Growing up poor and without a mother, she and her brother Aeden were raised by her father, who was a soldier. The two would play in the yard outside, for hours on end. When ever she wasn’t playing with Aeden, she would be taught some skills of combat by her father. Life was good, until the Battle of the Dreadfort, that was when their father was constantly traveling following the tide of war, and hardly had time for his children. Anabeth was the oldest, she scavenged for little morsels that she could find to feed her brother. After nearly dying of starvation she and her brother . struggled to stay alive through the cold winters and blistering summers. Her and her brother were eventually sold by their father into slavery, for a quick mina, when she was 16. She was shipped by the carriages whom were avoiding the terror of the flood in their home land. Having to tend to farms in Athera in the sweltering heat of summer, she stole little grains from the wheat. Her brother was to work with livestock, only to break under the crack of the whip, dying an unfortunate death. Anabeth couldn't help but weep through her work. She mourned the loss of her brother, always wanting to be able to bury him, and to wreak vengeance on the slave owners. Until one day she picked up a sickle from the barn, and killed her master, running away to anywhere where there was freedom.
