nppeck 601 Share Posted April 5, 2014 Post opinions here. But I'd like to note a few things1. If you can get both sides to agree to a rematch it will happen, but as of now we don't know if anything can be done about that battle.2. Remember that this battle is just that, one battle. It won't decide the fate of the war. There will be battles in the future.3. Lag is as we all know a major issue. I've made a proposal in the GM thread that might mitigate future lag but as of now there's nothing really the GMs can do about that. Talking to Sporadic he said that the server is apparently no longer capable of handling battles that large.4. GMs are contrary to popular belief not simply ignoring people. But what must be understood is that we have to satisfy both sides and make a compromise that will make both the alliance and Oren happy and drama free.5. No flaming or personal attacks they will be removed from this thread.
argonian 14254 Share Posted April 5, 2014 Dwarves won't agree to a rematch. They are glad that they finally managed to win a battle because we were rolled back. Talking to Sporadic he said that the server is apparently no longer capable of handling battles that large. Are you kidding me? So what you're saying is that we can't even have battles that are relatively small compared to some of the biggest lagless ones anymore? Buy a new serverbox. Samoblivion 532 Share Posted April 5, 2014 To Zion and Oren, a rematch would be best for everyone. Zion, you might not want to think it but rollback was a major factor in your victory. You were evenly matched, you both have an equal chance of victory as before.
Thatpyrodude 2008 Share Posted April 5, 2014 Amen, Dwarves can't beat us, now they are holding on to some BS victory for dear life

I would hope they agree to a rematch because of these reasons.
Idioticozzy 66 Share Posted April 5, 2014 Please Zions, find it in your heart to allow rematch.
Aelu / Rel (Combustionary) 1540 Share Posted April 5, 2014 Lag's always been an issue in battles, and I can remember at least three times crashes have come from them. It's never resulted in a rematch before (To my knowledge), so I don't believe it should this time.
Zezimus 1523 Share Posted April 5, 2014 My opinion is as follows: - Both sides had roll backs and lag on an equal scale. As it was the battle itself that most likely caused this lag to occur, we shouldn't expect anything different from any other battle we get into. - With the dwarves at least, we've had a number of issues in past battles with Oren that have worked heavily against us. These have been from fly hackers, to the situation where a GM created a huge hole in the ground, resulting in our entire force being slaughtered. Both of these things resulted in our immediate loss. However, we ended up accepting what occurred and we went on. A lot of effort was put into this war claim to ensure neither side had any kind of unfair advantage over the other. - This battle was quite simply, only to determine who has the initiative in the next war claim. There is no land losses being exchanged here whatsoever. People need to calm down and move on.

Buy a new serverbox. From what I understand battles such as ones that happened in Asulon will not nearly as complex. Especially with things like magic thrown in as well as an extra map in there as well. I'll consult the techs a bit more to see what we can do to prevent future lag. So the battle was 5 Humans against however many Zionists.
Cracker 4570 Share Posted April 5, 2014 From a neutral perspective I just think the server needs to have a fundraiser to buy a better host. It is obvious that staff's been cutting corners on RAM and host issues to save cash and if they need the money I'm sure the community will invest so nothing like this supposed laggy battle will ever occur again.
Cyndikate 2303 Share Posted April 5, 2014 Do a rematch whether both sides like it or not. One side might be happy to have won an unfair battle, and I am not directing this statement at anyone. Next time during situations like this, restart the battle and dont allow the battle to continue. Wait until everyone gets back on and situated, and restart the fight. Otherwise that situation was poorly handled by the GM in charge. He should not have declared a winner, but instead wait a few minutes for players to return to the battlefield. This is what should have been done, but instead 5 minutes after the server comes back up, a winner was declared, when there was a 20 minute rollback. Aelu / Rel (Combustionary) 1540 Share Posted April 5, 2014 The lag has never been near this bad before, it was this time. I guess we'll just have to disagree. If we rematched every battle where lag was a factor, we'd never have a war get past the first battle.
Fimlin 1997 Share Posted April 5, 2014 Oren is just whining that they lost, you didnt do that for us at Thoringrad nor ShadowCastle nor did you fix my LakeFort when Oren broke the WC rules. by letting this happen you have truly proven biased as we did not get such redo under ANY circumstances, battles are to big to be voided so get over it. People crashed because of the arrows you wanna see another example? here ye go: Thoringrad? we didnt get a redo on this:
