Apparition Corruption

Apparitions are known by few, yet those who meet them will undoubtably remember them for their raw spectral power. Apparitions are known to be able to be corrupted by those of malevolent intent, particularly shades, harbingers and necromancers. In the case of the Shades and Necromancers, however, they have no 'corruption' to bind the apparition to their will, and thus the service of the apparition is entirely "voluntary" and based on a deal of sorts.

Apparitions serve individuals to cause harm to others. An apparition will only serve an individual if it knows it can cause more harm by allying with the individual trying to corrupt it than by simply killing that individual before them. It will not, despite this, permit any individual to shatter or break its apparition pillar. An apparition will not leave its pillar without being corrupted or if the pillar is smashed, in which case it will run rampant and cause chaos.

The apparition will linger at the place of its pillar unless it is out, with the individual who had corrupted it, enacting the "deal" made where the corruptor promised them individuals to kill. i.e. If you're not about to go kill people en-mass, it will not follow you everywhere.

A corrupted apparition still may not travel during the day. It must either be away from light as it travels, or travel only by light. Areas with torches or any breakable form of non-dim light-generating material will be extinguished by the apparition— It still can not travel in light, just because you corrupted it.

If an individual lies to an apparition about the purpose of an excursion or fails to deliver those whom it may kill (i.e. You go out with it on the premise it will cause harm, and you fail to cause any harm whatsoever) it may turn on the corruptor— Which is particularly bad given it is non-tangible and can't be harmed by anything but gold and light (things which are not often in the Dark Art's arsenal of weapons).

TL;DR

  1. Apparition corruption revolves around a sort of "contract" made where the apparition knows it can kill more people by aiding the corruptor.
  2. The apparition will not follow you everywhere you go, it only comes when it is explicitly told it will be killing things.
  3. It is not a Pokémon, it can not travel in a rock. It can only travel in darkness and will de-manifest if it is out during the day.
  4. If you don't deliver those to whom it may kill it may turn on those who corrupted it.
  5. Apparitions do not develop favorite individuals. If you let someone get to your apparition and they give it the malevolent cause of killing you, it might just help them.

Final note: Any apparition in Anthos will not follow you to 4.0 (If you want one in 4.0, go find one in 4.0). They defend their tomb, if everyone left Anthos they would be pleased.

What if their tomb was a boat?
