Knox213 10 Share Posted May 4, 2014 Vekaro Overview - Week One. Well folks, its the end of the week. Which can only mean one thing… This weeks report! At the start of the week I discussed the renovations of most buildings within Vekaro, the progress has been astonishing, i’m proud of everybody who has been involved in the redo of the town. Anyway, straight into the overview. Recruiting As many of you know, the town has recently had a chapel built, and we’re looking for somebody to roleplay as a Ruskan Priest, anybody interested in filling that role will have to show key aspects. - Dedication - Activity - Knowledge on the subject. If you believe you have the skill to fulfill this role, please get in contact with me. Please explain to me why you believe you are best suited for the job, why I should choose you and don’t forget to write a few examples of what you can provide and do! Introduction of the slums During the week I found something quite interesting within Vekaro, something I had never seen previously… and that was the sewers beneath the city, after debating where to put people whilst the city is built, we figured “Poor-People Housing” would be ideal, this gives new players a place to live whilst looking for somewhere else, brings Vekaro more roleplay for players who wish to roleplay as somebody poor, a place for edgy-folk to dwell and for the future, an event area! (Oh? Did I forget to mention the sewers have a slight alligator problem?) New buildings! Thats right! In the past Vekaro lacked a place of worship for folks who enjoy religious roleplay, after my endless houses fixing the landscarring within the city, I developed a nice plot of land suitable for a small chapel, when speaking with Youlovesocks last night, we determined that would be the best place for a church, and within hours one was built! The town smithy! No more will players simply craft armor and throw it over a counter for mina, I for one despise it when a blacksmith simply crafts the armor, throws it over the counter and demands a sum of mina, after talking to Origin_Lark, we decided we’d construct an actual smithy in which hopefully a blacksmith will actually roleplay melting the iron down, forging the sword and handing it over to the customer! (Something Lark used to do very well.) The town Clinic! Yep! That’s right, now i’m not talking about one of those cruddy clinics you typically see, with a ton of random beds thrown anywhere, a genuine medieval clinic, operating area, cauldron of blooded water, blood stains along the floor and tools stuck up on a rack! (Pretty cool eh?) The town prison! “Stop right there criminal scum, you should have paid the fine!” Thats right, i’ve been working on the town prison along with Beggin_Bill, added a few cells along with a ehh, torture area to remind criminals that crime is bad! That aside, i’ve added a desk, bounty-list for all you folk out there who wish to bring criminals to justice. Also going to add the list of punishable offenses, i’ll link a topic to next weeks report regarding that. Town warehouse Self explanatory really, this is basically where our builders store our building materials along with other miscellaneous objects. Town Hall A building most towns have, but rarely ever use, through with our taxation system, such a place requires members of the public to travel down there to buy their taxation papers (explained below) Another purpose of this building is so that the towns council can host meetings, bringing up issues residents have, what needs improving, financial matters and other town related issues. The Tavern Now, we all love a bit of Tavern roleplay, am I right?! After much debating figuring out where the tavern would be, what we would call it, we finally settled on a name! and a location! The Tavern is located near the town square, just follow the signs! As for the name… The“Streltsy Boot”! Feel bored? Head down there and talk with the local tavern wenches, I-I mean tavern bartenders! Thirsty? Try some Carrion Black, want a different type of drink? Try Carrion Black! Oh wait, that’s all they really serve… All food is fresh yesterday! Fancy playing cards?! Try out Strannik Blackjack! http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/109561-strannik-blackjack/ This is probably the only Tavern in Anthos without a rat problem! So head on down to the Streltsy Boot today, and experience tavern roleplay like you’ve never done before! The Butchers Ever wanted to buy meat off of a player who actually roleplays cutting it up, hanging it up, describing what meat you are buying, what part of the animal you are buying (mmm, bacon)? Check out our town butchers! You won’t regret it, I swear. On that note, if you feel up to the task of roleplaying as a butcher and such, get in contact with Youlovesocks, as I believe he is currently looking for help with it! The Decterum They’re recruiting! So go and join them, an amazing order with a rich history, currently lead by Abner Rahl (TaylorStriffe) they have flourished in recent weeks due to the change of leadership, if you’re in military roleplay, i’d highly recommend them! Houses available for rent! Thats right! I know to many people I have said “Houses may not be available until the next week” Well, I was wrong! After seeing how far members of the community are willing to go to ensure this beautiful town is finished and available to other people within the community, I can proudly say that houses will be available for rent THIS week! So, get in contact with Knox213, Beggin_Bill or Youlovesocks to grab hold of a house before they’re all rented out! Town houses will stand at a taxation rate of fifty mina per week. Hovels are available to purchase from around the price of three hundred mina, to five hundred mina, please be sure to check the signs on the hovel you wish to purchase before buying it! A big thanks to the build team for what they’ve done. New land acquired! So… Twenty five thousand minas later, a few hours of removing previous structures, I can happily say Vekaro now controls the lands below Valles, oh, we also removed a huge mountain which was in the way. Anyway, with our new found land I recently remembered… We have no area for player shops… So… These new gained lands will be filled with stalls and shops! making it easier for players to find what they are looking for! The builders I have are being pushed extremely hard and I hate the fact i’m pushing them so far, I’m asking for patience, within recent days i’ve been harassed, spammed and insulted for not having things prepared quick enough, though children, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither will Vekaro! So chill out, everything will be done in due time, It seems to promote roleplay if a city is constantly being developed, rather than having everything rushed. Anyway! If you feel up to the task of helping us out, please forward any and all screenshots of your builds, those lucky enough will get paid two hundred and fifty minas for each build you do. (Yay! Money!) Taxation As mentioned above, taxing will occur on a weekly basis, simple head down to the town hall, approach the floating paper and click on the block beneath (It should be a wooden slab) and then buy your taxation paper! Proceed to then walk back to your place and throw your taxation papers into the donation chest outside of your house! It couldn’t be easier! At the end of every week, I will begin to post a finance report stating our income, expenditures and overall tally of what we have gained in that week! Also, taxation is not occurring this week, the next taxation week will be on 18th May 2014. This give you all time to settle in, gather your mina and get well acquainted with the city. (See relevant topics at the bottom of the post for the topic “Vekaro, a guide to taxing”) Auctioneer Since houses are temporarily unavailable, it was decided that we should have an auctioneer up until the market district is up and running, you’ll be able to obviously sell, and buy items there. The auctioneer is located by current town square! Worth mentioning our auctioneer is temporarily broken, due to a problem with the coding, should be fixed as soon as possible, a big thanks to the Tech team for trying to resolve the problem as quick as possible! Future Festival/Shop District Well, I promised most of you that I would come up with a solution to “not being able to have houses converted into shops” and, well. This is it! Within the upcoming weeks I am hoping to organise an event of sorts for all you folks out there who generally wish to trade, have a good time associating with your friends, taking part in various activities, such as catch the hog, celebrate a bountiful year of good harvest and other mischievous things! Minor Improvements to be done Yep! Still some work which needs to be done in terms of laws, taxation costs and such… I’ll get right on that this week. There is also the case of having to label all the houses with their appropriate street name and house number, i’m sure Beggin_Bill will be sorting that out as soon as he gets the chance. And finally, the matter of lighting, yes. I know, the mobs are annoying as hell. Only way we can really solve that is if we add a bunch more torches around the area, or… of course if mobs are removed completely (hint hint). Minor Improvements to be done Yep! Emp 209 Share Posted May 4, 2014 Aemyn Verde prances through the beautifully messy streets of Vekaro, sighing in sweet nasal ecstasy as the wafting stench of peasant-hovels fills his nostrils, lungs, and other bodily orifices.
