Confederation of Gal Varak

The warriors under the human chieftain Mackenzie was going well. Human tribes to the south east were being pacified, and the warm fertile land they till would go well in feeding the Confederation. After sitting down to rest and consolidate the land they took, Mackenzie received a direct order from Ulric Stonefist. He and his now eight hundred men would escort five Drudmur sages along with the newest levy of Guards of the Hearth (Three hundred strong) to the Drudmur mining cities in the mountain ranges. The sages were going to try to find possible ways to work the ores and stone with their magic to help speed of the process.

Mines established in the Confederation's home land and the mining cities gave out quite the output of raw goods. Every Confederation troop was to be supplied with a now standardized kit. Humans would receive fur lined leather under armor along with plate or chain mail. From there they would get a helm, boots, and other clothes to keep them warm. Drudmur would get heavy scale armor and warming clothes as well, and the two races would get a certain weapon depending on their detachment.

With Mackenzie and his troops on an escort mission, Ulric appointed Maz, an unassuming Drudmur, to take up the conquest. With three hundred fully armored Drudmur and light human troops behind his back, he would sweep aside the small human tribes. His ultimate goal was to link the land between the Confederation and the mining cities. Opposition would be smashed aside by the heavy Drudmur soldiers and then consolidated by the light troops.

The Reaver fleet then has been at sail for nearly a year now has finally arrived at their destination. Sailing in the deep blue to avoid detection, and seizing those ships that did see them, they had successfully made it past the High Fae on their island. The Dominion of Martse lay before the reaver fleet, and the order was given. Keeping the majority of the fleet back to hide their true numbers, clusters of dragon boats loaded with reavers started to hit the Dominion's coastal villages. The warning would be given as soon as the ships were in sight, but the small raiding groups were expected to still take the small villages. They did not foolishly fly the Confederation's flag, but instead wore no insignia, and flew black sails.

The Dominion of Martse

free-tribal-tattoos-designs-pictures.jpg

The Dominion's cities sat tranquilly, the more centrally located barons sitting in their halls all but untouched. The countryside coastline, however, was quite different.

VocHKMb.png

Map of the Dominion, Red = Capital, Yellow = Large City, Purple = Village

Over three quarters of the Dominion's coastal villages were efficiently hit by the Confederation's reavers, the only villages well defended being those to the Dominion's far east. After the large scale raids, however, the few survivors from coastal villages reported the attacks to their lords, and the leadership was furious. The various banners of the Dominion sent out large armies, and House Edelarc itself sends much of its retinue towards the coast. They found the villages empty, the reavers already having escaped to their offshore fleet. Reavers attacking the large villages to the far east, however, would find themselves hit by a medium sized army.

dhm1198.jpg

The military of the Dominion consisted of the bannerlord retinues and baronial levies; that is, each one has a professional standing army of at least five hundred, and can raise three to five times that much in levy. While the Dominion would have a numbers advantage against almost every nation but Vyrantium, only the retinues were well trained.

While the villages have been plundered on the coast, any further raids or attacks on the Dominion would have heavy casualties because of the now readied military. At the same time, the large amounts of plundered fish and other food products would easily last a year or more.

The Dominion continues its expansion north and along the coast even with the recent raids, the barons adopting a "take more than we lose" approach. The nation also begins construction of what might be considered armored ships, spikes adorning the roof and slits allowing for archers to shoot outwards. (2 pages)

-The Lur Horde marches, the tribes before it tremble and submit, swearing fealty and enjoying protection and wealth of this horde

-Serault sends hordes of settlers out, who begin cultivating land and claiming it for their own, clashes for power ensue and there are many would be lords and new barons seeking their fame here

-Martse expands into the mostly unoccupied lands. There are a few hamlets happy for the new protection they will receive

-On the coast of Martse, the reavers cause terrible havoc, and the soldiers sent suffer a blow to morale

-The Confederation expands in the tundra, finding no resistance as they go to secure the ways to their mines

-The True Kingdom of Lur prepares to expand, its economy gearing up and booming as warriors young and old seek equipment and settlers buy supplies, the Kingdom thus flourishes and is in a good state with happy people

-North of the Fâe of Draedac, druids reports a strange disturbance in nature, and rumors spread of a monster or some creature guarding a horde...

-The Fâe of Tamenth has sent scouts to their border, and what they saw was horrible. A massive horde of Orcs, with some mounted on massive bears are marching straight to the woods. They have no chance but to run and inform their home

High Fâe Union

The High Lord Galador stood in a room with a courier, smiling to himself as he read the letter, sighing he turned to the Exalted Marshal Eregion, nodding "It is time my friend. Prepare the soldiers and inform the smiths to work the forges, we march again with our new allies in Vyrnatium, perhaps together we can conquer the evil deep in those damned mountains and reclaim our lands along the way."

The Exalted Marshal nodded, and the orders were carried out. 15,000 High Fâe soldiers boarded ships, taking a time to be met in Vyrantium by their new allies in gleaming armor, the Exalted Marshal Eregion meeting the Imperial commanders and formulating a plan to reach the mountains and divide land along the way.

With the forges and shops working, so too does the gathering of resources pushing the economy to a high they'd not seen in a long time, but such was the result of gearing soldiers and embarking them elsewhere.

That Orcish Tribe / The Horde of Lur

As the conquered tribes are ordered to march/ride back to the Lur tent, which is now called Maikhan, Rap'Lur recieves news of his horde's great conquest from these tribes, and he grunts in satisfaction. As the tribes are reprocessed into the semi-standardized roles of the Horde, Rap'Lur orders a messenger to ride to the horde to dictate orders to them, along with a few messenger slaves and guards.

1: Establish a fortification along the border of the forest

2: Send the slaves to major cities, to shout within the city that the desert encampment of Maikhan is willing to offer asylum to any who are considered 'criminals in hiding'

3: Sell "Bear Passes" at the forest fortification, to ensure safe passage through the newly formed Uruk Path for an arbitrarily exorbitant price.

4: Upon the main withdraw, any clans lacking a fort may establish one along the Uruk Path

5: A new doctrine is to be established, utilizing a single extra piece of equipment that the average soldier may not have at this time.

The Iron Dominion

BlackrockClan.png

Map:

oVXEa8d.png

It has been 120 years since the Iron Union, the Republic of the Drudmur, and a series of lesser lordships and nations were united in the south to face the commonly held threat of the treacherous Low Fae, who were raiding their Dol and ravaging their mines, leaving the nations devoid of resources and people. The Overlords of the Low Fae sought to expand their influence, but they had forgotten how powerful the Drudmur can be.

Even though outnumbered, the forces of the local Drudmur nations united into one Dominion led by the contemporary leader of the Iron Union, Hrrak Steelfist, to fight the menace. As the most prominent Magistrate of the Iron Union, Hrrak's support came unanimously. The general brought great victories to his people, finally leading the assault that would behead the Low Fae state by destroying their wretched capital itself.

Yet, among the barren wasteland left behind by the devastating war, the nations rose up and were reforged by the gracious hand of the Steelfist Dynasty into the Iron Dominion, the greatest union of Drudmur ever to exist. Hrrak Steelfist, the Supreme Overlord-Chancellor of the Dominion, with his wit and strength led the Drudmur to a golden age of prosperity and success. Like any great leader he was generous to all of his people, even the Low Fae, which were now citizens of the Dominion.

The Dominion itself entered an age of sudden industrial, military, and economic growth. New mines and quarries were made. The forests surrounding the Dominion's mountains were felled to feed the industry, and the old capital of the Iron Union was made into Dol'Treum, the new Capital of the Dominion.

To this day, the Dominion stands proud and tall, growing at an unfathomably high speed , blessed by the almighty Lords of the Mountain. Its people have plentiful quantities of food and luxuries, and all is well. The peacekeeping military of the Union ensures utter and total peace, and the laboring camps outside of the city make it possible for everyone to live a luxurious life.

. . .

Oh, only if this was true.

. . .

For the Drudmur citizens of the Dominion, yes, this was true. They seldom left their cities, and when they did, they only saw what the Chancellor's government wanted them to see. The industry of the dominion had boomed, the resources were plentiful, and the coffers were overflowing. . .but this was not because of the /hard work/ of the Drudmur people and the 'fair' treatment of their fallen enemies. It was because of the exploitation of the Low Fae.

In order to /maintain the peace/, the Drudmur were never allowed to visit the Low Fae Districts. If they ever saw Low Fae, it was during a festival of some sort. And these were not the Low Fae that suffered the harsh conditions of the field and mine, these were state-trained Low Fae made to resemble prosperity. Equality did not exist for anyone by the Drudmur in the Iron Dominion.

As the citizens of the Dominion feasted and dined on the excessively large amounts of food always available in the city, the Low Fae starved in mines and labor camps, mining the silver that contained the Drudmur's food and reaping the hay necessary to feed the animals that would be slaughtered on the Drudmurs' behalves. And all of this happened obliviously. The strongholds of the Low Fae had been converted into Labor Camps, quarries, mines, or simple mass-killing towns.

And this is not where the atrocities ended. Low Fae were not allowed to breed. Only certain Low Fae which exhibited likable characteristics were allowed (or rather forced) to multiply, to produce more working Fae. Anyone above 35 years of age was promptly executed, as they began to become old and build too much knowledge. Children were deprived of an education, and were deprived of their own language. The Dominion had successfully created a race of flesh-puppets that could not live on their own. It took enormous amounts of money and violence. . .but the result was glorious.

The Kingdom of Maren

=+=+=+=

The Waking of the Dragon

Armored trolls from the mountain legion had been prepped and ready to go. Trained with the scent of dwarf they were herded into an area just outside the first of the mines. 100 Mountain Trolls in all, they were the first to enter the mines ahead of an entire army of 1,000 Legionaries. They hit the first mine in the dead of night, rumours had been put in by spies that when they attacked the slaves should rise up. And thus as the first mine battles erupted, the Dragon of Maren awoke within the hearts of every Marenian, a new pride of expansion and nationalism awoken.

Securing the Realm of the Dragon

Cohorts of the legion are dispersed to the East, descending upon the mountain barbarians and plain dwellers in the shadow of the range. They execute the warchiefs of the more rebellious bands and bring an iron fist upon the raiders who had plagued the outlying villages for so long. This section of land soon finds itself under the attacks of nearly three fourths of the legion. Meanwhile the Legion looks to recruit its numbers to a total of 6,000.

Daidrec

elven_banner_1_by_isolde-d2xxx7b.jpg

Word spreads of the return of the Daidrec leader Xuron, he had no casualties whilst on the long trip and arrives with his guards into town with praise, cheer, and chatter of what he might have found. A week long festival is held upon arrival the elves of Daidrec just happy to see their leader back home. Though, towards the end of the festival he announces to his people that whilst on this long trek he saw a vision. The Prophet spoke to him while in his studies speaking of a long spiritual journey the followers must undertake and because of this he has found ancient ruins of people of old blessed by their god for eternal beauty and vast wealth. For this he issues various new commands for his people as he makes up to the grand palace of marble, and quartz where he may meet with his council.

Upon arrival to his castle he issues a meeting for those in his council revealing an ancient tome granted to him by their god though it his heavily glyphed and will take 1 year to loosely translate it, and 2 years to fully translate the text of the Prophet. Wth this Xuron would make one final formal announcement to his people

“In my travels, The Prophet, our god had told me one last thing. To spread the city of wealth, and splendor with all his followers so, from this day forth the new spiritual, and religuous hub from our people shall change. Turning back to this city in the mountains. We shall begin our pilgrimage there and announce cordinates to the cities location.. All people of all races are welcome!”

With those final words rumor, and wisps of information spread of this new city some say it is made of pure gold, others say blessed by the divine. Though it entices many to come now to truly engross themselves in the studies of The Prophet, people from all over the world, from the far west. To the mid north where the slaves of low fae would begin to hear rumors of this Promise land they are dubbing it in the nation of Daidrec.

In 5 turns the new Holy city will be named and filled with followers of the Prophet for the religious capitol of Daidrec

In 2 turns the book will be fully translated of the Prophets holy text

in 1 turn the borders of Daidrec with be finalized and the expansion stop

in 2 turns the borders will be more concrete the cities built around the outer ridges shall be finished and proper defenses will be completed

There is no diplomacy this turn though the druids of northern Daidrec urge the nations around it that being Tameth, Martse and Sarault to search in the wild lands center of them for there is a large creature brewing there. Whichever nation gets it first promised gold, and glory for whoever can kill the beast.

That Orcish Tribe / The Horde of Lur

His plan was a sucess. Having nearly doubled the land which the Horde occupies, and solidifying his hold on it by scattering the conquered tribes around the road, he finally made it to the forest. Rap'Lur ordered a few things to be done, as he rode his bear out to the front-line of the Horde advance.

1: Move about a third of the trolls to the newly-established beach-head city, Khaalga.

2: Authorize raiding parties to scout the new lands, by any means necessary (whether by blade or by sight)

3: Allow merchants to remain in Khaalga, for a price, but make it simpler for said merchants to travel to Maikhan.

4: A map is drafted of the current Horde lands:

-The Horde's new doctrine is taken up grudgingly, but none dare refuse the order of the great Warboss who has commanded such of them, and it is put into effect with efficiency

-The Iron Dominion's Scouts would note that there are some old ruins of the Drudmur from the old Empire, and they are close enough to be claimed...

-The Dragon Legion operates with brutal efficiency, killing all opposition in their night raids and causing a panic in the Confederacies mining cities, where entire teams refuse to enter for fear of attack

-The Expeditionary Army and the Union army titled "The Phoenix" begin to subjugate settlements they find on their way to the mountain, finally reaching the base of them Iron Mountains at the foot of an abandoned city, a citadel with marble walls fallen into decay, and gates toppled. The ground would be littered with ancient bones and armaments from the First Age

-The Daidrec people rejoice, and a mass migration to the Holy City ensues, with small private companies of masons, carpenters, and engineers arriving first to clean the mess around the City and build a road along the way.

The Horde's new Bear Pass is acquired by rich merchants so they can continue to bring goods to and from the Horde, and gain more profit with less competition.

High Fâe Union

0GwFbHM.png

The Army marched with their comrades of Vyrantium, the Exalted General Eregion helping to divide a proper border between the two nations and their land. As they arrived upon the Broken City as it had come to be known, the army made camp and sent scouts inside who returned stating of the cities' abandonment, only stray animals and packs of dogs roamed the city.

P7NLVI7.jpg

The Exalted Marshal stood before the army, gazing up at the city, his eyes set upon its' tower, determined to see it brought to civilization.

faQALnG.jpg

In the Capital, the High Lord Galador issued a decree that the navy be made stronger, ordering the construction of warships, and merchant ships which would be sold to burghers and merchants whom would receive Naval escorts in return for a 13% tax on all sales and transactions.

With the addition of new borders and lands being reclaimed, the High Lord did announce to his full council with the exception of the Exalted Marshal, that the Union was over and a new age had come, where broken tools were cast aside a stronger ones reforged. The dissenters to this were imprisoned and killed, evidence was planted which identified them as would-be assassins of the High Lord. With such, the High Lord did address a crowd in the Capital.

"Mae l'ovannen, my fellows. A great time is nigh, and I ask you all hold peace until mine own has been spoken. Our great Army, led by the Exalted Marshal has reclaimed much of our rightful lands, stolen by time and war since the First Age. We have made great strides, and yet still there are those who seek my demise. My own Council sought to see me poisoned. They detested we reclaim our lands, and make not the mistakes our ancestors made, they sought to keep us away from medicines and technologies that might break our Curse even. I was hurt, but not surprised to find the dissenters my would-be assassins. But they are gone, and I have come to mind that no longer are we a Union, nay, we are once again a High Kingdom. We have claimed what is ours, and will continue to do so. We are no longer defenseless or distraught. Let our enemies cower and allies rejoice when our Riders come bearing our banner. Long live the High Kingdom of Arador!"

The crowd erupted into cheer, their pride swelled as their nation was destined to have their spot in the sun once again. The High King now seated upon a throne which had gone vacant since a time when High Kings ruled the Fâe, and now he would restore it.

Fae of Tamenth

Logo-MH3_Symbol.png

The reports from the scouts was displeasing of orc movement although bit far to where Fae of Tamenth lives, they are still a threat so Tamenth troops remains alert. As the remaining outposts built at the edges of the border, it was time to expand Tamenth slightly move adding more housing and farms to support the people. (1 turn)

He instructed Military commander Deventh to train voluteers who are willing to fight for their homeland, this would make it total of 10,000 troops (2 turns)

He was ordered to hunt down a large creature that is currently brewing somewhere. Deventh and his skilled 25 hunters were sent south pass the outpost borders to search for a beast in hoping to kill it for Daidrec's reward as well as anything to help Fae of Tamenth. This would time due to tracking such a mysterious large creature through the forests of the green lands which could be anything. (1-2 turns)

Speaker Rheagos announched for his people that it is time to begin the ritual, at the grand Temple marches a horde of priests in dark green robes, six were carrying banners of their gods they spin in a circle in a circle under it was around three circles on top of the stone signil where the gods were studied to be stored. There were at least 80 trained monks and 50 rookies in the room. All of the priests speak a ancient chant of humming as Speaker Rheagos walks pass the circles of priests to get into the center of the circle. He raises his hands towards the sky shouting prays "Setherus. Mekarth. Fundor, and Sirath. We are calling upon you to be releashed from your prison that cased upon you by Beroth and Lioth. We'll releash you. We'll releash you!"

Speaker Rheagos looks down to cast his power of necromacy to the ground followed by the remaining monks to cast their magic. The earth beneath them shock, could it be the gods rising or the gods senting something to help Fae of Tamenth?

King Kaecillius the IV had been carefully looking over the events taking place in Ruma; he stood on the balcony of his palace, looking over the city of Lauriacum.

The yearly session of the Royal Parliament had just been held in the Capital City of Lauriacum. They had granted him his yearly funds, and his approval ratings were fairly high.

It was a hassle, negotiating with the Lords of Parliament, but at least he still wielded much power over his kingdom. At least the peasants didn't runs things. The very idea made Kaecillius queasy.

He had been King for 5 years now, since the death of his father, Kaecillius the III. He liked to think that he was a decent king, though some of his dissidents might disagree with him if he inquired about such. But such was a disadvantage of a constitutional monarchy.

The Oracle of Defensor operated separately from the state, so that it might remain pure from the corruptions of politics. At this point in time, Kaecillius saw no need to tamper with the Oracle, nor did he have any wish to. He did not wish to bring Defensor's wrath down upon him...

***

Campestribus had been silent diplomatically for quite a while, but now the King deemed that it was time to return to world affairs, especially along the southern coast.

The King had noticed the expansion from the Dominion of Martse, and he was not pleased upon hearing of their expansion. King Kaecillius summons the royal scribe to his chambers, and dictates the following letter to be sent to the Dominion's leadership. After it is written, a courier on horseback would ride off to the Dominion's capital:

*Unfurl to Read*

To the Sovereign Dominion of Martse:

Greetings; may Defensor bless you, and all of your kin.

I have noticed that you have been expanding your borders of late; my advisors, the Royal Parliament, and I are quite concerned about these aggressive actions. We warn you not to expand any further Eastward, across the Campestriban-Martse border. If you do so, we will be forced to retaliate.

I have also heard that you have had troubles with coastal raiders as of late; this is foul news. This menace is despicable, and may in fact be a danger to the entire southern coast. I suggest that we institute an alliance for the purpose of defending our shores from these raiders, of course, under the condition that you sign a nonaggression pact with us for the duration of this alliance.

Defensor Defensus.

~King Kaecillius Trentor the IV, Monarch of Campestribus, Count of Lauriacum

As a precautionary measure, the King dispatches 4,000 mounted legionaries of the elite Royal Knights Division to the counties of Massillia and Solva. (1 Turn) An additional 3,000 footmen of Solva and Massilla's levies would be on standby, though they are not nearly as well-trained as the Royal Knights. The status of the military readiness of Campestribus would be set to Medium Status..

Looking to other business, King Kaecillius would send an emissary to the Iron Dominion across The Great Lake, wishing to negotiate a Trade Agreement between their two nations.

Finally, the King would order the construction of a fleet of 15 ships on the south coast to help defend against raids, should the raiders from the north decide to start raiding their shores as well (3 turns).

Caesar.jpg

ACTIONS:

  • An ultimatum is issued to the leader of the Dominion of Martse, warning them to expand no further eastward.
  • An alliance to defend against sea raiders is offered to the Dominion of Martse, in exchange for a nonaggression pact.
  • Mounted troops are mobilized and dispatched to the southwestern borders of Campestribus; legion reserves and levy men alike are now at Medium awareness.
  • A Trading Pact is offered to the Iron Dominion.
  • Daidrec is invited to participate in the alliance against the coastal raiders. It's urging to search the central wilds for this "great beast" will be considered by Campestribus' Parliament, and funding for an expedition will be considered in the next session. (1Turn)

Confederation of Gal Varak

The Dragonmen had revealed their hand, and their army was a force to be reckoned with. However, they were outside of the first cities walls with no way in. They would have to settle down and wait, until wood could be carted in from far away (none grew in the dull and rocky soil) to make siege equipment. The Guards of the Hearth manned the walls with militia forces, and regular Drudmur miners and citizens took up arms and stayed as reserve. Each mine city had nearly five hundred Guards of the Hearth, and half again as many militia. With only the first city under attack, the other cities sent reinforcements through tunnels only they knew to the city under siege. They themselves took precautions, sealing the closer secret tunnels leading to their domain, and preparing to increase defenses and the amount of damage that would happen if they were to blow the mines.

The army headed by Chieftain Mackenzie were in the hinterlands when his scouts came racing back. They told of an army besieging their mining city, and of the trolls and legionaries with them. Thinking quickly, he dispatched a small column of troops to march directly for the city. Taking the eyes off his main army, a scout familiar with the mine tunnels leads them into an entrance. Marching ceaselessly, they reach the warded sections of the mines. Guards of the Hearth appear form their station to confront them, until they realized they were allies. After talking to them about plans, Mackenzie ask for scouts with absolute knowledge of the tunnels.

With the Dragomen sieging the castle, they were placing themselves in the valley where the city was located. On all sides besides one, mountains soared a few miles from the cities. Mackenzie's army emerged close to the only real entrance into the valley, and began rapidly forming up. The tunnel behind them was sealed, and with good reason. A full eight hundred troops, five battle sages, and three hundred Guards of the Hearth marched on the Dragomen's back. As soon as the two armies engaged and became entangled, the cities forces-bolstered from the other cities- would sally out and take the Dragomen's defenses, then smash into the already preoccupied Legionaries. Nearly seven hundred Guards of the Hearth, and 1,800 men would sally out, effectively outnumbering and surrounding the troops laying siege to their castle.

The reavers filled their ships with Martse loot, slaves, and food, and sailed back towards their home at the order of Ulric. A small band of three hundred and their ships hung back, and landed well west of Martse control. They settled down in the deep woods, content to wait.

Ulric Stonefist announced a new reform in the Confederation, where as officials of the varying provinces would be elected. This was met with cheer, and seen as a new way to get in people they wanted. In reality he had the elections rigged, and used the populace's blindness as a way to seed electors he wanted in places he wanted. Getting more cooperation from the various factions, Ulric called for a muster of all the Confederation's armies. Drudmur answered the call at once, and so to did the human tribes, and the army expanding south composed of Durdmur was called back. All the raw ores coming from their mines at home and in the mountains was finally done with their project. Soldiers were being armored and armed with quality equipment, and Drudmur were given heavy scale armor. Food was carted in from the south or from trade, and the army was given it's pay. Once fully mustered, Ulric expected a full Seven to Ten thousand troops.

A emissary from the Confederation is sent to the Iron Dominion. Ulric Stonefist ask them that they honor their blood relations to fellow Drudmur, and accept a trade pact and military alliance. They are also warned of the Kingdom's of Maren's aggressiveness towards Drudmur. He is told how even now they besiege a mining city that gave them no reason to attack.

That Orcish Tribe / The Horde of Lur

Boarboyz.jpg

(imagine the boars are horses)

His warnation was essentially at this point fully functional, and in gear. The main force of his army moves down to it's next target slowly, as raiding parties scout ahead, and harass Campestribus with probing attacks. The bears are held back, for the most part from raiding with the fast attack parties. The raiders would move in swiftly, sacking small villages and hamlets along their way down, and looking for a bridge over the river to establish a front camp on.
