For as long as mankind has existed, so have balls announcing a young lady's debut into the majority, and by extension, high society. As Isabeau-Karine of the House of Rosius rapidly approaches her 18th year, the House of Rosius does deem it fit to host a ball in her honor.  The theme of the ball shall be flowers, calling back to the first ball hosted at the Rosius manor. The Lady Rosius requests that everyone except immediate members of the Rosius dynasty refrain from wearing red or rose-inspired outfits, unless they desire to be removed from the premises.

Step, step, step; it was a crescendo of music and movement across the ballet studio floor. At the upper levels of the Hand of Horen, two rambunctious youths sought to pour their energy into the art that was ballet, at least their tutors thought it would put that energy to good use so they would not wreak havoc with games of Conquest on the stairwell again.  It was a blur of twirls and giggles with Maude Elizabeth and Cecily Amelia whirling about the floor much to the dismay of the nun overlooking their lessons. She placed two fingers on her temples when the girls opted to link hands and spin in circles. The nun smacked a wooden ruler on the barre to redirect their attention to the lesson at hand. 

The room was softly lit as torches and candlelight flickered on the walls as if to mock the dancers within the hall. Ornate tapestries depicting Princesses and Ladies of yore participating in the very same pastimes as they were. The children released each other from their spinning and raised their arms over their heads. They dug their toes into the ground to place their weight upon them, standing above their usual height in their ballet flats. A small shuffle from each and they found their balance. The violinists began their song once again and they danced, as skilled as someone so young could be. It took a surprising amount of discipline for the two to hold their composure. 

“Cecily.” Maude loudly whispered with their dancing, taking note of the tapestries. “I think they’re just us, but different. It’s why we are going to be friends forever.”  Cecily did not respond, only a smile as if to understand what she had said to not incur the wrath of the nun by talking any longer.

Therefore the two danced, as if it were a passion fueled by friendships that spanned through other lifetimes. Two souls reborn and connected to transcend the perils of humanity. Her Royal Highness, Princess Cecily Amelia of Alstion and Lady Maude Elizabeth of Montalt; a pair that will surely be a guiding light during the plight that faces the Heartlands as they have been time and time again...

In the ever-evolving landscape of Heartlander politics, the recent retirement of Lord Chancellor Frantzisko has ushered in a new era, with the popular and young Louis-Caspian de Rosius stepping into the formidable role. However, his selection of Friedrich von Augusten as his new Vice–Chancellor, has raised more than a few well-groomed eyebrows.

Friedrich von Augusten, leader of the Petra vassal of Hohengarten, finds himself loud in his own personal convictions, and thus makes sure that others will listen with a wanting or unwilling ear. This rather forward way of presentation has made Friedrich find himself at odds with Queen Adalia I following his controversial alignment with Aaun a few years ago; this alliance was an attempt to force her hand into war against the Coastal Coalition, a scheme hatched by King Charles II, alongside the enigmatic Mister Tiber and the ever-plotting Lord Chamberlain John Valentinus. Their less-than-clandestine conversations, a staple at that year’s Heartlandic social gatherings, including one in celebration of Friedrich’s own son, were heard by many, sparking rumors and whispers that have yet to fade after all this time. While Queen Adalia was quick to handle the turmoil with a public missive, turbulence remains to be navigated within the Heartlander Council.

Yet, this is not the only cause for concern. Lord Chancellor Louis-Caspian de Rosius has also called for the nomination of Konstantin Leon von Augusten, known mostly for his time in the Legion of Saint Godwin as a soldier, as the Grand Speaker of the Garmont Assembly, following the retirement of Lord Atticus Reinhold. This move side steps Mister Theodore Elwood, a seasoned deputy with a decade of experience and service under Lord Reinhold’s capable guidance, and raises questions about nepotism versus meritocracy within the government's highest ranks. The reasons behind this nomination are as transparent as they are troubling: Lord Chancellor de Rosius appears to be stacking the deck in favor of his soon-to-be family.

The engagement of Louis-Caspian to Lady Elsie von Augusten reeks of a calculated move to consolidate power within the Heartlands; by securing influential positions for the aforementioned von Augusten gentlemen, de Rosius is ensuring their loyalty and cementing his own standing. Is he doing this to impress his future in-laws, demonstrating that he can provide for his lady-wife's family? Or is this a ploy to ingratiate himself with the Aaunic overlords, securing votes and support to further their agenda within our government?

The irony is palpable: the von Augustens, ousted by the very Aaunites they now ally with, are being positioned as pawns in a political game that aims to spite Petra. It is a short-sighted strategy, one that may ultimately backfire and damage the integrity of the Heartlands.

It seems a curious case of cutting off one's nose to spite one's face, if you ask this humble author.

In the wake of Chancellor Frantzisko's retirement and the ascension of Lord Louis-Caspian de Rosius, the Heartlands stand at a crossroads; the decisions made in these pivotal moments will shape our future profoundly. While we hope for smooth leadership under Lord Chancellor de Rosius, the concerns surrounding his nepotistic appointments cannot be ignored any longer. It is imperative that our Heartlandic monarchs act swiftly and decisively to ensure that the integrity of our governance – ultimately, their governance – remains intact. Let us look to them, fellow Heartlanders, to uphold the principles of fairness and meritocracy that are essential to the prosperity and harmony of our beloved realm.

May the quills of justice write swiftly, and may the ink of integrity never run dry.

Warriors from across Aevos are invited to test their mettle in a clash of blades, with a dueling tournament to be held in the square of Vallagne. The winner of the tourney will receive a grand prize of 500 mina, as well as the title of Champion of Val de Lagne.

Afterwards, a grand banquet and dance shall be hosted within the palace, where all are welcome to feast and make merry. We will celebrate the strength of our bonds, our allies, and our bright future.

He was delivered in the presence of the Queen-consort’s closest ladies, where the room was basked in the sunlight of dawn. Only upon further inspection a few days later did the King find that the princeling’s hair was a stark orange in colour; much akin to Queen-dowager Edith of Reinmar.

The morning glory brought forth the blessing of Prince Marcus Antonius, who in GOD’s guidance will usher in much joy and prosperity unto his name.

What once were two nations divided by a river on the continents of Almaris and Aevos, became unified under the reigns of Queen Catherine of the Petra and King John of Aaun. After years of integrating the provinces of Petra and Aaun have we, the denizens of our shared realm, contributed to our fair portion of traveling great distances to support one another. Despite harmony that the Heartlander Confederation provides, a most notable difference has come from stemming traditions that have spun for nearly a century. It is no easy feat to spin straw into gold and merge traditions and ideas for a collective mindset that will weave tapestries for our descendants to see.

Proclaiming it so on the eve of the tenth anniversary of its creation, the HEARTLANDIC UNITY FESTIVAL will be hosted in the forthcoming year of 1983. An opportunity to bridge the gap of knowledge on Aaunic or Petran customs, courtiers are invited to participate in activities hosted by vassals and individuals alike that will not only engage, but educate. The sharing of wine, playing of games, dancing of music. By the end of the festivities it is highly encouraged that one writes a note on what they learnt about the other province that they do not hail from.

THE CHILDREN

There was silence looming over the Royal Nursery. With its proximity to the shores of the Silver Sea, the three babes housed in separate cradles were lullabied by the faint murmurs of the thrashing currents below. Moonlight permeated the room, and caressed the countenance of the three eldest royal children: Godwin Leopold, and the twin princesses, Cecily Amelia and Helen Theodosia. From the great heights of the pinnacle of House Alstion’s seat, the Hand of Horen, the moon and sun were not altogether so distant. Every time the curious princelings reached out their little palms, they babbled in wonder as they covered the great stars above with their fingers. Little did they know that they could if they played the cards of their fortunes right. 

Against the bay window of the chamber loomed a middle-aged wet nurse, rocking back and forth upon a ligneous chair. Her hands deftly embroidered the draconic sigil of the Johannian Dynasty upon the second of three kerchiefs for the children. Each flick of her wrist sired another fragment of the emblem being finished, and over the hours, the routine settled into a humdrum. The machinations of the act, coupled with the nocturne hour, made the nurse’s sewing ever languid.

“God be good,” the Nurse yelped, having pricked her finger on the needle after yet another brusque movement. Her ichor tainted the purple drake that denoted the crest of the secondborn, Cecily, and stared in mild horror as the needle had punctured through its eye. It was a strange coincidence. The infant royal bore a clouded eye, not unlike that of her grandmother, the Dowager Queen and her eldest aunt, Josephine. Courtiers had whispered about the condition for decades, known furtively as the Curse of Middelan, that only seemed to impact the eldest female descendants of each of Queen Amelya’s sons. 

The Wet nurse completed the third handkerchief with more alertness, the rawness of her fingers urging her to do so. One by one, the embroidered fabrics were laid in the cradles of the children. Godwin’s was gilded, and bore at its rightmost corner the illustrious seal of Alba. The twin princesses’ were lined with frills and courtly perfection. 

As she retreated, the children stirred, but no angst befell them amidst their isolation and solitude. Their satin shrouds kept them warm against the breeze. What else could they wish for? 

Once more has the King and Queen-consort of Aaun been elated with the growth of their family after the forthcomings of the Lord of Alba. The 6th of Godfrey’s Triumph in the year of Our Lord 1982 saw the witnessing of a girl, born in the quietude of the night. The Princess of Aaun has been named CECILY AMELIA ALSTION (@Axelu). After a further look, the Royal Physician concluded that she bore a clouded right eye.

To the surprise of all present in the royal chambers, another baby was delivered exactly seventeen minutes upon the first’s arrival; another girl. CHARLOTTE AURELIA ALSTION (@esotericas) is the name that Their Apostolic Majesties gave her, with striking resemblance to King Charles II and a peaceful temperment.

Despite the successful nature of the birth for both mother and twin princesses, Queen-consort Hedwig of Warsovia has chosen to remain out of the public eye for the next few months. We pray to GOD for the swiftness in her recovery, and the good health and blessed future of the babies as beacons of Aaun.

I, Helene-Olympe of the Petra, come with advice and insight for individuals who intend to appear at my coming-of-age get-together later this year. For those of us that wish to keep our conversations ever more private at large social gatherings, I come to you with a quick and simple guide to the Flyeur Tongua (Floral Language). 

The first thing one must realize is that not only are the flowers themselves a message, but also the manner in which the flowers are displayed and presented to the possible suitor, friend, or foe. 

- If you present the flowers with your right hand, it is an affirmative ‘yes’ to whatever question might be looming between the pair, but a left-handed handoff is a definite ‘no’. 

- If flowers are presented upside down, they are to be believed to mean the very opposite of the flower’s original message. 

Ribbons are also important in meaning!:

- A ribbon with a bow tied onto the left means that the message portrayed is symbolic of the giver. 

- A ribbon with a bow tied onto the right means that the sentiment portrayed is symbolic of the receiver. 

And as if it weren’t obvious, a wilted flower or bouquet is a rather brash statement! It is to symbolize hatred towards the receiver.

‘Lo unto the Heartlanders!

As the 18th Name Day approaches of one Miss Helene-Olympe Noelle of Petra, she has seen fit to invite all of the Heartlands and beyond to join in on her chosen floral-themed festivities. It shall be a night of merriment, dancing, and folly at Courteis Hale amidst the lovely foliage Her Majesty, Renilde Helena of the Petra, has spent many years of her late life cultivating.

The ball shall be themed “Life in Bloom,” and everyone in attendance is implored to wear flower-inspired garments and colors. Please keep from wearing green, as it has already been claimed by your lovely host, Miss Helene-Olympe herself! 
 

Upon arrival, the guests are encouraged to peruse the former Queen’s garden in search of a perfect flower for the occasion, and pick it either for one’s self or another guest in attendance. In front of a private audience they will address those present with a formal introduction, before talking about their forthcoming debuts and hopes for the future. The goal of which this gathering aims for, is the assistance of the young lords and ladies’ in their future pursuits. It is considered a great privilege to be recognised for one’s efforts in society, so those invited must prepare their best outfits.

             Welcome to this special edition of The Gilded Quill, where I, Bel Aurum, have adopted the color violet to grace this parchment, symbolizing a proud participation in the grand theme of Lady Lucia's Ball of Duality from behind my very own quill. Violet, a hue of pride and royalty, perfectly captures the essence of uncovering the secret moments that our esteemed Heartlanders so often think no one is paying attention to. So, with this violet ink flowing as freely as the lips at the ball, let us delve into the enchanting and tantalizing events of Lady Lucia’s unforgettable debut.

Our first spectacle of the night was none other than Prince Paul, or should I say, the former Prince Paul. With all the audacity of a fox in a henhouse, Paul arrived bedecked in his old circlet and regalia, despite his disownment decree expressly forbidding such displays. Clearly, he must have mistaken the late Queen Catherine I’s decree for a jest. The ball was buzzing with anticipation as Queen Adalia, flanked by Heartlandic knights and legionnaires, confronted her disgraced uncle with the cutting remark, “I knew this ball had a theme, but I wasn’t aware it was a costume ball.” Alas, the 'Prince No Longer' fled the scene, slippery as a trout from the River Petra, evading a masterful fisherman. The Moere bastard left behind a trail of bemused onlookers, and not a soul inclined to pursue his pompous self.

Meanwhile, Queen Hedwig of Aaun seems to have taken up the role of matchmaker, pairing the young men and women of the Heartlands for dances. Is this a newfound hobby of hers or a strategic maneuver to strengthen ties within the provinces? One must wonder if she’s merely finding her footing as Queen-Consort or if she’s simply enjoying a leisurely respite now that John Valentinus, Prince of Alstion, has been given the responsibility of Chamberlain of the Paradisian Court moving forward. This author supposes only time will tell.

The current jewel of the Heartlands, Miss Lucia, had the privilege to choose her dance partner before anyone else, at Queen Hedwig’s behest; yet, instead of selecting a suitable match for marriage or to even hint at such a notion, she opted to dance with Father Davide, a man devoted to GOD, and GOD only. What could this mean, dear readers? Did she find the eligible gentlemen unworthy? Or, perhaps, is her heart already claimed by another? Even so, that Mistress of Robes enjoys keeping us guessing, the clever girl, and this author is eager to get to the very bottom of such an untelling tale!

Despite Lady Lucia being the focal point of this special ball, the true main event was the surprise engagement of Dame-Maire Amélie Auclair and Man-At-Arms Sorrel von Theonus. The odd yet endearing Sorrel proposed with nothing but adoration in his eyes, and Amélie’s tearful nod was met with resounding applause throughout the Hand of Horen. However, the night took an unseemly turn when Joa von Leopold, after jovially congratulating the couple, seemed to have forgotten to dampen his voice, and revealed the most scurrilous details regarding his own fiancee, Miss Valerie Auclair – of course, Dame Amélie Auclair’s darling sister. Mister Joa revealed that he and his Miss Auclair were to hasten down the aisle, as his fiancée has a very precarious condition indeed, causing a woman to be quite suddenly in need of a husband. A curious thing to reveal at such a grandiose gathering, indeed, Mister Leopold… 

The delights and dramas of our society events are something this author takes much splendor in! They are as lovely as they are enlightening! However, dear readers, let this be a reminder: guard your secrets well if you do not wish to see what the Gilded Quill will scribble. Moreover, Heartlanders, if you wish to find oneself on the ink-side of The Gilded Quill, one must take a cue from the Paradisian Court and infuse one’s seasonal gatherings, as well as the ones you attend, with the perfect blend of intrigue and wonderment.

After all, the most captivating stories are born from the most interesting lives.

After her glorious rise into the position of the Paradisian Court’s Mistress of the Robes and their years of close companionship, the young Miss Lucia will be sponsored by Her Royal and Apotolic Majesty, the Queen-consort of Aaun, in her upcoming debut.

Let it be known to all that in celebration of this momentous occasion, a grand ball shall be held, centred around mortal virtues and sins to highlight the complexity of each individual. Each of these Virtues and Vices shall be represented by a specific colour, in which the guest may dress.

Upon the occasion there will be dances, as well as card readings based on one’s future morality and even a confession booth should courtiers wish to confess their sins. Most notably will be an outfit showcase, where the winner will win a hefty sum.

Upon the joyous day of the 12th of Horen’s Calling 1980, the Royal Household of Alstion was blessed with the continuation of the royal line of succession. A boy in good health was delivered by the Royal Physician, who upon his arrival cried out a great shriek that could be heard throughout the Hand of Horen. Their Apostolic Majesties, much to their delight, have bestowed the name GODWIN LEOPOLD ALSTION (@Balthasar) onto their son, as an ode to Saint Godwin; son of Exalted Horen, and the first King of Aaun. With such a name comes future responsibilities, for the Lord of Alba will be one half to the unification of the Heartlands as heir to his father, King Charles II.

In honour of his miraculous birth, dubbed to be Saint Calliope’s doing through the Queen-consort’s devotion to worship, and recognition of her actions against the Franks, a monastery will be erected within the Region of the Franklands, where the Grand Principality of Minitz once stood.

May GOD bring forth his blessing in times of great prosperity to House Alstion, and watch over young Prince Godwin Leopold of Aaun in his future endeavours.

Gather your senses and prepare your hearts, for the winds of change have swept through the Heartlands, leaving behind a trail of grief and murmurs. The illustrious leaders of our beloved provinces of Petra and Aaun have both departed this mortal coil within mere months of one another. The manner of their departures, however, could not have been more different. Let us delve into these tales with the keen eye and sharp wit you’ve come to expect from your Gilded Quill.

Queen Catherine I of Petra has left us in the most dramatic and heart-wrenching fashion imaginable. Only Catherine could elevate her demise to a spectacle worthy of the grandest ballad. Picture this: our valiant Queen, standing strong and resolute, daring to challenge the ringleader of an undead army to a duel on her very own dias. A leader, fighting for the freedom of her daughter and her people against a vile, rotting foe. The Legionnaires of St. Godwin, along with help from Numendain soldiers, held the line, their sturdy shield-wall a bulwark against the tide of undead minions, while Catherine battled the wicked leader in a fight for the ages.

Victory, dear readers, was indeed won, but at a great cost. Queen Catherine I succumbed to her grievous wounds, surrounded by her weeping children and valiant soldiers. It was a scene of heart-rending sorrow and fierce pride, with all of the Heartlands watching as their Petran Queen gave her life for the greater good. One must commend her bravery and self-sacrifice, for if wars could be taken care of with such valor, the realm would be a better place indeed.

In stark contrast, we turn our gaze to the late King John I of Aaun, whose passing was as quiet as his reign. King John, plucked from the sanctity of priesthood and thrust upon the throne following the tragic assassination of King Edmund I, was a leader of a different ilk. He navigated his people through the perils of the Covenant War and the tumultuous aftermath with a steady hand and a calm demeanor. There were no grand battles or heroic duels for this monarch; his strength lay in his serene guidance and unwavering devotion to his people’s well-being.

Though his life and death may lack the spectacle of Queen Catherine’s, perhaps it was this very unremarkable nature that made King John precisely what Aaun needed. His passing from illness, in the quiet of his home, marked the end of an era of healing and stability. Bravo, Your Majesty, and may you find peace in the afterlife as you did during your reign.

That little-talked-about Queen Sybille I of Balian perished in the distant desert, a fate that has barely stirred a whisper beyond her own borders. It is rumored she was present at the battle where Azdromoth bested Xan, succumbing later to the injuries sustained there. Yet, little else is known or, frankly, of concern, for the true heart of the realm beats firmly within the bosom of Aevos, far removed from that southern sandpit. The evidence leads this author to urge the query: can one truly mourn the passing of a ruler whose kingdom is so little regarded?

As we bid farewell to Queen Catherine I and King John I, we are left to ponder the true nature of leadership and legacy. Catherine’s fiery bravery and ultimate sacrifice stand in stark contrast to John’s quiet wisdom and peaceful demise. Which path truly serves the people best? Is it the boldness of a queen who fights to the bitter end, or the steady hand of a king who nurtures his realm through calm? And what of those like Sybille, whose tales are whispered only in the shadows of history? As the dust settles on these monumental changes, we must ask ourselves: what kind of leaders do we truly need as we pace forward into the unknown?

Until the next twist in our grand tale, may your hearts be as steadfast as our heroes and your days as intriguing as their legacies.

As the velvet curtains of the Social Season rise, our esteemed readers, it is with great delight that we regale you with tales from the enchanting Masquerade of Rosius, held amidst the rolling hills of the Province of Aaun. From both the Petra and Aaun, denizens of the Heartlands gathered to shed the burdens of winter and embrace the joyous camaraderie that accompanies such splendid affairs.

The stars of the evening, crowned with laurels of admiration, were none other than the resplendent Miss Lucia, Mistress of Robes for the Paradisian Court, and the debonair Viscount of Azor, Friedrich von Augusten. Bedecked in finery that spoke volumes of their exquisite taste and the ingenuity of renowned designers, they captured the hearts and imaginations of all in attendance, earning not only the applause of the masses but also the coveted Mina-prize, generously bestowed by the coffers of the house Dieuxmont de Rosius.

However, amidst the whirl of festivities and the rustle of silken masks, keen eyes could not fail to notice a clandestine rendezvous unfolding in the shadowed corners of the ballroom. The Dame-Maier of Vallagne, the captivating Amélie Auclair, was spotted in the tender embrace of Initiate Sorrel von Theonus of the Legionnaires. Their affectionate display, witnessed by a select few, ignited whispers of intrigue and speculation. Could this burgeoning romance herald the union of two souls, destined to intertwine in the tapestry of fate?

Yet, not all was serenity and splendor beneath the glittering masks. A scene of discord unfolded as Prince Paul of the Petra found himself embroiled in a heated exchange with his daughter, Lady Helene-Olympe. Witnesses recount a distressing moment as the Duke of Valfleur, in a display unbecoming of his station, was seen to raise his hand against his own flesh and blood. Such unsavory conduct casts a shadow upon the esteemed House of Valfleur, leaving us to ponder the depths of familial strife behind closed doors...

As we bid adieu to the eventful Masquerade of Rosius, let us extend our heartfelt gratitude to the gracious hosts, the young Lady Isabeau-Karine and Lord Louis-Caspian de Rosius, for opening their illustrious home to the denizens of the Heartlands. With bated breath, we await the continuation of this year’s Social Season, eager to uncover the mysteries and scandals that lie in wait.

Twas the third location of the ROYAL TOUR OF ALBA that led us a little closer to home. By the Petran province border it sat overlooking the fields of Aaun, unmissable in size. Whilst most of my childhood interests were spent in the company of birds and friends alike, my husband Prince Charles was invested in niche politics that preserved cultural heritages, such as the Waldenic Diet. Here, it was where he learnt of HOUSE VON THEONUS.

The Lord of Alba and I visited VISSENGREN when it was only the Margraviate, but with their recent promotion I can introduce them now as the DUCHY OF VOHENHEM; our third tour date.
 

The disruption of the Garmont Assembly led our visit to be short, yet not a moment was wasted. Upon this day did we decide to bring along Bishop Yann, Mistress of the Robes Lucia and Lord Demetrio Varoche, the heir to the County of Ves and a childhood friend of the Crown Prince and I. We were greeted at the steps by Lords AUREL, ARTEL AND KONSTANTIN VON THEONUS who swiftly prompted us onward. I admired their ability to keep to a time-constrained schedule, for they knew everything they wished to show us. Blessed we were for a tour of their glorious keep, who stands monstrous on the roads deeper into the Petran countryside.

SIR ARTEL showed us the foundry, where many of their weaponry are made. Most notable are the cannons for the SIEGE OF ANTHILL, which Prince Charles found to be a tremendous piece of knowledge the family should be proud of. Here they craft out of rare metals like azhl and boomsteel, or treated with frost salt. I have yet to hold a blade forged from their smithery, but when I do I shall recall back fondly on being shown firsthand the time and care put into its creation.

Now did SIR KONSTANTIN proudly show off their Petran war horses. The horse that was picked out for us to see was dressed in ceremonial armour. The suit of plate was gilded, bearing small engravings of the sun and eagle which, notably, was on the von Theonus crest. The name of this horse breed was the MARDONLANDER CHARGER, bred for travel and war. The Petran fleet rode these steeds into battle, from Hippo’s Gorge to Easworth Forest. Due to the difficult terrain, we were informed that the horses adapted overtime to being able to climb the steep surface of the mountains. I had asked in particular whether or not the ceremonial armour was made in their foundry, to which it was. In fact, because of their placement on the border the family had to learn to be self-sufficient overtime. What a commendable enterprise!

It was Lady CALLA VON THEONUS’ turn to take us towards the gardens of Vissingren, whose flowers were in bloom upon the day of our visit, and are held in high regard. According to the tale, it was the rose frields of  Reinmar that their late rulers, Karl and Annette, fell in love. Since then, the family have taken pride in including gardens into the different iterations of their keeps. The love in this garden, especially with how it was maintained, was evident all around us. I could not help but let myself be immersed in the romance of our surroundings. The kindness of Lady Calla was not only shown in her upkeep of the gardens, but through how she gifted us all with cookies of her making! Ribbons of white and blue decorated them, and they tasted delicious. It was with the gift that the tour did conclude, and we headed off towards Vallagne together.

Despite our stay being one of the shortest thus far, we took delight in learning about the pride and joys of von Theonus, who showed us exactly why they were promoted amongst the nobility. The Duchy of Vohenheim shall receive a COMMEMORATIVE PIN in honour of their hospitality.

I can only begin this volume of my publications by declaring wholeheartedly that this next location is one of the places I feel most at ease, even before the tour dates were drafted. I had grown up in the mountains of Langkette by the coast of the Silver Sea, yet something about being in the heart of the buzz of a port made me feel alive. Our second stop led us north of Vallagne upon the riverbed, for Prince Charles and I made ourselves at home in the FREE CITY OF CHAMBERY for the duration of our stay.
 

Immediately upon my arrival into the square, I met an Oyashiwoman who introduced herself with the name DODAITOSE, explaining that she was the secretary to the President of the Northern Geographical Society. She was more than polite to talk to, and had a great presence to her that made her appear wiser than her years. She greeted me as well as one could as a total stranger, though she was well spoken in our small talk. Once conversation went underway with Miss Dodaitose, my company found themselves arriving into the square. The Lord of Alba and I were accompanied once more with the young squire George Halcourt, as well Prince Alexander Caius Alstion, my brother-in-law, and my Mistress of the Robes Lucia. Then also did appear NICOLAS VON WITTENBACH, the Bourgmestre of Chambery, with his usual cheer. The Mayor Nicolas has never failed to put a smile on my face, and his greeting made an already sunny day beam brighter. We were told by him that we were to go on a guided walk around Chambery, to learn of its vast history and culture.

Once our tour of the caves came to a close, we were led back into the main square. The statue that loomed over, we were told, was Dame Celestine Herbert. Learning more about this woman, I found her incredibly inspiring; paving the way for cultures, scholars, artists and artisans through founding the NORTHERN GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY. With future research I dedicate my life’s work in the courts to becoming more like Dame Celestine, and it is all thanks to both Nicolas and Dodaitose for introducing me to the remarkable lady.

Onward did our flank lead up the stairs in the NGS building, where a private exhibition was held in our honour about my husband’s interest in imperial history. Notable relics we saw were: helmets worn by King Olivier de Savoie and St. Emma, a quill that belonged to Joseph II, Emperor of Oren and a silver jubilee pocket watch of Emperor Peter III. What caught my Mistress of the Robes’ eye in particular was a magma cream, from the NGS’ expedition into the Nether. She asked whether or not one could drink the substance, which wasn’t recommended, but apparently lathering it on the skin sprouts the ability to resist the hottest of temperatures. Dear reader, if there was more magma cream in existence I would recommend it as a moisturiser in the morning, but alas; there is only one of its kind, and it is in the heart of the society’s archives!

After a brief look of the library, we enjoyed some luncheon of beef and potatoes alongside wine and juice. This is where we came to learn of the wine menu, and one in particular caught my eye. Coronation Wine, from the coronation of King Josef I of Hanseti-Ruska in the first year of the Second Age. Immediately drawn to how Borgmestre Nicolas could of preserved this wine, he told me that HOUSE VON WITTENBACH is known for its long history in being winemakers and merchants. He offered me a drink of Petran Red, in which I humbly accepted, allowing for Prince Charles, Nicolas and I to engage in conversation. Not once did we feel alienated in our titles, and were made to feel at home as we dined together. I can only thank the Bourgmestre for allowing us to truly feel at peace.

You can tell that the hardworking people of Chambery love their craft, for it is present through each street one can walk down. In my work of reforming the Heartlander Courts I shall find myself there more often, soaking in the culture. My dear readers, I implore you to take a trek to the north of the Petra province's capital and spend some time around the city yourselves, for my penmanship will never do this location justice. The Free City of Chambery shall receive a COMMEMORATIVE PIN in honour of their hospitality.

On the continent of Aevos, where legends roam,

And heroes, brave, make their home,

There dwelled a warrior, distinct and true,

Whose deeds would shine in skies of blue.

Alberic, his name, did it ring,

A champion bold, with a sword to swing.

Beside him stood Astraea’s flair,

Their bond unbroken, beyond compare.

Siblings as they were in heart and mind,

Their fists held high, used against the most unkind.

In Lotusgrad's streets, they fought as one

Against darkness’s nightmares, 'til the day was done.

But shadows lurked, with eyes unseen,

And fate's cruel hand played in between.

Bound by chains of Azdrazi's might,

To Azdromoth's realm, they took their flight.

The Arch-drakkar, with words of deceit,

Offered freedom, if Alberic would cheat.

But true to his honor, he stood his ground,

Refusing the bargain, in courage, he was found.

Summoning Xan's grace, he broke the chains,

And battled foes through fiery plains.

His spear, a beacon of righteous ire,

Struck Azdromoth, a kill to admire.

Yet, in that clash, fate's cruel call,

Alberic's defeat, in the final fall.

But his sacrifice was not in vain,

For freedom's light began to reign.

A comet streaked, across the sky,

A testament to a world he would too soon say goodbye.

In death, he soared among the stars,

His legacy etched in fantastical memoirs.

Though Alberic's journey has reached its end,

His spirit lives on in every friend.

For he stayed true to his noble creed,

In valor's name, he planted his seed.

So let the bards in keeps and halls resound,

The tale of Alberic, forever renowned.

In epic verse, his fate has been told,

One of bravery and honor, having broken the mold.

Counting down the months until I wed the Lord of Alba, together we had planned meticulously our pathway after marriage and the impending duration of our honeymoon. With the confederation only born only hours after the announcement of our engagement, I suggested to Prince Charles that we should embark on a royal tour whilst we are still young and full of optimism; a chance to know our future vassals, both of Petran and Aaunish origin. Thus, the ROYAL TOUR OF ALBA was born. Within the year did we begin to lay out the foundations of our visits, contacting noble lords and ladies alike upon their availability. Each location we are to visit will be recorded and published for the use of education amongst the PARADISIAN COURT, so that future generations will know of their noble peers and landholders’ humility; an example made of them. 

The first stop of our tour found ourselves in the heart of the Petran province: VALLAGNE. There, the VISCOUNTY OF STORMONT and seat of HOUSE REINHOLD reside.
 

I confess, dear reader, that I had not known the VISCOUNTY OF STORMONT too well before our visit. Yet, upon our arrival into Vallagne we noticed that despite a lack of place of their own outside the once-capital of Petra, they had made themselves at home in their corner of town. Our entourage approached Manor Raònoir, and made our presence known. Upon first glance could I tell that both Sir Reinholds prided themselves on their gentility, for when they showed their faces did they beam as radiant as the sun. SIR WILFORD REINHOLD in particular took my interest, as he offered a polite bow and asked us how our evenings had gone.

No time was wasted after first introductions, for we were welcomed into the manor before we knew it. SIR ATTICUS REINHOLD informed us that their newly-established family prided themselves on their artisans; craftsmen, painters, and architects. Whilst I found the space of the manor well-utilised for a makeshift exhibition of one’s family crafts, I could not help but feeling as though they would be better suited for somewhere humble, yet their own, to have rooms and rooms of artwork proudly displayed for all to see. Established art galleries instead of a salon-made. Yet, enough of my nitpicking. My royal husband is not one to engross himself in the arts, but that did not stop him from engaging with the paintings.Whilst I took to discovering the history of House Reinhold and how they came to live in Petra, he and our esteemed companions braved the parlour for artefact viewing. I will not dabble much into the history of House Reinhold (I believe you should, dear reader, take the time to ask the good sirs yourself), but I admired the devotion and work they put into establishing themselves amongst the ranks. Two great minds, each with different skill sets, came together to form a strong partnership. They are a testament to what great effort can award you in life.

Here I note how incredibly informed LADY ADELYN REINHOLD, the heiress of Stormont, was. She did not hesitate to enlighten everyone on the painter, her aunt Angelina. She is an esteemed architect throughout the province. I was not familiar with her work before spotting her portraits upon the wall, but dare I say Princes Charles and I now are now fans of her artistry. In my eyes, Lady Adelyn should appear more in society so that she may grace others with her presence for she was a delight to be around.

One piece that piqued my interest was an open sketchbook by Lord Oliver Reinhold. Sketches, both in colour and lack of, displayed various pieces of clothing. Some were formal dresses, others casual daywear, though it was clear upon further inspection that. There was even a mannequin in his tailoring. I express my utmost, and commend him on his fine needlework. I have yet to meet Lord Oliver, but when I do I shall put him in good word with my own Mistress of the Robes, Miss Lucia.

From then did a man of our flank, squire George Halcourt, find himself engrossed in a blade displayed. Our attention was drawn towards the encounter, like a moth to a flame, that I could not help but marvel. Sir Wilford was the first to speak on the dagger, which we found out was his craftsmanship. George was able to wield the blade himself, which proved to the knights of Petra his future alongside them in the knighthood of the Heartlander Confederation. Sir Wilford's work was impressive, given his extensive years of refining his talents. One ought to seek the lord out for commissions.
 

We look forward to seeing Sir Atticus and Sir Wilford Reinhold as they continue to embark on changing the legacy of the Petran province. Furthermore, we would be delighted to visit again in the foreseeable future and thank them for their time. The Viscounty of Stormont shall receive a COMMEMORATIVE PIN in honour of their hospitality.
