who cares why are we thinking about this in terms of attracting players anyway?
how many balrogs did they mention in the rings trilogy? even though they’re ostensibly maiar corrupted by service to melkor and they have a bunch of deep lore and they come up in the silmarils, to 99% of people familiar with the mythos, they’re the big fire demon that fought gandalf. and they’re better that way. nobody needs to see like 20 active players on the same CA to be convinced by that creature or to enjoy rping with someone. people enjoy variety and creativity more than they value one ca race having more players, and you have to remember for the majority of the playerbase lotc is their personal adventure, they don’t know or care about how many people play muyakelgs or spriggans, but encountering one gives an opportunity for some interesting rp
you’re regurgitating seventhcircle’s language about “activity” but all that really does is rig the system in favor of **** like izkuthii, zar’ei and striga, which cast a broad net by having literally no drawbacks to rping, and have basically no identity other than as combat augmented ca races. I get the argument that spriggans act the same way as golems, but when you can convince me that the three aforementioned races act any differently I’ll believe you’re being wholehearted. Until then, what I’m really hearing is someone capitalizing on the mass shelfing to try and push their own unfounded opinions on the canon

Aging is an issue in itself, despite being a part of the curse. I’ve said my problems with it already.

How is that a human characteristic? Every other race has the ability to choose what they rp, old or not, at whatever age they choose to. The curses are a joke and the only one that actually limits anything is the human one. How do the other curses affect other races? In no way whatsoever, that’s how.

It takes 45 years from age 25 to reach 70s, when the aging process begins, where you’re supposed to start rping old age. That’s less than a year, and it’s a big issue only humans have. You can rp older age with any other race without being forced into it. And if it’s already allowed to set your own aging system, why not change the lore already? Who does it hurt?

This passage explains it nicely: “ Nonetheless, while humans can reach the age of 150 as far as we know, it rarely happens, since past the age of about 70 or 80, a human's health starts to decline more and more, many only being a shell of their past selves at about the age of 100, if they manage to even grow that old.”

Mistype, but what I’m saying is that you cannot play your character when he’s 100 years old. If people don’t like frail old man rp, which I’m sure many don’t because it’s unexciting, it means you have to drop your character. If you start it from it being 20-30 y/o, that means you have less than a year before it reaches that sweet spot of 70, which begins a period of increased aging, or rather, the beginning of frail old man rp.

Humans are the only descendants affected by this. It’s lowering the time of able RP for human characters because the aging’s just so fast. You say 2 years, but it’s not really 2, is it? It’s only 2 if you start rping from age 0, and even then, it’s 114. That means that if you start rping with the ripe old age of 20-30 years old, your character becomes unplayable in less than a year. Not to mention, talking about other curses, they are largely irrelevant and the only curse actively hurting anyone is the human one.

About the issue, 2 weeks for a year would make a lot more sense, since 14 months is closer to the real life 12 months and gives a lot more of that needed time. It also makes up for the jarring case of a year having half as many months as it should have. That said, I think the curses and creation lore are both a very big joke. Really rooting for that definite rewrite 5 years down the line. Something concrete and with a good staying power would be cherry topping. Fingers crossed.

I think that holy healing in its current state is too powerful to really be kept around. It was grandfathered in, as I heard, and should be taken down a peg or two. People should no longer be walking ambulances, this isn't an RPG server. It's purely RP based and as I see it, Aspirin++++ has really overstayed its welcome. No more instantaneous recovery, please. -

My problems with this lore are also that other descendants can make a descendant while nailing a plant, as well as phytophilia. I don't really know the dryad lore, but bryophites are genuine plants. While saying that it doesn't matter whether or not this point is addressed, you in turn have a point, but why address anything? It's a civil discussion in which someone discusses his idea with the community. That said, I'm still bothered by both things I pointed out. I don't see how a plant and a non plant make a non plant and while phytophilia (and maybe dendrophilia) may or may not be addressed, I still figured I'd bring it up. -
