Current Rules Regarding The War (Ooc)

Hello everyone. In light of the recent ban reports, I think it’s important we begin to make the rules very specific and clear on the matter of raids and skirmishes. As such, I’ve discussed the situation with Firestar and Erik and we’ve decided that for the time being, these will be restricted to something quite similar to the current default raid rules. The only exception here is in the event that a nation leader makes an agreement for a skirmish to take a place.

 

  • A settlement can be raided by a faction once every two days. Make sure to keep in check with those within your nation so as to ensure you aren't unknowingly breaking this rule.
  • The maximum number of players that you can bring with you to a raid is eight.
  • If both nation leaders agree, a skirmish can be held involving as many players as both sides agree to. These are purely for fun and no land is to be transferred between factions.
  • A war claim is necessary before a region or structure may be claimed. The side that wins the war claim takes the initiative in posting the next one. If they fail to do this in a week however, the initiative will be lost and either side may post a war claim.
  • Only a nation leader can agree to a skirmish or war claim. Currently involved in the war, these are myself, Firestar25, erik0821 and Mediocregamer. If one of these is away for a lengthy period of time, they may appoint an individual to decide in their place.
  • Ladders can be placed in skirmishes, raids and war claims.
  • Siege weapons can be used in war claims, but not during raids or skirmishes.
  • Block breaking and placing is not allowed from either the attacker or the defender, except when a GM is operating siege weaponry during a war claim.
  • Returning to a battle, skirmish or raid is not allowed. This includes alternate characters or accounts.

 

In addition to these rules, it’s no secret that many players have been abusing loopholes to create raids involving way beyond the eight man limit. This is usually when a fight breaks out outside of any town or city, where usual raid rules don’t apply. This then results in one side running back to their capital, where the fight escalates until both sides grow in considerable number. Eventually they reach a point at which the confrontation is something closer in size to a skirmish/battle. No doubt these are fun but they usually last for hours and without proper GM moderation, often lead to threats of bans being thrown around. They also prevent any actual role play from occurring, which could serve to alienate certain groups of players or drive them away from our nation communities. Though we have no real means of preventing you from doing this, I would encourage both sides to show restraint and consider what’s best to avoid any OOC problems with the opposing faction. If these basic rules can all be followed by both sides, I feel there’ll be a lot less hostility going around due to the events of this war.

Why can't we make a rule that if you make a BR or are caught breaking war rules, you're suspended from said war until a said time agreed on by leaders? This would mean no ban reports as bother sides are agreeing on a certain matter. Yes/no?

I'll miss the skirmishes. They were fun til they got out of hand, but I get it. Nice we have rules it place now

Skirmishes can still take place, they just require that both nation leaders agree to them. The reason being here that the GMs are going to be coming down hard on anyone breaking raid rules and we need to prevent ban reports. Those involved may not believe any rules are being broken but when somebody logs in and instantly finds themselves being PvP'd, that's where the issues start to arise. Also in the last war, most people begun to get very bored of the trench warfare after a while.

That's good. I hope it will be a light hearted and fun thing not like "O but 5 of my guz arnt on no fight!!" The nations leaders have been doing good with this hope it stays

Dang 3 days is longer than the current raid rules, but that's cool! I think this should be a fun war as long as we can keep ban reports off.

I've been told the default rule is three days, no idea if there's a thread up to confirm that right now though. If it's lower than three in the current rules, I'll change it.

Aye we don't want trench warfare again, it ruined us the skirmishes are only fun when me toaster and Noobman don't spend 30 min climbing a red clay mountain...

Also add no PLACING blocks

Perhaps we can create some sort of system to enforce these warnings. However, I think warning someone for posting a ban report is going a little too far. I don't think we should post ban reports at all but at the same time, I don't think it's right either to penalize players for adhering to the  server's usual procedures of punishment. Particularly for newer players and those who don't use teamspeak, who aren't as familiar with the way wars are usually conducted.

What about not settlements, just walking through the land and robbing/killing people on the road.  Is that only a maximum of 8?  What about when they run into the fort, can we not attack further and continue pushing?  Or are you not allowed to run into a fort?  Forgot to mention this before Zezimuso.

I brought up that problem in the last paragraph as technically I don't believe it's against the rules. However, I do think we should discuss some sort of solution to this. Currently you can walk around outside settlements with as many people as you like. We could put an eight man cap on them but then you have the issues of people just wanting to get to the spawn for example. It would also seem a bit odd to say players can't retreat to their nation's capital but at the same time, for those chasing to be restricted from going in to pursue their foe would seem a bit unfair. If anyone has any suggestions here, that'd be appreciated.

 

I think we also need to ask the question as to whether we actually want skirmishes to start like this or not. Personally I enjoy them but have to admit, they do tend to cause a lot of issues and often go on for far too long. I don't want the war to just be constant back and forth PvP like the last one.

I'm a little sad that what happened at the High Elf city yesterday won't happen again, but I see the need for the rules. =P

Are ladders included in the no placing blocks rule?

 

Ladders are allowed in raids, skirmishes and battles, yep.
