Speech From A Malii

Zress moves to the center of Malinor and looks around. She begins to speak as people begin to gather around.

"Fellow Mali. For much of my life I have bowed to Mali'Ahearal. I am sorry to say I will no longer do so. The high council has placed a brand new High Prince, one who has not been prince long enough for the honor of leading Malinor. Why has the high council done this? Because its a new Mali'Ahearal. I will not stand for this. The Mali'Ahearal look down on us, not just Mali'ker but also Mali'ame as if we are insignificant. I bowed to Titania because she had much time to prove she was worthy to me. However, this new High Prince is unknown and very new.

Put a Mali'ker or a Mali'ame as high prince. Prince Lion who has done much for us by creating jobs and showing his strength. Prince Khel who has protected many of us in battle. Sadly I see no Mali'ame as a prince or princess and this saddens me. I would prefer a council made of leaders of each Mali. One man, one woman, and a High prince or princess elected from them.

I am not bowing again to a Mali'Ahearal that I do not even know. Who here is with me?"

Zress looks around at the people. She feels that the voice of one will not be heard, but she hoped the voice of many others will agree.

Vierna nods, standing off to the side. "Not bowing to any more Aheral.."

Isabella blinks blankly as she processes the speech, having only just learned of this event. She frowns, ears drooping at the comment about no Mali'ame princesses, but remains silent.

Kalameet raises his hands to about chest level, his palms facing outwards

"Oh my... Calm yourself, Child. Do not slander the Mali'aheral name do to one you do not like, this is illogical. Regardless, I agree. I've never even heard of this Prince; how was he voted?"

Zress looks to Kalameet. "There are only a few Mali'ahearal that have not harmed me physically or mentally. This makes my statement more as, I have a strong dislike for how Mali'ahearal act towards most of us, not just myself. Many think they are better than others. I am allowed to have my opinion of them."

Ouity smiles wryly as he listens to the speech, idly calling out to the girl.

"Isn't judging this man based on his nature just as bad as what they did to us? Or for that matter, the Roses? Give him a chance, everybody is new sometime,"

“It is a bad leader that allows unrest to spread throughout his nation…” the High Prince says, stepping forward. “but it is a worse one by far that does not address the qualms and beliefs of his people.”

The Prince pauses, folding his arms behind his back. His blue-grey eyes find Zress and regard her without anger or conceit, only a small amount of sadness.

“I am, contrary to popular belief, not a Mali’aheral. My blood is as mixed as many of yours, I do not hold the high and mighty beliefs of the ‘pure ones’. An elf is an elf, regardless of the colour of his or her skin or the integrity of their bloodline. We are all children of Malin, and I do not discriminate against any Elf. Neither should you.”

“As for my qualifications, I can assure you that I have worked ceaselessly for the Elven Princes since they raised me to the Council, and subsequently to Prince. I forged the cease-fire that ended the vastly unpopular Carrion War, for instance, before I even became Prince.”

“If you have an issue you feel needs to be addressed apart from that, or desire to speak your mind, please do. That is the basis of our government, after all… and I am always willing to listen.”
