Raid Feedback #9,300,138

I agree. I actually tried to rp yesterday, but the raids got in the way until it was past 9:00 PM CST. Putting a longer cooldown will definitely help alleviate the constant pressure to defend yourself everywhere, and counter-attack so you don't look like a wimp.

I agree with Temp. I've been staying well clear of LotC because of the constant raiding. Oren can only write so many victory posts, it's getting stale because there's just this blunt and rather masochistic determination by the losing side.

The dwarves would say the exactly same thing, just substitute Oren for Urguan. The fact is that without warclaims both sides have made a grand total of zero progress. In LotC winning a war means territorial wins: kills mean nothing as troops infinitely respawn.

Why don't you just warclaim that big ass wall blocking the way to Kal'arkon? Treb the **** out of it

With what trebs? By now both sides I think have concluded GM-operated siege weapons are just a plain bad idea, as they're either pea shooters that miss the ground or Mach 4 heat-seeking guided warheads. Without a siege engine plugin, involving siege engines means the battle isn't won by tactics or numbers, it's won by which side gets that day's warhead GM, or the one that goes around setting fire to half the fort for "atmosphere."

Let's also not forget the sniper trebs that can reliably knock out enemy ones, and the engineers with pickaxes who can almost immediately restore theirs to working order.

Mechanics grant a fair playing field. Add a human element to them and fairness breaks down.

I think the problem here is the "They raided us, we'll raid them," sort of thinking. Every side is dead set on being even with the other. Raids gain next to nothing. They've lost their purpose, which is to cause havoc and disarray in RP. Now it is a nuisance. I would hate to put OOC restrictions on this, but I believe it is necessary.

Warclaims are needed. The Oren Civil War ended after the battle of the dreadfort. Teutons were stripped of their title and Salvus was put under military occupation as punishment. In the end that one warclaim ended it all. We need warclaims.

Many times have RP events been interrupted or cancelled because raiders show up. Give us that time slot to build roleplay.

How does one 'treb' and underground murderhall? They don't. There are no counters for underground murderhalls. I doubt staff would allow a mountain to cave in on the underground structure and the structures supposedly have fan-powered ventilation. No idea how but, hey! Who needs logic anymore?

Mog enforced ban on war until Fringe is over. Show people new to the server that this isn't how LOTC always is.

They tried that, lol. Artificial OOC methods to stop what RP events led up to doesn't work.

Just bring back No-PVP zones so item hungry pvpers can stay out.

literally no one is item hungry on this server since everyone and their mother have at least 64 blocks of iron lol. +1 for generalizing though, how dare they use a mechanic already built into the game!!!

@thread

I agree, a cd period is definitely needed in my opinion, and I think 72 would just about do it, although this war is lacking proper battles. All i've seen are useless skirmishes and ooc flame wars about which side can bs more in their victory post on the forums.

Also, death to traps, they can single-handedly ruin a siege battle.

Why does anyone want to conquer an underground murderhall? Warclaim the adjacent area and ignore the underground stuff. If the other side keeps it, who cares, you control the entrance anyway.

You don't have to warclaim towns or cities, you can warclaim land and buildings, meaning you can go slow and gain territory, blocking out the other side, and etc.

Underground stuff? Block the entrance and let them die in that ditch.
