Words Sent On Crystal Flowers

Across the realm of the Fringe, an oddity appears, drifting in the sky.

It is a lotus, made of the most delicate of crystal. Like the flowers of the elfshair vine, it is carried through the blue of the sky, held aloft by the wind alone. Every so often, one of these precious, gleaming gems gently floats to the earth.

Eventually, one settles near you.

The flower sits serenely amongst its surroundings, taking in and softly reflecting the light crossing through it in a luminous display.

Those curious enough to touch the flower would find that mere contact with it causes it to disintegrate, but not before imparting a message.

Shortly after contact, those without well-made wards nor strong mental barriers guarding their conscious would find the world around them growing darker, until eventually the world becomes black. The ground beneath you turns blue, and a woman stands before you, clad in white, and surrounded in an incandescent aura.

She speaks, her voice echoing into your mind. It's clear as crystal, and the words seem to leave a lasting impression in your mind.

"The Fringe is a diseased place."

"War sullies the children of the first four fathers. Their hate, and rage tears asunder both the land and each-other by ferocity alone. This devastating melee has allowed darkness through the cracks of our world, spreading taint unto the land, salting the earth and spreading plague throughout. It is a place not meant for the children of the four to live, and soon the children of the four shall leave."

"It is inevitable."

"Do not despair, however. Just as the curtain on this war torn land closes, so too does a new one open. As your forefathers have done in centuries past, the time will come when the children of the four take exodus to lands anew. And within your destination lies hope for a place where peace, knowledge, and faith may thrive."

"The beginnings of a Utopia."

"To strive for perfection is to be alive. To be wise is knowing that you will never come close. When a new dawn shines on the faces of the four, a place of harmony, and wisdom shall arrive. A place where the strive for perfection can be sought, within walls of crystal and stone."

"You shall find me there."

The woman ceases her message, and fades into the blackness once more. Slowly, the veil surrounding you lifts, and the war torn lands of the Fringe fills your sight once more. The flower you touched has faded to nothing more than dust, but overhead you see one or two of its sisters still floating overhead, seeking out more mortals to impart the message of this mythical figure.

And so the process continues...

Proyce laRouge, plunged into a world of darkness, puts up his guard and listens to the message, extremely unnerved.
After the message is delivered and he is safely returned to the light, the message dwells on his mind.

"Such a thing as utopia could never be possible, could it?" He thinks to himself.
"As long as evil lurks in the hearts of men, the world will know no peace."
Proyce solidifies such an opinion in his mind and goes about his business.
And though his mind is concluded he casually entertains the idea of peace with pleasure.

Touches the flower, carefully looking around. Before rubbing his beard gently as it poofs into dust.

"Did I break it?"

Finding the fact that he, one with both a ward and the specific training against such things, was not afflicted with anything and it simply disintigrated, Lucas Black would quickly question another that he found falling silent in contact with a flower. After being told of what they witnessed, he sought out other flowers, trailing them and watching silently until another contacted it.

Upon hearing the same story from many others, he would affirm that this is indeed a repeating event with these flowers.

Standing in silence, he would simply say "How pointless...another idiot thinking these blood-thirsty children of our race deserves this and can keep it so..."

Quavinir after touching the odd flower, and getting the odd mental image begins angrily ranting to himself as he walks down the roads.

Quavinir stops yelling at the ground, realizing how utterly insane he must look to any bystanders.

he mutters as he continues to walk.

"Trouble from zees I say..."

*Tenshar, aged and worn from his years is found by the crystal flower during a moment of reprieve sitting on a hill far from most cities and people. As the flower settles he simply watches it for a time, fascinated by the beauty and complexity of such a thing like the flower before him. Slowly with a hand trained in dealing with delicate things he touches just the fringe of the flower, but even that is enough to trigger the message within and the flower's collapse.*

*Caught unaware at the time and unready for the intrusion the vision is given onto him clearly and as his mind is caught in the message his eye's stare into the distance as it plays through his mind. As the time passes he begins to cry, though one looking at him would only see the tears understanding little as to why as caught in the message he would show no emotion. Finally after a few more moments his gaze seems to gain focus again and his mind returns to the now. As wakes from the vision he places his hands on his face and begins to weep out loud in a place where only the clouds and the see are present to listen.*

*In time he stops and turns from the sea to face inward to the war torn lands of which the vision spoke of and he whispers one last thing to the wind as he walks toward what for now he calls home*

"I pray it is so...I pray it is so"
