  2. THE PASSING OF AN ELDER CROW The Passing of Duke-Emeritus Jan Arpad Ivanovich Issued by, THE DUCHY OF STRAN On the Deep Cold, 1940 TO THE REALM OF CANONDOM, It is with a heavy heart, the House of Ivanovich announces the passing of Ser Jan Arpad Ivanovich. The founder and the former Duke of Stran has passed away peacefully in his sleep after his years-long dedication to the furthering of the Raevir cause and the founding of a home for the Raevir people. Jan spent his life, starting at the age of 6 honing his skills and knowledge of the Raevir culture and ways of living. He strived to live to the ideals of Saint Theodosius, Saint Arpad, and of the first Strannik. Throughout his whole life, his dream was to gather his fellow Raevir brethren and start a home to see his culture survive and thrive. The great Ivanovich has finally accomplished that as Stran flourishes from the foundations he had set for its beginnings. The Ivanovich family shall host a funeral for the former titan of the Raev as they enter a Saint’s Week of mourning for their former head of house. Ser Istvan Ivanovich, current Duke of Stran is now the de jure patriarch of the Ivanovich Dynasty. We ask our friends and allies to pray for Ser Jan Ivanovich’s soul so that he may rest well in the seven skies. GODANI JEST WIELKI. SIGNED, His Grace, Ser Istvan Ivanovich, Duke of Stran, Voidvode of Vaška, Count of Pravets, Baron of Vsensk, and Godansk, Lord of Andregrad, Hetman of the Host of St. Arpad, Keeper of the Hussariya, Protector of Raev and the Vaškan Steppe Her Grace, Izabela Anna Ivanovich, Duchess of Stran, Voidvode of Vaška, Countess of Pravets, Baroness of Vsensk, and Godansk, Lady of Andregrad, Hetman of the Host of St. Arpad, Keeper of the Hussariya, Protector of Raev and the Vaškan Steppe
  3. Small, tightly wound letters fill the missive - seen upon black as midnight paper. “Exalted Horen and Saint Julia, behold us prostrate at your feet, learning by your most noble example. Through God our Lord, grant us peace and harmony, and, through the abundant graces God hath given to you, bless us in times of need and plenty alike.” My Dearest Brother, the Duke of Stran, Ser Istvan Ivanovich and my Honorable intended, the Baron af Brasca, George af Brasca, I am writing to you with a heavy heart, as I find myself torn between the brother I grew up with and the man I have come to care for. As you are aware, the Baron George af Brasca has sought my hand in marriage, and his proposal has left me with a difficult decision to make. I care deeply for each of you, and I find it unbearable to think that a dispute over my affections might lead to a result no one wishes to see. I implore the both of you, with all the love and sincerity that resides in my heart, to approach this situation with humility and a commitment to humanity. The prospect of a duel, a clash of swords, is a time honored tradition - one I would dare not stop. This letter is simply to request one thing of the both of you, so I may look forward to the duel instead of lamenting it with bated breath. I ask you, my dear brother, to consider the profound bond of family that we share. Our relationship is a treasure beyond measure, and I cannot bear to see it strained or severed over a matter of the heart. Baron George, your intentions have touched my soul, and I have come to appreciate the depth of your character. Please, look to our growing bond and consider my plea. I beseech you both, whether win or lose, to offer not harm to the other. The terms set were that of the winner having the ability to request what they wish, and as I know you are both honorable individuals, I know you will accept my plea. As the winner, offer no cruelty but instead dignity and respect, considering the feelings of all involved. I am confident that the love and compassion you have shown me can extend outward and to either side. My heart aches at the thought of causing strife between the men I care for so deeply. I trust in your wisdom and goodness, and I pray that you will heed my plea for a humane and harmonious resolution to this upcoming duel. “God, who alone art perfect Charity, if I should speak, think or do things in unkindness today, rebuke me, but, before that, strengthen my own meekness and mildness, that I might be the font of Thee.” With all my love and gratitude for your understanding, Her Ladyship, Viktoria Helena Ivanovich, ward to the Princess Adeline of Aaun @Pork@WaveLincoln

  5. Display of the House Korvacz Crest “Together, We Prosper.” Tables of Contents I. House Symbolism II. Family III. Occupations IV. History V. Religion and Culture VI. Values, Morals, and Traditions Colors Despite their crest bearing a shade of purple, the house’s members predominantly wear black, red, and gold. References They are often associated with or depicted with wolves, bears, and eagles—their crest depicted a double-headed eagle to represent their Raevo-Renatian roots. Titles As of recent, House Korvacz has been granted the titles to the Barony of Kotovy. Lineage ⊱ Her Ladyship Xénia Korvacz ⊱ Lord Ser Miklós Korvacz ⊱ Lady Roziska Korvacz ⊱ Lord Radu Korvacz ⊱ Lady Marija Korvacz ⊱ Lord Lorand Korvacz ⊱ Lord Arisztid Korvacz ⊱ Lady Ramóna Korvacz Appearance As of the current day, it is common among those bearing the Korvacz name to be fair in flesh with dark hair ranging from shades of brown to black, though there is the occasional show of ginger within their genetic pool. Their eyes consist of hues of blue or brown, rarely ever stretching to shades of green. Bastards It comes as a blessing that to this point there has yet to be a Korvacz bastard, though in the scenario one comes crawling up from the soil, they shall not be taken underwing and instead are branded with the surname “Kova.” From there it is recognized that if the bastard is to sully the true Korvacz name, they are to be hunted and dealt with accordingly. Occupations Occupationally, the Korvacz family is known to be skilled hunters, trackers, and knights. Occasionally, one strays from some jobs, though this is not frowned upon and some Korvacz have even been seen as medics or architects. History House Korvacz is currently one of the oldest houses within the Duchy of Stran, with the family having distinct roots beyond the initial founding of the Duchy itself. The progenitor Caine Korvacz was predominantly remembered for his time on Anthos to Athera. After his death, the family existed with his wealth, though eventually fell back into survival and migration when they lost most of their wealth traveling to Vailor. Because of these times, they developed skills needed to continue their existence which slowly became hobbies and traditions, and around the ages of Almaris, they tamed themselves out and slowly began to settle. The Korvacz’s time on Failor would prove significant to their rise in status, numbers, and reputation. However, since their journey to Aevos, they have integrated into Raevir society and have stayed staunchly tied to the Ivanovich family of which they were granted their titles. Religion The Korvacz family has been and continues to be firm believers in Canonist ideals and refuses to stray from GOD. It is unknown when they adopted this form of religion, but most assume it has been the same since the time of the progenitor himself. Culture Since their time on Almaris, the Korvacz have grown accustomed to Raevir culture, adopting their language, traditions, and lifestyle. Values Those of the Korvacz name typically value family and loyalty above all else. They find their strength in numbers, correlating with their motto of “Together, We Prosper.” Morals Korvacz believes in doing the right thing, often tending to lend a hand through whatever means possible. Of course, they keep in mind their religion and values, and do not stray from bloodshed if it means things will return to the way they were before, to what was proper. Traditions Because of the length of their existence, Korvacz has formed traditions to follow through with their past times, some less prioritized than others. ⊱ When it comes to the selection of an heir, they are selected based on merit rather than gender or order of birth. ⊱ In order to ask for the hand in marriage of a Korvacz woman, one must first duel their father—brother if the father is deceased, and if there is no brother, the head of house—to be judged in their worthiness. ⊱ For most weddings, it is customary for a Korvacz woman to wear simple white attire with a fur pelt of either an animal she or her significant other has slain. Signed, Her Ladyship, Xénia Korvacz, Baroness of Kotovy

  10. THE HOST OF ST. ARPAD OF VILACZ, THE BANNERMEN OF IVANOVICH Issued and confirmed by, THE DUKE OF STRAN 11th of Sigismund's End, 1932 INTRODUCTION Nearly thirty years ago to the day the Host of St. Arpad was established in a small chapel in the former lands of Cherskavy. From there we set out to establish ourselves and seek a better life than what we had before. We traveled and settled in numerous places, a mere reprieve before the work was to begin. As time progressed, our numbers grew as more and more true-raevir settled, now we reach a point in time of peace and prosperity. Yet, it is not our way to just keel over, we must always remain ready for battle and reject the ways of the heartland-folk. It is with that, the Host of St. Arpad of Vilacz remains the standing militant force of House Ivanovich and defenders of the wayward Raevir in the Duchy of Stran. An artistic rendition of a Kazak leading the Host of St. Arpad, c. 1932. MISSION The Host of St. Arpad of Vilacz is to act as the personal bannermen and guard force for House Ivanovich, the Duchy of Stran, and any other of Ivanovich holdings. Founded on the principles of Ruskan Orthodoxy and the militant scriptures of St. Arpad, the streltsy serving within its ranks have been honed into a professional fighting force compared to a local militia or levy. They are tasked with protecting any and all wayward raev-folk who have lost their way and to act in the Duke’s best interest and at his discretion. Depiction of three bannermen of House Ivanovich in full uniform. RANKS Hetman - Гетман The Hetman or Duke of Stran is the commander of the Host of St. Arpad, it is he who houses them, feeds them, and so forth. In return those amongst the host owe oaths of loyalty to the Hetman. The Hetman can only be the Duke of Stran, unless a different successor is chosen by his will. Ataman - Атаман The Ataman or Captain of the Host is the highest rank one may reach. They sit upon The Rada Vaškova and are responsible for all the Host’s wellbeing in terms of shelter, pay, supplies, and so forth. The Ataman may also oversee and organize and train the Host at Duke’s discretion. Knight of Blessed Istvan - Рыцарь з блогослав Иштван The Knights of Blessed Istvan are those who have first been elevated through squireship or extraordinary service to the Druzhina; the personal retinue of the Hetman. But through even further service they’ve proved themselves more than capable. Because the Hetman and Ataman cannot be everywhere at once, these men are entrusted to act in their names, acting as officers of the Host. Desyatnik - Десятник Exceptional cossacks are raised to desyatnik, roughly sergeant or corporal in the common tongue. They have through the ataman been granted certain authority over their subordinates to lead in combat, host patrols, trainings and other minor events. Cossack - Казак The Cossacks are the grizzled veterans of the Host as far as peasants go, and are the only form of organized or otherwise professional soldiers of the Host. In order for one to become a cossack, you must first be a Straznik. Only after years of service, piety, honor, or recognition by the Duke or Ataman can a Straznik become a Cossack. They act as the vanguard of the Host. A Cossack can be identified due to being branded with the Mark of St. Arpad upon being promoted from Straznik. Straznik - Стразник Straznik are streltsy that have sworn oaths in service to the Duke of Stran. The Straznik make up the backbone of the Host due to the majority of citizens of our former lands enlisting so that they could purchase property and gain further opportunities in society through service in the Host. Nowadays the Straznik retain their position as the core of the Host being the entry rank for those who enlist. THE KNIGHTS OF STRAN The bulwark of the Duke and House Ivanovich, the sacred order of veteran cossacks who took vows of unwavering loyalty and dedication to their lord. They are often also known as the Arpadovic, with time it has become a tradition amongst their ranks who come of common birth upon being knighted and to take on the surname of Arpadovic, to become a Son of St. Arpad. ENLISTMENT To join St. Arpad’s Host, those interested must find or send a bird to the Duke of Stran or the Ataman of the Host, only then can one make their case to join the host and begin on their journey to restoring what was once lost to time. The Host itself can be found dwelling in Krepost Yakov in the city of Andregrad, Stran. 14. TWICE CURSED A POV post by the young Lady Viktoria of Stran. Viktoria wondered if she was twice cursed. She never thought much of the first, her family's curse, even as it did tend to affect her day to day life but now.. Now, she stood by her youngest sister as her heart ached and her stomach churned. She explained what wardship was, but did not explain its reasoning. War. The child had wished she could say the war never affected her, but she knew of it as long as she could remember. One of her first memories was herself at the mere age of three, toddling along behind her eldest brother within the refugee camps of Aaun as they chased after a Goat. She beamed and laughed, not knowing any better as threats were made upon her family's livelihood. And so it continued. One moment after another. Her mothers title stripped away, and thus her heirship in turn. She had become simply the Lady Viktoria then, and it took her time to find her bearings. And then the end of the world, or that of the land of the Almaris as she knew it came and a whole new war began. It was different, it took away what she knew as a ‘home’, if you can call a refugee camp home and simply sent her into another refugee camp, one in Savoy. Time passed, and she found herself in a new land and this time, in a true to GODANI home. Vaska. --- Things were looking up, or so it had seemed. She went from place to place, all kept succinctly within the Kingdom of Aaun. Vaska, Minitz, Whitespire. Repeat. But it became her new life and one she came to enjoy. She did not live in a tent but instead had a room. One she could call her own, with paintings decorating the walls, and embroidered pillows of her own making strewn everywhere. A day came, though, in which she visited Whitespire with her eldest brother. Viktoria prattled on, as she often did, about the interview she did for the mayoral candidate just earlier that day. She was excited to be a field reporter for the Aaunic Herald! Istvan listened, and poked fun as siblings often did, as the duo paused by the candidates booth. That excitement soon faded. First a man, then multiple came to them, claiming she had committed a crime! Viktoria had no idea what crime she could have committed, and the men did not wear the armor of any of the places of Aaun. In fact, she did not recognize their armor from anywhere. She tugged on her brother's hand, some anxiety there, as the small girl of thirteen wished to get away. Her heart pounded, frantic and not sure what to expect. They grabbed at her, yanking her from her brother who soon pulled her back and a fight broke loose. It was all such a blur and it all happened so fast. A sharp pain came, having taken something sharp, she couldn’t even be sure what sort of weapon it was; straight to her gut. Viktoria collapsed upon the floor, and she cried for her brother, bony hands pressed over the injury at her waist. The pain was debilitating, and the last thing she could remember was one of her fathers men stepping in front of her prone form, standing before her. The next she’d awoken, everything had hurt and blurry faces were seen before her. Her brother, and her family were not among them. She was in the Minitz clinic. Her brother in the Whitespire clinic. The siblings were separated, unsure if the other were alright. --- It took some time to heal fully. Her movements were careful, and she was not allowed to step foot outside of her home during then. Vaska had become Stran sometime before her injury. A great pride that made her beam, further so when the King so graciously accepted her petitioned gift, as she’d improved in her embroidery. And finally, some time later, she was healed. She didn’t go anywhere without her guard anymore, even if she were with one of her family members and things seemed to be getting back to something better. The bandits, though, they kept coming back. Always causing trouble, and always seemingly running the moment things had gone bad, attempting to entrap those back in their homeland; Adria. And so the day of the royal wedding came, and the Lady Viktoria made way for the basilica with her guard - and soon afterwards the palace. She took note of her dear friend, Leutwin who seemed to be nowhere to be seen after that of the wedding and she went in search of him about the palace as the feast took place. There was no sign of him, the young girl of now fourteen unaware of her friend being tortured by those who sought to take her previously. And so she explored, and she spoke to others, until she came to a standstill within the palace gardens. Her father and the Princess Adeline spoke and a deal was made. She is to be warded. She would move to the palace. She would see her family less and less. Why? War. Viktoria wondered if she was twice cursed.
