Again, besides the obligatory "make a tree" spell, I don't know if there's any Druidic magic plugin spell that won't be totally reproducible by a conjuration mage. Most of the spells in it have it's effecting blocks revert to normal after the spell effect hits.

Druidic magic's spells are pretty permanent unless stated otherwise.

Instead of keeping projects secret and how you want them to eventually work. Maybe you should give some frequent updates on what is being added. That way, instead of the current outcry from players not liking how it turned out, you can have steady criticism on the changes being made.

I do still think this should be a standard guideline for the future. Less stress on the staff and community, as well as having a better connection between the two  :idk:

I don't know what nature spells exist currently, of course, but from Telanir's previous video there's that bonemeal spell, flower-walk, and so on that did not seem to revert back to the normal landscape. Which wouldn't qualify as conjuration.

You are correct, it wouldn't. I'm just basing things off of what I know from seeing it in early beta.

Remember this Golden Rule and I hope Telanir applies it in the near future: You are playing a multiplayer video game. It is impossible to cater to each individual directly. Have fun - relax your shoulders - and do whatever the hell it is to get your phasers set to fun.

I apologize that I have upset the druid community, but I believe Gaius has a truth to his words. I will see what I can do for you guys but as it stands you will have to accept some terms you believed you were entitled to. So far the plugin has received plenty of consideration and player approval, I am not sure what outcry or grief you are referring to.

Lord of the Craft: Online

But in all seriousness, I do not care at all for how the magic plugin ships. Just like Half Life 3, I'll take whatever you give me. Sure, it does detract from the RP by adding in a feature that could be compared to that of an MMO, but I'm fine with it at this stage. Good job, Tech! :D

My big concern is that the lore should be defining the plugin. The plugin should not be changing the lore. Furthermore, the plugin should respect current locks on magic types. These are the issues that the druids are taking issue with, because we see that being a problem. Generic nature magic is on the same level as creator clerics. It's a way to bypass existing magic locks.

Without the magic plugin here is how you get druid magic. You have a character willing to take on druidic attitudes and beliefs (And not be some sort of unnatural abomination, and not come in just saying you want magic) and go through a few weeks of dedicancy, which involve lessons and tasks. Then you get attuned and, right off the bat you have rough access to communion and control, which improves over time as you engage in druidic RP.

So, first day on the server, if you want to get druid magic, the thing to do is RP with druids.

So a snelf can learn fire magic.... there really needs to be some proper rp restrictions on this.

This plugin changes no lore. Please read OP for more info.

Also, yes you have to get in bed with the druids to learn druid magic. But restricting people from learning some neat spells that place a flower here or there? That is some serious entitlement, we shouldn't be restricting people to this degree.

I for one and pretty excited for this new plugin. Sure given the methods are somewhat 'MMO-ie' but how else are we supposed to go about it? I may be in the minority here, but I trust that Telanir and the rest of the Tech Team will do their very best to provide us with a solid plugin that follows as much lore as possible. Again, I may be in the minority here, but I have faith.

Regardless, good job Tech Team. I can't wait to try this out when it's released!

Snelf can learn fire magic sure. Why would we stop someone from roleplaying out such a simple desire? We bring this here to augment role-play and give you the necessary tools to have fun.

If you are a snelf and believe you shouldn't be able to wield fire magic you are by all means entitled not to touch the magic plugin.

Yeah, but not restricting people means breaking lore. Only druids can make actual, pretty flowers.

In essence, you can make magic totally free for everyone, or you can make it follow lore.

You can't have both.

I fail to see how magic that has a permanent effect on nature and isn't druid magic isn't breaking lore, given that there is no other nature magic on the server.

And by your point, it's not fair that any restricted magic is restricted. It's not the tech team's job to decide if those magics need to be unlocked, that belongs to other parts of the staff, who have not unlocked those forms of magic unless they did so secretly when no one was looking (In which case where is that post? o.o That should be big news).

Kath, where you going with this again? Feel free to hunt down any non-druid heretic you see, and have fun!

Use this tool to your advantage, and if you don't like a feature you are entitled not to use it as you please.
