  1. 1. Architecture

    • Re-structure the current capital, with new architecture.
    • Keeping it the way it is.
  2. 2. Layout

    • Destroy the inner city and make it a palace instead.
    • Keep it the way it is.
  3. 3. New City

    • Build a new city opposite to the old one.
    • Keep the city where it is.
  4. 4. Holds

    • Have individual Holds that make up the Grand Kingdom?
    • Keep it more centralized.

I would support holds within the center dwarven region, all the same size or even areas of interests, mines farms and such. Have a surface hold for farms and farmer clan, mining hold, center hold for market place, etc

So you are basically wanting an early Anthos Abresi? As I remember early Anthos Abresi was similar to this idea with the city in the middle and the manors of each house/guild scattered about the large areas of land they had, but was still within city limits. I assume you want the city part chopped down and just have clanhalls in each corner of the valley.

I think a redesign in architecture could be done, but the inner city is fine imo, and would be very difficult to reconstruct. Do we really need a bigger palace? The layout and location is good, and would be horribly difficult and resource intensive, almost unnecessary to charge, but architecture could be improved. Let's be honest though, do any of us actually realize how much work it would be to change the inner city, and do we want that. The answer is a LOT, and likely no.

Note though, the clan hall section on the inside still has not been constructed as it was planned, and I would really like to see that done. Even the upper level homes could really be halls, they are quite large.  I do think getting some embassies and flags in the lower level could spice things up a bit, and make it more 'palace like', with embassies, clan halls, and large, exquisite homes.

Not a dwarf but I'd say have the central city where it is, but refine it so its centralized around a single square (sorta like kingston or vairhaven)

It wouldn't be hard at all to reconstruct the inner city into just a throne room. You would simply have to remove the whole 6 rich houses there, along with the 1 clan that is living there and you would be good. Very easily could those rich rooms be used as housing for embassies, or something along those lines. Right now the inner city is completely useless since clans do not want to live in there it seems, and nobody has purchased a rich home since release.

Make it look like markarth! Just kidding, but the layout is HORRID. Also we need to stop making new holds and spreading our RP, maybe 2 tiny little towns simply for collecting materials and a huge capitol city.

Need a reason to draw people back, you guys keep saying don't spread out members, but ironguts already did and others as well cause there is nothing in the city to keep us there.

Events will draw people back, and good RP. Right now with all honestly I do not believe the dwarves are capable of producing RP that is non-trollish, or breaking the forth wall, and until people can get past the stupid and childish phase I do not believe we will attract people to the capitol, especially for events when all that people want to do is break the forth wall and troll.

If we are going for events, I believe we need to have unique events rather than just feasts. We need to have the clergy get active again and have events for each week (ingame month) celebrating each of the Brathmordakin and perhaps decorating the city for that Brathmordakin for that week. We could also have short holidays celebrating the Paragons as well. There is plenty of stuff we can use for events, but people just don't use it and would rather take the easy way of just having a feast for no reason whatsoever.

With the way of regions and no sub regions its hard to separate areas out for certain people.

You'll still see people mining into clan halls and such

Now I may be but a humble Dwarf, but in my opinion the city currently lacks a Dwarven feel, and the Kingdom should be expanded.

Dwarves are known for mountains, great halls, stonework, mines, and drinking. My original suggestion was going to be to remake the city; half of it into the token Massive Dwarven Underground City with Big Ass Pillars, and have a smaller, above-ground section of the city with a Nordic feel to it, with Viking-like architecture and houses clinging to the mountainsides along with connecting stone walkways and a massive door set into the mountain leading into the main underground segment. But it seems that this wouldn't be convenient in terms of rp and centralization. I'd suggest a renovation of the current city to make it seem more Dwarven and less like an average city in the mountains, including large statues, more stonework bridges and platforms, a more leveled, mountainside feel with deep crevasses, the addition of the coveted Big Awesome Dwarf Pillars to the long hallway in the palace, and most importantly, the addition of a centralized point for rp: the tavern. It needs to be bigger, or at least more prominent and interesting. The current Dancing Igor tavern is usually empty, and feels tucked away into a corner of the main square. The nearest, lively tavern that has actual rp is a giant freaking tree run by Elves*. Elves drink spring water 0.00000001% alcohol beer and talk about butterflies and trees all day. Are we going to be upstaged by those pointy-eared hippies? We should show them a real tavern, with the friendly, boisterous atmosphere of an Irish pub and the awe-inspiring architecture that a fantasy race would put into one of its favourite cultural pastimes- that is, getting really freaking drunk. A pub only Dwarves can make, and a city that screams "Dwarven Capital" at you louder than the arguments with the gate guards.

While I believe that other cities and holds are not an option due to restricted numbers, I think the empire needs more than one city. I'd like to see more fortresses and ports so Dwarven influence can be expanded. It doesn't seem reasonable for a regional power like The Grand Kingdom to be restricted to a single city and a cluster of mountains, along with one or two holds. I think the area around the capital needs more settlements, if not another giant mountain city then at least a mining town in the foothills.

*its actually a really nice tavern and you guys did a great job and I'm just making a point here sorry please don't hurt me
