Haes Colborn var Venzia, s. Haes Colborn var Slesvik] traces its descent into antiquity from the Atheran Scyflings, semi-civilized tribes native to that continent. St. Carolus of Carrenhall [alt. Carr Colborn] is the first true member of the house as it is meaningfully known; for a time the wealthiest man on the continent, his fortunes - and the skill of his grandson - would catch the attentions of John II, Holy Orenian Emperor, who enfeoffed the County of Metterden to Eirik Colborn in 1548. They would in turn act as a large factor in the pacification of the Erochland, and were raised from its governors to its dukes; as such they took for their own vassals the House of Ruthern [alt. Haes Ruthern var Metterden]. With the flooding of the isles, however, their rule collapsed; while their vassal would survive the calamity with its holdings intact, the Colborns lost their lands and titles. The family would regain their recognized nobility with the granting of the Barony of Bethlenen in 433 ES to Adrian Colborn, some three hundred years later. Venzia The title of Venzia first appeared approx. 1685-1691 during the rule of Robert I, XII. Koeng i Edaleo ag Kusoraev, granted as a subsidiary barony within the greater Carnatian duchy to Henrik Kovachev, XVIII. Herzen i Carnatia, upon his reaffirmation of the House of Kovachev’s [alt. Haes Kovachev var Kovgrad] loyalty to the Haeseni crown. In the era of Marus II, XIII. Koeng i Edaleo ag Kusoraev, the duke of Carnatia went missing and was declared legally dead in THE KOVACHEV ARBITRATION ACT, 1709 [alt. VE KOVACHEV ARBITRATION EDYKT, 262]; his lands, and by extension the barony of Venzia, were reverted to the Crown. It would not be separately reconstituted until 448ES when it was granted to TH Maric, II. Bossir i Bethlenen, in the ROYAL LETTERS FOR THE VISCOUNTY OF VENZIA. This year marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of Colborn rule over the region. Notably, each Colborn has been chosen by their predecessors in the Scyfling way rather than the cognatic succession of great favor in recent years; that honor has by such way fallen upon Carolus Ivan. This has by extension left both a large portion of its house in what the rest of the kingdom would consider its main line, as well as left a good deal of prior patriarchs and matriarchs still living. Until this past year, the first viscount of Venzia still lived though the fourth ruled. It is partly by this logic that the other Colborn of note is Ser Baldrumm Carr, who has just last year completed his Bogatyr test and whom previously served as the III. Vikomit i Venzia. LAND AND PEOPLE Venzia is located atop a slope east of Lake Voron surrounded by sparsely packed evergreens that cascade down toward the water's edge. It is one of the great castles that call Lake Voron their home, sharing the shores with Valwyck, Ostervik, and Jerovitz. The castle itself is named Vorenburg after the slope it rests upon and the lake it rests beside. The path leading up towards the keep houses memorials to some distant founders of the house, Eirik, Osgod, and Carr, Saint of Carrenhall and patron saint of the house. Furthermore, directly outside the castle is the Colborns’ traditional funeral pyre, also in keeping with the scyfling style. Vorenburg is a lengthy structure, spanning the entirety of the hill it rests upon, and is covered in regularly-refinished white harling which makes the keep look as if it is from a different time and place. It houses a large courtyard with a small river running through and out toward the lake. It has 6 decorative towers, with one side left entirely defenseless for a cathedral built into the keep. The windows are high above the landscape with one portion of the castle having a hoarding suspended; the authors must note, however, that this appeared to serve only aesthetic purposes. Otherwise, as our audience well knows, the hoarding would have extended towards the front. Additionally, the turrets and towers are all recreational save for the singular defensive tower in the front along with a gate. It is a sole-standing structure, and any peoples of Venzia are housed within - the vast majority if not all of the ignoble populace would therefore be the servants of the Colborns in some capacity. Curiously, there are three smaller wooden air vents around the keep and two larger brick ones that provide air to something below the surface out of sight of the author's eyes. As there is no supporting village for the suspiciously well-maintained castle, we suspect it is some sort of enchanted celiaware business spanning the entirety of Almaris or an unapproved faux fur factory. Howbeit, it is most probably a forgery of some sort considering the Colborns’ primary industry of scyfling armaments. WEATHER Venzia has solid, easily predictable transitions between seasons, with a rather frigid wind that cascades down from the glaciers in the North. Hollies, fruit bushes, and conifers make up the only ‘harvests’ in the area. HOUSEHOLD Form. Jeazik Maan, Herzenlund Gencikmaan va Papej ag Mamej Auth. Note Due to the complexities of inheritance within the Colborn lineage, the authors have seen fit to recognize the Viscount of Venzia’s direct children as being a part of the primary family, while auxiliary would be the children of siblings as well as any other members of the house. Holy Ser Osgod Colborn Knighted a Holy Ser under The Order of The Back Sepulchre. Served in Oren as Commander of Orenian troops, ending the Lorraine Uprising. Later in life, inherited the County of Metterden and Duchy of Eroch. He then secured House Ruthern as nobility by offering the imperial title of Metterden to them. When the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska was finally formed, Osgod was then the First Lord Marshal as well as a Knight of the Kongzem - as a Winged Hussar. Eirik Colborn Eirik was the Seal of St. Tobias, otherwise known as the Treasurer of Oren, 1st Baron of Slesvik, and 2ed Baron of Carrenhall & Carrendall, 1st Count of Metterden, and 1st Duke of Eroch. In his late years, he served as a commander and strategist during the Grayspine Rebellion. Matias Frederik Colborn Was known for his diplomatic channels which bought time for Haense, and by extension the Empire, to prepare for Flay invanders. For this, he was awarded the Duchy of Eroch and is the last holder of this title to this very day. Later, he served as Palatine and fought dark forces in neighbouring countries such as Voidal Horror's. GENEALOGIE HAES VIKOMIT Form. Gencikmaanehr. Maan, Herzenlund St. Carolus of Carrenhall, I. 2. The gentle, round, face of Blessed Maya Ceciliya greeted her older sister in the skies. Tears fell from her cheeks, expressing briefly her regrets on the overwhelming mess she had made of sisterhood. There were few things Maya would have done differently in her god given lifetime, but one of those would have been to love her sister wholeheartedly. To not find shame in shadow. To learn from an eager teacher. All of which had been impossible because of herself.
  3. From the skies, Austina of Aldersberg watched with blessed eyes. She had loved her second son, and although never given the chance to direct the title personally to him, was proud of the boy.
  4. Austina’s knuckles were white with grief as a woman prayed and bargained from above, watching in silence.
  5. ANNOUNCEMENT OF PASSING Penned in C. 1914 After years of fighting illness, and with great sadness, the Duchy of Adria hereby announces the passing of the Duchess Austina Prudence Sarkozic nee Aldersberg-Novellen, Countess of Aldersberg on the 8th of Harren’s Folly, 1914. Eventually succumbing to a disease of the blood surrounded by her closest family. Later, a private burial and ceremony were held. She was the only daughter of the deceased Count Edward Clement and Dowager Anne Josephine, spending the better part of her life unwell. Despite this, the Duchess accomplished many great things, spending time as a ward under Queen Amadea of Susa, writing historical biographies about many other looked women, and even her status as a Dame of Petra. As per her wishes, due to her son's young age, the title of Countess of Aldersberg and any family heirlooms will be passed to her niece, Cressida of Aldersberg, as heir to the title. IN NOMINE DEI His Grace, Heinrik I Sarkozic, Duke of Adria, Count of Veletzia, Dowager of Aldersberg, Protector of the Aaunic South, Keeper of the Swans
  6. THE WELLNESS OF THE DUCAL FAMILY Penned by the Secretary of the Duchess C. 1913 After a hard three years for the Ducal family of Sarkozic, we are pleased to announce the recovery of Duchess Austina and the eldest Sarkozic child, Suzana Otta. Both individuals had suffered a strange string of sicknesses before being confined to bed rest as recommended by the best doctors in Aaunic lands. While both were left weak after the bout of illness, they have reached a level of wellness where it is no longer a fear of the sickness spreading. The family now welcomes visitors to the Castle St. Emalyne to call on the Duchess as the pair continue to recover. Any remedies are welcome and those that aid in a swifter recovery will be highly rewarded. Praise GODAN for their recovery. IN NOMINE DEI His Grace, Heinrik I Sarkozic, Duke of Adria, Count of Veletzia, Count Consort of Aldersberg, Protector of the Aaunic South, Keeper of the Swans Her Grace, Dame Austina of Aldersberg, Countess of Aldersberg, Duchess Consort of Adria, Countess Consort of Veletzia, Dame of the Circle of Saint Emma
  7. The current Duchess of Adria, Austina Sarkozic, laid in her sick bed enjoying the dramatic story of Lady Anna. Eventually, she’d offer the script to her husband idly mentioning her desire to play Anna. @Beamon4
  8. From her sick bed, Austina managed a quiet smile as she read over the news. Although she would not make it to her nieces wedding due to her ailment, she was happy for the pair!
  9. Austina sees the invite on her husbands desk, taking it for herself…
  10. A CROWNING OF A DUKE Penned by the Duchess Austina and Historians of Adria C. 1910 Helming has long been a tradition of the Adrian and Raev people, often called a coronation to others, with notable additions. Since Heinrik Sarkozic’s election in the Fourth Dumapolooza in 1903, he has remained unhelmed. Although this is no fault of his, as the loyal historians of Adria have only recently rediscovered this long-forgotten tradition. The custom stems from the procession of Duke Franz I, where the details of his coronation were written on procedural scrolls. These scrolls were rumored to have been lost in the Burning of Brelus in 1521 but were uncovered and delivered with haste to the presiding Ducal house. Thus the ancient tradition of Ksiaz Helming might once more return to the Adrian people. ~-+-~ The practice begins by putting the Duke into a burlap sack. He is then tied by one leg to his wife and blindfolded. He must travel to the coronation guided only by the screams of his wife, the instructions of their most trusted advisor and God. If he can make it from his keep to the place of his coronation, he is seen fit by the grace of God and his people to rule. Once the Duke enters the site of his coronation, he may be permitted to untie himself from his wife and remove the burlap sack and blindfold. During the Helming itself, it is customary that the crowning is conducted by the presiding priest. Three saintly relics must be presented during the inauguration before it is considered a complete affair: > First, the Duke must drink from the Cup of Pyholvada, which bathed the toes of Saint Adrian of Leuvaarden. This instills the humility required of any good statesman. > Second, the Duke must don a pair of white gloves known to have belonged to Saint Catherine of Felsen. With this action, he acknowledges the necessity of mercy and generosity unto all people of God. > Finally, the Duke must draw Aventine, Sword of Victor of Owynswood. With this, he recognizes the great weight of protecting the Adrian people and his duty to lead from the front. ~-+-~ Schedule The Helming of Heinrik var Sarkoz as the 18th Duke of Adria shall take place forthwith. All leal subjects are hereby invited to attend and celebrate this momentous and long-awaited occasion. The following is an itinerary for the day: The Blind Procession The Duke will make the trek from his keep to the church blindfolded, in a burlap sack and tied to his wife by one leg. His wife and truest advisor must guide him carefully. By the grace of God, should he make it ‘mostly-in-one-piece’ to the altar, he shall be helmed. The Helming of Heinrik I Once he hath arrived, the Duke will have the Stelband of Adria placed on his head and be anointed with sacred oils. From there, he shall take up the three saintly relics and be proclaimed Duke of Adria. A Festive Feast Afterward, all people are welcome to attend a feast held in the hall of the Duke and Duchess of Adria. Stiff liquor and even stiffer bread will be served alongside greasy meats, per tradition. At the Duke’s request, chocolate coins will be given to each guest. IN NOMINE DEI His Grace, Heinrik I Sarkozic, Duke of Adria, Count of Veletzia, Count-Consort of Aldersberg, Protector of the Aaunic South, Keeper of the Swans Her Grace, Austina of Aldersberg, Countess of Aldersberg, Duchess Consort of Adria, Countess Consort of Veletzia AVE ADRIA

  13. “Oh hey look” Austina would mutter, looking over her husbands shoulders “Now you’re a count consort”

  18. An Aldersberg’s Jubilance An Invite to a Traditional Aldersbergian Birthday Bash The 14th of Sigismund’s End, 1907 Ladies gathered neatly around the Bard of Veletzia A ladies 16th nameday is a momentous occasion seen only once in a budding woman's lifetime. It is a time of celebration, reflection, and responsibilities. The women of Aldersberg have long celebrated traditional debuts in their respective social seasons, yet as time passed that tradition was no longer possible. However, to continue to live in the spirit of such, a lady of Aldersbergian status must complete a trial of charity and is then presented before all eligible bachelors in a festive dance. With this in mind, all are invited to Castle St. Emalyne to dance the evening away in celebration of Cressida Marie Aldersberg finally coming of age and completing her trial of charity that she shall present at the celebration. Gifts are most welcomed. ~-+-~ ITINERARY Welcoming of Guests Guests will be welcomed into St. Emalynesburg and announced at the entrance of the courtyard by the Court Screamer. People are encouraged to speak among themselves and leave their gifts for the Debut in a designated container. A Speech from Cressida The festivities will officially begin with Cressida’s entrance followed by a speech written by her for this special occasion. It will speak of her charity and hope to inspire those in attendance. Following such, she will be presented with the Tiara of Furnestock to wear for the rest of the evening. A Waltz A classical harp player will perform waltzing music and guests are invited to dance among the cherry blossoms within the courtyard of St. Emalynesburg until their feet tire. 20. On the 16th day of Horen’s Calling of 1906 St. Emalynesburg has recently been erected over the field of Velec, the first completed structure to kiss the ambience of the deep forests that commune to form the border of Aaun. Hence, while the populace awaits the final brick to be laid on the cast of the village, the Castle has been opened for all who seek shelter and a like-minded caucus, setting in motion the ducal court of Adria. Though St. Emalyne is modest, the Adrian culture is all but, and so we shall revel in any space that allows drink, debate, and music. All are invited into the space later this year to celebrate, tour, and interview for staffing positions. The exact time and date will be announced shortly. St. Emalyne is the foremost shape on the skyline of Velec just past the Camp Baltas Gates off East fleet, a terracotta castle built into the highest hill of the province split into five buildings by the exterior path and the internal square courtyard. The Castle of Saint Emalyne looking over the city square of Adria The Duke, Heinrik Otto Sarkozic An amiable character with aplomb, he is often seen speaking with the men and women of Adria around the town proper. The Duchess, Austina of Aldersberg A woman of capable descent and proper poise, taking up the strict upkeep of the Castle St. Emalyne. The Lady Suzana Otta Daughter of the Duke & Duchess, born with an illness that shelters her within the Castle, though she is often seen walking atop the outer wall. The Lord Viktor Stefan Son of the Duke & Duchess, a properly behaved young boy often clung to his father's right leg. The Lord Markus Marie The younger Son of the Duke & Duchess, sired the year ensuing his brother's ingress and taking after his mother's complexion. The Lady Kzenia Adriata The youngest of the Duke & Duchess, a bashful but purely focused young lady often contently kept to her studies. The Lord Ratibor Kazimir Sarkozic The Lord Paul Emanuel Sarkozic In the expectation of future dumas and other administrative junctures, Duchess Austina has fashioned the courts into the housekeeping of the Duke. She invites all maids and men to petition her if wishing to work in any of the following positions: Lady Concierge === The Lady Concierge of the Castle St. Emalyne functions as the head of castle staff and wards as well as making informed decisions in place of the Duchess if she is unable to be present. Other functions of this role include scheduling appointments, returning correspondences, and appointing the yearly itinerary. Ladies or Lords in Waiting === Ladies and Lords of the Castle are those who work for the Duchess and are given many menial daily tasks as well as specialized subjects that an individual might concentrate on. Those who take these positions may host events for the whole of Adria, aid in court activities such as feasts or visits from the itinerant court, and educate wards on their specialized subject. Examples of Lady's or Lord’s individual titles are as such; The Court Screamer The Court Screamer announces all happenings of the upper body of Adria within the town hall as well as within the Castle Courtyard. The Bard of Veletzia The Bard of Veletzia tells the stories of the Adrians through song, lightening the atmosphere of any room they walk in, seeking to emulate the beloved songbirds and revered Timeo de la Baltas. The Court Vintner The Vintner produces and sells the wine exports of St. Emalyne, and is most importantly tasked with the supply of Carrion Black. Wards === Those between the ages of seven to seventeen may hone their skills under the watchful eyes of the Duchess and her adept company. It is expected of those who Ward to procure a project they desire to complete during their time and attend lessons presented by the Lords and Ladies of St. Emalyneburg. SIGNED, Her Grace, Austina Prudence Sarkozic Baroness of Aldersberg, Duchess consort of Adria, Countess consort of Veletzia
  21. With a grin across her chubby features, she'd recall the bags of sweets Amadea used to use to bribe her. Maya loved Amadea, moreso then her own sister.
  22. Maya mourned her childhood upon the death of her beloved older brother. Everything seemed dull in the skies, and she longed for the memories forgotten.
