I think a large issue is GM's being 'ban happy' and outright banning people instead of just talking to them. Honestly, it goes better to try and talk it out before pulling out the banhammer. It means less paperwork, and a grudge doesn't form. This won't always work but it's better than always causing a grudge.

If you want us to listen to your statuses instead of deleting them then try to not post them to be blatantly passive aggressive or think you are somehow getting the upper hand on the staff by posting some witty remark. I can't speak for the statuses removed as I haven't seen them but with how things go regarding battles/wars I am sure the statuses removed were either taken in a bad light or were just complaints shelled out with a side of snark.

Also it is within your right to freak out if your friend is banned. It isn't going to change the verdict though.

In blunt terms, I shouldn't have to want you to listen to our statuses. You just should. If people are complaining with a side of snark, I believe it is uncouth to ignore the main dish. While toxicity and crude words are never wanted, this does not change that the person is still angry about something. I believe that dismissing rude comments entirely is an issue that all people have as a whole, not simply on our fabulous server.

Too be quite honest, whoever deletes the status is suppose to PM the person who made the status.  Which in recent cases I am not sure it is being done.

However, I am always wanting to hear what the player base has to say because, think about it. If you guys weren't here, neither would we. Staff needs players and you guys need us. In light of this, if you do have any issues either with myself or the FM team, shoot me a message so I can either shape myself or shape my team so the community will view them as a better staff.

I apologize about the inconvenience that you and your friend have had today, if you do wish to PM me about this, feel free, I am all ears.

Thanks for your reply! I wasn't aware of this policy; I don't believe I've ever had a status deleted that wasn't clearly removed for good purpose. If your team isn't doing this, I would highly appreciate it if they did. It may be time consuming, but no one likes to be silenced.

This is true. However, I think the attitude of "We've edited it now let's test it before anyone gives any feedback!!" is not well-received by the players. Take the removal of statuses as an example. "We're going to have a trial run to see if it works." Within an hour everyone was in agreement that it was a bad idea and that a trial run was a bad idea. If someone thinks that the edits being made to the plugin aren't good edits they should be allowed to say that they think they are bad edits. That doesn't mean that we have to edit it before it's tested, but it should hopefully be tested in a less important environment then, say, the undead attacking Annil'Sul or something, which is probably when it will actually be tested.

I think that feedback should be concise, clear of vulgarity and insults, and clear. If it's not, it's not valuable feedback.

I would rather delete those "rude statuses" and have that player make a thread to be honest.

A lot of the time, if a status is removed we generally do our best to send a pm out to the OP as soon as we can. It appears on this circumstance it didn't happen, when it probably should have.

Perhaps a concession can be made from both sides? A status locked and commented upon that a thread is necessary after a five-minute breather is common ground I believe we both can stand upon. Deletion is so frustration to the average player, it is much like trying to speak your opinion while angry and being told to shut up. It's such an aggravating feeling.

I wish that everyone could be so civil and polite in all their conversations haha. A simple change in attitude when conversing, both to staff and by staff, can solve a lot of these problems. Calmness and respectfulness make things run smoothly.

This seems rather toxic tbh. you should work the problem out with the player before taking action.

I actually agree with this. If you feel it would help I could start doing this instead.

I do as well. Just even the simple change between locking the status and deleting it is enormous, I believe. Especially since the Pms about why the status is deleted apparently take a while to write up, from a player's point of view they're just silenced and don't hear anything about it for an hour or so. If someone is angry or upset or vocal about a problem they don't want to sit around for a while waiting calmly for a Pm telling them why they're being silenced, they're just going to get even more angry or animated or w/e.

I have never had someone send me a PM as to why my status was deleted. EVER. my stuff is just gone and I can only assume that somebody took offense and decided "I don't like this guy. F~ it, Imma just delete this guys stuff." while I am just sitting here thinking "WTH!? WHY IS THIS GONE!!!!11ONEONE!1!"

That's not how you should deal with that it and I am sure you knew that.

If they wish to make a thread about their problems, let them. You just don't go around deleting passive aggressive stuff simply because you don't agree with what they are saying. They are being passive aggressive for a reason, and most times it is because they will get berated for making a topic stating the issue, and the cycle of some GMs or FMs or whatever looking it over and locking it for complaining or something. Statuses gives them the small freedom of being able to post something quickly and small, the stuff that has already been said before. Of course, there is still the rules, but come on, most of the time they dont break rules just for being passive aggressive about a topic.

Edit:

I am all for locking a status and giving a reason why. It seems a whole lot better. I am surprised this wasnt a thing before.

For feedback threads:

Feedback threads shouldnt be locked until it goes inactive for a few days or something or until the topic has been ended with a yay or nay by all involved.

You dont just lock/delete a thread that has just been born, no matter how much it tickles your pickle.

That's just my view on topics I have seen lately.

I somehow doubt that's the kind of thing that goes through an FM's head when they delete a status. Usually, if your status has been deleted it's for an obvious reason, such as a blatant disregard for the rules. Players who have their statuses' removed either should know exactly why it's been removed because of it's content, or an FM or GM should PM the poster.

Though I think it's already been said, it's clear this isn't happening 100% of the time, and we'll do our best to make sure it happens now.
