Fix Wooden Stairs And Slabs!

I can't handle it anymore. It takes toooooo much wood to construct wooden slabs and stairs, and I am just sick of it.

 

I need to build a city with complex roofing that requires dark oak, one of the hardest logs to get because of the woodcutting requirement. Do you know how fast I go through dark oak logs? Too fast, because I can never get enough stairs to finish the roofing. It should be giving me 2 wooden slabs instead of one for each plank, and give me 2 stairs for every three planks.

 

That's how it is for stone masonry, why can't it be the same for woodworkers?

 

I'd like this to be fixed please.
