Remove Status Updates

I thought about this for a while, so please READ the entire thread before going "NOPE!"

 

I'll just keep it simple, rather than stacked

 

What I see in status updates (Don't worry, I'm guilty of some of these too. Let me know of others, I'll ad them in):

 

-Pointless gibberish

-sometimes spam

-People complaining about their ban report, trying to get the entire community to support their appeal (While not telling the full truth of the story I might add)

-ideas!!?? make a thread?

-video links

-#hashtagwhatever2014

 

Here is what I am thinking will happen if status updates are removed (If there is more, please let me know separately from your response, and I'll put it in):

 

-People will put their jokes, as well as their creativity into their role-play, and focus more on shaping their character

 

-Ideas will be put in threads if the player thinks it is a good idea, rather than holding off on it.

 

-people who complain about something will actually make a thread if it is worth it, rather than just venting in the status updates. If some players make pointless threads (depending on what it is) they can be warned. Some players may be new, so be careful :)

 

-people will actually log into the server, and if they have a link, or something interesting to tell someone, they can tell their friends, rather than tell the sea of players in the community who they don't even know

 

-The forums will be used more effectively in general, and we will actually see some usage of the forums.

 

-(tacked) No more stream ads, or quick questions

 

 

I like posting status updates, but to be honest, only 1 out of 100 of them are actually important, and maybe status updates are just better for Facebook, not LOTC?

 

So what do you guys think? Do you think it will benefit the server, and forums?

It's a good way for people to express themselves. They can say what they want without having to make a new thread to show off a small piece of art, or a funny screenshot. They can ask a quick question and get a quick answer. If anything, removing status updates will just cause more thread spam. We have Forum Moderators for a reason. They remove the trolly, un-needed posts. Getting rid of status updates will most likely result in more problems, if anything.

Let's just say you have an idea to post on the 'Ideas' thread, but you are unsure of whether or not it would take well, or would work out.  Why not just ask in a status if that is acceptable, so instead of adding yet another thread that is instantly shot down, you get a answer nice and fast in a status, and can decide from there whether or not to proceed.
