The Adventures And Short Stories Of The Ugluk Clan

The Birth of Ugluk

Long ago during the early days of creation Gorkil had his third cub, this cub’s name was Ugluk. Not long after Ugluk began his early testings and trials with the other cubs Ugluk showed excellence in many forms of combat. One problem Ugluk did have however, was that he was weak in mind. With a very low intellect he would constantly find himself in unfortunate situations where he would need assistance from elders. For this he was looked down upon by the elders of the clan. One day, when a small gang of desperate thieves attempted to attack the small encampment that he was staying. Without much thinking he charged at a group of the bandits soon he found himself surrounded by heavily armed thieves who were all about to kill him. As Ugluk, still only 8 attempted to fend off these human bandits his defence was breaking down. Eventually all was lost and Ugluk stared death in the face. However, a female he had trained with, Kiol, fired a few well placed arrows hitting the thief that was about to end him. With that Ugluk did not hesitate to finish the thief and quickly retreat and assist the other clan members in the battle. Ugluk would continue his training for many years becoming one of the strongest cubs in the group. He was force to be reckoned with if met in a fist on fist battle in the arena or in the small war games he played with the other cubs where he would use his favored weapon, the axe. Not only did Ugluk master the axe in a few short years but he was also unnaturally gifted in the use of a blade. By the time he was 13 Ugluk was capable of wielding the heaviest of swords and axes.

Kiol, the Mother of Ugluk Clan

Deep inside a small camp of many different Orcs Ugluk slept. Soon Ugluk woke to the shouts of war cries and shrieks of pain as dark fireballs were flung across the camp. Ugluk sprinted out of his small ripped up tent with his axe in his hand. He looked up to see his friend, Kiol, the one who saved him many years earlier during the raid by the thieves. Her short, jet black hair was dotted in spurts of blood and her clothing tattered and ripped by the fireballs and lightning the mysterious shamans were spraying about the camp. She hoped off a mound of stone and tossed Ugluk a torn leather helmet. “Me got dat uff wun uf dem skahur’z.” she said to Ugluk, as she grinned widely. Ugluk handed it back to her and twirled his axe raising it above his head striking an Orc that was attempting to sneak up behind Kiol. Ugluk nodded to Kiol and sprinted off into the midst of the battle. Kiol did the same, following Ugluk as she fired her great Orcish Long Bow into the temple of a shaman. Soon the pair reached the spot where the shamans were casting the spells, however they were met with heavy resistance. Soon Ugluk and Kiol were swarmed with the invading Orcs. Surrounded he tossed Kiol one of his better swords and raised his axe. It was a long and hard battle but as the dust and sand cleared, Ugluk and Kiol stood atop the bodies of the invaders. During that time in which Ugluk and Kiol were fighting the invaders the dark shamans escaped, Ugluk would not know the identities of the shaman but they looked vaguely familar. Not long after the battle Ugluk and Kiol retreated into Ugluk’s tent and began to mate.

The First Son of Ugluk

The first son of Ugluk and Kiol was VaagDizh. It was in the late of night that he was born. It was noted on record to be one of the worst sand storms in the harsh desert to date. The wind howled and groaned with the ferocity of Krug himself. Not even the Elders of the clan could remember such a time since the days of when the Four Brothers, Horen, Krug, Malin, and Urguan walked the plains of existence. When VaagDizh was born he didn't cry, he growled and snarled at the air. Soon the entire camp was chanting the War Cry.

Three years later VaagDizh clutched his tiny axe in his hands. He snarled at the other Orc cub that stood in front of him. He waited for the Elder to say "klomp" and he would charge the Orc directly. He knew that there was no way this cub could over power him and then the Elder shouted the words he had been waiting for. He charged at the cub and easily over took him and swung his axe right at the cubs head smashing him in the side of the skull. The Orc fell over shrieking for a brief moment. The Orc jumped up and swung his blade at VaagDizh's knee knocking him down. VaagDizh jumped up and roared at the cub, he then charged at the cub letting out three ferocious blows upon his neck. With that he nearly killed the other cub and one the battle. It was his fifth straight win. VaagDizh was undefeated against the other cubs and could not be beaten. He was much taller and more muscular in build than the other cubs. Soon he would be able to go hunt with his father and prove himself to the other Orcs.

Twelve years latter VaagDizh found himself on the back of a Jabbernack riding into battle with a large assembly of rouge thieves attempting to capture the camp. He was told by his father to go out with his younger brother, Grahnuk defeat the thieves and drive them away from the camp. The Thieves waited not far off to the west of their camp. VaagDizh rode with his brother tearing apart and ripping enemies open with his axe while Grahnuk jabbed at them with his sword. The thieves and the Ugluk Brothers had been fighting for a long time when there was a mighty roar and Ugluk himself rose stood on the battle field. Many bandits charged at Ugluk and his sons immediately rode to his aid. After three hours of fighting Ugluk and his sons drove the thieves out and returned to the camp.

Later in life after the clan wars VaagDizh would settle down and have his first son Sarfu with his favored mate who he met in the battle, Kuulo. VaagDizh would fall during the fight for the old Ugluk camp with the children of Dash. VaagDizh also had a daughter who is still alive to this day, Buil'Ugluk.

Pok, The Bastard

Fugrah took a deep sigh as she cradled the new born. Shunrak stood over his new cub and examined it, he squeezed his tiny muscles and felt the cubs forehead. This young Orc came out a kind of cactus green color and began to snarl as he rose from the womb. He nearly bit off the clan grandmother's finger as she handed the cub to Fugrah. " 'e gunna be ztrong little ash!"chuckled Shunrak as the cub continued to snarl.

"Y...yub.."she said in exhaustion, she had been in labor for nearly three days with an immeasurable pain throughout the labor. She sighed and dosed off to sleep as the clan grandmother took the cub away. Before she left she asked Shunrak what the cub would be named.

Shunrak thought for a moment and said..."Soluk." Early the next morning, while Soluk was asleep in the tiny, underground nursery

below the camp a small but heavily armed group of Phol attacked the Ugluk camp. The Phol came out of nowhere when they hit the Ugluk and caught most of them off guard. Since the door to the nursery was covered by some dirt and the hatch leaves, the Phol moved without notice. Soluk's older sister, Kizaplu was also in the nursery with him, watching Soluk. She almost let out a scream but stopped herself keeping her, and her brother, undetected by the invaders. Within hours after they left Kizaplu rose from the hatch peering around the tiny camp. There were no bodies to be found and the tents were burned to the ground. Kizaplu crept slowly through the camp, making sure there we no Phol left. She was totally dumbfounded as to where all the bodies went, were her parents alive? She moved down into the nursery again and picked up Soluk. She gathered what she could and walked off into the early morning fog. One evening she set Soluk down somewhere not far off a road. She turned for just a moment to make the nights meal but Soluk quickly waddled off toward the road. There Soluk rest himself on a column near the road where another Orc would find him, Mor'Gunt. Mor'Gunt picked up the tiny cub and questioned as to how it got there. He looked around to see if there were any other Orcs around but Kizaplu was just out of view. Mor'Gunt picked the cub up and brought it back to his home in the village of Talun. Mor'Gunt named the cub Pok and he would go by this name for the rest of his life. The whereabouts of Kizaplu are unknown and Pok hasn't even learned of her existance. Pok only recently discovered the fact that his father, Mor'Gunt, wasn't actually his son from a journal Mor'Gunt had written long ago when Pok was a cub. Kizaplu still searches for Soluk in hopes they may one day be reunited as one.

Excerpt From The Journal Of Mor'Gunt

Pok'Ugluk recently found a molded and run down book inside the ruins of his father's Talun home. This is what it said and it changed Pok forever. Mor'Gunt was a rather whitewash Orc who didn't interact much with the other Orcs. This is why his writings are written in the average human tongue.

Sabet, 7th of The First Seed, 1317

Last night on my way home to the estate I stumbled upon a rather large child. I picked the child up and examined it in the moonlight. It was a very muscular cub if I had ever seen one so I looked around a bit to see if any parents around but there weren't. Although I can almost swear I heard the calls of a younger female Orc just over the hill. I shrugged it off and continued my long journey home to my estate. When I got home I set down the cub in my spare room and examined him. He seemed very unique to me. It snarled and growled at me. I chuckled and playfully snarled back. This went on for a bit before finally I walked off toward my bedroom. As I pulled up the covers, the icy northern wind slamming against my window, I thought of something, what would I name the cub. I stood over it, the wind still howling, I finally muttered "Pok." With that I made way for my bedroom. This morning I woke up to Pok sitting next to my bed punching at the wood. I had to smack him to get him to stop. I think I'll be taking him into Al'Khazar this afternoon.

There are many pages left that Pok has yet to read. He hopes to learn more about his past by reading through the short stories. He seeks to learn more of what once was and discover his true identity.

Being Adopted Into The Clan

Being adopted is no easy task for an outsider. They must prove their strength and wits in many ways before one may be adopted and accepted as a true adopted son of the Clan. The first test is the Test of Strength. The current Clan Father will pick one of his greatest fighters and pit him against the Orc who wishes to be adopted. If the Orc survives and defeats the Clan Father's fighter then the Orc has beaten the first test. The second test is the Test of Wits. The Orc will be thrown into a dark and intimidating maze. Using his wits as well having some luck, the Orc must make it through the course in one piece. The third test is the Test of Fear. The current clan Elder Shaman will summon your greatest fear right before your eyes. You must defeat your fear in whatever way possible, this fear will constantly swipe and swing at you as you attempt to defeat it somehow. You must pass at least two out of the three and the one you lose cannot be the Trial of Fear. If you lose the Trial of Fear, you will automatically be cast away and all chance of you being adopted is lost.

(this would need to be changed ''Ugluk chuckled and let out the great War Cry of the Ugluk Clan'' As Ugluk wouldnt be the one that formed the Ugluk clan it would be one of his great grand children.)

(also the clan tree needs to be bigger, as Ugluk would not be part of the clan wars at all it happend later on, dont forget the clans wars was only 110 years ago. and the world is 1300 years old. If you look at the Gorkil tree there is at least 5 forefathers befor Han and Han was the one that was there in the clan war's and his father was the one that formed gorkil clan)

(exepct that good job :) )
