Employment Opportunities In Abresi

*Rokkur walks in, taking a deep breath. He cringes at the poorly run tavern that is clearly out of use. It is large, and much of it is not used properly. He peeks around, his soft pads of his shoes making no sound on the wood. He coughs into his hand, looking for an innkeeper, or a tavern worker. He sighs as there is none. He walks to the wall, running his hand along the rough wood. Silently, he walks downstairs, impeded by no worker. He nearly falls down the broken stairs. Cursing, he lands softly, standing up and brushing himself off. He stirs the flooded floor with his foot, ripples spreading across the puddle. He opens the door, finding old hay. He sighs, returning to the upstairs, looking at the uneven floor.*

"This place is...run down. It is time we fixed this place up. Perhaps a little counter over there. The best brews behind the main counter. A little shop in the corner, advertisement for my other store. That painting is horrendous, shall we put in a new one? Maybe a nicer fireplace. And my god, these tables are filthy, out of order. It's time we fixed this place up. Re-design it. Make it new again.

Purpose: To restore the tavern to a better place, begin to offer a larger diversity of products from within, and if possible, come up with a kinder name. Next, and most importantly, I would strive to hire players, not NPCs, keeping RP alive. The Tavern would always have a work in it if possible, bringing in more players for a drink. RP is livened, and perhaps a good meeting or two could take place. I would also attempt to make rooms available and always easy to get, bringing in new players to Abresi, which may pull them into Abresi, cultivating an earlier, younger economy in which Abresi is no longer the butt of many OOC jokes about RP quality. Also, by creating a more diverse range of products offered, RP is enhanced as more people enter the same area. Hopefully, this would  also populate the upper square more, hopefully creating more economic flow and trade, which also enriches RP, creates good relationships. My bets relationship for a long time was with the person who taught me how to be a Knight, but some of our best reactions happened in a condensed public area, where we were surrounded by others. In fact, being surrounded by people allows for players to display their characters behavior, which will improve long-term RP (enriching personal character information and backstory).

I would also like to create Events that happen often in the tavern. These could be as simple as betting games, or as complex as Quests! I hope that by allowing for Events to have a central place, in which several players are all involved in the same Event, then RP will be enriched, wealth will low, and Abresi will prosper!

*Walks up to the tavern and places an envelope filled with information on the side by the sign "The Captured Kha".

Our business plan:

After scouting the tavern and looking around we have made a business plan.  This plan shows what we shall do, every step, to making the tavern full of life and vigor again.  Shall Abresi once more have a warming heart.

Our plan:

Reopening~

When we first get the tavern we hope to be able to make a few renovations to make the seating more open and lively looking. We will advertise the tavern and make sure everyone knows about the reopening.

How we plan on managing~

When we first open Ember and Spike will be quite active around it, setting everything up. During this we will be hiring and recruiting a lot of abresians (or so we hope mostly ppl who live in the area). We will make sure to hire people in all timezones to keep the tavern quite active. After everything has settled down, Ember and I would leave back to our taverns, leaving one loyal worker to manage the abresi tavern and take care of it. By then ember and I will only check around a couple times a week to make sure everything is going alright.

How we make sure every worker is up to Bungalow Standards~

Our taverns have a special way of making sure every worker works hard and gets equal pay. It is called "The Logbook". What this is is an easy to understand and use book that workers log in their sellings. At the end of the week the worker hands in their book and the manager checks it. Workers get paid 30% of /their/ earnings as a base pay but if they work hard they can rise that percentage. This logbook also checks which workers aren't showing up to work and doing their part and will be fired, hiring someone who will do what is needed.

Events~

Due to the size of the tavern of the tavern we hope to incorporate a festival for all of the plaza, like a merchant day where small stalls are setup around the plaza and people wander abresi to buy artifacts, gizmos, tools, etc and can go into the tavern for music and a joyous time. We also would probably have brawls and gambling throughout the week.

Supplying~

At the moment we have a huge farm that is able to supply every tavern of ours at the moment and two big breweries that can supply three kingdoms..... The Bungalow company will be able to supply the abresi tavern with ease, making sure it is always well stocked. If there ever is a need for more food we can always hire suppliers, so there is no need for Abresi itself to worry about the well-being of the tavern.

Christion de Silvarois submits a business proposal to the Stewards Office, responding point-by-point to the Lord Steward's request for business information.

Staff Projections -

Our management of the tavern would involve a drastic increase in hiring. Five to ten full-time workers in varying positions will be taken on, with additional increases planned based on need. With a commission based salary, the tavern can afford to quickly bring on employees relative to it's sales, without waiting for profit from a wholesale transaction.

Varying Activity of Customers -

Should the activity of customers vary immensely, we will hire employees to be present at peak times and depend on them to pursue commissions.

Varying Activity of Workers -

To respond to one of the most pressing problems facing the tavern, we will take many approaches. The tavern will provide lodgings to it's workers on request, so that they are located near their area of employment. The employee salary will be commission-based, earning half (or more) of the profit from a sold good. The management will hire a large amount of full-time workers, erring on the side of too many  rather than allowing patrons to go unserved. As I, Christion, live in Abresi at the moment, activity will not be a problem and I will be on-site contributing to the tavern's revival.

To further offset worker issues, management of the tavern will be slowly decentralized. Several clearly-ranked managers will be appointed to take care of day-to-day issues. This decentralization will allow the rest of the employees to be employed part-time, so that they can also pursue other occupations and widening the recruitment pool for the tavern.

Tavern Events -

We will plan many events to be hosted in the tavern ourselves, and allow citizens to schedule their own events for a small fee. In addition to deals and price-drops at the bartender's discretion, celebrations will be held on all recognized holidays. To promote festivity, members of certain groups such as the Kingdom's military will eat and drink at a reduced price, for their service. We will provide a submission box by the bar, allowing any citizen to host an event in the tavern catered by it's staff. Using this system we expect that the demand for novel celebrations in the city will be met, adding a vibrancy to daily life in Abresi.

Inventory Stock -

The tavern will be stocked using methods that benefit local Abresi businesses while maintaining continuity. A portion of the basic commodity goods such as bread will be grown on lands owned by the tavern directly, in order to ensure a minimum available product. The rest will be sourced from Abresi vendors at wholesale prices, allowing the entire city to contribute to the renewal of the Captured Kha.

Inventory Stability -

Our approach to ensuring inventory stability will be two-fold. Firstly, we will vastly overstock goods purchased from vendors in off-site warehouses. These warehouses will be located in the city of Abresi, to ensure that taxes from all facets of the business go to the municipal government of the city. Secondly, we will create a wholesale food drop-off area in the back of the tavern. This will allow citizens of the city to sell directly to the tavern, and provide diverse goods created by many different people to the customers of the tavern.

Structural Changes -

The exterior of the tavern will remain unchanged. However, we will seek permits to make moderate changes to the interior in order to further our vision for the tavern. While we will keep the cozy culture of the first floor, we will set up furniture and pillars in a way that allows for openness and privacy at the same time.

A note is attached to the end of the formal business proposal.

"I hope that the Steward's office chooses a resident of the city to contribute to it's revival rather than a foreigner who will constantly drain minas from Abresi. By supporting my proposal, you ensure that profits from the tavern will be returned to Abresi through taxes and patronage of local business. It is my goal to make this tavern into the centerpiece of the city's life, both by creating a class of locally-sourced vendors and providing a wholesome center for the population to congregate."

With regret, your application for Tavern management has been declined.

Another business plan was found superior to the one you chose to present us with.

We thank you for your interest and hope to see you visiting our Tavern, if not offering your service to the new management.
