A turn to Democracy

As the sound of swords and screams penetrated the Festinian windows of the ministry, the citizens of Alras safely refuged on their hill. It seemed that things went towards improvement, and the future looked more bright. Question was however, was it for Festina?

As the ministers opposed the queen and king of Festina with great nervousity. The topic was raised that perhaps... An Alrasian monarchy alone was enough?

The word Tyranny and absolute ruling shivered the Festinians, seeing how it turned out so well for Oren.. It was time for change, change that would revolutionize the principles of the Festinian culture. Why should their free spirits be contained with a iron-fist ruler after all? With ages of enlightment, revolution and civil war, why could they not leave their former husk of sadness aside..

So it was presented, something every monarch would punish with death, was considered by Christopher. A new world, a new name, a new destiny, was it time for a new government? With a sigh, but with a smile, he signed it. The people cheered, and the king was hugged unformally by his ministers for... The first time since the existance of Monarchy.. So it was done! After friendly debating, rational thinking and a vote, it was signed.

The Declaration of Democracy

In these turmoil times, to preserve the stability and sovereignity of our people and therefor, reform traditions and principles for our survival, this declaration will ensure reformations internally within Festina.

By signing this declaration, the current reigning monarch Christopher Volaire , first in its name. Shall sacrifice his sovereign power within Festina to the general welfare of the people, and therefor accept equalization of his status with the Ministry. The ministry shall take oath, and settle itself as the new leading entity of Festina.

To charish the culture the people have followed , and will follow for generations to come. The current reigning monarch shall keep its position as a Cultural leading figure, meaning that the monarch still formalizes diplomacy and ceremonial affairs. Therefor, a renewal of Coronation and oaths taken by the Ministry will be placed following this declaration.

Signed by:

Christopher Volaire

Baron Harrison Briarwood sits in the smithy of his newly-established keep in Vekaro. Bryn brings him a folded parchment, and he opens it, reading the contents.

"Ave Festina.

Ave Democracia."

Arnorian shakes his head rapidly.

"Alras has fine enough leaders, and in this case, an Absolute Monarchist rule works plenty fine, due to the Council. Remember, Christopher.. We're not a Kingdom under Alras, we're a collection of Noble houses under it. Mayhaps you should speak to the High Council about your ideas first?"

"Sharing the power of one person between a nation with only one citizen is still an absolute monarchy, you festering festinian!" shouts a random farmer.

Christopher places his hand on Arnorian's shoulder, shaking his head as he sees his silly minister worrying.

"Arnorian, why do you have critique for such revolutionary thing? Aren't we afterall to modernize, to set the example? I am still there, overseeing us all. Only this time, we allow our best people, to contribute to a decision."

"Ah.. My apologies. I was in a daze, I didn't quite read it precisely." He chuckles, with a nod. "Carry on with it."

Another random farmer yells likewise.
