Hey guys, so I have been thinking this for a while because I just don't understand it.

By I don't understand it, I mean, last time I died IC was when Orcs and Dwarves were at war with Oren. This was a the start of the Fringe. And what made it happen was a poorly thought out IC decision done because of pure IC hate. Heck the person I last attacked is one of my oldest LOTC friends, actually the oldest one.

I see a lot of complaining about the huge amount of fighting and killing rp, but I just don't see any. I mostly rp in Alras, so this is just from my experience. Mostly, if anything, I see poor IC decisions like the one I had last time I died IC. Last death I saw was a poorly roleplayed assassination, a one emote kill. Why the player allowed such to happen and didn't kindly ask for the killer to re-emote I have no idea. Heck I even sugested it myself in LOOC when it happened, and I don't think he would not do it.

The last raid I saw was pure rp, I don't think I ever saw a raid like this before. Four or Five men came in armor to Alras and started telling everyone to kneel on the ground and give them some minas. The only player that died was the one that decided to fight, in other words, a poor IC decision (they were 4 or 5, the character was without armor or weapon or allies.) Now, what did my character, and all the others around did? They complied, kneeled, and payed about 100 minas or so, or gave something else like some goods. There was one that didn't have anything and roleplay was being created by it, instead of just death.

It was on that same day that I killed the last time. A character, the only character that my character hates to the point of murder showed up in Alras, and did the thing that makes my character hate him, he threatened his family, all of those present at that time (which was all of the family.) Result? Two crying women in fear, and my character running, and attacking the man. He then died accidentaly when trying to knock him out.

For the last, the last time someone tried, but failed, to kill my character was a few days ago. An assassination attempt. Mostly, I got a lucky roll and escape a bolt to the head, getting hit in the neck and surviving due to healers around the area (it was in the middle of alras.) That same assassin then came after my character again, preparing a trap outside of my character's room. the result was someone else getting hit by the trap and dying, and my character entering mild depression because of it. So in the end, while the assassination attempts failed to kill my character, they created a lot of roleplay, which I enjoyed a lot (I kind of feel sorry for the assassin thought, he did so well, and got caught/metagamed/something.)

So in the last week I was tried to be killed and killed, last month raided, this map been killed once, raided once, killed once. It's little. It's almost nothing. I don't know if it's this way for the other players, and if it is, why it is a problem. So I want to ask you all what has happened to you all and your thoughts on it. I made a poll to ask questions to know about a bit better what is happening to the players.

1- When was the last time you died IC?

Meaning, when was the last time a character, or roleplayed beast/creature killed you last in character. Random mobs don't count, MC deaths without rp don't count, no-rp deaths don't count.

2- When was the last time someone started a deadly fight or assault against you IC?

The other player has to be the one starting the fight, but your character can do the provocation. So if your character insulted the other, taunted, did something to disrespect him, and he attacked aiming to kill you, it's when you should mark it. Assassination attemps count as well. If your character was the first to punch, take out his weapon, etc, it doesn't count.

3- When was the last time you were in a non deadly fight IC?

This one is different. I don't mean fights where no one died, but fights which no character wanted to kill the other. If someone died in that fight, it doesn't count, even if the fight started to be non deadly. For this question, spars counts, fist fights, bar fights, playful strugles, etc.

4- When was the last time the town you were in got raided?

Pretty simple.

5- Did you fight against the raiders? (continuation to question 4)

And did you die, were you spared, did you spare, etc etc.

6- When was the last time your character tried to kill someone else with intent?

This means while raiding, assassinating, anger, etc.

7- When was the last time your character tried to kill someone else with others attacking?

Whis means after the fight started against you, with others trying to capture, hurt, kill, raid.

8- Did you try not to kill him but failed? (continuation to question 7)

For example, did your character try to knock them out or not mortaly wound them, or did they go straight for the kill?

9- When was the last time your character tried to escape death by surrendering and doing what the others say instead of fighting or running away?

For example when caught trying to do other villainess stuff and guards see you. When raiders appear and tell you to do stuff. When you are captured.

10- Did you come out alive? (continuation to question 9)

Were you tortured and let alive, were you not touched, were you mindly beat up, or were you killed?

Think this should be enough, I await to see what really happens in LOTC

Eh, I've never won a PVP fight and I never will. Lack of 'Skill' and bad framerate = Death.

Needless to say, I have greater skill with language then with clicking. PVP is pooooooo (But needed on a larger scale, battles and the like.)

Raids keep people on their toes. The atmosphere of urgecy that they give off is great.

Or destroy the flow of peaceful rp by peaceful people, and end up removing the playerbase that lived in said raid target.

It's no fun getting your ass handed to you day after day, nor is it fun knowing you have to log off to prevent all of your stuff like building materials and food be taken from you.

This thread is not for discussing the merits or lack thereof of PVP default or raiding.

In my view pvp makes no sense, a child could kill a knight...it voids all rp (it truly does) and its for those who do not wish to rp and lose or those that want items that may not be true for some people but for the majority it is. (just saw freyas post) but anyway I have not killed in a while also due to me not being much of a pvper

My character is a pacifist, and by knowing where to stay to be safe, she's managed to die only three times in my entire year on the server. Two of the three were server antagonist events. The first one was back when regular players got to be the antagonist. It was 30 fully armed and armored antagonists vs 5 or so poorly armed and armored druids. That one did in fact blow up on the forums at the time. The second death was that my character got hugged to death by another druid. Yes. Hugged to death. Don't ask. The latest time was after the Fringe opened but before Anthos got closed off. It was during our trip into the north to get the seeds required to purify the blood shard in Leanniel. We were running from the forces of the north, who were not too happy with us being so deep into their lands. It was on a mountainside. They unleashed their plague spell on us. Some guy kept running back and forth, which means I kept getting re-plagued, so to try to get away from the guy(s) who kept spreading the plague around, I tried to climb further up the mountainside, and ended up right in front of some wither skellies. I didn't stand a chance.

And those are all the times my character died on the server.

I'm excluding all of the silly fights with strelts/whoever that went "r u dork elf?" because I usually void those encounters after whomever won/lost PvP.

I got 2 chars, a high elf which right now stays within Tahn'siol while being very bitter at the death of his niece, he tends to avoid fights, the last 'deadly' one was not even aimed at him but Knox trying to kill a high elf wishing to enter, ending with Knox's death before I could get to react!

My second one is a golem I could RP a lot more on, he never died so far and most fights ends with people hurt/ran away/hiding. It is often he wins, not often he kills. :P

If you don't antagonize other groups Ic you are very rarely attacked. I haven't had a hostile encounter in a long time besides being a bystander in a few raids, which I was never killed in and often enjoyed the thrill! Other then that pvp and conflict roleplay has been low for me as of late.

Hostility RP is always fun. Well for me at least, winning or loosing.

Deal with conflict regularly and kill regularly. Be it PvP or RP, it's almost always just retaliation for a failed raid or assault on us. There isn't going to be mercy given and it's always going to be with the armies of Oren.

Honestly, with how much people complain about getting raided, killed, or otherwise harassed it just doesn't happen to me much, if at all.  Last time I was in a conflict situation with a chance to lose my head, I explained the truth of what happened and was let go in a sort of mock trial.  Honestly, regardless of the misunderstanding, it was a lot of fun!
