The Imperial scribes quickly write in elaborate cursive letters to the various noble's. Each one reads:

"Greetings, all landed nobles must make known of position in oncoming civil war. If a settlement does not respond, it will be considered inactive and may face punishment after war. If you respond switching loyalty to the treasonous Sophia Horen, you and all of your family will be stripped on Nobility and hunted down."

The Scribes of The Emperor

-The crest of the Kingdom of Oren and the Emperor lay here.

These letters are sent out to all the nobles and towns of the empire.

Baron William Dunham makes due arrangements and preparations for the upcoming war, receiving the letter via courier. Tapping rhythmically upon his ligneous desk, he scans it over, immediately scribbling down a response on a nearby portion of parchment.

To the Imperial Crown of Oren,

The Dunhams remain everlastingly loyal, and swear to crush the pretender which claims your rightful throne. We will be supporting and backing the war effort as best we can.

Regards,

Lord William Dunham, Baron of Cavan

An anonymous letter arrives at the King's Aviary,

"We, the people who support the true claim of the throne, support empress Sophia Horen."

"To this request I say No."

The letter is thrown away, as it is not signed. The entire purpose of this missive was to ascertain which specific settlements, lords and feudatories were loyal or treasonous, and this can not be done when people are going to send in vague, anonymous letters. If we do not know who you are, then by all rights we did not receive a letter from your feudatory.
