Letter To Anthos

In the early hours of the morning, a printed parchment is spread throughout the lands of Anthos, nailed upon billboards, trees and lampposts. As you squint your eyes to look closer at the words it bears, you see it gives no signature but appears to be clear who it was written from.

“To the many denizens who reside upon this land of Anthos,

I write this letter to you, not as a dwarf of Urguan but as one amongst many who must live and coexist in this world together. Whatever name we choose to call our creator, know that we are all here as mortal beings, capable of making acts of both good and evil. These are paths that we all must choose for ourselves. Yet it is clear that in recent years our morals have decayed, our wisdom tarnished and broken from years of warfare. Our people are dying. I wish for you to see therefore that true strength derives not from Lords or Kings but from the doings of the common folk who see virtue in the darkness.

There is good and evil among every corner of this world. Yet to all those who pledge themselves to King Heinrik of Oren, I say this. It is no secret that the Kingdom of Oren seeks to wipe out the race of dwarves and make no mistake, the humans wish to commit genocide upon my people. I therefore ask you now, what words uttered from the mouths of any Lord of Oren justifies such mindless slaughter? We as the people of Anthos are approaching a calamity. No longer do we look upon true evil as our enemy but instead towards each other. Oren seeks to destroy our culture, our people and everything our kind has fought and died for, for over a thousand years. The so called United Anthos Coalition has become nothing more than a means of driving forth evil, no better than the Black Scourge itself.

Remember that these are men of the same ilk who fought for the White Rose, slaughtering elves in Malinor by the day. These are too the same men who believed the uruk to be barbarians, uncivilized creatures, unworthy of the same birth given right as their own kind. These are a people who have led the way to countless years of suffering and death upon these lands. Rather cowards now spit upon the graves of their ancestors and fight in the name of this tyranny?

Elves of Malinor, your freedom was granted to you by the Grand King Thorin Grandaxe many years ago. Never have we since sought to conquer your people or bring you to ruin as those you now align yourselves with. If you are truly beings of peace, would you not see truth that this war is not one of goodwill, nor righteousness? Orcs of Krugmar, our kind have fought for centuries. There is no denying this. However, we have stood as both enemies and friends in the past. There are days long passed where our ancestors would fight for honour on the battlefield. See now that this war is driven only by the will to dominate and destroy our people. I ask you all, where is the honour in that?

I do not deny that mistakes were made in what led to the outbreak of this war. Years of disputing and aggression between our peoples spawned only animosity and hatred. Even upon the signing of the blood pact between Grand King Thorik Grandaxe and Emperor Godfrey Horen, we were never truly at peace. Yet if if the people of Anthos are to wage war now, see that it shall not see an end in this lifetime or the next. The sons of their fallen fathers will seek vengeance as years pass, looking for further retribution and death. This will only succeed in spawning an endless cycle of chaos.

To those who doubt my words, I tell you what nonsense it is to suggest that my kind have aligned themselves with the evil of the Black Scourge. Any son of Urguan who has sought to associate himself with their kind has been punished accordingly. Should years of effort in pushing back the scourge not attest to this fact? They are no less an enemy of dwarves than they are elves, humans or orcs. Yet it seems forces are at work to invent these lies in dividing us from what should be our true goal and purpose. Never have we found ourselves in more dire a situation.

For years, dwarves have struggled daily in fighting back Ondnarch’s tides from the south. Our kin have bled upon these lands, driven from our sacred halls to where we now reside. If we are to fall, do you simply believe he will end his reign there? Ondnarch, once a servant of Iblees, will go on to encompass all of Anthos, pushing far beyond the lands of Urguan. The homes of our people will be covered in ice and darkness, lest we are to succeed. We stand now as the last defence against his tides, while we face both the United Anthos Coalition and the Black Scourge from the north.

Know that if your wish is to fight alongside this invasion, we will never forget what atrocities you have committed. Our fight will continue. We will never surrender to the hordes of darkness that now encroach from the north in the form of this coalition. If we are to fall, we will fall as heroes, defenders of an old age, unwavering in courage and determination. You may destroy our halls of stone, crush our bodies and flatten our temples but our memories... Our legacies will live on for all eternity. As the sands of time fall short, and your hair is greyed, you will see that there was nowt but evil purpose in your doings. Hear these words before the end and depart from the course that will lead us all to ruin before it is too late. Only then will true peace be within our grasp.”

*Some posters are nailed besides the posters of whom the dwarves had nailed up, some can be found on the dwarven forts walls*
"Dwarves... They raid our lands, they burn our crops. They kill our innocent children in the streets leaving them to die painfuly. You cannot talk about a genocide when you come rampaging into our lands and massicure our children and the people of Oren. Such actions cannot be undone... you did this... expect your punishments!"

William sends a letter back

"To the Writer of the Original Letter"

"Don't try and turn this around, you write as if we declared war on you this couldn't be further from the actual truth. You started this war when you attempted to Invade Oren and put a Half Elven Tarus on the throne obviously you must understand in recent years thanks to efforts from myself, the laws on elven blood in Nobility have been made more strict. Trying to put a half elf on the throne of humanity is not only insulting our race but our culture, you wouldn't have stopped until you destroyed our culture and you want us to stop.

You continued the war when I myself sent an offering to cease all hostilities. You laughed at me, my attempt for peace. You keep forgetting who started the war it was you and your King. We do not intend to kill all the dwarves but remove the Cancer of the obvious idiocy of your leadership."

"If you want peace you are going to have to do what I did when Thorin came to me for peace. Give up a lot more than you wanted to but you'll live. Remember that. But we both know you and your hypocrisy will stop you from getting any peace."

Horen senses are tingling

"That reason was never proven, just used immediately, they wanted a war. Thorins reason to declare war on Horen the fifth wasn't much better. Remember how much I had to sacrifice to stop the war? Well perhaps the Dwarves need to think about doing the same thing."

A letter is sent from the desk of Malric Varodyr, Baron and Coalition General to the dwarven lands, him hoping it will reach the one who wrote the letter.

"Your talk of standing down ground and fighting to the death does sound formidable, I will give you that, but let us remember how this war truly began.

Well, if I remember correctly, it was the Dwarves who added the rebels Tarus and Silverblade in the most futile rebellion since those numerous of Adunia. You might try and paint the Holy Kingdom of Oren as the bad one in this situation, but the entire world will know that it was you who started this war, not us. And now, when our troops knock at your doorstep, you turn to scandalous lies in order to protect your petty dwarven holdings.

Know this, dwarf. You who sided with the Scourge of the north, and yet you speak of us a darkness upon the land. I will not stop until your petty little pissy ass **** dwarven kingdom is reduced to your Creator forsaken Ordnarch infested dark halls! Or until you surrender, unconditionally.

Sincerely, Malric Varodyr. Deus Magnus.

The magic telepathic dwarf looks over its shoulder to make sure no Legion Soldiers have noticed its escape from its box, then sends a reply.

"Yer nae deny it? And t'e reason Thorin led, let us nae forget, all of Anthos against Oren was because 'is Empire was surpressing and destroyin' t'e other races. T'e Orcs were bein' driven from their lands by Oren Crusaders, and t'e Rose conquered Malinor, took over half their lands and turned t'e elven city int'e a puppet state. If yer claim Urguan brought this on itself, then yer cannae claim what 'appened t'e Horen V was unjustified.

And besoides, what was Oren forced to give up? Lands that were nae yers t'e take! T'e ancestral lands of t'e people of Krugmar, Lenfarthin' and Malinor! All t'e Dwarves ahve is what remains of their lands, and their lands alone."

Uses his Horen powers again

"They Conquered the Westerlands, took Salvus, soon after that they took all of the human land and you don't think they did wrong there? They were motivated by greed in that war nothing more and nothing less, for it is their nature so do not defend them."

*Uses the Meanking effect*

"You speak lies human. Your surrender to my father was not driven by his greed but by your fear of what would happen if you were left to fend alone against the other Kingdoms of Oren, without dwarven defences. Had the Grand Kingdom not intervened, Oren would have desecended into chaos. You begged to join beneath him and he did you a favour! When he was slain by Ondnarch, he granted all of Oren independence. It seems nothing has changed with the deceit of humans. Aye, if we must, we will fight and die to the end and the world will see and know of your lies."

*Reads the letter, to which he responds to the Lords and Grand King reading it*

"Some have called this war unnecessary, But i ask you - is it unnecessary to protect our children? Is it unnecessary to stand against evil? We do this not because we want to, but because WE MUST, because if we let them the Humans will deny us every freedom, every liberty we have worked so hard to obtain. We Dwarves have always been a resilient people, we toil while other complain, we persevere when other give up! And when evil stares us in the eyes... We stare right back. That is who we are, our fathers fought and died for Urguan, and we can do no less."
