  1. THE CERULEAN BARN Issued at Year 172 of the Second Age With our recently acquired bakers, more and more farmers have ended up calling our Most Serene March of Cerulia their home. Some of these farmers have petitioned for the construction of a barn to provide our people with meat to eat, leather to tan and wool to weave. The barn has been built and so our Most Serene March grows once more. Today is a glorious day. ETERNAL WE MARCH signed, The Former Silver Lubba, Mika “The Resourceful” Anarion, Serene Marq of The Most Serene March of Cerulia and Minister of Defense of Lurin, Protector of the Lurinite Floodplains, Lord of Lubba’s Keep, Lubba Knight of Lurin, Founder of Lurin
  2. A Traveller’s Guide to the Hamlet of Enswerp [!] Depiction of the Hamlet on a sunny day c. 1964 [Credit and huge thanks to @Borinand @Capace for the awesome build!] THE HAMLET OF ENSWERP Established in 1964, the Hamlet of Enswerp is designed to help protect one of the primary routes into eastern Aevos and the majority of the Apostolic Kingdom’s land. Ser Stefano Montelliano was bestowed the honor of being the hamlet’s first bailiff, and with the help of Crown Prince Charles the region was quickly raised up to provide a home for the local peasantry. As a result, Enswerp has become a suitable place for those seeking a rural lifestyle without the oversight of the Peerage & Nobility. As long as you are of a Canonist lifestyle, then you are welcome to the hamlet. There’s very little that is disallowed, and the community is welcoming of those that seek a new life beyond the norm of other realms and settlements. Within the hamlet, there is an increased degree of autonomy that is uncommon in other human villages. This is due to the relationship that any resident may develop between the Bailiff and themselves. AN OPEN INVITATION WITH BENEFITS There are several, potential reasons why someone would wish to settle in Enswerp. This is not a complete list, but simply some highlights for those that might find themselves interested... I. Low Taxes The Hamlet of Enswerp, despite its prime location, is not a place for those who want to spend colossal sums of golden coins on their upkeep - quite the contrary. The taxes levied on the Hamlet are modest, each citizen is required to contribute an amount of TEN MINAE which, in conversion, amounts to ONE FULL ENSWERP MARK a year. At the moment the Office of the Bailiff does not foresee a tax increase. II. Greater Inclusiveness Our settlement is small, focused on slow development built on the basis of cooperation and good neighbourly relations. It doesn't matter who you are - human, elf, dwarf or gnome, you will always be welcome here as long as you follow the rules of the hamlet. Every day since the village was founded we have been meeting new faces who stop for a while during the long journey through the Lowlands before continuing on their way - this is how we build positive relations and improve our reputation. III. Work Enswerp offers several job opportunities - ranging from farmer to militia member, and perhaps one day the Bailiff himself. However, one should not think that this is the only thing that needs to be done. When the time comes to implement the project ordered by the Bailiff, every resident, regardless of their gender, should get to work to jointly build the village's future. CULTURE & SOCIETY Location: Our village is located on the east bank of the River Leone, right in front of the ruins of Andregrad, once the capital of the Duchy of Stran. The architecture is predominantly wooden, as is the bridge, St. Daniel's Crossing, which allows travelers to cross the river. Once on the east bank of the river, travellers are greeted by a small local tavern - Stefano's Greasy Spoon - where they can rest as well as eat and drink for ONE MINAE. Deep in the woods to the left of the tavern stands Fort Alba, which acts as a local garrison where the Bonnie Brigade, the local militia, is stationed. Further towards the ruins of Andregrad lies the hamlet where the entire, however small, population of Enswerp lives. In addition to the vast farmlands, the settlement itself has a humble smithy, an apiary where we produce our local honey and the church of the Blessed Calliope of Merryweather. Prominent Individuals: Charles Reman Alstion - The Lord of Alba - @Olox_ Ser Stefano Montelliano - The first Bailiff of Enswerp - @Sebbysc Jan Nowak - The Captain of the Bonnie Brigade - @Pork Lembic Urbran - Local Gnome Doctor - @siglms_ Signed, Ser Stefano Montelliano, the Bailiff of Enswerp Jan Nowak, the Captain of the Bonnie Brigade HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, Charles Reman Alstion, the Lord of Alba
  3. [i] A new pamphlet arrives at your door. THE WHEAT WHACKER CHRONICLES INTRODUCTION What, ladies and gentlemen, are the tenets for every farmer? Of course, proper irrigation, seeding, and harvesting is key to any farmer’s livelihood. Alas, it seems more and more of us are forgetting these tenets! Across Almaris, much of which I have farmed in, there are unseeded patches and dry spots in every field. Much to my horror, I can assure you. The purpose, dear shepherds and shepherdesses, of this pamphlet is to bring attention to the sorry state of our fields. But what authority have I to comment on your farming procedures? The six thousand potatoes and carrots, and the eight thousand bales of hay, all perfectly stored in my storeroom, are my qualifications, dearest farmer. And, of course, if you’ve a field nearby, I’ve farmed it. From the tiniest farm just outside Corwinsburg to the farm just outside Amathea, I have farmed far and wide. If I haven’t farmed your fields, it’s only a matter of time. I, the Wheat Whacker, will aid you in your endeavors to better your farms. THE FIRST REVIEW We shall begin, my farmers, in the Harvest Confederacy. Surely a nation named after harvesting will have immaculate fields, will they not? I’m afraid that the Confederacy will disappoint us, for while their fields certainly look impressive, they seem to value quantity over quality. At first glance, the golden fields of wheat and rich-looking vegetable patches fool most as they pass by. Poor irrigation and dry patches are apparent even in the very first fields I came across, just outside of Vienne, or whatever it’s name is now. A fluke, I said to myself, and shared a glance with my trusty companion, the Silent Sodbuster, saw us quickly harvesting all we could carry and wandering off to the next stop. The further inward we went, the more problems arose. We had run all the way to Arichsdorf, our bundles of wheat steadily growing, before we were too disheartened to continue. Bare patches riddled fields and poor lighting saw some of the seedlings not taking to even irrigated soil. Truly, a horrific sight. Dry soil was plentiful, and truly, my hopes cannot have been more crushed. While there may be hundreds upon hundreds of wheat fields, and the crop yield is impressive, it is not enough to excuse such heinous oversights. I truly hope this pamphlet, drawing attention to their problems, will prompt the farmers to correct their mistakes. Do send in your farms for review. Even if they aren’t sent in, I’ll get to them eventually! All submissions should be forwarded to this address. [OOC: The Wheat Whacker#1688] The foremost farming authority,
  4. *A note is posted on all the boards of all the main cities in Valior. "I am looking to buy a piece of land for a farm!" Description: A medium sized piece of land preferably along a river with some hills in the background. Enough land for a small farm, a nice not-too-small house, and possibly a small barn or paddock of some sort. I don't mind having to clear some woods for the desired effect so if there are some woods in the area that would be fine. Price: If you have a suitable piece of land I will first take a look at it then we can decide on a price. Conditions: For us to buy this land there are a few things we would like to see. Firstly: I would like it if the land was clean and has no buildings or other man-made structures like that on it, If there is I might still consider buying it, but I will want to pay less for it. Secondly: I would like it to be farmable. Also, if it is green and lush, I will most likely pay more for it. Lastly: I would prefer if it was far away from cities. The further it is from cities or settlements, the more I will pay for it. Please Contact Llewellyn Oakleaf if you have some land you would be willing to sell! -}&{- Llewellyn Oakleaf -*-
