  1. “Was it not Aurelius that seen him cast out? Where are the principles of this administration?” Commented a layman out by Ves.

  8. ”I foresaw this, you know.” Said Larry C. C., a man renown for his foresight. “First, Wilhelm and his wife had to die – for the Staunton snake is shedding its old skin now that all the real Horen’s are trapped at seas, or staking their claim... Out they slither, seeking to finish the job; they have to kill off the Devreux’s to have the best claim on the Kingdom of Courland. Why, without the title of Curon, the heir’s of Courland will never had the prestige they held following the destruction of the last Empire they smashed...” Continuing to ramble deep into the night, people would give him Free Ale to simply continue expounding.
  9. ”One would figure war would make leaders abandon the arts – what calm and certainty one must feel, to have found both time and inspiration to write this to a vassal.” Said Brube, quite impressed, “Perhaps a golden age of literature is upon us?”
  10. Brube of Reza fondly recalls scribing for the historic affair, his notebooks abound with details of the meetings in fair Nenzing.

  15. [!] By way of Leuven and Reza does a a thesis find reprint, for the writer, young Brube O. B., was a known pupil of the late Pontiff Pontian. Initially appearing in churches as missives for review, some would find their way to local libraries and read as follows. [!] Acolytes in the days of old presenting their studies to a priest, 1487 Young am I, yet I have been fatigued already on this arduous journey of life. Thankful I become then to give myself pause, for in my pause I have found not just rest, but folly in my hardening heart; for I see that it is not courage that has made it swell, but bitterness that has attempted to callous it. To Saint Tobias I have pleaded for luck many a tear filled night, but wickedly have I in that same breath wished misfortune upon others - namely, Marius the Second and his Knight Paramount, my own trainer, fair Knight Paramount Ser Rodrik Kotrevich. Perhaps Saint Tobias heeds my pleas, but I know now I dismay Godan for being such a base boy. Slight are these grievances compared to the damnation I nearly embraced in folly though, for vengeance and pride. Looking to them, I sought to bereave them, to damn them for the loss of my brother and to reverse the role I have found myself in due to the denunciation of my line. Neither my brother or name though will ever be restored, and in realizing such, I wondered what good would come from such a task. Through such though, in temperate reflection, I have seen to the only logical outcome - my life dedicated to turbulent quarrels in which may never cease. For it is not the claim I care for - as never in my life have I given thought to rule, and it is not protect myself, as I have been safe and bettering each day that has passed since Marius the Second took me on as his ward. Nay, it is for petty revenge - the satiation of a bloodlust that might make an Uruk of me. Bitterness though is much like a vine though, obscuring whatever it holds and weaving itself about to provide one a false sense of security. Knowing now the foolishness of my disdain is only the first piece of the peace that I seek, as it behooves me to act righteously. Godan know I would be a liar though if I said I had cleared all these vines of bitterness; so to the garden of my soul I shall continue to tend, until pain is replaced by the beauty and bounty of love and wisdom wrought from the virtues of Patience and Temperance. Signed, Brube Olenk Buzabec of Reza

@Publius I tried doing this when I was NL back last summer. It worked pretty fine, a lot of IC influences suddenly appeared on decision making. The main issue, however, was time zones. This’d dangerously limit diplomacy to US players.

@Publius I try to do this sometimes, but since every other settlement uses OOC planning to better coordinate themselves, not planning stuff OOCly means that Brandybrook is out at a disadvantage compared to others.

  18. “Emperor Antonius left to visit Aeldin, and the Curonite navy prevents his return,” Notably notes the notable Larry C. C., revealing the conspiracy quietly at a roadside tavern near Helena, “They blind the Imperials by setting Devreux women on their lap as many succumb to their venom – Adria’s burning, Haense’s betrayal... It all makes sense, and due to the rather hefty nature of the royal house, it is not as if the Imperials can simply cast off these women, they are pinned! Courland has finally destroyed the Empire a second time...” At that, he proceeded to plead for free drinks from patron he tried to pass this story off to.
  19. Brube signs from deep within the Palace in Reza, the chubby and acne ridden boy seeming solemn all the while!
  20. ”Ah, fair barman, we bring news from Reza...” It had been a quiet night at the Helbruke tavern, a blemish covered youth staffed the bar as all went away on business to Reza. Whatever boredom he had faced for remaining though, it beat what he would have faced if he had gone to his cousin’s palace... Into the tavern stepped several men, seemingly relieved to be done with the day’s business – one recognized young Brube Barbanov manning the bar. Tense in expression, the man took a seat in front of him, leaned forth, and beckoned the boy closer as he offered to detail the court’s proceedings. ”Boy... You may wish to flee these lands – the King has called all Barbanovs born of your father illegitimate, and had your brother slain by a Knight for hurling insults in protest – Andrei, I think his name was.” Dumbfounded, the chubby and acne ridden youth was unsure if this was a cruel jest – but then, the Leuven man produced a missive for him which detailed his misfortune. Such nearly made him weep in memory of his brother, almost scream in terror. For fear of betraying his identity to someone less sympathetic though, he simply continued to serve the patrons as they entered with a forlorn look. Alone that night, the boy considered suicide. In his mind, there was not a doubt he would be slain. To many, he sent letters, pleading for help and asylum. Looking in the mirror, he wondered what chance he stood to survive. Deep into the night, a sobbing boy could be heard upstairs at Helbruke.
  21. Young Brube Barbanov received this news, alongside the news of his brother’s death, with horror. Weeping for his brother Andrei, he knew not what to do – Leuven was aneath the King of Haense, and he was not sure how long it would be until they sought him...
