Question Regarding Mechanics And Reaction!

Simple question really, I would have added a poll for those of you who don't wish to articulate your reasoning but it would be much better if you put it into writing than simply clicking yes or no.

If someone uses mechanics to enter some place, should we be allowed to use mechanics to stop the person?

Example: Person 1 walks into your house mechanically, person 2 uses mechanics to force them out.

The example can be used for a multitude of scenarios.

So, what's your opinion?

*Someone punches you, you take out your sword and kill them for assaulting you.*

No, this is a road we do not need to travel down. Resolving a fight via mechanics once it's happened in Roleplay is one thing. Making /all/ roleplay (or an entire rp situation) mechanics is another. If you run into someone's house and ignore Rp, that is against the rules. When in Rp, all actions should be emoted out.

I think it's a good idea on paper, but in practice I see it being easily abused.

Uhmmmm... It depends. Do they both include RP given or are they just walking in then emote: Person 1 got into your house.

Changed my mind. Punching the person seems very annoying quickly. No thank you.

I'd say that is allowed, assuming you have some kind of OOC warning system so they don't just get in, get flatted

I get that for systems like mechanic entry it makes sense, but like everyone else said, someone punches me mechanically as a joke, I suddenly have the right to pull out a sword and kill them. No thank you.

the more vague rules are added the harder it is to stipulate on, like the quote above, it looks like it would work well but it would just end up in a ooc fest ig.
