What exactly is the system for the magic? When beta testing will we be able to find out how to get new spells and how to upgrade our abilities with them?.

Will we still be able to use out magic RPly if we haven't learned it in the plugin / it isn't represented in it and we had it at a previous date? As in, will we still be able to use magic we had pre-plugin in an RP battle, just not PvP?

No, you will have to use magic that is your around your skill level. The magic plugin is the new magic system that will monitor the roleplay, the mechanical standard will dictate how powerful you can be. Enforcing this is done by inspecting a player, and by doing so (they must also allow you) you can find out a rough estimate of their magical power.

No, learning magic will remain unknown until plugin release.

To go off Domainoft ->

I feel that we are working towards this sense of play-ability and giving players the chance to explore/advance and gain skill in certain areas of MC via plugins. If we were to just give away the advanced things to a few players it takes the fun, the adventure and mystery out of the experience. In terms of mechanical skill at the start of 4.0 everyone should be on an equal playing field. We switch places to get a fresh start so it would make sense to have everyone make a fresh start, at least mechanically.

What you don't understand is that people have spent MONTHS learning magic and already gotten completely and utterly fucked by the MA removal and 'self-regulation', and now they will simply lose hard-earned abilities completely because of the purpose of a 'fresh start'? Why?

Will existing mages (At least those recognized on the old tier system) be given any compensation or early levels? It wouldn't be fair, IMO, if a year-old mage character was forced to the same level as some player's new wizard alt.

What of the restricted magic? Will others be able to learn that?

No disrespect but, just out of curiosity, how would it be explained in rp when the character's who have had magic suddenly aren't able to do their magic anymore?

Is there a planned story line or explanation or something? Honestly, I'm getting a bit concerned here. I don't exactly agree with this complete reset of magic in role play, especially since we might not even be able to have our specific magics in the plugin. I understand the need to regulate magic role play, to a point, but I think going as far as to restrict role play to the plugin is a bit much.

Why not make a feedback post or discussion thread where we can talk about this. It would make for a nice topic. Not in the magic plugin preview~ it isn't needed here and would make great feedback or a discssion topic on its own.

Um guys, I already explained we haven't decided on the level of compensation, calm down.

No feedbacks or Your Views are going to be made, I explained in the OP that this plugin has been in dev for a significant amount of time. I've thought of a myriad of issues and yeah we'll handle them, but as one guy I can't tackle everything simultaneously. You're going to see these posts about Nexus-Magic, Nexus-Crafting, Nexus-Regions, Nexus-Chat/Nexus-Core-- but I'm not going to be completely polishing them off until we're near 4.0 release as it does take time.

So atm I'm pumping out new content, polishing and bug fixing comes later. ^-^

Would it be possible for me to be set to "Vanilla" User, as if I were brand new to the server on the Test Realm, I'd like to get the plugins a fair go from scratch other than starting with many spells and the higher skill to use them. The same goes for the crafting, I'd like to further test how someone progresses from novice to expert to give you more feedback.

Thanks Tele-Wizard-Java-Guy formally known as bob.

Also, Why do so many people feel they are entitled to "perks" after a reset, rather that be Minas, Items, Skills, or Magic? I don't remember ever such thing being stated, nor has it been the "Usual" way of things moving from one map to another.

When your sandcastle is done, stand back a moment and look upon it with love and affection, but know its time will come soon. The waves beacon all of us, it is what makes such creations precious.

I would even argue against giving "compensation" to those players as well. With this plugin, no matter how much work we can put into it, we will likely never represent all of the subtypes that we had in the old system. Instead of compensating the lucky players who's subtypes are getting representation it would likely work better to start everyone off on the same playing field.

Having a group of players who busted their ass off to get to the level they were is not lucky.

Not giving us compensation and pitting us at the same level of some noob with a 1 day Mage is only giving the mages a huge **** you, ten thousand middle fingers, and five thousand slaps to the faces, two thousand kicks in the balls. Not giving the mages compensation is going to cause a massive justified shitstorm from veteran mages

I've roleplayed water Evo since may 2012, I am not going to suddenly start over because of some OOC plugin and I will not put my character at the same level as a 1 day wizard and if I'm forced to, we will have a big problem.

What if magic doesn't work the same in the new world? We should not become so attached to something that it becomes our only reason to exist.

Magic is one of he largest aspects of many people's rp. Taking that away is akin to forcing them to pk.
