Peter Chivay 2494 Share Posted July 4, 2014 The server is about as ass as my life right now so hopefully someone can fix it, good luck Viper. I'll see you on the other side.
Viper3X 1056 Author Share Posted July 4, 2014 Viper, while I respect you and am happy to hear that you are back; where have you been? You talk of weeding out inactive staff members, but nobody has seen hide nor hair of our Head Administrator in months. I don't mean any hostility, I just ask because I'm sure I cannot be the only one thinking it. It seems hypocritical that somebody who has been inactive for the past year is cracking down on inactive members of staff teams. I will paraphrase what I stated in the GM chat yesterday night. Anyone could have easily removed me for inactivity during the time I was gone. I stated that I would be inactive for a few months, so the staff knew I would be gone. It's not like I disappeared and they were waiting for me to randomly pop up just in case. Nonetheless, I was not demoted. Would you prefer I wait until someone else steps up to the plate and fixes things? I can do that if you want, but I guarantee things won't get better. I would rather take the initiative myself and ensure that something happens, but it seems that some would disagree. Shiftnative has been working tirelessly on 4.0 and Rittsy has been managing many aspects of LotC in my absence, so I would not expect either of them to take the reigns and I would not want them to be forced to either. It's true I was sick for a few weeks, but that's not the entire reason as to why I was gone (though it was a contributing factor). I was working towards wrapping up my studies and working over 30 hours per week while doing so, and thus I had barely any spare time on my hands for LotC or even video games. All hail the Viper!!!! Amirite guys!?! No, Viper became Admin, and shortly after vanished entirely. I realize he was quite sick, but we heard little to nothing about it. An apparent issue on the server is the lack of transparency with the staff to playerbase, so I'm curious why this wasn't addressed before hand. So until Viper shows the hype is real, nothing has changed, and we've still got a majority of useless admins then helpful ones. The timing was bad, that was all. My personal life is my own; I don't need to go on the forums to advertise that I am ill and ask that the community feel sorry for me. I do not need to be transparent with my personal life; the staff (myself included) needs to be transparent with their intentions for this server and community and how we intend to move forward and improve it. Well that just got my hopes down lol. Brandnewkitten was referring to my previous situation, not my current one.In summary, I plan on making a difference. If you would prefer to request that I step back due to my previous defined inactivity and wait until someone else steps up then be my guest.
Caelria 2619 Share Posted July 4, 2014 Alright, this has been fun, but I think this thread (with so many GMs actually reading it) is the perfect place for us to sit down and have a little chat. A primary part of running a business based in entertainment is to remain both likable and entertaining. I like a lot of you, as judged by your posts, whereas I hardly even know Rhia but dislike her from what I've seen so far. Rhia you literally asked for constructive criticism, someone gave it to you, and you snapped at them. That's foolish. Don't be foolish. In all too brutal honesty, we as a player-base don't care what you as the moderation and administration want for this entertainment business, we want to be entertained. (Areyounotentertained.gif) The thing that makes leading hard is that everyone wants different things; a lot of people love pvp and crashing settlements, whereas I think those people are scummy plebs who deserve nothing less than crucifixion. I don't care what you want. I want to be happy and entertained. I came here to be happy and entertained. I'm not entertained right now, I am growing slowly more bored as I hold out a dying light that things might turn around and I'll be entertained again, like a crummy patch in well... any other game... being fixed. If people aren't happy, especially if this many people aren't happy, and being this vocal about it; there is something terribly wrong with this server. GMs, stop telling us to calm down or shut up about it. If you can't handle discontent among a couple of people, you are not fit to lead. Give us descriptions of what your jargon means, don't be hypocritical, and shape up. I am willing to donate money to this server once it starts doing things I like, even if your rewards are silly. If you want money, do what people want you to do. Dance, monkey, dance.

Samson Option 9652 Share Posted July 4, 2014 I haven't made one of these structured, thought-out posts in awhile. I've typically resigned any urge to do so with the fact that it would most likely be looked past, thrown to the way-side as people attack me with sophism for something I did months or years ago, and the fact that I've seen evidence that some of the staff don't particularly take to me no matter how well-rounded, intelligent, and composed I've been able to act. Alas, this is about the server that I've enjoyed and have written for, so here is to hoping... Before I continue, if you have the emotional, mental, or physical urge to feel threatened by what I am about to say and you intend to make a demeaning post about 'Oh Gaius, you spawned minas', 'Oh Gaius, you aren't perfect', 'Oh Gaius, let me just drag you out on the internet for a ripe beating that I cannot imagine to achieve against you in real life'. Please, by all means, do look away and ignore this. People will caw like crows that 'The community is bad', well start improving yourself before expecting the community to improve. Have some compassion, swallow your bestial urges and carry yourself with an mindset bent on understanding others and do read on. The server is, at least somewhat agreed upon by consensus, growing stagnant. There is nothing appealing, but I can't guarantee that that is anything to excuse folks misbehaving. The idea that 'if I act up, perhaps I can goad people into correcting what I want done!' has obviously failed. Honestly, the hostility between players and the moderators has devolved so far that if a certain player does something wrong, the moderators will use it as ammunition and vice versa. A little compassion and understanding will get you much farther than utter disputation over an internet forum. I could give examples if need be, but I won't in this initial post so as to not clutter with unnecessary content. The server in general should be admired and respected akin to a small business. Go in the small business district in your city and you'll see that small ol' shops have some really enthusiastic and hard-working individuals. Do note that us as gamers cannot expect our staff to be on 24/7, we all have lives and priorities that trump LotC. However, it should not be used as an excuse by staff for being incredibly slow on the draw. You aren't a single Game Moderator, Lore Master, Event Team member, you need to operate on merit and have certain principles which would actually improve your conduct. You need to recognize your strongest persons and assert some sort of work ethic amongst your respective teams. Application Team and Forum Moderators, I think can be agreed, are the teams that take the least amount of effort so the previous sentence doesn't really concern them. The idea that it is better to log in one whole hour and actually perform tasks and/or operate according to a structured plan is far better than logging in for a five-hour whole sitting at the computer doddering away talking to compadres on Teamspeak 3, goofing on Skype, playing around merrily without contributing. A different attitude should also be adopted. A compassionate behavior in which you can get along with others, despite grudges, video game decisions, even back-handed actions and carrying oneself with an intelligent demeanor needs to be done. All across the board, from new players to the Admins. Social Intellect needs to be understood, learn to talk to people on Teamspeak 3 cordially. The server definitely is for fun, but structure is important. If you just demean others with fervor, typically this would inadvertently bleed into your behavior in total. For those who missed it. Moot 1719 Share Posted July 4, 2014 I'd agree, bad timing. However most teams have a hiatus forum post, and I'm curious why I was required to post on it if I don't have to be transparent with my own personal life...? Although my gripe isn't really your fault, you were sick and couldn't be around. Someone should have taken the initiative and simply told the community "we're down an admin". Once more, transparency issue. Regardless you're back, and I'm excited to see what comes of it. It also seems the passive aggressive tones are common in the staff teams. I suggest a new team; PRT - Puplic Relations Team. It might help. Get it, cause the staff can't deal with criticism.
VonEbs 1224 Share Posted July 4, 2014 Do we need a PR team to cover up actual incompetence, or just to stop the staff from looking totally incompetent when they actually aren't?

magno 68 Share Posted July 4, 2014 How can you make a video in advance for something that isn't completed enough to do so? How can you hype something so much when it isn't even finished? We all hear about the greatness that is the soon to be 4.0 map, but it's pointless to say all that when it isn't even going to be finished anytime soon. It's just bad business. Rhia- Not that this thread is the place for anything like this nor do I have to answer to a player... Isn't that what the staff is supposed to do? Answer questions and re-assure the playerbase? I'll admit the person who asked could have worded that a little better, but you make it sound like the players are peasants and worthless compared to you. It should be the other way around, the staff is meant to server the consumer.

Keldrith 717 Share Posted July 5, 2014 I am getting very frustraited... I take time out of everyday so I can check if 4.0 is out. I have been for nearly 3 months now. I'm tired of the delays. Don't spend your time and our time making a new temp map. As much as we hate to admit it, we always come back. So, make the fringe stay until you release your new map, or go back to ageas and make that the " event " everyone has been asking for. That age as is oyr half way point. We have to go through ageas to get to new ageas or age as 2.0. I think its too late now.
Minniefox 16 Share Posted July 5, 2014 The 4.0 whitelist reached nearly 100 players and A LOT of work has gone into the map. I'm certain that you and your friend's characters will come across new and enchanting things whenever you choose to take the road less traveled for years to come. -Shiftnative Are the players lazy or is it the staff that fails to enforce and make sure things get done? Hm? Can't help to notice the immense flaws in the system.
