Dread Knights And Blood Crystals

If you've only RP'd with one Dread-Knight in Adunia, how do you know if the majority do it right? It's like encountering one Dwarf that Pugsys, and saying:

"crap they're all maniacal pvperz!" I mean no offense, but I've come to enjoy the RP of my fellows in the chat. From an objective viewpoint (as much as can be), I'd say so. Though I'd talk to Augor, the current dread lord.

Read the post again. It already acknowledges my encounters with Dread Knights is limited outside of one DK that was doing it wrong and a significant bank of knowledge on how a Dread Knight is meant to operate (I was taught fairly extensively how to play one for an Asulon event that never happened).

The question was if there is an absence of information available the players who play Dread Knights on how they're intended to be played, to which I think you responded with yes.

EDIT: Bucky, you say "I was told if we were infected by one our Dread Lord was no longer our master. Then I was told the first person you saw was your new Dread Lord... seriously, I'm so lost ". Who told you that? I'm trying to get to the bottom of this, because it sounds awfully like whoever said that is either making stuff up off the top of their head or trying to use golem lore on a Dread Knight. If they're a Harbinger, that needs straightening out.

How can I even become a dread knight. Does the spell also work on robes?

I'll start from the top. First off, thank you Blundermore, your fix eye on my roleplay will be amusing as I continue to play my character. The magic this is just the one thing I enjoy to debate about. I guess this post could have came off as a rant (At first it was.... seriously, WHAT DO WE DO???) but I threw in the magic as a joke. I figured it was obvious about my various statuses about being a Dread Knight married to a Pineapple or something and that he was going to learn Priest Healing. Those parts are all obvious jokes.

Though, I would like to make a comment about how 'OP' we really are. I honestly don't see it. Unless you powergamed your own race Blundy, all we are in this point in time are "Ahh! Unholy beast! Everyone, grab that mace and/or polearm you keep on you for this specific occasion and aim for the joints!" I think on paper, we have advantages. In Role-Play? We aren't but knights in thick armor. Knights who, one out of every three fights are asked to PK.

So, I think the answer to your question, Lago, is obvious. I might not speak for my fellow Dreads, but I speak for myself when I say, "WHERE IS THE LORE AND GUIDELINES?" I won't blame Augor for being untrained in how to play one, considering it was only two weeks or so before we were corrupt after we turned. We weren't given time to learn how to play before being thrown out into a 'Solo-Dread World' where my character isn't sure if he should seek out the Dread Lord on fear that he will be punished for his actions, or if his 'soul demands him to return' or whatever lore-forcing reasons are given.

And to be honest, it's my turn to be Abrasive, I understand that you are a Lore Master and the creator of the lore, but I don't see where it gives you the right to play my character for me? You created the lore yes, yet so did Geoboy create the Kha lore. Kha are few just like the Dread Knights and they are allowed freedom in their characters. That's just one example, take the Elf lore. The SERVER lore that we are founded on. Whats the Ratio of peaceful elves to elven assassins anymore? I'm pretty sure the lore says that elves are the long lived peaceful farmers and thinkers, not the sword wielding maniacs they have DEVELOPED into.

How far will the server go if it stays fixated in the past and allows no room for improvement? Oh wait, I forgot we are getting back to the basics. Returning to the age of 'Minas or Die' and useless magic. You know, I might as well take a hike if creativity with our own characters is no longer accepted.

If you play a DK you have to follow DK lore and play a DK as they were intended. Period. Likewise, you don't get to play a golem that speaks in a sophisticated manner and does ninja backflips. An elf can defy 'convention' and be an assassin but they can't shapeshift into a dragon. Goms, Dread Knights, Fjarriauga, they have a lot of limitations on how they can be played, and those who can't or don't want to work within those limitations play normal characters, who you have a lot more freedom with.

Although I'll see what I can do about getting the rules for DKs to be much clearer and more readily available. Can't expect you to RP a Dread Knight properly if you don't know how.

That is all that is needed. Thank you Lago.

Let us look at this, my my my we've come a far way. Alright since you all seem to be wondering this is how the corruption upon this dread knight was supposed to work.

To my understanding, this one only had a blood shard shoved up its chest for all intensive purposes, NOW, this just ever so happens to have a slow corruptive effect upon whomever or whatever it touches, hence the DK. This is opposed to what I did to borg's character, quite literally using the Harbinger's corruptive abilities to do the same work that was done to early kambassadors, yet only mentally as there was no need to do so physically due to it being a suit of armor. With the mind cracked the body followed.
We're not talking of Verin though~ In any case if you wanted to rp it this way then you'll also need to break it this way. This can be accomplished via clerical means or other methods of uncorruption, good luck with that by the way, as to my knowledge thats the only way it can work -shrugs- I may be wrong, don't quote me here. Nonetheless the blood shard by itself wouldn't have been irremovable, and would have only fully corrupted the being if left within for an extended, and we're talking /extended/ period of time.

If you have any more questions about Harbinger lore, ask myself or another Harbinger who can ask me~ Till then, enjoy le RP

Never come across a single Dread Knight that I thought was "doing it right". Then again, only ever come across one Dread Knight, and that was in Adunia.

Is there a lack of information on the DK side of things on how to RP the creatures and where their limits lie?

This players questions have been answered and the situation resolved.

Should you wish to have this reopened, please PM me your reasons why it should be so.
