A Priest Is Injured

It was a calm, quiet day at the Church of Saint Adeodatus. Father Cordal Winter went about his usual business. In the morning he awoke and said morning prayers, then broke his fast upon some bread and milk. He then proceeded to organize the archives of the church. Later still he had luncheon, and said afternoon prayers. He confessed the sins of William Horen as ordered by his holiness, Bishop Henry Horen. Then he had a chat with his old friend, Holy Ser Raigeki Kato.

Later on in the evening, trouble arrived. A young woman was carried into the church, grievously wounded. Worse- she was pregnant. Cordal and the Lucienists did all that they could, but she could not be saved, she nor the baby. To a weeping crowd, Cordal administered last rites. He sadly walked back into the chapel, brushing his hand along the strong, newly placed stone of the recently made church fondly. Upon descending into the basement of the church, Cordal was not looking where he was going.

Suddenly, his robe caught, he slipped. Down the stairs he tumbled, over and over. The crack of a skull against stone sounded throughout the chapel. None were around to hear it. Minutes later, the Bishop Boiendl discovered Father Cordal lying on the ground in the basement in a pool of his own blood. The Bishop uttered a holy prayer of hope and rushed away to get Cordal help.

Now, the injured priest lies in a deep coma. Tossing and turning on his bedspread, his head is well bandaged. Will he pull through? What of the strange things he says in his sleep, in multiple languages of Auvergnian, Kaedreni, Raev? Only time will tell. Time, and the Creator's Will.

Feel free to post your responses below. This is an excuse of mine to work on a project, expect something interesting soon, tomorrow at the earliest. For now, Cordal is out of the picture.

Surprised by his lack of notice and recency the Old Knight is ushered to the chambers where the newly comatose priest lay. With his medical equipment in hand the ardent Cleric gives a resounding sigh upon closer inspection of his new patient. "Brothers, gentlemen, it is with great certainty that this man is not dead similar to my previous patient. However, the blow upon his skull will take time to mend but with utmost capability and with the guidance of our Lord on high will we be able to restore this holy man's mental status. Let us pray," The gathering bows their heads as they mark the Lorraine Cross upon their chests, "Oh divine Lord, His benevolence on high among the Seven Skies. May we beseech You to descend your gifts unto us all so that the shepherd of Your flock may serve once again. May Your everlasting mercy and grace banish the destruction which is the unmaking of one of Your creations so that it may serve You again. May my hands guide Your Divine's light through you and seek their purpose in Your name, His awe some Regent of all, Amen." It is with these words that the Order places their attempts to restore the priest's livelihood.

Holy Ser Raigeki Kato sits outside the Church of Adeodatus contemplating the news. His parents once had a saying that when translated to the common tongue meant 'Bad things happens in threes'. He thinks back to the unnamed soldier Cordal and Raigeki once buried which was how they met, and the woman they buried today. A grave thought enters his mind but he shakes it off. Negative thought could spell taboo.

Raigeki finally arises from his seat and enters the chapel. To himself, he prays a selfish prayer. 'Let someone else be the third, do not take Cordal.'

((Na, no relation to actual proverbs. Just IC.))

Father rags prays for a quick and healthy recovery of Father Winter. He remembers a time when priests were made of tough stuff as he scratches an old wound of his. He hopes the next batch of Clergy would be made of sturdier stuff.

Jacob goes to the church to confess his sins after the battle with the Snow Elfs.  Upon hearing of the Father's condition, he furrows his brow and then heads back to the East Gate Keep.  A few hours later he returns with two large blankets and two mugs of ale.  He puts one blanket over the Father and sets a mug of ale on the table at his bedside.  He then proceeds to make himself comfortable in a chair near the bed sipping his own ale.  Later in the night, he passes out in the chair snoring loudly.
