That comment wasn't directed at her, it was just a comment in general toward anyone posting on this thread. I say something similar on most large news threads, hence the "for the 100th time".

ah, understood. thanks for clarifying :D

I haven't made one of these structured, thought-out posts in awhile. I've typically resigned any urge to do so with the fact that it would most likely be looked past, thrown to the way-side as people attack me with sophism for something I did months or years ago, and the fact that I've seen evidence that some of the staff don't particularly take to me no matter how well-rounded, intelligent, and composed I've been able to act. Alas, this is about the server that I've enjoyed and have written for, so here is to hoping...

Before I continue, if you have the emotional, mental, or physical urge to feel threatened by what I am about to say and you intend to make a demeaning post about 'Oh Gaius, you spawned minas', 'Oh Gaius, you aren't perfect', 'Oh Gaius, let me just drag you out on the internet for a ripe beating that I cannot imagine to achieve against you in real life'. Please, by all means, do look away and ignore this. People will caw like crows that 'The community is bad', well start improving yourself before expecting the community to improve. Have some compassion, swallow your bestial urges and carry yourself with an mindset bent on understanding others and do read on.

The server is, at least somewhat agreed upon by consensus, growing stagnant. There is nothing appealing, but I can't guarantee that that is anything to excuse folks misbehaving. The idea that 'if I act up, perhaps I can goad people into correcting what I want done!' has obviously failed. Honestly, the hostility between players and the moderators has devolved so far that if a certain player does something wrong, the moderators will use it as ammunition and vice versa. A little compassion and understanding will get you much farther than utter disputation over an internet forum. I could give examples if need be, but I won't in this initial post so as to not clutter with unnecessary content.

The server in general should be admired and respected akin to a small business. Go in the small business district in your city and you'll see that small ol' shops have some really enthusiastic and hard-working individuals. Do note that us as gamers cannot expect our staff to be on 24/7, we all have lives and priorities that trump LotC. However, it should not be used as an excuse by staff for being incredibly slow on the draw. You aren't a single Game Moderator, Lore Master, Event Team member, you need to operate on merit and have certain principles which would actually improve your conduct. You need to recognize your strongest persons and assert some sort of work ethic amongst your respective teams. Application Team and Forum Moderators, I think can be agreed, are the teams that take the least amount of effort so the previous sentence doesn't really concern them. The idea that it is better to log in one whole hour and actually perform tasks and/or operate according to a structured plan is far better than logging in for a five-hour whole sitting at the computer doddering away talking to compadres on Teamspeak 3, goofing on Skype, playing around merrily without contributing.

A different attitude should also be adopted. A compassionate behavior in which you can get along with others, despite grudges, video game decisions, even back-handed actions and carrying oneself with an intelligent demeanor needs to be done. All across the board, from new players to the Admins. Social Intellect needs to be understood, learn to talk to people on Teamspeak 3 cordially. The server definitely is for fun, but structure is important. If you just demean others with fervor, typically this would inadvertently bleed into your behavior in total.

Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”

Well, sadly we can't give every player a job but what we really need right now is support. Having pages of comments saying how upset players are that 4.0 isn't done yet makes the job harder and hurts moral. We wish 4.0 was out already too, we want the best for this server and all of our work is to make you, the players, happy.

To be 100% honest, 4.0 is this servers last shot... If 4.0 is a flop I think you will see the end of LoTC. You want to be helpful? Give good feedback and ideas on threads, show your support for ideas you like and give suggestions for changes you don't like. Read the dev updates and let us know what you would like to see from there. We can't make everyone happy but if everyone can turn their outlook around to something positive we can make LoTC a fun place to RP again. I know it's corny but... it's the truth.

So a feedback/ 4.0 forum would be a good post for someone to make?

I think there are a few already but if you want to make one of your own have at it.

One of the more important, unfinished things at this moment for 4.0 is making videos for the new plugins, these new plugins require some getting used to and the last thing we want to do is have you guys figuring them out during the whirlwind of the first few days/weeks.

We've gotta wait for Telanir to get back from Panama so we can make quick videos on how to use them and make sure they're finalized.

Probably our biggest goal is just to make sure it all goes smoothly.

@snoop "Now this bomb is dropped on us." What bomb do you speak of..?

Wouldn't it make sense if you simply released the map and hold a proper /RP/ event which would be uncovering all this new magic as if it were a major update for the server directly after 4.0 so magic isn't abused in the first couple days? In all honesty I feel as if there will be a ton of bugs with all the plugins early on, thus preventing a lot of development. With this possible idea we could simply get on after a disaster, roleplay and settle in our new areas, distribute land, regain all your hype, THEN RELEASE THE MAGIC AND VIDEOS to build onto the already existing excitement as it would draw many others to the stay on the server; it'd also give the dev team a longer period time to develop any extra plugins which would mean you could release the 'finished' map however hold back all the cool features in a larger rp event?

Why not split one large package into one main one and an extra, smaller gift?

Yeah, when I talked to Telanir last he preferred waiting to put the magic plugin on a couple weeks or so after the launch of the new map - so that's something that may very well happen.

Viper is one of the only staff members that I actually trust with the serverrr, he was one of those people who wanted to get things done as a GM even though admins often got in his way, and now he is an admin with (hopefully) a lot of time on his hands, I hope he can get things rolling. As an antagonist leader he was constantly trying to polish it up, and he was held up time and time again by inactive admins. This guy is extremely competent if nothing else and I've got my faith in this guy this time. We've got a solid trio of admins in Alan, Shift and Viper to be honest, though they might make some silly decisions at times.

PS: If the previous version of nexus combat which slowed down hits and stuff is implemented again, I will be very unhappy. There is no point for that to be on the server, however if there is the part of nexus combat which includes the professions plugin and extra weapons, then that is fine.

All hail the Viper!!!! Amirite guys!?!

No, Viper became Admin, and shortly after vanished entirely. I realize he was quite sick, but we heard little to nothing about it. An apparent issue on the server is the lack of transparency with the staff to playerbase, so I'm curious why this wasn't addressed before hand. So until Viper shows the hype is real, nothing has changed, and we've still got a majority of useless admins then helpful ones.

I think the most constructive thing we can do is post feedback threads and comment on this thread!!1!!!!1
