What The Orcs Need

I actually agree with you. The only time I enjoyed playing as Gronkk was when I was in the Flays or when I was interacting with other races. People think the Orcs need to play "the bad guy", but it's very difficult to maintain any form of roleplay or active playerbase when all you can do is kill, rob, or rape any other people besides the Orcs.

New players don't want to play the bad guy. Most people don't want to play the bad guy. People want to interact with others. Can't do that as an Orc, because you're branded as a whitewash and oestracized by the "true Orcs".

Who gives a ****? Just because the lore says so, the lore can suck my ****.

P.S. Gronkk was probably the worst whitewash ever at one point, but nobody cared because metagaming :)

There's also slavery RP, though that seems to be have been outlawed in Orc culture now? So long as you keep it non-creepy and don't just kidnap people then auction them off in the cloud temple in the same hour, it can be good RP. But then, of course, you're still playing the bad guy and the other races will try to avoid/kill you...

If he's not offended it's not breaking the rules :^)

You certainly seem to be an outlier then.

I've heard it used to be different, but currently it is pretty restrictive.

Unsure of it now, my orc was back in Aeigs.

Though it is unfair for people to say "This *Blank* isn't *blank* because of *blank*"

This is an online game, we're not here to cater to you. We're here to enjoy the game ourselves. If you don't find RP in the orc lands, look elsewhere.

Might want to consider non-combat based things to do. Everyday orc rp is dead.

I think that is the core issue. Non-conflict/combat based RP is a pretty small fraction of the RP, and there aren't many openings for it.

why are you so mean to me areon :(

Why  did you create another thread for this ****? It is not our fault that all you do is run around and say Ug.

Go ******* rp yourself before you blame us for the lack of roleplay. We are trying to better the War Nation, and you are telling people just to leave our nation and go around.

You have no suggestions on how to make our nation better, only on how we are messing up. The reason we (especially me) has to keep coming back to try to fix things is that we leave and then whoever is left in charge never rps a single line. That is the players fault, not the governments. If you want daily roleplay, open up a shop or something.

People who suggest that we need to become more like the honorable Elder scrolls orcs, that is where we are headed I believe. We are trying to cut back on raiding and introducing more culture and stuff like that.

We need people who actually roleplay, not people who sit back and complain about how our structure is wrong.

That's definitely what's needed. If you read VonAulus' OOC post in the Orc forums, you'll notice the desire for everyday rp seems to be the big issue facing the orcs. Some of us have been suggesting simple job creation, and trying to encourage people to actually develop goals for their orcs when they create them. We've also been trying to get non-shamans more involved in orcish religion by creating cults to particular spirits. However, I guess it can be kind of difficult to think of everyday life for a race that is rarely portrayed in everyday life in most fantasy settings, but we're working on it.

Slavery is not outlawed in orc culture. They're actually doing quite a bit of it.

I'm not blaming anyone for lack of RP. I'm blaming the way the orcs lore is, if anything. I'm not telling people what they should do. I am saying what I see as the problems, and what I see the solutions. I don't think what I said was particularily specific, or easy to implement. It goes against almost every orc characters personalities.

I tried not to sound too preachy, I guess I failed. I tried not to sound like I was complaining, but I guess I failed.

While I've been reading and +1'ing through the comments, it seems that people just aren't sure what orc RP should be like. Humans are varied and can do whatever they want. elves and dwarves have very serious roleplay because of the amount of texts based on them, hobbits have funny festivals and in-depth alcohol RP and Kharajyr are cats so they meow and stuff. Nearly all texts, games, books and movies depict orcs as the meanies who fight a lot and don't talk much. VonAulus has been focusing on the skyrim-like orcs which seem to be the best way to go because of their rich culture and still sort of follow LOTC lore.

As for getting new orcs on the only real way is to find players who aren't into the real serious roleplay, since orcs aren't very emotional they'd laugh if their friend died by tripping on a hobbit, "Hur hur hur! Rugdush flatted drippin' ovur fuud!" You wouldn't see an orc react by saying, "Urrr mi Gurd! Datz bi terribul!" So light-hearted, funny RP (in my opinion) is what orcs should look at as everyday occurrences.
