A Note On The Fringe

Hey folks, just wanted to give a note to some complaining I've heard recently, and I want to wonder what you all think about it?

 

I believe we all have noticed the increased amount of PvP that is occuring in the Fringe. While PvP in itself is not a bad thing, I do think that the heavy combat, indeed, near constant combat, is affecting the RP of the area.

 

Some cases in point:

I am a bit annoyed at this. C'mon, guys, we are better. Maybe it's perfectionist of me to say this, but I really do feel like we need to tone down the constant warring and PvPing, lest we start to destroy our status as a roleplay server. The same mechanics and rules that apply in Anthos apply in the Fringe.

 

This is more of a personal request, as I am not much of a PvPer (obviously), but everyone nowadays seems to be PvPing instead of, you know... roleplaying!

 

Some food for thought. What do you guys think?

Oren has an AC130 now? But i'd rather them spout this than go around calling everyone "Autistic Faggots". The devolution of this community if you will. I lost faith in it getting better a long time ago.

Edit: Ofcourse that doesn't mean a beacon of hope can't be reignited once more for the future.

Offending two groups at once to provoke 4chan-esque response seems to be the motif of these people.

 

This has always been on LOTC. Looks like god knows what is making it stick out like a sore thumb more then it has before. :C

Not talking about the war itself. It is a common trend in the Fringe to head straight to PvP (although the battles certainly do promote that).

I don't mean all PvP but really, I mean for the people of Lotc to have some class and participate in RP rather than PvP... just my opinion

Get rid of default combat systems. It seems unfair to force a certain type of RP onto a person that won't enjoy it while the other does.

This is my idea:

 

Say Bob and Joe get into a fight. Here's the conversation-

Bob: ((PvP?))

Joe:((I'd rather RP.))

Bob: ((Well, PvP is default, so whatever.))

 

This is basically what happens all the time. No one really gives a rat's behind about what the other person wants to do, just what the PvPer wants to do (Not trying to say PvPers are bad or anything, but it's mostly PvPers who seem kind of rude and force PvPers onto others who actually want to RP, I have only seen 1 case where a PvPer is willing to RP). Now, what we should do is if neither party can agree on a certain type of combat, then they both void running into each other. Now, I realize this could cut back on RP, but it's a far better solution than item hungry PvPers stealing someone's stuff with a basic "Minas or die" type RP, or have the two parties fight over what type of combat they should do. If you can't agree, void running into each other. Far less likely to be exploited.`
