFICAL ELECTION OF 1835 The College of Cardinals moments before the Conclave of 1835. The doors of the Basilica of the Ascended Godfrey had been shut. Holy Knights and faithful laypeople stood guard outside as crowds formed around the church, yearning to catch a glimpse of the proceedings indoors. Inside sat seven holy men wearing bright red robes, the college of Tylos I, gathered to elect a new shepherd for the Canonist flock. Among them were Casper Cardinal Providentia, Basil Cardinal St. Henry, Vinzant Cardinal Buron, Ferdinand Cardinal St. Alexander, Anders Cardinal Edel, Vladrick Cardinal Sava, and at the center seat sat Vice-Chancellor Yaromir Cardinal Jorenus. Beside him rested a wooden box with only a small slit at the top, the box that would hold the name of the next High Pontiff. The Vice-Chancellor cleared his throat before reading from a pre-written prayer; “Heavenly Creator, walk with us as our mediator and judge to endow us with a sound mind and contrite heart in the election of the next Pontiff. Grant, we pray, that by your infinite wisdom and omnipotence that whomever is chosen shall reflect your mercy, compassion, strength, and duty in the exercising of this great Holy Office. This we ask in prayer, in the name of all Aenguls, all saints, and of the universal church, Amen.” Yaromir then signed the Hussariyan cross in benediction over the gathered Cardinals, signaling that it was time for them to cast their votes. 21. SEDE VACANTE The body of Tylos I surrounded by Cardinals and the Canonist faithful in the Papal Apartments, Providence. C. 1835 DECLARATION FROM THE OFFICE OF THE VICE-CHANCELLOR A silence fell over the Basilica of the Ascended Godfrey, clergymen prayed silently while nuns and other laywomen wept tears from their eyes. Knights from the Supreme Order of Exalted Owyn stood guard over an open casket, carrying the body of the late High Pontiff Tylos I. Young acolytes stood still on either side of the coffin, carrying tall candles out of reverence for the late Pontiff. His sudden death had come as a shock to all, left great sorrow in the hearts of all the faithful, clergy and laymen both. A DECLARATION With the passing of his late Holiness, Tylos I, the Church of the Canon hereby enters the position of “SEDE VACANTE” otherwise referred to as, “The Seat Being Vacant”. We pray to God, all the Exalteds and Saints, that He will grant wisdom to our College of Cardinals to choose a successor that is pleasing to Him. We pray that our new Pontiff be protected from the evils of sin, from greed and gluttony, from pride and selfishness. Rather, may he be a benevolent shepherd to the Canonist flock, guiding all the faithful through the troubles of our world, remaining obedient to God, serving as a light for those stuck in darkness. With this, through the power vested in me as Vice-Chancellor, I hereby summon the College of Cardinals to Conclave to elect our new Pontiff. ON BEHALF OF THE CHURCH OF CANON In Domini Nomen Oramus, Yaromir Cardinal Jorenus
  22. Patriarch Yaromir lit many candles in the Basilica and silently prayed for Tylos' soul.
  23. Patriarch Yaromir lit a candle in the Basilica of St Henrik, offering his prayers for the quick healing of his brother in Godani.
  24. Isaak Amador wiped a tear from his eye as he made a note to send a gift to his sister!
